I own a 2002 jeep grand cherokee, in less than 3 yrs, the heating actuators and switching baffles for heat/cooling split temperature. control has failed after this short time, which is a design issue ! warranty did not cover the cost to repair. *ak

The blend doors that control the heat for defrosting the windshield for safe clear visibility break about every three years. my vehicle has had this happen three times since i bought the car new. it is always the same thing the needs to be fixed. plastic material that hold the blend doors break in the same spot. the cost averages $ 1400.00 to repair. *tr

Dual climate control:passenger side has no control/blows cold air when system is activated. cold air from all passenger vents. no heat for passenger comfort,or window defog on passenger side. *nm

Duel climate control doors not working no heat on passenger side or on driver side. windows fog up and make for dangerous driving conditions. cost 1500.00 to repair and fix. at the dealership they have seen between 8-10 of these since october 2005 and it is only february 2006. when i called jeep about the problem the customer service person told me he was "setting me straight" and that he didn't care if i was a customer again. he would not let me talk to a supervisor and he hung up the phone on me. *nm

Faulty dual climate control. *ak

Turned on my 02 jeep grand cherokee on a cold january morning, there was no heat after several minutes. this problem persisted for a week and after bringing my vehicle to a nearby dealer, i was informed the blend door actuator had failed. the cost to repair the issue would be in excess of $1000 and if i had opted to perform the procedure myself the parts alone would have cost upwards of $300 and taken at least 8 hours to complete. this seems to be an issue on all 1999-2004 jeep grand cherokees and leads to complete heat failure with excessively expensive repair costs. *tr

2002 grand cherokee limited has a known problem with the dual climate control system. a door in the system routinely breaks or strips as soon as the vehicle has passed the manufacturers warranty end date. one side(drivers) of the system works as advertised, however the passenger side will only blow extremely cold air. the cost to rectify this anomaly is around $800 at a jeep dealership. from reading several automotive repair forums on the internet, this problem is occurring in a very high number, probably percentage of vehicles. supposedly jeep is aware of the defective part used in the system and is not doing anything about it. at what point is an auto manufacturer required to issue a recall? is there anything consumers can do to force the maker of the vehicle to fix defective parts?. *jb

Consumer stated dual climate control failed. as a result, extremely cold air blew in. *ak

Vehicle - 2002 grand jeep cherokee ltd problem - 03/14/2002, 06/27/2003 complaint - "ticking" and rattling noises from front dash and floor gear shift area when driving with and without the heat or air turned on. was told that the blend doors were operating normally for this vehicle and there was no problem. 11/23/2004 had to bring the vehicle in for repair - heat was gone on the passengers side. i noticed that there are at least 4 other reports odi reports for this same problem. happens when the warranty expires - i agree - what a scam !!!! *jb

Dt: the contact stated the heater and defroster on the passenger's side of the vehicle was not working. there was no heat coming from any of the vents on the passenger's side. the dealership diagnosed the problem as being the actuator door. the dealership stated this was not a safety issue and offered no free repair. this was not covered under the extended warranty .therefore , no repairs have been made. *ak

Windshield wiper arm broke and had to be replaced because it was scraping the window.*ak

Dual climate controlls on jeeps fail. one side of the units will not heat and only blows cold air thus making winter driving very dangerous. i believe this is a known defect that should be looked at.*ak

On dual climate controls, one side of the vent will not let hot air circulate but blows just cold air. will not defrost on one side . after talking to other jeep owners this seems to be a commam problem.*ak

I was driving on sr 70 when i felt my jeep slugging then i looked at the gauge and noticed that it was all the way to the boiling point. then i pulled over to the side of the road because i wasn't sure what had happened. called my dad he came and looked at my jeep and found that the fan had busted we had been able to put enough water in it to get it to wal-mart where we came to the conclusion that it had a hole in the radiator. there was pieces everywhere from the shroud. the next day had it towed to firkins in bradenton it was out of warranty so i ended up paying $1131.45 for this to be fixed. now ever since this has been fixed my check engine light comes on for awhile then goes off. this happened with the fan on 8/17/04 now both power windows in the back are not working just the other day my son got out of the jeep shut the door and down came the window neither of the back windows work had it checked out and it will cost me 300.00 per window for the bearings what is going to happen next the front ones. i thought when i bought this brand i was getting a good value but turns out all i have had is a nightmare. *nm

On my 2002 jeep grand cherokee limited cold air blows from one side of the dash even when i have the heat turned on. the jeep dealer told me that i have a blend door failure and the repair will cost about 1200 dollars. *jb *jb

I would like someone to check into the type of product that chrysler (jeep) to be specific is using on their windows. i have a 2002/and 2003 jeep grand cherokee laredo at this time only one window is operable that being the passenger side, the other three windows have to be taped up, to stay up, the windows can not be fully secured which causes rain to enter the vehicle, and also dampness when sitting out overnight. this also occurs when driving at night, when i explained this problem to chrysler i was told this was not a safety issue i beg to differ trying to not have it raining on you when driving or coming in the other windows is a safety issue they explained that the vehicles were out of warranty i did not know there was a warranty on safety. the web site shows there are thousands of this particular model with the same problem a high power needs to step up and investigate the inferior products being used by this company chrysler wants to fall on deaf ears rather than back its product that is one reason that imports are a much more popular vehicle, though they also have some problems, but it seems that the foreign auto makers are willing to back their product they have pride in their selves unlike american mfgs. *tr

My jeep is only a year and a half old and i already have to replace the door\regulator motor for the power window. the vehicle has only 39,000 miles and that's 3,000 more than the warranty covers. i ordered the part from the local dealer and its on a month back order. i asked the dealer if that might be a red flag that there is a problem!. *ak

Another blend door failure complaint. passenger side went out and not only does it affect the defrosting ability on that side of the windshield, a passenger has no heat either. blows cold air all the time. chrysler has known about this problem with the cheap plastic parts used to manufacture the units but don't take responsibility for doing the right thing and fixing them for free. my jeep had less than 50k on it when the failure occurred. i will never buy another chrysler product. they are despicable. *tr

Passenger side hvac blows cold air only. *tr

2002 jeep grand cherokee limited (wj), electrical wires melting at blower motor controller (resistor block) for heater /ac interior fan. fire hazard as this circuit is hot even when the vehicle is off. poor contact between the wire female spade connector and the blower motor controller male spade terminal caused excessive heat which resulted in the wires being charred and the blower motor controller housing melting. device is located under the dashboard on the passenger side. i am ordering a harness and heater resistor to remedy this manufacturer defect. while my car did not catch on fire, this is clearly a fire hazard that should be addressed by the manufacturer. *tr

The vehicle's front rotors and pads had to be replaced at 11,000 miles. *nm after numerous visits for the same problem the consumer was charged. the vehicle wiper blade were noisy and skipped, the dealer replaced the left wiper blade. *tc *jb

Tl*- the contact received a safety recall notice about the fan in her 2002 jeep grand cherokee in november and called the dealer and they have not yet completed the repairs. the vehicle has been placed on a waiting list. also, there was a brake failure while driving over 40 mph. the steering wheel would vibrate so much that it felt as if it were about to come off. this incident happened over 300 times. the brakes were faulty since she bought the vehicle, but the dealer always told her that nothing was wrong, even though there was a safety bulletin in place. after the warranty expired the failure was diagnosed and the cost of the repair was $1500. the contact was charged for several front end alignments that never seem to alleviate the failure. also, there was recurring problem with the motor of the rear windows. the contact had one motor replaced at a cost of $300 and will need to replace the second motor. *ak

Jeep grand cherokee blend doors. that all i have to say. the blend doors are junk. they break in every jeep gc. it's a 1500 dollar job that chrysler is aware of. it happens in all jeeps. the doors break, leaving the passenger compartment with no heat. chrysler is aware of this problem. they have issued a tech bulletin, but still they do not recall this part. this is '!@#$%. they know about the problem. fix it for the consumer already! *tr
