Problems with 2017 Honda CR-V FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

On average, the 2017 Honda CR-V starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM and its various aspects after 15 336 miles.

My car when 1st time start engine in am ,the whole car shacking abnormal and the gasoline smell some time but i don't know what wrong

A few weeks ago, my wife and i were driving on the interstate and noticed a gasoline smell in the passenger compartment, which lasted a short period of time and went away. on another occasion we noticed the smell again. i checked the fuel fill tube but found no problem there. i also checked under the hood and detected a fuel smell but saw no evidence of a leak. while under the hood i checked the oil and smelled a strong fuel smell in the oil. the fluid level on the dipstick was 7/8' above full level. i checked and double checked the levels and smell and there was definitely gasoline in the oil. i contacted the dealership (johnson city honda in johnson city, tn) and was told that this was a characteristic of the 1.5l engine when it was driven at low speeds and should be 'driven at higher speeds on the freeway to 'burn off' the fuel in the oil'! (we had just returned from a 750 mile interstate trip).they did change the oil but there was no resolution to the problem. since then the oil level has increased to ' above full level and the fuel smell is present. in my opinion, gasoline in the oil presents a safety hazard in that it can ignite under extreme heat conditions and can cause respiratory issues with passengers when the smell migrates to the passenger compartment. i have received information that honda has recalled approximately 350,000 of these vehicles in the asian market, but they have not made any attempt to correct the problem in the u.s.

Fuel is making it's way into the oil system. everytime i check the oil i can clearly smell gasoline on the dipstick. i know that honda has recalled 350,000 crvs in china for the same issue with the same 1.5 turbo engines however, when i tell the dealership or honda representatives about it they act as if it is an isolated incident. this will eventually cause premature wear on the engine and potentially become a safety concern if the engine were to stall at high speeds.

-i noticed oil/gas leak on the engine that slowly drips under. the engine oil smells gas, oil level goes up. - lane departare goes off when car is idle for more than 15mins (randomly) - navigation/audio acts up -changes screen and nonstop beeping. you n

Engine oil level over the maximum level. ac blows hot air in winter

While driving my 2017 honda cr-v ex-l on highway (the trip was about 10 hours), about half way of my trip, i could not reach the speed to 55mph with speed limit of 70mph. my odometer was reading around 30000mi. about two months later (just two weeks ago) i took another 2 hour one way trip, similar thing happened to me again on my way back (i could only drive at about 60mph with speed limit of 70mph). i raised the issue with local honda dealer and they told me to schedule an appointment. i will see what they are going to tell me about the diagnostic checkup. in addition to above possible engine/power/fuel related issues, i had two incidents of dead battery without doing anything after stopping my car. one time (summer 2018) i drove to my son's private teacher's house and parked outside. after the lesson i couldn't start my car. it took 4 hours for honda roadside assistance to come and found out the battery was dead. after the gentleman jump started my car it was driving fine. in september 2018 i did my oil change, the dealer's exam showed battery life good. then just about 4 weeks ago in october 2018, my car parked in my garage and it couldn't start again. the roadside assistance found out the battery was dead and no battery life. honda dealer replaced the battery for me.

Removed dipstick and smelled gas in oil. oil was also so thin i could not take a reading. saw on various websites other people are experiencing something similar. checked after driving the car for 15 minutes.

Gas smell in cabin chemical smell in cabin gas in oil concerned of engine break down

I've got 21000 miles on this car which i bought brand new. it's been to the dealership at least four times for the following: all warning lights come on the first time it happened i couldn't release the electronic parking brake. i was told oil was mixing with gas and that honda has a fix 'coming soon' i'm afraid to drive this car. the car was stationary each time

Gasoline getting into the oil. dipstick read in between "the lines" on level ground. drove 1500 miles (approx.) during a vacation. checked oil at our destination, on level ground, and the oil level was 1/4" to 3/8" above the full line on the dipstick and smelled of gasoline. i called honda and received a case number 08740888. took car to dealer and was told honda is aware of the problem but doesn't know what to do about it. also there is a recall in china for this very problem. the dealer did change the oil.

There is certainly an excess amount of gas mixed in engine oil. only few weeks after oil change, the oil level is already 20 mm above the max line. it's certainly a design flaw and i think honda should be responsible for this mistake and the customers. it's huge safety concern and hope the relevant resources can take action to investigate this issue.

I heard that there is oil level increase problem on this make, model, and year's engine because of fuel leak, so i checked the engine oil level a few hundred miles after changing the oil and found that the oil level is much higher than the maximum mark on the dipstick. i brought the car to dealer previously, complaining of a smell of gas in the oil when i checked it initially, and they said it is fine, that nothing is wrong. both times of checking the oil, the car was in my garage, stationary, on level ground.

Gas smell in cabin of car on and off for 3 months. took car to dealer for check. service reported gas in oil. honda aware of problem . oil change done as per honda recommendation. no solution to gas contaminating oil is currently available. gas smell was present sometimes while running other times present on entering parked car.

Fuel-oil smell in cabin and outside the car when it is parked in-door after drive. fuel in oil. the oil level exceeds maximum. gasoline smell in the oil. the car does not comply with the manufacturer's technical specification. risks and potential impacts: the odor causes irritation of respiratory system. it can cause health problems. according to honda : "overfilling the engine oil can result in leaks and engine damage." the diluted by gasoline or any other substance oil impacts engine work and the air turbine which is lubricated and cooled by engine oil. i am afraid of the car engine may stop on a road causing a collision.

I got engin lights on my car and went to the dealership to know what happened with the car. the dealer just ignore the problem and remove the lights from the the dash. i went to dealership 1 several times for that problem and evry time he did the same thing. that time i had the warranty on my vehicle but as soo as i went over with the warranty, they want to fix it. they gave estimated of $1200-1500. they said i have to change radar sensor. then i went to the second dealership and they said completely differently thing (4 clyender needed to change). then i went to the third dealership and they said my car fuel system has some problems. then i went to the out side shop they notified me that your car has manufacture problem. now my vehicle has engine light and gas mileage went down.

My new 2017 honda crv ex that only has 6850 miles driven on it has a terrible defect with oil dilution issues due to fuel leaking into the oil pans causing overflow and dilution to the oil that is supposed to be lubricating the engine. the oil smells very potent of fuel and almost 1 quart of extra fluid was drained from the oil pan when taken into the dealer after reporting the issue. the dealer agreed that there was a major issue with fuel diluting into the oil but were told by the honda corporate tech line that they were to just replace the oil until a fix comes out. the dealer technicians asked about changing the fuel injectors or maybe a cylinder head replacement but were told not to do anything. it is not safe to release these cars back to the owner knowing there is an defect issue that they didn't even really attempt to fix that is causing internal engine parts to break down faster than normal and could cause serious safety concerns due to eventual breakdowns leading to wrecks. the companies "fix" is to go in for an oil change every 500-1000 miles even though excessive fuel is still mixing with the oil. honda has reported that this is happening in colder climates, but i am still having major issues with this in tennessee weather.

There is a strong smell of gasoline on the dipstick when checking oil levels. oil levels are up to 1 inch above the highest measurable level on the dip stick. i had the oil analyzed and it showed >5% oil dilution. city gas mileage is 21-22 mpg -- way below advertised mpg. see attachments.

The vehicles oil gas a strong gasoline smell and the crankcase appears to be over filled . gasoline has migrated to the engine crankcase. original oil in vehicle at 5845 miles. the odor is under the hood and very strong at oil filler cap and on the oil in the crankcase.

Fuel in oil. strong smell of gasoline, watery oil, increasing levels of oil after oil change.

The oil in the crv is diluted with gasoline which was discovered on the first oil change for a new vehicle. the volume drained significantly exceeded the normal full oil capacities. the problem was reported to the local honda dealer which was serviced on 2/19/18. the dealer changed the oil once again, whiich was also diluted. all injectors were replaced at that time. on or about 3/28/18 our local service facility, pat's automotive in caribou, me, checked the oil which was again overfilled and contained gasoline. honda was again contacted and on 4/3/18 the oil was checked by the dealer, was over the full mark again, and was diluted with gasoline. the oil was changed once again. per the dealer, honda techline was contacted and they have no fix for the issue at this time and to change the oil as needed. the issue is very concerning as the engine of a new vehicle during the break in period that has gasoline diluting and displacing the oil can only result in a shortened engine life.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 honda cr-v. the contact stated that oil was mixing with the fuel. the dealer (vandergriff honda, 1104 w interstate 20, arlington, tx 76017, (817) 533-4266) noticed the failure and performed an oil change at no charge. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for another oil change 2,000 miles later. the contact had an oil sample sent off for diagnostic testing. the results showed over 5.3% of fuel in the oil and the contact was informed that any amount over 2% was indication of another failure. the manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vehicle be taken back to the dealer. the dealer stated that there was an unknown recall, but the contact's vehicle was not included. the dealer stated that the vehicle was designed in this manner. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 3,000.

An alarming amount of gasoline is leaking into the engine oil. also the car produces little heat when the heater is on.

2017 honda crv with 1.5 l turbo 4 cylinder engine. health hazard: noted gasoline fumes in cabin after starting the car. the fumes are coming in through the ventilation system. happening in both cold and hot weather. car has 30k miles on it. fumes noticed when car is stationary after starting it. also found to have gas entering oil pan, diluting the oil, and causing high oil levels. similar reports from many other owners of this vehicle with this engine and apparently a major recall in china for the problem. am concerned about hydrocarbon levels in the passenger cabin which can be a major health hazard. just because the fumes dissipate after a minute or so does not necessarily mean that the hydrocarbon levels in the cabin are normal for the rest of the ride. other major concern is premature wear on the engine due to gas mixing with oil. another concern is reports of crvs with this problem stalling at high speeds and failing to accelerate properly. honda usa has not addressed the problem as of this date nor have they offered any solutions. i feel like i wasted over $30k on a vehicle that is now unsafe and destined to premature engine failure. i think there needs to be a recall to fix this problem.

After smelling strong odor of gas,(car idling) called dealership and they told me to check oil level. the oil level was over full and smelled like gas . other honda vehicles which have the same 1.5t engine have reported the same issue here in the states. i am told honda recommends monitoring the oil level and changing it every 500 miles until this problem is remedied. what if someone doesn't realize their oil level is overfull and the oil system over pressurizes or the gas ignites inside the oil sump while driving? after researching this problem some honda cars using this same 1.5t engines in canada and china are also experiencing the same issue.

I checked the level of the oil on the dipstick and the level shows as being high, past the 'full" reference point with a few millimeters. also, the oil has a strong gas odor. the mileage on the engine is 8454, and the first oil change was performed at 6547 miles, 2 months ago.

My car developed the gas-in-oil problem that has been reported on. took to dealer, who opened a ticket with honda. problem continues, no fix offered yet. third party used oil analysis confirms the problem.

We purchased our honda crv ex-l in october of 2017, within 5 months we noticed a strong gasoline small in our cabin. one day i checked the oil level by pulling the dipstick and noticed that the oil level was 1 full inch above the full mark. i also noticed that the oil on the dipstick reeked of gas and was very dark and watery. i immediately did a google search of this issue, knowing that our last oil change was less than 3,000 miles ago from our local honda dealer and i was shocked with the results. thousands of owners with the 2017-2018 crv with the 1.5 liter turbo engine are having this exact same issue. the issue is called oil dilution and a large amount of gas is getting into the oil but the reasons are unknown. i immediately called my local dealer and had my car in the next day. they claimed they have never seen anything like this before as my oil had so much gasoline in it that it poured out like water. they scheduled a call with honda engineers the following monday and they were advised to change the oil and drive the car again. they did so and the gas volume filled up very quickly in the new oil so the next step was to replace the fuel injectors. based on my research online many other owners have had the same procedure performed which didn't fix the issue. however the injectors were replaced on my car and the vehicle was given back to me, claimed to have been fully fixed. needless to say less than 2 weeks after i got my vehicle back i checked the oil level and once again it's well above the full mark with a strong smell of gasoline. i've called honda corporate and their customer service just plain sucks. lack of empathy, lack of acknowledgement of this being a widespread issue and no resolution of concerns. i'm currently fighting with them, pleading to get a extension on the powertrain warranty as there is no doubt that engine damage has already occurred.

Persistent gas fume odor inside the car

Oil overfilling and smell of gasoline on dipstick. dealer changes oil and says there is no problem but a few hundred miles later the same problem occurs. this is causing engine damage.

Noticed gas fumes inside the vehicle soon after purchase in october 2017. at first noticed it after i fueled vehicle. thought maybe i had stepped in puddle of gasoline at the pumps. after a month realized the gas fumes got worse if i was idling my vehicle, especially, if i was parked for a half hour with car running(winter in central new york) while i ate my lunch. i can smell it outside around my vehicle when i pull my car into my garage at home. today i brought my vehicle to a honda dealership for an oil change. i asked them to look at my vehicle for a fuel leak since the fumes are so strong. i even asked them to idle the car and check it. they couldn't find anything in the half hour. they have asked me to bring it back and leave it for awhile next time. i have owned 3 honda vehicles before this and never experienced this problem before.

Engine oil is overfilling and being diluted with gas. strong gas smell. when changing oil, more than what was needed to fill engine oil to full

There's a gasoline odor inside the cars cabin and under the hood, no gas leaks are visible. the car hesitates during full throttle making it difficult to get out of someones way or enter the highway safely. .

Received 'important safety recall' (nhtsa recall 17v-442) dated 'january 2018' from honda automobile division (attached). recall related to various dangerous conditions which could result from manufacturing or design defect(s) relating to (gasoline) fuel system. accordingly, vehicle was taken to honda dealer for repair on 01/24/18 prior to appointment time of 10:15 a.m. honda service consultant was advised at the time the appointment was made that lessee or her representative would need to wait for the repair to be completed because of the long commute involved. per honda recall notice, the repair was to "... take approximately 1 hour 15 minutes." in fact, it took 3 hours 27 minutes. (see attached.) during the course of the repair, the service consultant advised lessee's representative that the technician "hasn't done one of these before", and that "i've got the shop foreman on it now." having obviously incompetent personnel handle such a repair is patently irresponsible and subjects consumers to unnecessary dangers, not to mention wasting consumers' time. honda obviously does not take its responsibilities to its customers seriously.

It smells like gas in the car

On several separate occasions the car has lost power and stalled while i was driving.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 honda cr-v. while the vehicle was stationary, there was a loud knocking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to ganley honda in north olmsted, ohio where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided the contact with case number: 06586790. the failure mileage was 470.

When turning on car, i intermittently smell strong odor of fuel inside the car. i brought car to honda dealer (car is less than 6 months old) and dealer stated "they didn't smell or see anything" and they did not take issue seriously and did not run any tests. i do not use "cheap gas" as dealer had suggested, and car was never in a garage any time when strong odor was present.

Gas in getting in crankcase oil on brand new engine. started from day one. it is washing down cylinder walls,, diluting the oil and causing premature engine failure. i am scared to death it will blow up at highway speeds and cause my death.

Fuel in oil dilution excessive amount of fuel in oil causing over fill and engine oil viscosity breakdown.

Engine oil smell like a gas,gas run into/mix with engine oil, engine oil level rising each week. definitely effect the vehicle use life. in the winter season, car heater has to wait a long time to get heat from air conditioner.

Gas is mixing in the oil of our new 2017 honda cr-v. the 1.5 liter engine does not warm up sufficiently in cold weather, runs rich, and leaves un-combusted gas in the oil. this triggers engine warning lights and requires frequent oil changes. engine performance and drivability suffer. this problem is also being reported on social media by other honda cr-v owners who drive in colder climates. we are concerned that it is causing long term damage to the engine of our new vehicle. i caution prospective buyers to postpone the purchase of a 2017 or newer honda cr-v with the 1.5 liter engine until honda solves to this problem. the fifth generation cr-v is an excellent car in many respects, but this is a major problem. i cannot recommend the car, particularly to those who drive in colder climates, until a fix is found. reuters reported in february that honda has announced a recall of 350,000 cr-v's in china for what appears to be a similar issue. we've driven our car for about six months, and it has less than 2,000 miles on it. we typically use the car for short drives within the city. our car was at the dealer for over two weeks when the problem first occurred. a field rep from honda was sent out to the dealer to try to assist. sensors and fuel injectors were replaced. the oil and filter was changed. at this time our engine had less than 1100 miles on it. these repairs did not correct the problem. in mid-january the engine warning lights were triggered again. our dealer noted the smell of gas in our oil and once again changed the oil and filter. we had less than 1500 miles on the car for this service. honda does not appear to have a solution to this problem. the oil and filter changes are a bandaid, and long term damage may be occurring to our engine. honda may have a major problem on its hands with the 1.5 liter engine.

Fuel is mixing in oil. the oil dipstick smells like gas and there is a gasoline smell in the cabin when the heat is on. honda calls it abnormal oil dilution. took it to the dealer he put documentation of oil smell on dipstick on receipt but said honda has no fix for this in kansas. called honda of america customer service referred to claim management team who said no fix for this in kansas and he "doesn't think it will hurt the engine" even immediatly after oil change the dipstick still smelled like gas even after wiping it. i believe that oil dilution can cause wear damage to an engine. i drive my crv 3 miles to work.

Since the purchase of our new 2017 honda cr-v, there has been gasoline getting into the engine oil. the oil level indicator or dip-stick shows the oil far above the full mark and there is an obvious strong oder of gasoline. when first starting the car, gasoline odors are very strong in the exhaust and sometimes within the car interior. gasoline is considered a solvent and it will reduce the life of the engine if it is always leaking into the engine oil. i'm very concerned about safety and an engine fire. i contacted the service department three times about the problem. at my last visit, honda finally acknowledge the problem a provided a software update. the problem remains unchanged. i'm very disappointed and frustrated with my new car and want some help getting it fixed or help with returning the car back to honda and reimbursed for the cost. the problem occurs all the time, in cold and warm weather.

Purchased 2017 honda crv exl with awd in october 2017. immediately after purchase, there was a loud knocking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. vehicle was taken to lia honda in williamsville, ny where i was told "that's just the sound of the fuel pump, turn your radio up." the sound progressively got louder so the vehicle was taken back to lia honda in december 2017. tech that heard the noise said "it sounded like the vehicle was in a crash, the sound was that bad." vehicle scheduled for repair in jan 2018. repair was made to vehicle in jan 2018 which included added insulation around gas tank and tightening of the gas tank straps. noise went away for approximately 1-2 weeks. noise is now back louder than ever as of feb 2018. car was taken back to lia honda again and we were told "honda told them not to touch the car" and that they "would not make any repairs to the vehicle." i am concerned there is something wrong with the safety system and it is not being taken seriously by honda or my dealership. i do not feel safe driving the car knowing the gas tank or fuel pump is knocking abnormally. the knocking noise happens all the time but is louder when there is a full tank of gas. the knocking can be heard best from the rear of the vehicle near the gas tank.

Oil volume increases over time. ok smells like gasoline and turns black. heater barely works in the winter. honda has acknowledged the problem and suggested more frequent oil changes due to fuel dilution. however they refuse to pay for the oil changes. i have documentation of the issue from my honda dealer.

Oil crank case is too high due to excess fuel in oil. this causes fuel smell in cabin and stalling of the engine. but more importantly, the engine will suffer from premature engine wear and failure due to lack of lubrication. this is not a cold weather issue as my dilution need happened in the summer and i only do highway driving with long duration. honda refuses to fix the problem.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 honda cr-v. while operating the vehicle, the odor of fuel was present inside the cabin. the fuel odor was also present inside the garage while the vehicle was parked with the engine turned off. the vehcile was taken to the dealer (lia honda of williamsville, ny), but the cause of the odor could not be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v442000 (fuel system). the contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. the failure mileage was 1,900.

For a second time we have taken the vehicle to the service department after having problems with it not having power to go past 2 rpms and pulling as if it has a problem with the fuel line. after having vehicle towed the first instanceon10/17/2017 they checked it and could find no evidence of anything gone wrong, the car was only 2 weeks old. this second incident comes 1 month later and now the brake system light came on and even though the gear shifter was in the correct position there were two letters on top of one another and blinking. we could only drive it up to 30 miles an hour without it pulling. there were no problems breaking.11/21/2017

With 4 hours of me owning the car, the emissions light came on. after some investigation with the dealer, there was rodent damage to the gas tank and wiring.

Everytime my 15 pound dog rides in this auto she begins to throwup after 15 or 20 minutes. this happens in no other car. i took to honda i quiring about a co2 issue. there was recall for just such a leak calling for the replacement of the entire fule line. i never recieved any notie regarding this recall. due to the dangerous nature of this issue i would like to i sure others are notified . if my 15 lb og was throwing up i would have to assume infants and child are lso becoming ill.
