I smell gasoline and checked the oil on several occasion. the gas fumes came from the oil check, gas in oil. i brought to covington la honda dealer today 11-29-2018 and the advised me that it is working as designed, and no problem was found at this time. i am concerned for safety reasons, fire and car stalling, as well as the fact that there is a recall on this but not in my area.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 honda cr-v. while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 35 mph and the check engine symbol illuminated. the contact called valley hi honda at (760) 962-9600 (located at 15710 valley park ln, victorville, ca 92394) and was informed to have the vehicle towed to the shop. the vehicle was towed to the same dealer where it diagnosed that the mass air flow was high. the technician added fuel conditioner, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the technician changed the oil and updated the computer system. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure was repaired. the failure mileage was 47,100.

Ist oil/filter change by dealer at 4k miles all appeared to be normal. 2nd oil/filter change by dealer at 8k miles oil level was excessively high over dipstick max fill mark by 1/2 inch and oil dipstick had intense gasoline smell and oil viscosity was extremely low. dealer says honda is investigating an 'oil dilution' issue with this engine type.

Excessive oil in sump. root cause is fuel mixed with oil.

I noticed a gas smell in my cabin of the car and checked the oil and noticed a gas smell there too. i looked it up online and there are a number of complaints of this issue but no recalls from honda. i am trying to get an appointment, but it's been difficult.

My 2017 cr-v ex-l has the oil dilution issue. currently reading 1.5 inches higher than the max fill line on the dipstick. vehicle smells so bad...like sulfur smell or gas. it is an overpowering smell and makes me nauseous. this can occur after idling for a few minutes, or after driving on a highway for 30 minutes. it is not just a short driving distance issue. honda has known about this issue for years, and yet continues to sell the vehicle. they have not come up with a fix that works. taking it in to the dealer tomorrow. after driving this for 2 years with this issue, i can only imagine the amount of damage on my engine. this is a safety issue. fumes that fill the inside of the vehicle are not healthy or safe. at some point, the oil issue could be a fire hazard or the engine could fail at any moment. why is honda not being forced to fix this with a recall and/or buy back these vehicles?

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 honda cr-v. the contact stated that the fuel was contaminating the engine oil. a test of the vehicle oil was sent to blackstone laboratory and it was determined that 2.3 percent of fuel was mixing with the oil. the vehicle was taken to jeff fyler honda of florence (located at 949 burlington pike, florence, ky 41042, (859) 283-2727), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and provided case number: 09075248. the contact was referred to nhtsa. the approximate failure mileage was 17,500.

I discovered fuel in the oil of my 2017 turbo honda cr v when checking the oil level. i have approximately 2500 miles since my last oil change. i took the car to beaverton honda on 11/16/2018 to check it out. they "verified customer's concerns of fuel in engine oil." they also "adjusted oil level" and then referred me to a honda video on youtube. it would appear that they simply removed good oil to make room for more gas in the oil. this is unacceptable and dangerous.. apparently, honda does not have a fix for this issue.

Oil dillustion gas getting in oil only 1000 miles since last oil change only 15000 on car dealer has no fix oil smells like gas

Engine oil was 1 quart overfull. oil smells like gasoline. engine oil visibly thinner than normal. reportedly, this problem is systemic with cr-v's as ours with the turbo 4 cylinder. the gasoline should be evaporating due to engine temp; but, it's not -- as a result the gasoline dilutes the engine oil and causes the oil level to rise.

Crankcase is filling with gasoline from the cylinders causing a high level on the oil dipstick (approx.1/2 inch above the high mark) also known as oil dilution.oil had no viscosity when i changed it and it reaked of gasoline.two different honda dealers and american honda customer service all acknowledged that there aware of the issue but they haven't come up with a remedy yet.meanwhile my vehicles engine and i am sure thousands more are being prematurely abused and worn because of gasoline (solvent) in the oil.honda needs to make this right and soon!

Oil level was noticeably higher and had a fuel smell to it. we did take it to the dealership they said there no fix for it as of now but to change my oil more often.

Vehicle loses power under acceleration. oil dilution seems to be the aparent cause. oil level is way above the 'max' level in the oil dipstick. strong gas smell in the cabin. problem is widespread among owners of this vehicle (1.5 turbo engine). honda says 'it's normal', but then promises that 'problem is going to be fixed in next year model'.

I have been noticing a fuel smell in the passenger cabin. it seems to be a major issue. i have been told from the dealer to change the oil and let the car warm up longer. that's the fix. come on honda. this is ridiculous. you nhtsa need to make sure honda is held totally responsible.

Engine oil has a strong smell of fuel. vehicle was brought in to the dealer, dealer advised me that they needed to upgrade the system. the upgrade has not fix the problem and the vehicle still has a strong odor of fuel coming from the engine oil dipstick. everytime i would fill up with gas, the gas meter displays fewer and fewer mileage range on a full tank.

Smell of gasoline inside cabin all winter. filing this complaint regarding the design flaw that mixes gasoline with oil.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 honda cr-v. the contact stated that after the vehicle was serviced at apple honda (2219, 1212 loucks rd, york, pa 17404. 717-848-2600), he checked his oil and it was a dark color and it smelt like fuel. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed the failure and stated that it was normal and the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that they were aware of the failure but no remedy was available at this time. the failure mileage was approximately 17,000. the vin was not available.

Fuel is getting in engine oil and deluting it. 1.5 turbo engine. call honda of america they said to take to dealer for inspection. honda gave me a case number. dealer change oil told to keep a watch on it. called honda back with case number they said honda has no fix at this time. i was told just to watch for something on the internet to see if there was going to be a fix. meanwhile my engine in being damaged by not having proper oil lubercation from fuel being in oil

I was driving north on hwy 86 from the city of imperial ca. when i set my cruise control at 65 mph suddenly start going up and down with the speed ( going up to 67 and down to 64) with no vehicles in front of me. i arrive to my house and after hearing problems with the stalling on the cr-v models , my husband check the oil and it smell a lot to gasoline.

At 6,000 miles engine is experiencing oil dilution. oil is above max level on dipstick and smells strongly of gas, vehicle was cold and stationary when oil level was checked. called a nearby honda service center and they advised that the vehicle should be brought in for an oil change. the vehicle was just in for scheduled maintenance (including an oil change) 1,000 miles ago. an automobile should not require an oil change after 1,000 miles of use.

After reading a consumer reports article about gasoline in the oil, asking owners to check oil level, i did it and found out that the oil level was about one inch above the maximum mark. i also noticed that the tip of the dipstick smells of gasoline. i checked the oil level in the morning before the car was driven since yesterday. please see the attached picture of the dipstick.

Excessive fluid in oil pan and strong smell of gasoline when having my oil changed. oil change was done at valvoline service center

I occasionally noticed the smell of gasoline around the car. when i checked the oil level it was about 1/4 in. above the full mark on the dipstick. i took the car to the dealer (scott honda of west chester) where they confirmed the high oil level and noted the smell of gasoline in the oil. i was told this is a known problem with the turbo engine but honda did not have a fix available. the dealer called honda america and was authorized to change the oil under warranty.

Check engine light comes on after putting gas in (fueling) hesitation while driving, vehicle has less than 15,000 miles, have taken vehicle to dealer several times, explained what was going on, they insist the codes read o2 sensor and seal, still not fixed.

When driving and approaching to enter to a highway when you have to speed up the cr-v hesitates to build speed and somewhat stalls even when flooring the throttle pedal. incoming traffic suddenly need to lower their speed and i became concerned that they possibly could hit me. the cr-v resumed to build up speed and function properly but at a great expense of being utterly nervous when this could haplen again. the unit was just serviced for oil and filter and inspected. what should i do?

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 honda cr-v. the contact stated that fuel was detected inside the vehicle and in the engine oil without warning. the contact called love honda at (352) 628-4600 (located at 2219 s suncoast blvd, homosassa, fl 34448) and was informed to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 5,968.

On 10-11-18 i received an email from consumer reports which included an article about issues with honda's 1.5 turbo engines. i had recently been noticing engine response lag, on my 2017 crv touring, so i went out and checked my oil level. i immediately noticed a fuel smell on the dip stick. the oil level was approximately 1 inch over the top mark. (till now i had not noticed an issue when checking oil level periodically since my 6-19-2018 oil change). i called the service dept. at my honda dealership and was scheduled for an appointment on 10/18/2018. they scheduled me for an oil change. when i arrived for the appointment the service rep. said he had just talked to their honda rep. who confirmed the issue and was told that a fix was to be rolled out in november 2018. i have been checking the oil level periodically since the october service and it has been creeping up regularly. as of 11-16-18 the oil level is again above the orange plastic piece that contains the high/low markings. i am very concerned about short and long-term damage to the engine and overall safety. this is our 7th new honda and was expecting this to be our travel vehicle for many years.

Fuel getting in oil, level is high on dipstick, smells like gas on dipstick and in car when its cold outside.

Gas is mixing in with my oil causing it to dilute oil.

At 15,000 miles, i have found that gasoline is contaminating the crankcase oil even though i do not live in a cold climate or drive very short distances. my local honda dealer has confirmed this problem but has no fix and has received no guidance from honda.

I purchased my car from brown's honda 712 crain highway, glen burnie, md 21061 on june 20,2017. on october 6, 2018 ibecame aware of a very serious problem with my car that has the new 1.5 l turbocharged engine. i noticed that the oil level, as shown on the dip stick, was at least 0.5 inches above the top fill mark. i immediately drained the oil and discovered that the volume of oil was 4.75 quarts or 28% above the car's specification of 3.7 quarts. the drained oil was very black in color and to the touch felt less viscous than new 0-20 oil. it appears that the increased volume is due to gasoline mixing with the oil. on oct 6,2018 (current odometer reading11467 miles) the oil had run in the engine for about 5400 miles. my first oil change at the dealer was at 6000 miles on 4/16/2018. as you are aware, dilutionof the oil with gasoline is a serious problem that will inevitably lead to premature engine failure and operability/safety problems in the future such as stalling. i visited the brown's honda dealership today 10/8/2018 and explained the issue stated above. the service director, advised me to keep checking the oil level and come back if any running issues occur. the dealer isunable to correct the issue of gasoline leaking into the oil.this problem substantially impairs the future value of my car and potentially it's safety. gasoline in the engine oil will lead to premature engine failure.

Honda has over 19,000 miles and read about gas in oil. as a former mech. i checked dipstick and yep, can smell gasoline in oil. checked another suv i have to be sure not crazy and gas is present.

Gas in oil

2 separate concerns! in the past year there have been several occasions that i smelled gasoline inside the vehicle. when first entering after the car had been parked. this occurred during the past 6 to 8 months. strong odor. there is gasoline mixing with the engine oil. when you check the oil level it is always way overfilled. it is overfilled due to the gasoline mixing with the engine oil. lubricating oil is being mixed with solvent - gas. there is the very strong odor of gas as soon as you pull the oil dipstick. the honda dealership did not make any repair, this is noted on my work order.

Upon starting my 2017 honda crv which has the 1.5l turbocharged engine, i smell an odor of gasoline. the gasoline odor is also perceived driving or stopped at a stop light.

I have observed high oil levels and raw fuel odors on the dip stck, along with raw fuel odors in the cabin. i know honda is aware of the issue but has offered no guidance. tell they have a fix in place, honda should be giving free oil changes to prevent engine damage and premature wear and tear.

Oil dilution. strong gas smell in the cabin and coming from the exhaust system in cold morning start. oil level is higher and above the max line on the dip stick.

Gasoline mixing into engine oil - 1.5 liter engine. first noticed at 3000 miles, now again at 7700 miles.

Sometimes, i am able to smell odor of gasoline during driving in the cabin from last winter season. it is getting worse during these days. i found 2017-2018 cr-v engine has problem which engine oil mixes with gasoline. i checked oil level and it is really increased and i could smell gasoline with engine oil. how can i solve this problem? i am not able to find recall information. i think it is quite severe and affect to driving and car maintenance.

We are experiencing the same fuel dilution in the engine oil that many other owners with 2017-18 cr-vs with the 1.5t engine are experiencing. we live in va. i feel as though i don't need to go into details as this issue is so well known, prompted a ban on sales of the vehicle in china, etc. they keep pushing back the recall and now announced for the first two months, it will only be available in select northern states. a simple search through complaints shows that this problem is not isolated to the northern states, it may be exacerbated by significantly cold weather, but the way they are rolling out a recall is not acceptable. it's unsafe (causes stalling vehicles on the highway and in traffic, which is most definitely a safety concern) and causes premature wear on the engine (a consumer protection issue). nhtsa needs to step up and accelerate enforcement action, e.g. make them accelerate the recall to all of their customers, not just just arbitrary classification and order based on whether or not you live on one side of a state line or the other. it gets cold in va too. the honda dealer basically told us we're out of luck until the recall, and to keep changing the oil.

Oil-dilution problem ,oil level on dip stick is way above high mark on dip stick and smell fuel on dip stick

Gas smell after turning motor off, gas in engine oil

Oil is getting diluted with gas and you can smell gas fumes in the cabin making the cr-v unsafe.

Fuel is mixing with the motor oil and diluting it. oil level rises above the full mark on the oil dipstick and has an odor of fuel. i had a professional oil analysis performed that confirmed that the oil is being diluted and viscosity lost. a copy is attached. the flash point also is reduced. this problem could affect engine performance and become a safety issue. the problem is ongoing. the date given is the date of the attached report.
