We have classified the 108 complaints from 2005 Honda Pilot about AIR BAGS into the following categories.
I drive a 2005 honda pilot. my safety restraint indicator light came on a few days ago. upon checking with the dealer, the system airbag contacts were found to be defective and need to be replaced. thankfully, i have an extended warranty that covers repair, which is costly. my colleague also drives a 2005 honda (element) and had the same indicator light come on within two days of mine. he doesn't have an extended warranty. the coincidence is too much. there must be something wrong with the safety restraints on 2005 hondas. others must be experiencing similar issues. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 honda pilot. while driving 45 mph, the contact was involved in a crash. the air bags did not deploy. the contact sustained cervical radiculopathy, knee replacement, shoulder reconstruction, and numbness in his hands. a passenger sustained injuries to the neck. a police report was filed. the dealer advised the contact to call the manufacturer for assistance. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the dealer repaired the entire left front suspension, steering, anti sway bar, and the front wheel. the current and failure mileages were 100,000.
Wanted to call to your attention that the front impact sensor on my honda pilot 2005 needs replaced. the dealership says the part is on backorder with unknown availability. without being replaced i was informed that none of my vehicles airbags will work currently. also he stated that he has had to order 3 in the last week for other customers who have had the same problem from that dealership alone. should this be considered for a recall?
I am the original owner of a 2005 honda pilot. my problem is that the airbag light has come on in my vehicle. i was told by the dealership that my airbags will not deploy in case of a crash. i had to initially pay 100 dollars just to get them to look at it and now i am having to wait up to 2 months for the part that is backordered. i am very scared that something may happen and i will not be protected. *tr
I was traveling at 45 mph down a 2 lane road. a 1998 toyota camry traveling at 50 mph in the opposite direction turned into my lane. the driver hit the left front of my vehicle without braking. the impact forced my pilot onto two wheels coming down on the front hood of her car. the impact forced me from the road through a ditch, i hit a concrete culvert with the right front of my vehicle which sent my entire vehicle airborne. i landed in the middle of a gravel road and continued into a yard where i sheared off two utility pole support wires. the impact destroyed the left front of my vehicle, breaking all of the suspension components including the sway bar and control arms. it also did suspension damage to the right front of my vehicle. the impact also destroyed the rocker panel and both left side doors on my vehicle along with all four alloy wheels and tires. i hit the side windows with my head several times and also contacted the "a" pillar with my head. the passenger in the front seat also sustained neck/ head injuries contacting the "a" pillars and windshield. neither the side impact of frontal impact air bags deployed. i contacted the dealer and the manufacturer about my concerns on multiple occasions. neither was concerned about the failure. the total collision damage was $13,700.

After rear ending another vehicle, significant damage done to the front end of the honda pilot, and to air bags deployed. *tr
Both the left and right airbag sensors for my 2005 honda pilot exl failed six months apart. in the first case, in february 2009, the sensor light came on while we were driving back to pennsylvania from north carolina. examination at the honda dealer in pa determined that one of the two front sensors had failed due to corrosion and an electrical short. the unit was replaced. six months later the sensor light came on again and it was determined that the other sensor failed. the cause of the failure was corrosion and an electrical short. in both cases, the airbag would not have operated had their been an accident. the dealer claimed the failures were, "just one of those things". having worked with passive restraint systems in the past and having worked with nearly all automobile companies (including toyota and honda in japan), i doubted this explanation. these were improperly manufactured and sealed sensors and corrosion/failure was inevitable. this is a rare failure if the components are manufactured properly. *tr
Srs - supplemental restraint system light keeps going on and off for no reason. it stays on and then goes off sometimes. it is for airbags. *tr
Dt: caller's wife while driving the vehicle it was hit in the right front wheel area , and air bag deployed. caller's wife hands were burned very badly. caller believed a subs tango from the air bags burned wife's hands. the substance was a gray color and was embedded in her skin and cudgel's. she had bumps and bruises. but the burns were making her extremely uncomfortable, and she was having a hard time. dealer/ manufacturer had not been contacted. a police report was filed. she had to go to the doctor twice to get an ointment and pain pills. *ak
Honda has refused for over a month to answer why my vehicle is not being recalled for its air bags. i have asked how they know my vehicle does not need to be recalled when vehicles of the same model and year already have been recalled in certain regions of the us. they will not answer whether my car is safe or not. i have asked that they remove at their expense my air bags to determine if they are unsafe, a request that has not been accepted. the person who last called and left a message from honda customer service has now failed to return my calls on at least 3 occasions. based on previous conversations with my dealer and honda customer service and the recent failure of customer service to return my calls, i feel as if i am being stonewalled by honda, who seems unwilling to take responsibility for a flawed, albeit cost-saving design, by one of its suppliers. *tr
