Periodic gasoline smell in the cabin of the vehicle, most notably when it is very cold. also, high oil level with the appearance of gasoline mixing with the engine oil. to date, vehicle has not stalled or left me stranded. complaint filed with american honda motor company and dealer visit scheduled to evaluate.
I have had the brakes engage twice through the collision avoidance system with no other vehicles around me.dangerous as i could be rear ended.and the oil level rises with fuel dilution and gas fumes enter the passenger compartment.vehicle misfired and shutdown on highway dangerous situation and breathing gas fumes.
The vehicle does not heat up when idling which mean remote start to clear the ice from the windshield and warm the cabin does not work. honda told me it has to be driven to produce heat. they've replaced the thermostat and flushed the cooling system. i have to drive to work down a decline for 8 miles. after 4 miles the engine gauge begins to rise and then by the time i reach 8 miles (bottom of the hill) the engine temperature gauge bottoms out back down to the cold. the heat that may have started how ever feeble is now once again cold. any ice on the windows is still there because the whole car inside is still cold. if it wasn't for the heated seats i'd freeze to death. the service manager came to take my car one morning and saw this happen. he was told by honda the engine doesn't produce heat with out a load on it. this vehicle should never have been sold north of ohio. it is unsafe. i also have a strong gasoline smell in my oil that will soon be taken in for. also, the safety features all become inactive because of a little rain or snow. the honda dealer recalibrated them but it still happens. the lack of heat on idle is unacceptable though.
January 6th, 2018 car smelled of eggs and gas. drove car 70 miles the emmisions and engine light came on and car was towed from a busy hwy 61 mn to honda service center. they had crv for 3 weeks. changed oil & programmed injectors the oil had 1quart over of gas mixed into the oil. 700 miles later and car now has gas mixed into oil again and over the orange dipstick and smells of very strong gas. a service appointment made for march 14th, 2018 for oil change, rattle in the dash behind head unit and the heat problem as well. the no heat for winter driving with frozen windshield before driving and while driving is very dangerous! breaking down on a interstate hwy is also dangorus waiting 4 hours with no heat in car at -1 temp waiting for tow is dangorus. not happy about this at all!
Our 2017 honda crv exl has a climate control issue when temperatures get below freezing and the problem gets worse as the temperature lowers. the vehicle engine will not warm up and of course the climate control will not warm up the vehicle cabin. the only way we can get any heat inside the vehicle is by circulating inside air but when you do that, the windows fog up and of course you have to use a rag to keep fog off windows. honda will not acknowledge theres a problem. this is a dangerous situation because most of our driving is town driving and windows fogging over is a constant problem when circulating inside air.
Strong odor of fuel or oil while driving at speed on freeway. this happened twice and lasted about 5 minutes each time, the mileage at the time was between 5,000 and 8 thousand. the vehicle now has 18,000 and has not had a recurrence since but at 12,000 miles [ 4,000 miles after the first oil change ] i noticed the oil level on the dip stick was about a half an inch over the full limit. i took it to the dealer and they were aware of the problem but did not have a fix at the time. they changed the oil at that time and again at about 17,000 miles at which time they said they had a partial fix for the problem. it now has 19,000 and still has the same problem. i would think sooner or later it's going to have problems with the engine that could cause safety concerns.
Smell of gas in the garage after leaving windows down. then later noticed it again in the cabin 2-3 different times which my son was visiting at the time and smelled it in the garage again. he checked the oil and we could smell gas, i made an appointment with dealership on 1-8-19 was told there was no recall and mechanic couldn't smell gas on dip stick which i got the manager involved and he told me the problem is more so in the northern states were it's cold. he too said he couldn't smell gas but changed my oil ( which had already been changed recently)..was told nothing they could do unless oil light came on or started having engine problems or till a recall comes here. i haven't noticed the smell since warmer weather has come in. love the car but scary when it comes to gas and the engine which "again" was assured wasn't a danger to me. Engine stalled multiple times in last one year when accelerating from yeld/stop. it happed twice while yielding and merging onto highways; we were lucky there were no vehicles on highway during merging, otherwise situation would have the worst . also all warning lights on the dash board flashes with failure warnings. at that point engine almost stalled running only at speed of 10 m/h atleast which helped me to pull off the highway. i switched off and on, engine came live, but all the warning lights were still there. warnings on the dashboard were cleared only next day after whole night idle. i took the vehicle to honda dealer, explained the problem and also provided them the video that my friend sitting in the passenger seat recorded while incident happened. dealership tried to pull the error code, but none were found. dealer asked me to keep the vehicle with dealership as they need to reproduce the issue. fortunately they reproduced the exact same issue, and found the engine cylinder misfires in 1 and 4. they intimated honda engineering for assistance, and honda assisted them to recalibrate the system without finding the root cause. dealership recalibrated and directed by honda and told me that if the issue happens again that will be fixed under warranty. all these transcripts were recorded in service history of my vehicle. the same issue appeared yesterday again. when i researched about the issue on internet, most of them complained about the enginle oil and gas mixup. i checked my oil level with oil check stick provided by honda, and oil levels are way above than max mark and oil smells like gasoline; and more over the oil look very thin almost like water thickness.
Gas is getting into the oil.
Oil dilution problem; we have experienced the burning of gas/oil smell in the interior from the purchase date of the car, engine oil smells like gas, oil level high on dip stick, cold in our state, drive car plenty of miles each day at 65-70 miles per hour - should be burning off gas, recent oil change at 15% oil life - oil was high on dip stick past fill mark. contacted honda. made complaint. they said our state was not covered in recall because our state is not cold enough. they said we need to take our crv to honda dealership. i have made an appointment with dealership.
Engine oil smell like a gas,gas run into/mix with engine oil, engine oil level rising each week. definitely effect the vehicle use life. in the winter season, car heater has to wait a long time to get heat from air conditioner.
Gas is mixing in the oil of our new 2017 honda cr-v. the 1.5 liter engine does not warm up sufficiently in cold weather, runs rich, and leaves un-combusted gas in the oil. this triggers engine warning lights and requires frequent oil changes. engine performance and drivability suffer. this problem is also being reported on social media by other honda cr-v owners who drive in colder climates. we are concerned that it is causing long term damage to the engine of our new vehicle. i caution prospective buyers to postpone the purchase of a 2017 or newer honda cr-v with the 1.5 liter engine until honda solves to this problem. the fifth generation cr-v is an excellent car in many respects, but this is a major problem. i cannot recommend the car, particularly to those who drive in colder climates, until a fix is found. reuters reported in february that honda has announced a recall of 350,000 cr-v's in china for what appears to be a similar issue. we've driven our car for about six months, and it has less than 2,000 miles on it. we typically use the car for short drives within the city. our car was at the dealer for over two weeks when the problem first occurred. a field rep from honda was sent out to the dealer to try to assist. sensors and fuel injectors were replaced. the oil and filter was changed. at this time our engine had less than 1100 miles on it. these repairs did not correct the problem. in mid-january the engine warning lights were triggered again. our dealer noted the smell of gas in our oil and once again changed the oil and filter. we had less than 1500 miles on the car for this service. honda does not appear to have a solution to this problem. the oil and filter changes are a bandaid, and long term damage may be occurring to our engine. honda may have a major problem on its hands with the 1.5 liter engine.
Fuel is mixing in oil. the oil dipstick smells like gas and there is a gasoline smell in the cabin when the heat is on. honda calls it abnormal oil dilution. took it to the dealer he put documentation of oil smell on dipstick on receipt but said honda has no fix for this in kansas. called honda of america customer service referred to claim management team who said no fix for this in kansas and he "doesn't think it will hurt the engine" even immediatly after oil change the dipstick still smelled like gas even after wiping it. i believe that oil dilution can cause wear damage to an engine. i drive my crv 3 miles to work.
Since the purchase of our new 2017 honda cr-v, there has been gasoline getting into the engine oil. the oil level indicator or dip-stick shows the oil far above the full mark and there is an obvious strong oder of gasoline. when first starting the car, gasoline odors are very strong in the exhaust and sometimes within the car interior. gasoline is considered a solvent and it will reduce the life of the engine if it is always leaking into the engine oil. i'm very concerned about safety and an engine fire. i contacted the service department three times about the problem. at my last visit, honda finally acknowledge the problem a provided a software update. the problem remains unchanged. i'm very disappointed and frustrated with my new car and want some help getting it fixed or help with returning the car back to honda and reimbursed for the cost. the problem occurs all the time, in cold and warm weather.
Since purchasing my honda cr-v 1.5 turbo in 2017 i have experienced two episodes of my car stalling out while driving on nyc streets. on both of these occasions i narrowly avoided getting rear ended and being forced into the car in front of me, due to the fact that the car behind me swerved to avoid colliding into me. i have also experienced many failures of my honda sense system whereby my adaptive cruise control system failed, my road departure mitigation system failed, where my audio power went off, my auto high beam system had failures, which lead me to feel very uneasy driving my vehicle. at all times, my vehicle was in motion. i have experienced these system failures while driving on city streets as well as while driving on country roads and also while driving on highways! this was not a one time occurrence. these things have happened many times!
Oil volume increases over time. ok smells like gasoline and turns black. heater barely works in the winter. honda has acknowledged the problem and suggested more frequent oil changes due to fuel dilution. however they refuse to pay for the oil changes. i have documentation of the issue from my honda dealer.
Oil crank case is too high due to excess fuel in oil. this causes fuel smell in cabin and stalling of the engine. but more importantly, the engine will suffer from premature engine wear and failure due to lack of lubrication. this is not a cold weather issue as my dilution need happened in the summer and i only do highway driving with long duration. honda refuses to fix the problem.
Vehicle: 2017 honda crv touring - 5 miles when purchased on 05/01/2017 - 2,000 miles when i first noticed there was a problem. i am at about 6,000 miles now. initially i noticed a clicking sound emanating from the engine get louder over time. additionally, in the winter, heat took a long time to come on. i was following a crv forum (hondacrvowners.com) and noticed a lot of people start mentioning fuel in the oil. then saw news articles about a huge crv recall in china's cold climate areas with the same symptoms. i then began checking the oil frequently and noticed a definite fuel smell on the dipstick and rising above the full mark. i have not noticed a fuel smell in the cabin, fortunately, as some have complained about, but this is not good for an engine. two honda dealers have told me they are aware of the issue, but not to worry about it and to check the oil since no lights are on and scans show no problem. of course! no problems yet, but most drivers don't check their oil and won't notice a problem until the engine completely fails and puts the occupants' lives in danger.
Oil has strong smell of gas, and oil level consistently rises over time until oil change completed. around 500 miles after oil change the gas smell returns and continues to get stronger while also increasing the oil level well above the low and high on the dipstick. has happened for over a year since i first discovered many other 2017/2018 crv owners discussing the problem online.
Engine oil overfilled. car has stalled on occasion. vehicle safety features (honda sensing) failed completely while driving in bad weather...snow and rain.

2017 crv awd 2 months into owning all lights on dash like brake system engine air bags, tirer, brake. i see spots of oil driveway but oil is always full. stalls sometimes when taking off. the other day the back wheels locked up causing the suv to stop in middle of road, and couldnt move forward or backwards. the suv swag side to side causing backend to slide sisde to side. making it very hard to keep the suv on the road. i have called about the dash lights all of them on and they said it needed to be rest. smell gas inside the suv. i had a 2006 honda civic brought it new i never had a problem out of it going 300,000 miles with no problems thats why i chose to get another honda, but with 2017 honda crv has been hell with all the issues and is a safety concern.

Gasoline dillution of engine oil
Frequent noxious gas fumes in the cabin of the vehicle. often when the vehicle is sitting idle, or starting, there is a strong smell of gas in the cabin. this issue began a couple weeks after purchasing the vehicle (february 3) and has happened most recently on may 28. the incident on may 28 was so toxic that i developed a headache and had to open all windows to try to relieve the issue.
We bought our crv from honda of fife on 9 april 2017. since that time, our car has had three stalls. the first two were during the month of may, 2017 as we were travelling at slow rates of speed in blizzard and heavy snow conditions in montana and alberta; the temperatures were mild, for snow storms, probably in the mid to high 20s f. in both of these instances, the visibility was about 100' and we were alone on these roads; however, it would have been very dangerous to be parked in the middle of the road if anyone else had been coming out of the white of the storm; in both instances, the car restarted immediately. i'd thought the issue might be poor or frozen fuel so didn't report the issue to honda. the third time the crv stalled was on the i-10 bridge over the mississippi at baton rouge, la.in march of 2018.the temperature was in the 60s. in this case, we were in very slow, stop and go traffic, in a very tight, narrow lane due to construction; there were no turn outs or verges. as we started the climb up the west side of the bridge, the car stalled , there were no stop lights or brakes applied as i had no warning the car was going to quit and the car behind me, barely stopped before rear ending us. it started again immediately and we did not create a long term impediment to the flow of traffic. again, i did not report this issue as i thought it might be poor fuel. american honda has confirmed that there is a problem with gas getting into the engine oil too; a dealer noted that our oil smelled of gas; we do not know the long term affects on the engine or any hazards the condition poses. *js *tr
Gasoline gets into engine oil. oil dipstick shows oil level .5 to 1.0 quarts over full level after 2200 miles of driving. oil is very black and watery and smells of gasoline.
Oil dilution. my vehicle has been inspected by my dealer and has been determined that gas is diluting the oil. this is happening about every 500 miles in warm 70+ degree weather, but happens sooner in colder weather. because it's a pain to constantly replace the oil and filter, i have only been doing it every 500 miles. i do check the dipstick every so often to monitor the fluid level in the engine.
Current miles = 4k. 1= battery went dead several times, was told update was done because issue w/parking brake circuitry. 2= various driver assist warning lights come on intermittently on dash.-issue not identified nor fixed. (ongoing) 3= recently pulled over by police nighttime-no tail lights, though front lights worked- driver of car was not familiar w/car- police fiddled w/ lightswitch got them working told driver to take it to dealer-no ticket issued. 4= noticeable lack of acceleration, fuel odor about vehicle, also sulphur smell after driving, heat does not warm cabin, nor defrost.defog windshield properly, oil black and overfull. oil changed, issues reoccur within a few driving miles (50-100). one dealer blames the other, honda says they didn't know of issues, dealer finally confirmed gas in oil. again-there is only 4k miles on this 'vehicle'. all these issues relate to safety, either to anyone inside the vehicle or others on the road. i have no confidence in driving this (paying more attention to cluster, driving subtleties etc than traffic), and am very upset in paying the payment each month while hearing the 2 dealers blame each other, and while honda shrugs their shoulders. i am taking it, once again, to the dealer this saturday for an 'update' to the software-per honda case mgr naomi xt 87075. documentation can be provided on request-- i am out of time and patience. there are many more people with these documented issues on this vehicle than are being reported here- (see google and social media). i dread having to drive it saturday nine miles to the dealer. this is the top selling car in its class-- there is a major problem being driven daily on the highways of the usa. my issues began april 2017 (purchases 3/30/2017) and have been ongoing through dec 2018. please help!!
Rodents keep chewing through air hoses for the emissions system. it's happened twice in a week despite traps, rodent deterrent, etc.
