We have classified the 14 complaints from 2008 Honda Civic about STRUCTURE into the following categories.
Once paint was recalled but not for the body of car that is doing the same. paint is peeling on top of car and on both doors. also sun visors were recal yet they are broke again. also car has 11633 miles and i have replaced brakes 3 times.
Map for my car, navi for my car
The hood was repainted during a recall a year after purchase. last year, we saw cloudy white patches on the trunk and the paint/coating coming off (the car is black). now there are large white patches on the trunk, hood, and there is paint peeling under one of the doors. it is spreading quickly across each area.
The paint on the roof and the hood of my honda civic started peeling off last winter and it's gotten really bad. i randomly found out about a paint recall that honda had a few years ago and contacted honda about it. customer service told me that they cannot assist me because the recall is closed as of 2014 and they cannot do anything to fix the problem with the paint. i never received a recall regarding the problem with honda's faulty paint at my old or new mailing address.
My paint has been fading for about a year now. every time i bring my car to honda they tell me there is nothing they can do about it. it looks terrible. my car is still in very good condition, but the faded paint all over the body of the car is a complete eye sore. i would like to keep this car for many more years (even when i purchase a new one)i see many many honda civics from 2008 that look the same. i want to buy another honda in the near future, but because of this defect i don't think i can. it is embarrassing for me, and for honda.
Takata recall- my honda was totaled and my airbags never deployed.
My car paint and clearcoat started feeling off on roof and hood and spreading all over body parts
The clear coat is coming off my car. it started doing this in the past year. it looks horrible it's just on the trunk and the panels on top of the side windows. apparently there was a recall ( 14-034) but this has expired and honda will no longer cover. i called the previous owner of the car and they said they never received anything from honda. my car would qualify for this recall and it's obviously caused by their faulty primer/paint mix. please help.
Paint is cracking and peeling off on body of vehicle.
The bracket the holds the alternator and is connected to the engine block snapped while i was driving on a city street. i lost power steering and the belt came off. the alternator was just dangling. from what i understand, this is a known problem with this model vehicle and it seems to be a serious design flaw.
Sheet metal beneath the rear window split open the entire width of the glass resulting in water leaking into the car.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda civic. while driving 45 mph, the driver and passenger side sun visors fractured. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the driver side sun visor was replaced; however, the passenger side sun visor was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 95,000.
On doors the clear coat is chipping off and cloudy. color is galaxy grey metallic (nh-701m-4)
I noticed paint was really deteriorating on my wife's civic on top hood and trunk. i started a web search only to find that there has been a known problem for years. i found out that there was a honda campaign to correct the issue but it expired last year. i contacted local dealership and told there was nothing they could do. they did take pictures to hold for record. i escalated to honda america customer service who gave me file # 4452996 to have the issue reviewed. the customer service was horrible. many phone calls directly to voicemail without response for days. i was told by ron l. to go ahead and schedule the service with local dealership. i said, "does this mean the paint job will be covered, and he said either part or all should be covered. before i get a chance to schedule an appointment, another cs agent, tony called and left me a message stating that i should call him right away regarding my file number. 2nd agent alled me and stated that his field representative would be at the local dealership to look at the pictures and make a decision. i receive a call from tony yesterday telling me the claim had been denied. i asked him why and he told me he had no information on why it was rejected and to get in contact with the local honda dealership service manager for more information. the paint is deteriorating exactly how those covered by the campaign were deteriorating. i can send pictures if helpful.
Paint issues - the front hood of the car, front fender, and front side fenders had to be repainted due to faulty clear coat issues. the roof has the same issue, but is outside of the warranty repair window, even though the issue is with their clear coat and not my vehicle; my vehicle is well maintained and well cared for including washing and polishing. pictures of the roof are provided with no filter or alterations to the photos; the trunk has (knock on wood) yet to show any of these issues, but was also part of this same failure. i do not have any pictures of the hood, front/side fenders as those were repaired under warranty.
Ran over a shallow pot hole on a city street. the car was going 10-15 miles per hour (5 feet after a complete stop at a stop sign). the car was traveling straight across a one way stop. the driver's side air bag exploded (did not deploy) and seat belt stopped retracting. damage was also noted to the base of windshield on the driver's side.
My problem is with my almost 11 year old car. 2008 with only 58,000. miles. i'm a senior with limited income,so i can't afford to have it painted. living here among people in the villages that have ample funds makes me feel like the odd person out of place.anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated. sincerely,[xxx]. not in accident information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cc *tr
2008 honda civic coupe. consumer writes in regards to paint peeling off on roof of vehicle. *ld the consumer stated the vehicle did not begin to peel until after to recall expired. updated 10/23/2017*js
The paint on the roof of the car has several baseball size white spots that look like clear coat is coming off.
Paint on my navy blue civic is deteriorating on the trunk, hood and roof. also my passenger sun visor is broke. it looks like it melted and cracked for no apparent reason. there have been many complaints about paint peeling and chipping . you would think that honda would take responsibility for the problem.
I would like to report a complaint with honda corporation. there was a warranty issued for 2008 honda civics that covered an issue with paint chalking, cracking, and clouding. i was never notified of the warranty and they cannot confirm what home address the warranty notification was sent to....if at all.. lack of communication from honda corporation is a clear gap in internal processes.
Paint oxidation on roof, hood and trunk of car.
Paint is peeling on roof. last week as i was loading a toddler into the vehicle, he managed to grab a piece of chipped paint and put it in mouth. i did some researched and discovered that honda had issues with this particular paint. however, they are not taking responsibility since i missed their deadline. i am grateful that i was able to intercede and take the piece of paint out of my nephew's mouth and prevent him from going to the emergency room but could you imagine the potential risks out there. based on my research it is common for this paint to chip on the roof and trunk, and i cannot believe that honda is simply looking the other way. i guess we only have to wait and see the repercussions of their negligence and hope that drivers are vigilant when loading/unloading unruly toddlers from these questionable vehicles.
Clear coat & paint still fading after it was repainted by cleobay honda in 2014. side airbag warning light is on most of the time for no reason. sun visor's where replaced twice last in 2014 and are broken again. they will not stay up or down.
Clear coat starting peeling off of the roof roughly 6/2015 (roughly at 70,000 miles), to date the problem has spread to the trunk and starting on the side panels. i have reached out to my honda dealership on two separate occasions and was informed that my vin was not a part of the honda clear coat recall and that i would be responsible for all repairs. vehicle is parked indoors and has not been exposed to any hazardous weather conditions/etc that would cause this paint issue.
My son was involved in a car crash with a large suv. he hit them from the rear. my honda civic went under the bumper of the large suv. due to the impact my bumper tore off, my headlights broke, my hood was smashed in and the front end of the car was smashed in. why weren't the air bags deployed?? that is our concern? my son could have died in this crash due to faulty air bags. we have pictures of the crash. our main concern is the air bags not being deployed. i would like to notify honda corp of this incident. *tr
I have a 2008 honda civic ex and i take really good of my car, the paint on top is fading to the metal, i see this is a problem for a lot of honda civic's. also i am having major electrical problems, awhile ago my horn randomly stopped working and then 5months later started working again, then my passenger window wont roll up or down half the time, the lights where my stereo is stopped working and now the buttons on the radio or on my steering wheel are working, when i turn my heat/ac up or down it messes with my headlights. i had all the fuses checked and they are just fine. wondering if anyone else is having electrical problems and if there is a recall!!! i love honda but i am to the point where i want to get a different car and not go with honda. *tr
I own a 2008 honda civic ex and take excellent care of the car. since august the paint has been turning white on the roof and cracking on the hood, trunk and around the rear window. according to honda they have no reported issues with this problem and that i am just not taking care of the vehicle and its my fault. last august my brother-in-law received a warranty extension for the paint on his 2005 civic that is a light sandy color. my civic is dark red. when i mentioned this notice to honda they said that the issue is vin by vin based and my car because it is a "light" color doesn't qualify for this warranty extension. i said to the rep then you do acknowledge that there is an issue with the pain on civics. she again said no and if the paint is cracking then its something i'm doing wrong in taking care of the vehicle. i took the car to the dealer and they confirmed the issue and stated that honda is not being supportive of the issue and my car was the 3rd one this week brought in with the same failing paint. it is despicable that honda can sell a defective item and then blame the consumer for the issue. *tr
Hit a deer going 70 miles a hour state highway seat belt did not deploy i have a spine injury also paint is fading on roof
Paint on my atomic blue 2008 honda civic is fading to a white color on the roof. *tr
2 things: 1) the passenger side visor broke for no reason. it now hangs in the way of my vision. it doesn't stay up. it is a hazard. i can't have a passenger sit there because it completely obstructs their view. 2) the paint is damaged. server all spots are "worn out".
When they did the paint recall honda in hilo did not do the whole car just the roof now my car is chipping clear coat all over and it is a black car looking horribly wrong and no matter how much i complained for them to fix it they did not and avoided me now there another recall i want them as a honda dealer to fixed all of it like they promised. i do not required for them to fix the whole car but they need to fix when it all is it might need a while paint job but that your problem not mine. and then they tried to charge me 4500.00 to paint the whole car.... please help 8084303541, i purchase the car in july and it did notices it yet. until the car was shipped from sick hanna honda in vancouver wa to hilo hi
For the past two years, the paint on my car's front fenders, hood and roof has slowly begun to fade and peel. i now have 1/2 a dozen fairly large areas on my car where the paint has completely faded away.
The top of my car completely lost paint in two large sections (the size of a desert plate, it went down to the bare metal body of the car as of summer 2014. october 2014 i paid $566. to paint the entire top of the car by a local, reputable body shop. i take very good care of my car and wax it regularly. this is the first honda i have owned and never before have i had to paint a car due to paint totally wearing down to the "bones" of a car. *tr
Whenever performing a turn there is a clicking sound made from the rear of the vehicle. dealer unable to find anything through diagnostics. it sounds like there is a piece of metal broken somewhere that when going over a speed bump or turning it bumps or grinds against something. *tr
I moved to california almost 5 years ago and after 2 years the paint on the roof started to peal and now there are big white peeling blotches on the roof and its starting on the trunk.
Collided with truck and damaged front and right quarter panel (approx. $6400 damage) collision threw me from driver's seat to passenger door. i was wearing seat belt as prescribed. the seat belt was completely stretched across both seats but did not restrain me from crossing to opposite side of car. nor did any air bags deploy (nether side or front). srs system showed activation. *tr
2008 honda civic, paint color gold is faded on hood, roof and truck. this car in not old enough to look like it is ten years old! i have waxed it to help prevent peeling of paint but does not help. this year i also had to have my engine replace by honda (at their cost) for a cracked head. very disappointed in honda. *tr
The steering wheel began to pull my car to the left side. the steering wheel did not respond to the direction right and felt as if it had gone "limp". the front of the car hit the left center median guardrail. i suffered herniated discs and lumbar back injury. the drivers airbag never deployed resulting in my head hitting the steering wheel. i suffered a concussion and cervical neck injury. there were no other cars involved and no weather conditions. also i was going below the speed limit. i called honda and they said they could not explain nor help me with the airbag not deploying and the concussion i suffered. they also could not help me regarding the steering wheel pulling left then "going limp". i am still seeing a neurologist and physical therapist for my lumbar and cervical injuries, and neurological signs and symptoms. *tr
Paint is peeling and flaking off.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda civic. the contact noticed premature rust near the areas of the hood, roof, driver side door, exterior rearview mirrors, the front passenger side fender by the headlight, and all across the trunk. in addition, there was extensive paint peeling and cracking. the dealer (randy kuehl honda cars, 4425 center point rd ne, cedar rapids, ia 52402, (319) 393-5700) was notified and stated that they would send pictures to the manufacturer. the contact had not heard back from the dealer. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
I noticed in the spring of 2014 that the paint on the roof of the car was fading quickly and significantly. then, last month (march 2015,) i noticed the clear coat is cracked and peeling off completely on the right rear bumper and the trunk. there have been no incidents to warrant this type of damage, so i suspect it's a factory defect.
The paint on the hood and trunk are peeling off.
Clear coat began cracking, had it redone by the dealership. now the paint on the hood is chipping abnormally fast, and the right front fender had to be redone (12/15/14) since the clear coat was flaking off. i take great care of my car, but find myself highly discouraged to continue doing so given that i cannot afford a new car and i'm fighting a losing battle with both rust and chips. i don't have time to touch up 10-15 spots bi-weekly, regardless of size. *tr
There are whitest, silver looking places on roof and top of trunk. this happened sometime within past month or two but i didn't notice right away. car stays under carport cover. have been retired for over a year, so car has not been sitting in sunlite at work. showed service manager on august 09,2013 and he took pictures and said he would contact someone at honda since there was a 'goodwill' allowance for this and my car is not under warranty now. i had a 93 accord for 16 years and never had anything like this to happen. got the used 2008 civic in 2009 with very little mileage. it is to last me rest of my life, i thought. have always took my hondas to honda service dept. for all scheduled maintenance. have not heard back from service manager. what to do?? *tr
I bought a used 2008 honda civic coupe from a dealership a year ago. it was a one owner car. i noticed the top had some paint / clear coat wear so i had it painted. now there is a lot of paint / clear coat wear on the sides, trunk and doors. it looks like an old vehicle. honda should use more care with their paint and clear coat products. i own two other cars, toyotas, with no paint problems whatsoever. i feel that honda should take an initiative to have their vehicles re-painted. it looks tacky. there should be a warranty on the clear coat and paint. i have noticed many hondas like this around 2008 and 2009 models - dark colored paints. i will not buy another honda if they cannot increase the quality of their products. *tr
The paint on my roof around the sunroof the clear coat is coming completely off. i want honda to fix this as i never received a recall on it. *tr
Clear coat is coming off the roof around the sunroof you can now see metal. i want honda to fix this and i never receive any recall on this. *tr
Paint is peeling - started on hood looks awful - checked with dealer -the dealer stated there is nothing they can do - they did concede that this should not be happening. *jb
The paint has been peeling/ chipping away on the roof and trunk of my car and it is only getting worse.
