While driving my vehicle it just shut down without any warning and i had to guide it to the side of the road to restart it.thankfully i was driving in a neighborhood where i could do this, it did this a couple of times in one outing, now its every so often. so far it has not done it while i'm out on an interstate but i try to stay close to home til it can be fixed. plus when i have on my lights my dashboard lights blink on and off . then here recently the air bag light started flashing and a few days ago it stayed on and hasn't shut off. i've talked to the jeep dealership about this and they said that they don't have the parts to fix the recall item p41/ nhtsa 14v-438 and i'm liable for the airbag issue. from what i have read online all of these issues are connected. i received a letter on the recall a few months back but have not heard anything back on when i can get it fixed at the dealership. please advise on what steps i should take to get the parts for this recall so i can enjoy driving my vehicle again. thanks again *tr

I was sitting at a red light and a florida state trooper was behind me, also stopped. when the light turned green, the cars in front of me started to move forward so i took my foot off of the brake to ease forward, awaiting to hit the gas when the trooper hit his gas, slamming into the back of my jeep so hard that it lifted the back of my jeep up and forced the front end to hit the vehicle in front of me at the bottom of his rear bumper - pushing me forward into the car in front of me approximately 7 feet. my jeep stalled during the hit but the air bags did not deploy. *tr

The air bags light comes on and stays on, the fuel system light comes on and stays on. when checked by mechanic was told some sort of sensor. the speed control does what it wants it can go from 45mph to 20mph and the vehicle tries to cut itself off i have to immediately put it in neutral to prevent that from happening. *tr
My airbag light has come on and it, has me scare of what might happen and my truck drives like it has a transmission problem. it takes a while changing gear my steering wheel make a loud clicking sound as i turn.. while driving turning. there are so many problems with this truck from day one.. *tr
The air bag light turned on so i took it in to mack massey jeep dealership on 950 crockett st.in el paso, tx. the person advising me from the mechanics department told me i was very lucky to take it in when i did because some part having to do with the air bags had melted & my airbags could have opened up at any time. he said he deactivated all the airbags in my vehicle. the total to have them fixed was way more than i can afford. it also affected the center seat belt so i don't have a seat belt as well. i don't think any part of the original parts should be melting with nothing more than the sun heat. *tr

Me and my room mate were driving back from my job when a lady in a car passed a red light. we hit the lady head on at 45 mph and neither one of the driver or the passenger airbag's deployed. the vehicle was a jeep grand cherokee. *tr
I was driving to the work, a semi truck was front of my jeep,it was a stop sign and the semi truck was stopping and i was slowing down to stop, but my jeep didn't slow down. even i was pressing the brake, didn't stop on time and i crashed to the semi truck. luckily, didn't give any damage to the semi truck , but my jeep end up total lost. after i got this recall from mail, i realize , the accident wasn't my fault, the jeep had a factory defected. i need some one to answer this for me. because i lost my jeep and got another car to go to work. till now i was asking myself how i couldn't stop the jeep and it was only 15 to 20 miles an hours. now i know it wasn't me. *js
My daughter's 2005 jeep grand cherokee was rear ended by another car going 90mph. she was sent airborne, flipped end over end & rolled on the side before coming to rest upright. the front of her jeep was gone but the air bags did not deploy, we were told by the wrecker service that they could not believe the air bag did not deploy. she hit her head on the drivers side window and steering wheel during the roll. here ear also hit the wheel and was cut by the glass from the windshields/windows. we have contacted chrysler but were told that the bags would not have deployed under these conditions. when the car nose dived into the embankment after being airborne and flipped over, i would think that would have deployed the airbags. *tr
Like many i have read my airbag warning light has been coming on intermittently. i've read this is likely a clock spring failure. the light has been coming on for about 2 weeks with a "ding" noise and the dashboard light. this happens while driving. it happens frequently (every couple of minutes). researched on internet to see what the cause may be and noticed that many others are reporting the exact same issue with the 1999 to 2005 jeep grand cherokee's. they have been told it was a clock spring failure and made to pay $310+ to have it fixed.
I was driving on a snowy road when my suv started to fish tail and lost control and hit a light pole doing about 25-30 on the front right side of my suv and my airbags didn't deploy. *tr
When it goes below 20 degrees f, the passenger seat senses someone sitting in it when there is no one there. the airbag light lights on the passenger side and the red airbag light lights. if i push down and release the seat cushion, the passenger airbag light goes off, then the red airbag warning light goes off. in 30 seconds, it all comes back on and starts dinging the alarm again. this has been happening for quite some time but my jeep/dodge dealer does not seem to want to help. *tr
When starting ignition, wipers activate. while driving, headlights and instrument panel flash intermittently. when starting ignition and while driving, air conditioner blower shuts down, cuts out intermittently and blower, when operative, only works on high. sometimes switching to off and restarting or hitting a bump activates blower. at one time opening and closing the glove compartment activated blower but not any longer. passenger air bag lights continuously.
As i drive my 2005 jeep grand cherokee( hemi)the vehicle simply shuts off. all the lights on the dashboard turn on then the car turns off. i end up with no control. sometimes this happens and then the vehicle turns on all by itself while im driving. about a week after i purchased it, i had this problem but the dealer said it was fine. as i took it to the gas station across the street, it happened. the dealership employees witnessed it and were nice enough to run over and pushed the vehicle back to the shop. they said they couldn't find anything but replaced the battery just in case. since then it happens at once every two months. currently, i have an airbag issue. the dealer cannot seem to repair any of these issues. the airbag lights turn on indicated the airbags are off because it does not sense anyone on the seats. it has been to the dealership 3 times for this issue and i am waiting for a call back to return it so they can install an ecm. they think it may be the issue. this will be the fourth visit for the airbags. seems the vehicle has a lot of electrical problems. i have not driven the vehicle since december 22nd. it is now feb 25. i am afraid of going over the warranty miles. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 25 mph, the contact's vehicle was struck by another vehicle. the vehicle at fault slammed on the brakes, which caused the contact to slam on the brakes as well. the air bags failed to deploy and the seat belts failed to restrain the contact. a police report was filed. he stated that this is a safety issue because the components failed to protect him from bodily harm, which could have led to being severely injured. the current and failure mileages were 27,000.
I saw the news this morning that chrysler jeep has admitted to a defect where the jeep cherokees (2005) turns off unexpectedly and there are issues with the airbag. my jeep has turned off/stalled soon after i have started driving it on a number of occasions. it sort of stalls with no power going to the engine and then a few seconds later kicks in and moves. this usually happens right after i pull out of a parking space or pull away from the curb to start driving in a lane of traffic. i have brought the car in and discussed the problem a couple times and been told there is no problem. as a separate or related issue, during one of my first services at a jeep dealership when i left the dealership warning lights turned on -- i went back to have the issue addressed and was finally told on the fourth visit that there was a faulty software upgrade and not to worry unless a light went on and stayed on (i didn't have time to pursue the issue and i got no where with the dealership). more recently it has been the airbag light that goes on and off (if is now off). finally, i went to the chrysler website this morning and entered my vin and was told there was no recall or notices. i hope that the nhtsa requires chrysler to address this issue and/or it is addressed through a class action. *tr
Randomly when starting up my vehicle the driver side airbag light stays on. took my vehicle to the dealership 4 times. first attempt 01/29/08: they installed sop drivers seat belt tensioner and repair short in connector at harness under seat. second attempt 05/06/08: repair harness connector with new connectors. third attempt 8/7/08: driver seat wiring harness bad, ordered seat harness dealer will call when is (they never called). fourth attempt 10/10/08: part on special order, still waiting for the part to come in 11/5/08. *tr
Tl* - while driving 40 - 45 miles per hour. the contact lost control of the vehicle on a gravel/dirt road which caused a collision with a post. the contact's airbags did not deploy. the seatbelt didn't secure her in the vehicle which caused her to lose 4 front teeth and, severely injure her jaw bone and chin.
Jeep about had the one the airbag light comes on, i take it to the dealer where i purchased the seat buckle, a year later light goes on,i take it back to the dealer and they replace the buckle again. 6 months later light goes back on the warranty had just past but the dealer fixed it again. 6 months later the light goes back on and i go back to the dealer and they went out of business, i took it to another dealer and told them what happened they charged me $150.00 to tell me that i had to replace the entire seat belt harness, i already new that. so i just kept diving it, around 2011 the lights and all gauges started to go out as i was driving no gauges at all no break light no headlights, everything just blinks for a few min, than back to normal, i went on line to see how big the problem was and there is a lot of people that is having the same problem. i took it to the dealer and they told me that it could be a lot of things, i told them it was the ignition, while driving if i hold on the key in the ignition and move it around all the gauges and lights start to flash. i told that to the dealer and they told me that it would cost me to look into it and try to fix it, in know its the ignition one day while i am driving at night my lights are going to turn off or even the engine and get into an accident. there is a big problem with the 2005 jeeps and chrysler does not want to do a recall. *tr
Dt*: the contact stated while changing the gear from drive to reverse there was a clicking noise. this occurred intermittently. while attempting to apply pressure to the accelerator pedal the engine made a roaring noise and the vehicle failed to pick up speed. the dealership rebuilt the transmission, however no other repairs have been made. the manufacturer has been alerted. updated 6/27/2006 - the vehicle battery would not hold a charge. the headliner had to be replaced because it was unraveling.. the sunroof motor had to be replaced. the transmission was rebuilt on 2-27-06 with on 90000 miles. the memory seat did not move back at times when the key was removed from the ignition. the tire pressure monitoring system was inoperative. the power steering pump was binding and had to be replaced. the air bag light illuminated on the dash. the rear windshield wipers were not flush with the windshield. *nm
Orange passenger air bag light on at all times, even with passenger seat unoccupied since day of purchase. customer was told at dealership that this was normal if seat was unoccupied. after a few months, the orange passenger air bag light and the red air bag light are on continuously, or the illuminations alternate every few minutes. jeep cherokee taken to dealership. customer was told it was a calibration problem, and that the orange light should only be on if between 1 and 25 pounds or so where in the seat. no problems for one month (lights were off, no passengers in the vehicle). orange and red lights now alternating again every few minutes yesterday and today (march 1&2, 2006). *nm
My front passenger side seat air bags warning lights keeps going on and off, when i position the passenger side seat forward or back don't know why it does that or my head lights flickers while driving on and off, had this problem since i purchase this car from the jeep dealer in december 2005,now realizing it could be electrical problem in the starting ignition switch, need to play with the wires under the passenger side seat to reset the warning light to stop blinking and warning sound to stop or the air bag light on the dash will flash showing it is off. *tr
Red air bag light on dash comes on intermittently then stays on. air pressure light comes on and tires are at normal psi. some days both lights come on together. i have taken jeep in four times for same problem in 17 months and its doing it again within 3 months of last service. *jb
Air bag warning light goes on intermittently. jeep told me it has to do with the switch in the passenger seat. jeep said that after someone sits in the passenger seat a few times that switch will work properly and the light will not go on anymore.
Consumer's vehicle was sitting at a intersection and was rear ended, forcing it to rear end the vehicle in front. upon impact, no air bags deployed. *ak
