Takata air bag failed recall! my 2007 honda civic sedan has an inflator malfuction located in the driver side rear that keeps the airbag light on at all times. ive taken it to valley high honda 2differant occasions. 2009, 2016 the dealer said they wont fix it, i should go to pick a part. honda america also told me they wont fix it. not covered under warranty! the bags are not in working order due to the light being on and will not deploy if involved in an accident! i thought safety was #1 priority for honda? i have all my documentation showing my multiple visits. my wife and children travel in this car daily. i would like some help fixing this so my family will be protected if in an accident.i received a recall notice but the dealer said its not covered. i am writing this complaint after receiving an auto airbag settlement card in the mail. i purchased the vehicle used from valley high honda in 2007. the vehicle has never been involved in an accident while i have been the owner. i was told it wasnt in one prior to my purchase. i was informed by the same dealer that the inflator wiring was damaged and came disconnected from the inflator switch and that i was at fault. ? i recently have moved and dont have all my docuents readily available, so i havent attached them yet. the airbag light had began coming on shortly after or near the time of my purchase of the car. i will send or attach my little bit of information/documents as soon as i can get settled and locate it.
Purchased 2007 honda civic new. had issue with passenger side airbag light on 2008. had dealer fix. light came on 2009. had dealer fix. light came back on 2010. now vehicle warranty period expired. did not worry because passenger side air only and my son drive mostly by himself. light have been on ever since. brought car back to dealer for recall of airbags 7/2016. had dealer look at side airbag light again. they tell me the i had a faulty floor harness and all my airbags will not work and cost of repair after discount to be $1600. i call american honda on 8/1 to see if they will cover cost of repair. they did not. base on my research, i feel this is very unfair. 2007 honda civic have this problem side airbag light issue code 32-10. i think my car faulty harness issue was there when i purchased the car new and it cause side airbag light to come on constantly and why the repair never lasted more than a few months. this is a safety issue same as with the seat belt and american honda should cover cost of repair. american honda has service notice concerning this problem with the honda civic only. my mileage is 85080 at this time.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. while the vehicle was being repaired, the technician noticed that the dc converter needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but stalled without warning months later. the vehicle was able to restart. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the voltage converter needed to be repaired. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v106000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 203,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. the contact stated that while traveling at various speeds, the compressor and the battery failed intermittently. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer. the technician determined that there was an electrical short which required further diagnosis. the dealer was waiting for instruction from the manufacturer to remedy the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. the approximate failure mileage was 18,500.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. the contact stated that once the vehicle was powered off and the key was removed from the ignition, the vehicle would fail to restart. the contact could restart the vehicle if the key was not removed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 66,378.

During a routine oil change 'equipment inspection' was informed the third brake light was 'burned out'. as this is a multi-light led, the probability of the all the led to have failed was suspicious. dealer rep was very sure entire unit required replacement and quoted a price of nearly $200 for repair of a piece of safety equipment. deferred repair to further investigate. web search shows this is a extremely common occurrence on 2007 and later civics. problem is not the led but the solder joints on the assembly which fail frequently. as this is a design deficiency in a piece of safety equipment, one would expect a recall to correct. apparently as the problem requires 'immediate' repair in most states with annual safety inspections, it has not garnered sufficient traction with nhtsa to warrant action. (note: actual fail date/mileage is unknown). *tr
The srs light on my honda was on for the past month. this is a known issue that is affecting lots of honda civics of 2006 and 2007 that honda refuses to acknowledge. the wiring harness has to be replaced and the passenger side weight sensor, which is close to a $2000 repair. when i asked honda corporate (customer service [xxx] at 800-999-1009) i was arrogantly told they do not care because the car is outside of warranty. it is disgraceful that honda markets safety in their vehicles, but does not stand behind their srs system failing prematurely. this is not a wear and team item and no one sits in my car besides me. there should be a safety recall on this since airbags will not deploy whether or not we wear seat belts. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
My honda civic hybrid is not safe please help . my 07 honda civic hybrid has a problem with the ima battery most times it indicates no charge very very very dangerous . one example i came to a turn signal to turn left there were aprrox 3 cars ahead of me the signal light turned green the cars ahead of me went my turn i accelerated no power my car creeped thru the intersection as i started my turn the signal light was yellow then turned red for me and green for the oncoming traffic i thought i was going to get hit on my passenger side . this was not the first time it happened but one of the most dangerous ones. please help! *tr
Original owner. after ima battery software upgrade owner now experiences random loss of battery power level. battery indicator randomly falls to 1 bar and during this time, sluggish to poor acceleration, especially in highway merge situations placing owner is dangerous situations. when battery charged at least 50%, acceleration is acceptable as the ima assist in acceleration. *tr
After battery upgrade due to honda recall notice, the 2007 civic hybrid battery does not hold its charge as well as it used to. this is dangerous in icy conditions, as accelerating is slow. it's also dangerous entering the expressway and making a quick left turn. if i expect the car to perform as it doe when the battery is working, i end up barely getting up to speed in time. i'm hesitant to contact honda for a fix because of reports that this makes the problem worse and also decreases mpgs. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda civic hybrid. the contact stated after receiving notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 11v106000 (electrical system) the contact called the dealer to set an appointment for recall repairs. the dealer advised that the parts needed for repairs would not become available for two weeks. the manufacturer was contacted and confirmed the dealer's information. the manufacturer then suggested calling several different dealers to determine if the part was in stock. the contact was concerned that the failure described in the recall could cause a crash and stated that the manufacturer should have all parts available. the contact did not experience a failure. the current mileage was 82,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda civic hybrid. the contact was driving 40 mph when the ima battery warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle would not restart for a minimum of six hours and the vehicel was taken to the dealer. the dealer stated that there were bad codes that caused the vehicle to stall. the dealer reprogrammed the vehicle but the failure recurred. the dealer then replaced the ecm and pcm. the contact stated that the problem was with the ima battery since one of the codes from the diagnostic test read that the ima code was faulty. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 11v106000 (electrical system) and called the manufacturer but was advised that the vehicle was not included in the recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 74,000.

2007 honda hybrid ima problems honda update now car really unsafe. never know when hybrid will go gas mileage went from 45 to 32 mpg cant get up to speed at lights tired of people blowing there horns at me. please help us hybrid owners very unsafe car with ima update honda want put it back to org spec. *tr
On my 2007 honda civic hybrid the ima battery will suddenly drop from a charge to no charge. when this happens the car loses almost all acceleration power because the gasoline engine is forced to charge the battery up. this has happened to me during acceleration onto major highways during rush hour which is extremely dangerous without acceleration power. i would like honda motor to address this issue instead of issuing software recalls that do nothing to the car. *tr
Honda civic hybrid ima no assist or lack of assist and mileage reduction after ima software recall update. i had no issues prior to the ima recall software update performed at the dealer. the car seems to now use less electric motor power to accelerate or to go up hills. this can become dangerous in certain situations. also the car has seen a decrease in fuel economy of 16% city and 24% highway. contacted 2 different honda dealerships and they both said some people have the same issues but honda does not have a solution for them. called honda motor corp. directly to try to get warranty fix or at least for them to uninstall the ima sw update and they said they cannot do that. they will not replace my battery which is still under the 8 year warranty or resolve my sw update issues. it seems with so many people having an issue someone like the government should step in and force honda to rectify the issues for free rather than having people waste their time going to small claims court or filing a class action suit. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda civic hybrid. the contact received notification from the dealer to bring his vehicle in for servicing where they performed an ima service upgrade. after the servicing, the contact stated the electric motor assist did not work. both the dealer and manufacture were contacted who informed the contact that the software upgrade could not be undone. the vehicle was not repaired. the current mileage was approximately 59,000. the failure mileages was approximately 56,000.
The ima battery pack in my 2007 honda civic hybrid failed at 68,000 miles. prior to the failure, on one occasion the engine shut down at a stop sign and had to be restarted. the battery failure occurred while my wife was driving the car on a freeway and the failure resulted in a considerable drop in power, but the car continued to run on the gasoline engine alone. honda previously installed a software update in the vehicle apparently to address battery issues. honda is replacing the battery pack under warranty. *tr
2007 honda civic hybrid. consumer states problems with vehicle battery *tgw the consumer stated she received a letter from honda motor corp. to visit her dealer for a software update to prevent premature deterioration on the ima battery. the consumer stated she was getting poor gas mileage. she then noticed the vehicle's performance was extremely sluggish. every time she started the vehicle and began driving, the gauge that displayed the ima battery's charge dropped to one bar and there was absolutely no assist from the ima system upon acceleration, which was the process of the battery recalibrating and trying to evaluate if there was enough charge available to assist the internal combustion engine, which could leave the vehicle dangerously under-powered when merging into interstate traffic. the consumer also stated she had difficulty turning left at a busy intersection due to lack of acceleration. the vehicle almost never shut off with the auto-stop feature due to low charge of the ima battery. *jb
I had the software updated in my 07 civic hybrid in august 2010. since the update the car has no electric assist when the battery is half full or less. my battery is in this state at least half of the time and honda tells me that it is normal and that the lack of power when accelerating is the result of the update. this has made the car feel very unsafe to drive, especially when pulling onto the highway. i was almost rear ended the last week in august pulling on the highway because my car had no pickup as a result of this update. *tr
On august 18, 2010 my 2007 honda civic caught fire in my driveway. at about 10:30pm i looked out my bedroom window to see if i put the driver's window up and discovered that my car was on fire. flames where coming from the right front fender/passenger side mirror area. when i got closer to the car i could see a clear-yellow-ish flame that was burning a whole in the fender from the inside out. i had called 911, but i was nervous about the car being so close to the house and i put out the fire myself. the damage was relatively minor and the car was repaired. originally, the insurance company said that a faulty wiring harness caused the fire. they later stated that the cause was undetermined. there is another report of a 2007 civic catching fire due to a faulty wiring harness on this site. *tr
Note: i wish i had found this site years ago. i could not get past fords "brick wall" to speak to an engineer! 1. 1997 aerostar - accelerator pedal was pressed down quickly to pass (2 lane highway). 2. now in the left lane, not far ahead of passed the car - i experienced a complete loss of power - hard right over to soft shoulder - avoided an oncoming head on collision - l just missed the car being passed by inches and stopped. the crimped end of cable to the carburetor had released from the accelerator pedal. 3. i clamped the cable back onto the pedal with vice grips. (drove to dealer). ford replaced the cable. that problem has not happened again. (i do not press down hard either!) *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda civic hybrid. the contact stated while sitting at a complete stop, the vehicle felt as though it was going to stall. the manufacturer was informed about the failure. the vehicle taken into the dealer for a software update recall , and afterwards the vehicle was not performing like it was previously. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 28000 and the current mileage was 29000.
I received a letter from american honda corp. stating that i needed to get a software update on my 2007 honda civic hybrid ima battery. i took the car to my local dealer and since the update has been installed the car is dangerous to drive when entering the freeway. the failure to accelerate happens everytime i enter the freeway. the consequences of this failure is that cars behind come up on me very fast and i have no power to get in the flow of traffic. it has little acceleration to match traffic flow. it seems the car is mostly operating on the small engine and has little assist from the battery, since the update has been installed.i called american honda they said there was no problem with the update on the performance of the car and they would not do anything regarding my concerns. i feel this car is an accident waiting to happen. as well ,honda said they will not change the warranty on the battery even though they have changed how the battery operates since they have installed the update. i ask you to consider telling honda to recall this car and make it safe to drive. i want my car to run the way it did before the software was installed. a side complaint is that the good gas mileage i got on a tank of gas as dropped considerably since the update.. thank you for your consideration on taking on this complaint.. p.s. there has been no accident. i filed this complaint so that there is none in the future. the incident date of august 11,2010 is the date the new software was installed in my car. *tr
I have a 2007 honda 'hybrid'. recently i received a letter from honda reference to the batteries. as instructed i went to the dealership and had a new computer chip installed. problem, my acceleration from start is greatly diminished and my fuel economy has gone down about 3 mpg around town. please assist. thankyou. *tr
I have a 2007 honda civic hybrid. i have noticed that the battery is suddenly drained of its charge during hot weather when i am at a stop. this caused me to pull out into traffic with literally no acceleration. this has led me to almost being called by oncoming traffic on a couple different occasions. i know honda is aware of this happening as they have sent out a notice to have the battery software updated saying that the battery is being drained and deteriorating over time. i think that they know that this is a major safety issue and they are not admitting it. honda has to be held responsible to provide a fix for this situation before someone gets killed if they haven't already. *tr
Since i have gotten the ima battery upgrade the car battery completely discharges randomly several times a day. when the battery discharges the car looses a significant amount of its acceleration. it frequently looses all bars on the battery gauge, signifying a recalibration event. when this happens, the car is unable to accelerate at a reasonable speed since the hybrid system is trying to charge the battery instead of accelerating the car. in addition, you have to drive slowly and avoid any situations that may require quick acceleration while this is occurring or else you might be involved in an accident. i have had three incidents since this upgrade where i have nearly had accidents due to this problem. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda civic hybrid. the contact stated that in august 2010, the dealer reprogrammed the computer which caused the vehicle to lose power and not accelerate normally. the vehicle was inspected by the dealer who stated that the reprogramming was the cause of the failure. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
The vehicle's hybrid ima system (integrated motor assist) has been steadily deteriorating since approximately 40000 miles, but became hazardous at around 63000. current mileage is 78500. the hybrid battery system must recharge so frequently that battery assist is available less than half the time. when assist is unavailable, acceleration is dangerously low, making common driving situations such as left turns, freeway onramps, and merging into traffic unpredictable and quite hazardous. honda's only response has been a series of ineffective software updates. honda will not replace the battery under warranty unless a warning light appears. yet even the current severely degraded performance of the battery does not trigger that warning light. i have been in several "near miss" situations when acceleration was so sluggish that i was nearly unable to evade a dangerous traffic situation.
I was almost in a serious accident as i went to make a right hand turn, and the car only accelerated at about 1/4 of its normal pace. i had to look down to make sure my foot was on the gas. when this acceleration failure occurred, the battery showed no charge, but it had shown almost a full charge when i first started the car, just a few minutes earlier. my car now cannot hold a charge at all. i park it fully charged, and when i start, it shows fully charged. within the first mile of driving, it drops to 1 or no bars. it then has trouble accelerating, as the car cannot pull from the ima and it tries to charge the ima, instead of accelerating. this failure is now occurring daily. it is very difficult to drive to work, as i don't know when i can merge onto interstate and if the car will fail. it is usually fine after about 10 miles of driving, but my commute is only 12 miles, so i would say this makes a very large % of my commute dangerous. the service department updated software, but this has not improved the situation at all. i am keeping a journal of these daily activities, as the ima is still under warranty. my gas mileage dropped 20% over the past year, even though i do use ethanol free gas. this was the first indication there was a problem with the ima, but honda simply gave me the brush off everytime i expressed a concern that this was an early sign that something was wrong. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda civic hybrid. the contact was driving approximately 40 mph entering the highway from an on ramp when the engine began to lose power and the vehicle would not accelerate. the vehicle decelerated to 10 mph. the failure would occur intermittently. the manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for the replacement of the hybrid battery and reprogramming of the battery software. the contact stated that after the repair was performed, the failure recurred. the contact requested the original software to be installed in the vehicle however, neither the manufacturer nor the dealer would assist. the failure mileage was 60,000.
2007 honda civic hybrid lost electric motor assist power in may 2010 when i was driving up a hill in downtown seattle traffic. took it to honda dealer, who confirmed low power assist and (without conferring with me) reprogrammed the power assist software and pronounced it fixed. one or two days after this service call, i again noticed weak electric motor assist on another hill in downtown traffic. took the car to honda again, and they confirmed that they could replicate the anemic power condition, but said that honda usa says the vehicle is operating as intended with the computer software update, and that there is no more to be done. i said that i had lost confidence in the automobile, since i consider it a driving hazard not to be able to accelerate adequately in some driving conditions. i said that i wanted honda to buy back the car, but the dealer service manager said that honda wouldn't do that. i have purchased another car, but still own the honda civic hybrid; i don't know what to do with it, since i don't feel good offering it to anyone other than honda for sale. *tr
Honda civic hybrid 2007 has worse mpg (28mpg on average) than its non-hybrid twin or other comparable models, after the new software for integrated motor assist was installed by honda dealership. when i bought the car it was marked with 45mpg average. my battery seems to have been damaged as it does not hold charge. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda civic hybrid. the contact stated that he had an ima battery in the vehicle that would not charge in hot weather. the vehicle also began to accelerate without warning. the dealer was contacted and stated that they have been updating the software in the vehicle. the manufacturer stated that there was nothing wrong with the battery. there have been no repairs just software updates. the vin is not available. the failure mileage was 43000 and the current mileage is 45500. updated 10/21/10. *lj updated 10/26/10
Ignition key may be removed when vehicle is not shifted into "park." unless the parking brake is engaged, this can cause the vehicle to roll from an apparently parked position, creating a risk of damage to property and personal injury. *tr
My 2007 honda civic hybrid ima battery is discharging/recalibrating randomly causing loss of power. prior to this date i had taken it to the dealership to try and find a problem since this began occurring frequently and was a new issue with the car. no problems were found. on this date, the ima battery discharged while making a left at an intersection, power was drained, a car almost hit me because my car could not accelerate fast enough to get out of the way. given that this happens randomly there is no way to predict when a recalibration/discharge will happen. it has since been taken back to the dealer multiple times. because there is no error code indicating there is a problem they are refusing to work on it even though the car is still 100% under warranty. many others have experienced the same issue with the batteries and the car power loss. those that have been lucky enough to get the ima battery replaced have reported the car back to normal working conditions. i should note, that when i first got my car the discharge/recalibration would happen once every several months. this number has been increasing rapidly and now the vehicle does this at least four times a week. in february it did it two times a week, and about 7 months ago it started doing it once a week. the more this occurs the more i am at risk for an accident. the car simply does not have power to get out of the way and because it is such a drastic change from normal operating conditions the driver cannot compensate. honda is refusing to acknowledge there is an issue and has been completely unresponsive to my concerns. *tr
This is regarding a 2007 honda civic hybrid. the ima system/electric battery is not working as it used to. recently there was a service bulletin issued by honda to have the ima software updated at any honda dealership. the service bulletin dealt with the issue of the electric battery not charging properly and no/minimal assist from the ima system when accelerating. there is no change in how the car is performing after the software update and the mpg has gone down from 42 to 32 mpg. the electric battery is not charging as it used to initially and there is hardly any assist when accelerating. my wife and i have almost gotten into really bad accidents when trying to merge on the freeway. without any assistance from the electric battery, the car has literally no acceleration. on a few occasions we were almost run over by semi's because we couldn't merge with the traffic fast enough. i've reported this issue to multiple dealerships in bay area ca but they insisted there is no problem with the hybrid batteries. they state that if there is a problem then a warning light should come up on the dashboard indicating the problem. i don't know why the light is not coming on but i proved to multiple dealers that the battery charge does not hold. they saw how the car was behaving but said they were not able to do anything till the vehicle's onboard computer indicated that there was an issue with the ima system. i then contacted honda usa and reported the issue. they were polite but declined any help. they also said that the car has an onboard computer that displays an error if there is an issue. i told them that this problem can cause fatal accidents on the highway because the car does not have any power and it is not fit to be driven on the highway but honda usa said that they were not aware of any such issue. i strongly feel that they are aware of the issue and even tried to correct it via the latest software update but it didn't work and they're not willing to replace the battery. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda civic hybrid. the contact stated that the electrical battery, or the ima system, would not hold an electrical charge. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised the contact that if a light did not illuminate within the instrument panel stating there was a failure with the vehicle, they were unable to assist. the manufacturer was contacted stating that a warning light should have illuminated indicating a failure and if not, they were unable to provide any assistance. the failure mileage was 56,000. updated 04/15/11
Premature sudden battery failure. shorts out. i've have to get a new battery every year. *tr
My 2007 honda civic hybrid is frequently sluggish and doesn't accelerate as rapidly as i was used to when it performed better. now, when i'm turning left in front of oncoming traffic or merging into high speed traffic i never know if my car will accelerate quickly enough or not. i've taken it to honda multiple times and they always say it's fine. more recently i realized it was because it wasn't getting its previous level of battery assist because the battery is performing much worse than it used to. i reluctantly did the softward update honda is recommending to extend battery life, but have since realized it is probably making the issue worse. this problem has been going on for one year, or slightly more. i've taken it to honda 5 times. it happens approximately once or twice per day that i don't accelerate with the car's full power. *tr
The 2007 honda civic hybrid battery loses its ability to hold a charge leaving the vehicle without the assist that should be coming from the electric motor to supplement the gasoline engine. it can drop its charge at any time and is dangerous when the vehicle operator expects the assist such as freeway merging and there is no assist. *tr
My 2007 honda civic hybrid would lose its battery charge and it would take 2 to 3 miles of driving to recharge the battery. during this recharging time there is no assist from the electric motor which is suppose to aid the gas engine when more power is needed such as merging into traffic or making a left turn with on coming traffic. the official name of the battery losing its charge is called a recalibrating. it had happened to me about every 5 to 8 miles of driving but it is random and can happen at the most inopportune time. the battery pack is causing the problem as it is deteriorating. even though i still had warranty coverage in the 3yr/36000 coverage, honda refused 5 times to replace the battery.the honda civic hybrid should not be sold when this is happening to so many owners. yes, the car operates without the electric motor assist but when you are expecting more power for the maneuver you are going to do and the recalibrating kicks it in it can be very dangerous! i used the better business bureau auto line and had my problem arbitrated and the decision was my car was a lemon and honda had to repurchase it. the arbitrator ruled the car a lemon and one reason was it was not safe to drive in all normal driving situations! get this car off the road. this is my second complaint about this matter. for the first complaint i did not have the lemon law decision but now i do and this car is officially declared a lemon. *tr
Popping noise while turning at 5,268 miles. replaced two tires at 19,785 miles. need a front end axle replacement at 31,839. diagnosed and adjusted torqued rear suspension noise at 60,136. replaced rear upper control arms 61,275. replaced shocks, and cv boots at 61,275. struts were making noise due to cupping. struts were replaced at 61,275. two new tires that were recently replaced were replaced again. both tires were feathered and making noise. vehicle is maintained in good condition and is following the manufacturer's maintenance recommendation. car was aligned as required by manufacturer. however, cupping or feathering of the tires still happened. when the rear control arm was not replaced yet, the rear noise was so loud and driving was bad. the tires felt flat and the shock absorber did not seem to be working. it is very hard to deal with both honda america and kolbe dealer. both companies tried to play ignorant of the issues although they knew it all along. i spent $1,419.11 for premature expenses. american honda blamed the premature damages to me. american honda nor kolbe honda did not notify me of the technical bulletins that were issued. also, just because there is a technical bulletin or corrective action does not mean that the problem will go away. design of the rear upper control arm must be reviewed again and tested for geometry with other parts of the vehicle. honda america should tightened its quality control and quality assurance so that its manufacturing facility will not release cars that have defective parts. honda knew very well that the rear upper control arms have design flawed starting with 2002 honda civic. why are they still using this design? is it because they manufactured so much of the wrong parts? the battery, and water pump pulley were replaced, updated 07/16/12

2007 honda civic hybrid has issues with the brakes and power. *nj the consumer stated the brakes were not braking properly. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer to have the brakes inspected, but after inspecting the brakes and road testing, they stated the vehicle was performing normal. the consumer continued to have braking issues, and after almost having a collision due to decreased braking ability, she again contacted the dealer. they tested the brakes again, and found no problem. the brakes continued to fail about once a week. the dealer evaluated the vehicle. the dealer stated a report from honda stated the ima will stop charging and stop with assisted braking if temperatures are too high and that it is normal for the customer to feel a difference in braking without regeneration. honda advised that the consumer drive with the windows down and when she parked the vehicle to leave them down as well to help cool off the hybrid batteries which were located behind the seat. the dealer contacted the consumer because they wanted to perform a computer upgrade on her vehicle. the report also stated updated ima control unit and battery software. the consumer drove for several weeks and noted some improvement with the braking issue, but now the ima batteries will not stay charged, and if the battery level goes below 4 bars, which is 1/2 of full bars or a completely charged battery, the vehicle's power is greatly decreased to the point of having to travel at speeds of 15-20 mph for 15 seconds after being stopped at a red light. *jb
