The rear of my vehicle's clear coat paint is cracking and peeling. there are crows feet and cracking on the rear quarter panels, panel connecting the quarter panels to the roof, and the right rear door. honda only offered to pay 25% of the cost to repair when it has already been admitted that the clear coat paint they used is defective. unacceptable. *tr

I was turning on from a left lane into a left lane separated by a cement divider; the car went over the cement divider and almost overturned. at night with normal lighting and normal speed. i have had another incident 3 months prior making a right turn. i noticed carefully by comparison of the exact position of similar make sedan cars; this car has the mirror attached to the door panels and presents a hazard (has 2 blind spots) making it especially dangerous at night with low beam lights and old painted divider lines. it needs immediate action and recall so the dealers can reposition the mirrors. *tr

Around early 2013 i started having issues with the clear coat cracking and clouding up on several areas of the car's body. i almost always take the car to the honda dealership for service, and i asked them about this a few different times. they said i might be washing the car too much and that i should try not to park it in the sun so much. this problem got worse and worse over the next 24 months and right now the car looks like it's 25 years old due to how bad the paint looks. i recently found out through internet research that honda issued a technical service bulletin (campaign # 14-034, entitled: paint chalking, cracking, clouding warranty extension) that extended the warranty for the paint. but i never got anything in the mail from honda, and the dealership people had just kept saying the paint problem was my fault. when i asked the dealership to repair the paint, they said the warranty was expired and that it was too bad for me, so sorry.

This is not a safety issue, but an issue of quality. i've noticed a problem with the paint on my 2008 honda civic. it all began with a dull spot on the trunk and worsened with dull spots on the roof. i contacted honda customer service with no avail. *tr

The paint is oxidizing and flaking off even though the car was washed and waxed regularly. *tr

Paint on my black 2008 honda civic is fading on the roof, trunk, sides and hood. *tr

I noticed that 2 days ago it was raining inside my car i bought the car brand new off of the lot in 2008. the areas that are leaking/collecting water are where the side front airbag is located, along with the windshield, and side of the door. called the dealer they are telling me that my warranty has expired therefore i will need to replace the windshield and other components (roof, airbags, etc.) the car has never been in an accident or anything and now i am almost scared to drive it since they are telling me that it is the windshield i am petrified that it will implode soon. this seems extremely dangerous now i am unsure that if i get in an accident because of the water what if my airbag won't work upon impact? what happens if the windshield implodes while i am driving this issue is an accident waiting to happen. *tr

When i bought my honda civic, the blue color was one of the reasons i chose it. had i known the paint job was going to fade after only 4 years, i probably would've chosen a different color or even a different make. is there a recall for this problem?. *jb

My 2008 honda civic has a notorious problem: defective sun visors that drop down, covering more than half the vertical space of the windshield in front of the driver. the problem, which involves a metal bar that expands in hot weather and forces apart the two sides of the plastic visor, is prone to happen in hot weather. this is the fourth time it has happened to me. a california superior court ruling requires honda to replace these as needed up to 100,000 miles. however, the safety issue remains unaddressed. the replacement is the same as the failed visor, and it too will fail in about 10,000 miles (or less, in severe climates). two screws hold the visor to the roof of the car. can't honda be require to design a new visor without this defect (requires only making the channel for the metal bar wider) and replace the visors with an improved version on all affected honda civics (2006-2009)? it is not fun viewing the road ahead by peeking around and under the dropped visor. honda civics have a severely slanted windshield, and the vertical viewing space is limited without a failed visor. *tr

About a year ago i started noticing large white patches on the roof of my honda ( black). i thought perhaps something had scratched it. now, a year later, it has worsened. the car looks about 10 years old, the paint is faded throughout, the roof is covered in white patches. *tr

The paint started to peel and white areas appeared all over the body of my new grey honda civic. i took it to my dealership and they determined that the paint was defective. i got a second opinion who also said that the paint was defective and there was an thermal issue during the initial application process. i took it to the dealership i bought it and they said they would repaint only certain areas and said i was responsible for the rental car. i told them i wasn't comfortable with partially painting the car, that the older paint was also defective and would obviously fade too. they said it wasn't their problem and they wouldn't do it. i will never trust honda again. *tr

Paint job peeling

The drivers side visor stuck and crack opened the plastic assembly by which it holds itself to the visors metal rod in the ceiling. after removal the thing that makes the visor swivel front and back is in fact the thing stuck(metal clip) and seems it may not be secured to the visor which at some point will brake the visor open as it happened , the passengers side visor is starting to get tight. *tr

The black paint on top of the roof of my civic has a white fading haze. *tr

The paint is cracking and chipping the oil bracket nut is leaking and weak (can cause fire to burn faster than normal) the air bag on left is defective

The front of hood and fender area . paint is chipping away. it is called crow's feet. lines and chips along with cracks are very visible to the naked eye. honda has a tsb about it, since a lot of people have the same issue but they only claim to take responsibility of the vehicle that have protection plan. when i bought the vehicle they never offered me, nor speak of protection plan. so what can i do? *tr

The clear coat is flaking off. *tr

The clearcoat paint is peeling on the roof and trunk and other areas of the car are looking dull like they will peel soon too. this car has been well taken care of and there is no reason for this happening, other than defective paint. although this is not safety related, this is a very expensive to fix problem that should be covered by the manufacturer. *tr

The paint on the roof of my honda civic started to fade in two spots and then the spot grew larger and is now down to the metal. i visited the dealership and the service manager took pictures and was going to send them to the area representative and get back to me. after i did not hear from him, i called and found out that he was no longer with the dealership so i asked for the new service manager. i left several messages and made a personal visit and the new service manager was busy when i was there and he never bothered to return my calls. after checking this on the internet, i see that this is ongoing problem that honda has had and cannot find out what, if anything honda has or is doing about it. *tr

As i was driving down the street my bumper just popped off and started to fall off nothing was hit i need to know if the rest of the car is going to fall off is it a safety concern as bus driver i am a very safe driver if i'm going to die as the car falls apart i need to know.... *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda civic. the contact stated that the plastic cover, located in the center of the steering wheel where the air bag was located, was cracked. the crack extended approximately seven inches. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that the failure was caused by excessive exposure to sun light. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 30,000. updated 09/15/15*lj the consumer stated an expensive sun shield has been on the windshield, since the vehicle was new. the consumer did not believe the damage was due to sun exposure. updated 04/07/16. *jb

I was driving my 2008 honda civic when my visor swung down and partially blocked my vision. upon looking at the visor, i noticed the back had cracked open and the visor would no longer close. eventually i just removed the visor so i would not have to deal with it any longer. *tr

I reported to honda of america that the clear coat paint on my vehicle had begun splitting throughout the hood and fenders. honda of america recommended that i take it in to be evaluated by the service team and service manager at my local dealership. i took my vehicle in to earnhardt honda in avondale, arizona, the end of december 2011. i belong to a honda civic enthusiast forum called 8thcivic.com. hundreds of members there with civics in the color of nighthawk black pearl and fiji blue pearl have noticed this phenomena and have posted pictures of there vehicle. this has sparked some debate over why honda has not admitted to and taken responsibility for issues regarding paint on the 06-11 models. i've heard paint experts on the message board state that the clear coat is cracking, called "crows feet" due to a defective clear coat that was applied during manufacturing. this mixed with the heat of the engine bay caused the clear coat to separate and crack. the long term effects of this will basically be the paint bubbling and wearing away. i've hard my car for only 2 years, and it had 38k miles on it when i brought it to the dealership. since that time the dealership has been ignoring my calls and honda of america has been running me around in circles to no avail. *tr

Rodents eat wires, fuel, brake lines. it seems the car companies have started using a newer material to replace the common plastic used in wire insulation and tubing with a soy based product. this newer product has attracted squirrels and other rodents which eat this material. this is not only a safety issue it's also a hazard as there is no way to prevent this. any number of things can happen to cause a major accident due to this very bad choice of material used. one only has to search google to see how wide spread this problem is. i typed in "squirrel ate my honda wires" and came up with pages and page of complaints. the first one in the results given is a person that had two new honda cars and both were disabled due to this. *tr

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) purchased 2008 honda civic sedan vin [xxx] , paid cash, under warranty in 2008. front bumper cover falls off. defective design, latent defect. road hazard if it falls off in traffic. honda of hollywood has refused to repair under warranty. *tr

The hush panel under the instrument panel has started to droop, causing it to come in contact with the top of my shoe when i move my foot from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal. the hush panel was not designed with enough retaining clips to avoid this interference. *tr

The paint on my 2008 honda civic si a few months after i bought it. the dealer told me that it was from rocks. there are paint chips on the car where it is not possible for a rock to hit it. they refused to fix the problem and said that a rep would contact me. i've been complaining about the paint for 2 yrs and have not heard from any honda rep. i've put touch-up paint on the car to prevent the car from rusting but the touch-up paint won't even stay on. when i first bought the car i had it "simonized" in the hopes that the paint would be protected. guess i was wrong and now i don't know what to do. my car is rusting out and it's only 2 yrs old. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda civic. the bumper is hanging from the vehicle. the inspector from the honda dealer stated that the undercarriage of the vehicle was scraped. he believes the failure occurred when the vehicle came off of the delivery truck. the dealer stated that they never inspected the vehicle and the bumper failure was her fault. the current mileage was 900 and failure mileage was 137.
