I am having issues with the recalled ignition switch in my jeep grand cherokee. the recall number is p41. while i am driving the entire dash lights up with every possible warning light possible. my gauges stop working and the lights flash on and off. sometimes my check engine light will stay on for a day after this happens. it is really scary. the first time it happened was in may and it only did it maybe 5 times from may through july. at the end of july it started happening a few times a week. in september we received the recall notice. i took the car into jeep to verify that the problem is the ignition switch...and it is. i don't have the money to temporarily fix it until the part comes in. meanwhile i feel unsafe driving my car. i've called the corporate office and they treat me horrible and don't care. the customer service reps have no information and tell me to wait for the next postcard. i'm really frustrated and don't feel like this company cares at all. the recall notice "says" they care about my safety but they sure don't show it. meanwhile i have to drive a car with my child in it that feels unsafe. it has now been 6 months since the recall notice was sent to me and they still haven't fixed the issue. how is jeep not held accountable? i feel like i have no options and nobody cares. *tr

In may of 2014 i replaced my starter because when i would attempt to start my vehicle it would crank but the engine would not turn over. the condition persisted even after putting on an new starter. i eventually went to a jeep dealer and they were unable to remedy the problem. i received a recall notice from chrysler about p41/nhtsa 14v-438 recall but was not given a time frame as to when i would be able to take the vehicle in for servicing. in the meantime i continue to drive the one vehicle and it has continued to not start in instances when i need it most. it has done so while my wife had the vehicle which has caused me great distress as she was alone and panicked when it happened. the vehicle does start eventually after about 20 minutes or so. this is unsafe and unacceptable. we spoke to a representative at the dealership where the vehicle was purchased and she told us she could not say when the part would be available. she went on to say we could wait it out or trade it in and basically tack on the amount owed on to the purchase of another vehicle. this is not an option. this situation is very inconvenient as i use the vehicle primarily to commute to work and if unable to drive to work our household income will take a huge blow. we seek remedy. Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the engine stalled. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

The vehicle is equipped with air pressure sensing tire valves that are made of a substandard metal that corrodes and brakes. the first time i had an issue the tip of the valve broke and the tire could not be inflated. the second time, today, the valve broke in half and the tire deflated in about ten seconds. fortunately, the vehicle was not moving. i replaced the part at the dealer the first time and they stated it was a known issue with the part and that a new part had been made that would not corrode. the fact that it has happened on two of the four sensors shows this is not an uncommon problem. clearly such a blow out at highway speeds would have put my life and the lives of those near me in jeopardy. *tr

After application of safety recall n23/ nhtsa 13v-175. reprogram final drive controller module. 2005 - 2010. (wk) jeep grand cherokee. 2006 - 2010. (xk) jeep commander, the transfer case of our grand cherokee could not be shifted out of 4-high to 4-low. this was discovered while attempting to use the vehicle to launch a 7000 pound sail boat on a marina launch ramp about a week and a half after the n23 reprogram was made by an authorized dealer. this demonstrates the software is defective and potentially dangerous by creating an unexpected safety issue. *tr

the transfer case is not allowed to go into neutral which is a requirement to tow behind my motorhome. i am 2,000 miles from home and the fault would require my wife to drive the jeep home instead of having it towed behind the motorhome. it is a safety issue as we take turns driving so there is an alert driver at all times, driving separate vehicles would require twice the drive time. this issue was caused by chrysler when they did recall n23. the recall was not properly tested resulting in the transfer case to not work properly. *tr

After receiving the recall n23, my vehicle is unable to shift into 4x4-lo. the dealership has acknowledged that this is related to the recalls update. chrysler refuses to offer a solution to this. *tr

We got a recall over a year ago, and have had no contact from chrysler to fix the ignition switch. dealer can't get parts. there is no way parts take a year to make. this is not a reasonable amount of time. the car has shut off or had partial power failure on the road. *tr

I already filed a complaint about this problem last month with nhtsa. this week i found out i can turn the ignition key off while the car is driving....wow! i discovered that because i wanted to re-inact what the car does while i'm driving it so the jeep mechanics can figure out what's wrong with this car. i can be driving down the road at different speeds & all of a sudden all the dash warning lights come on, i lose acceleration, like the car is shutting down. i panic and pump the gas peddle(no acceleration) and try to turn the ignition key on, that makes the lights on dash go off, & i resume speed like nothing happened. this car has done this since it was new, dealership guys would tell me "take any extra keys off your key ring" when i only had a couple of keys on it. today, when i took it into the dealership, the first thing the mechanic said was "take extra keys off", i only have 2 other keys on the ring. i put a dealership service tech in the car with me in the parking lot & told him to move the ignition key while driving, he said "you shouldn't be able to do that". he went in the back to talk to one of the mechanics and he said the same thing, you shouldn't be able to turn the key in drive. now i have an appt. on thursday 3/20/14 to leave the car there for inspection. i am afraid to drive this car now. it always happened about 4 times a year since it was new, but lately it has happened about 4 times in the last 2 weeks. with the deaths on the news right now with gm, frankly i don't want to be a statistic! the dealership says intermittent problems are very hard to detect, says it would be good to get the car when it strands me, then they will know what's wrong. it would be my luck the next time it happens, i will be going 60 mph on e-way & a semi truck runs me over when i lose power. please take this complaint seriously. *tr

I am writing to you requesting your assistance in finding out what is wrong with my 2007, 67,000 mile jeep grand cherokee laredo. for approximately four months while driving the car it has been randomly miss firing, bucking and surging, and stalling when coming to a complete stop. the unpredictability of the cars speed, bucking and surging, and stalling when stopped is a major safety concern to me because this occurs without notice on both street and freeway driving. i have taken my car to the nearest jeep service dealer, crystal chrysler jeep three times now and they have not been able to diagnose the cause to this problem. in fact, my car has been in the service department at crystal chrysler for nearly three weeks now, and they cannot identify specifically what is causing this malfunction. my frustration over my beloved jeep grows because without finding the cause there is no telling when my car will be ready. this experience now has me questioning the reliability of jeep vehicles and the confidence in service dealers like crystal chrysler. please help me find out what is wrong with my jeep vehicle. *tr

My husband and i were traveling to charleston, sc on i-26 to have a nice valentine's weekend. everything was fine until we merged onto i-26 in columbia, sc, when we felt a small jolt in the truck like it was hesitating or something. so we dismissed it as maybe bad gas or something. it happened a couple more times and as we were passing a rest area outside of orangeburg, sc in the left lane going with the flow of traffic at about 80 mph, the whole truck just shut down. no power steering and the car will not crank in neutral. traffic is pretty heavy on a holiday weekend, and i have tractor trailer beside me and behind me on a two lane interstate. trying not to panic, i put on the hazard lights and waving out the window like crazy trying to get these truck driver's attention, thank god they noticed and the one beside me sped up and my husband was able to get over by the exit of the rest area. after thanking god for our lives, we decided to try and make it to a dealership in orangeburg. we get there, and after 2 hours they say it was the throttle body and a tune up $300 bucks and another 2 hours we finally got on our way. we made it to charleston and salvaged a pretty good day trip considering what we went through, with no problems. it jolted once on the way back about 40 miles from home. so the next day i remembered we had gotten a letter from chrysler, and when we looked at it we realized that the recall was the real problem. this letter came in september of 2013, and we have not heard anything from them since then, almost 2 years later. also, you would think that a jeep dealer would know about recalls on all of the vehicles they sell when they put the vin in the system. now we just use the one key, stay close to the right lane and hope for the best. another car/payments is not an option.

As i was driving the truck jerked real hard which almost knocked the wind out of me and i lost control of steering, speed, i was unable to start the truck. i had to make my way to the shoulder in morning traffic on the highway to put the car in park and turn the ignition off and start it over again i had to do this 2 times before it started. proceeded to get back into traffic and it jerked again this time it stopped running and started clicking all by itself until i stopped the truck and turned it off and started it again. this is not the first time this has happened and it very dangerous and from the looks of things this is a ongoing problem with this model & year jeep. *tr

Car stalled while traveling on highway at 65mph with light throttle. electrical systems stayed on, engine cut out with no warning. when the engine stopped a single alert chime sounded. the car was maneuvered to the shoulder. placed the vehicle in park and restarted by turning off, then on. started on first attempt. this is the first stall i have encountered after purchasing the jeep 1 month ago. the engine has stuttered a couple of times at highway speeds with the alert chime sounding once each time, but the engine restarted within a second and continued going. *tr

Driving and all dashboard warning lights keep blinking like xmas lights and vehicle looses power, park vehicle and go to restart and check engine light stays on, next day start vehicle and check engine light is off. this has been an on going problem with this vehicle. new wiring and wiring harness was replaced at 43k miles and the "certified tech" said the problem was solved, but per my other complaints the problem keeps happening. *tr

Recall # p41 no parts available. vehicle staling since 1-14-14. *tr

I took ownership of the vehicle in december 2013. while driving, the vehicle engine has suddenly shut down on three separate occasions. the first time was in january 2014 in heavy highway traffic near colorado springs at about 50mph. i was able to move to the shoulder and turned the key off then restarted the engine. there seemed to be no adverse effects thereafter so i thought it was a random event. then one week later driving on a lightly trafficked highway in wy at about 60mph, with the cruise control engaged, the engine again suddenly shut down and again i was able to steer to the shoulder and switched the ignition off and then restart it. when i returned home i had my local mechanic check the vehicle over and had him check the computer for faults. after the checkup i thought the issue was settled. then in march driving down a winding mountain road near boise id the engine again suddenly shut down and i steered to the road side where i switched the ignition off and then restarted it. there after i read about this issue concerning some jeep models. i put my vin number in the jeep website and it said there were no recalls for it. i will take it to the dealer in hopes there is a resolution for this seemingly chronic serious problem. *js

Recall p41 parts still unavailable. when will they be available. *tr

When stopped at a stop light on a very congested road. i pressed the accelerator to proceed when the light turned green. i experienced a slow sluggish start so i pressed the accelerator further to the floorboard, there was no response by the engine. car proceeded at a slow rate of speed (10 mph with rpm's at 2500). i had to pull off to the side of the road and restart car which did somewhat fix the problem. i have experienced this numerous times now, usually occurs when the car is shifting in 1st and 2nd gear. my concern is when i pull into a right of way and the car does not properly accelerate i put myself and passengers at a safety risk of being collided in the rear of my car by another car. *tr

I had been driving for maybe 8 minutes at 55 mph when suddenly the vehicle jumped, stalled and lost power. after gliding to the side of the road, i made 3 attempts to restart in park. it would not restart. after waiting several minutes the car did restart. all of this while people are passing at 60 mph on a two lane road!! the vehicle is not registering any codes!! *tr

The vehicle shuts down without any warning while driving. extremely dangerous!! it's the second time it happened in the last 6 years, and it seems to happen when it is cold outside. (in freezing temperature). luckily, no one was around when the problems occurred, but if it had happened in a crowded area, an accident is imminent. exactly the same symptom as what was reported under nhtsa id number: 10555411 (this is a complaint filed on 12/10/2013). in one other instance when my wife was driving the vehicle at about 45 mph, it felt like the vehicle shifted in the first gear suddenly. when she looked at the speedometer area, all of the "prndl" signs were selected. (of course she did not touch the shifter in any way...) she subsequently restarted the vehicle and the problem went away. i'm surprised no recall is issued for this. finally, i brought the vehicle to the dealer, but they had no clue how to fix the problem. of course! *tr

The truck is a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. once again as i was driving my vehicle shut down (jerked real hard) and i lost all driving capability etc power steering, speed control. . . . . i was driving on the freeway when my jeep shut down it was during morning rush hour traffic. it was hard for me to glide over to the shoulder when everyone around you is going 60 mph and you have no power steering. when i was able to get to the shoulder i placed the jeep in park and turned the vehicle off and removed the key and put the key back in and it started right up. this has been happening everyday now and why searching the internet i've ran across on here and elsewhere that i am not the only one having problems like this with my year and make. it is really dangerous and im surprised there hasn't been a recall yet or a terrible possible fatal accident due to the vehicle being non responsive in fast heavy traffic. this engine shut off without warning. i've noticed this happens when it is real cold outside. *tr

I purchased my jeep a little over a year ago used. i have had numerous problems since i have purchased it. first it was thought to be an electrical problem since the car would randomly shutter, would not want to start or just turned off. battery was replaced multiple times, since it would leave stranded at any given time. the engine light comes on, but there has not been a solution to what it can be. i feel very unsafe in my car, and i am not sure what to do at this point. when i turn the car on, there is a loud hum or propelling sound coming out of the engine. when i come to a stop you can feel the car shake when the noise happens. *tr

Normal driving conditions on road and jeep totally dies, no power at all, this has happened twice. two other instances the jeep loses power and slows down on the highway and in heavy traffic. i have contacted my jeep dealer more than once, with no satisfaction. *tr
