Recently reported VISIBILITY problems on 2007 Honda Civic

The driver's side sun visor in my 2007 honda civic has split at the seam twice, and i have had it replaced by my local honda dealer both times. it starts to split slowly, but with each use gets gradually worse until it just hangs limply, obstructing my view of the road. the 2nd time it was replaced, honda said i was out of warranty and would not fully pay for the replacement part (this was in the span of approx. 1 year). when the visor was broken, i had several near-wrecks due to the visor being directly in my view of the road. it is dangerous because as a driver, you either have to accept that the sun will be in your eyes and will block your view or the visor will be in your way and obstruct your view. this is an every-day occurrence, as a visor is used almost daily. the second time i had it replaced, i took a binder clip (found at any office supply store) and clipped it over the seam to keep it held together. i have not had the problem of the seam splitting since i have put the clip there, but this should not be happening, and i should not have to hold my 2007 vehicle together with a paper clip. *tr

Driver and passenger side sun visor on our 2007 honda sedan exploded and flopped down in our face, which creates a hazard when driving. *tr

At less than 50k miles on my 2007 honda civic ex my windshield wipers started acting erratic. they would not respond to the control, as in they would not turn off when turned to the off position, the delay function was not working, and would not turn on sometimes. when this happened there were times when i could not see due to rain, and the wipers not working properly, and also when i could not clean the dirt, salt and other road gunk off the windshield because they would not work. i took the car into the dealership where they charged me hundred of dollars to replace the windshield wiper motor assembly, when this was obviously a defective part to begin with. *tr

A sudden collapse of the rear window the rear window collapsed upon itself for no apparent reason, filling the back seat with sharp shards of glass. the car was parked in the driveway, the day was clear and bright, and i was standing right behind the car when the rear window started to collapse upon itself. i shudder to think what would have happened to a baby restrained in the back seat if such a glass shower landed on it while driving. i had the rear window replaced at my own cost. my efforts to have the manufacturer reimburse me under the car warranty failed. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. the contact stated that the front sun visor flipped down while she was driving. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer twice where it was repaired. the failure continued but the vehicle had not been repaired again. the failure mileage was approximately 15,000 and the current mileage was approximately 55,000.

Defective sunvisors- fall into line of sight. broke at approx 40,000 miles. first the driver side and about a week later the passenger side. no longer able to keep them out of the way. *tr

The visor on the driver side in 2007 honda civic lx model is made of cheap plastic and cracks open if you happen to pull it down and put it back up frequently. once it cracks open it will not stay up again and hangs loose down obstructing the driver's view. it hangs down and very annoying while driving as front view is obstructed because of loose hanging visor. my car is just one and half year old and it has already cracked open twice. last time when the dealer replaced it since it is under warranty it cracked open in just couple months. if this problem is not fixed it will become a safety hazard as people can not go on buying and replacing the visor every month and in the absence may get involved in car accidents due to vision getting blocked with visor. *tr

The sun visors on the 2007 honda civic lx are defective. once the hinge breaks, the visor will no longer stay up and it hangs straight down blocking more than one third of the windshield visibility. because my vision is dangerously obstructed i often have to move the visor so that it is against the driver-side window. with the visor in this position, nearly half of the side window visibility is obstructed causing yet a different but equally dangerous hazard. furthermore, when my visor is against the driver-side window and i have to turn, the visor often hits me in the head. in order to prevent being hit in the head i have to hold the visor in place while turning. your defect is not only a cosmetic nuisance it is also very dangerous. *tr

Broken driver's side sun visor on a 2007 honda civic. many people are experiencing this problem. the broken sun visor will not stay up and causes a safety hazard by limiting the drivers vision of the road. please get honda to recall and redesign these visors, they are terrible and break repeatedly. *tr

Broken sun visors impeding drivers and passengers view. lack of movement of internal breaking mechanism causes visor to crack and separate. *tr

We own a 2007 honda civic dx which has had a chronic problem with the driver's side sun visor failing twice before and, now, both the driver's side and passenger's side sun visors have failed. each time a honda dealer has replaced the defective part. the safety issue is that, with the driver's side malfunctioning, the driver has to hold the visor out of his / her line of site leaving only one hand to drive the car. the manufacturer has been contacted and has said it will replace the defective part as it occurs, however, this part should be examined and re-engineered to give consistent, safe service. *tr

The sun visors in my 2007 honda civic are defective. the plastic inside the visor weakens and breaks in the heat, and the visor no longer stays in place. it can drop into the driver's line of vision at any time, posing a hazard for visibility when driving. it can no longer be used to block the sun, so visibility is reduced when driving into the sun as well. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. the contact stated that the sun visors were warped and would continuously swing down and flap back and forth, obstructing the driver's view of the roadway. the engine would also overheat frequently and the engine block was cracked. in addition, the temperature gauges would not properly monitor the engine temperature. the engine rpms would often exhibit and abnormal increase. on one occasion while exiting the highway on an incline, the vehicle stalled and began to roll backward on the ramp. the contact barely missed crashing into a tractor trailer. the manufacturer advised taking the vehicle to a dealer for diagnostics testing. the manufacturer also stated they would cover ninety percent of the engine block repairs. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was awaiting repairs. the vehicle had been in the possession of the dealer for over one month. the current and failure mileages were approximately 74,900.

I have a 2007 honda civic lx sedan. the sun visor on both the driver and passenger side has split into two and broken off it's support. i am very concerned about the safety of this vehicle while driving it in this condition. it should be recalled at the manufactures expense! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. the driver and passenger side visors were flipped down. when he attempted to flip the visors up he noticed they were stuck. the dealer replaced the visors but stated that the failure would happen again. the failure mileage was 4,200. the current mileage was 5,300.

When engine is warm and car is at idle (either when stopped at traffic light or when parking before shutdown) and you open/close sun roof and/or power windows the rpms dip, car shakes, and engine almost stalls before rpms recover to normal idle. this has happened at least two dozen times and started happening soon after taking delivery. at approx 400 miles car was taken into dealer and dealer was able to reproduce the problem on my vehicle and also reproduced the problem on other new civics on dealer lot. dealer reset pcm and performed idle relearn procedure. this did not resolve the problem. dealer reported to honda engineering and they had no knowledge of issue and offered no advice. additionally at approx 600 miles after car sat unused all day and when attempting to start later that night, the car did not start on first attempt. on second attempt and after cranking longer than usual for startup, the car started roughly with a jolt and ran rough (car shaking) for 3-5 seconds. *tr

1. 2007 honda civic visor split within a month of purchase. it was still functional despite the split, until approximately 9/27/10, when it stopped locking in place and started interfering with visibility. just learned that many civic owners complain of the same problem. 2. at approximately 26,000 miles, windshield spontaneously cracked while parked overnight, yet there was no impact. crack formed overnight on 9/30/10-10/1/10. windshield was smooth to the touch from both the outside and inside all along the length and breadth of the crack. *tr

Hello, i bought the 2007 honda civic brand new. the sun visors on both sides busted within 2 months. there was no unusual pressure or use. given the numbered complaints. i thought this should be escalated. we must have honda resolve the issue definitively and quickly. both for the ongoing safety and the inexplicable residual cost to the consumer. please let me know what our rights and recourse are. please reference this internet link in regards to the extend of the problem. http://www.usrecallnews.com/2007/09/major-honda-civic-recall-of-2006-and-2007-models.html thank you in advance, sharon goh *tr

The windshield wipers on my 2007 civic have been replaced 4 times since the purchase of the car in october of 2006. the wipers streak so badly that i cannot see out of the windshield safely. upon taking the car back to the dealer, they admit that there is a problem that they have experienced with other vehicles, but that the new wipers are only a temporary fix. they have used several different compounds on the windshield to attempt to "erase" whatever problems are causing this issue. they have used a "clay" that is used in body shops to "scrub" down the window. this works momentarily. there is a bigger issue that honda is not yet addressing. they claim that it is the elements which are responsible for this problem. i refuse to agree with this as this is my 5th new vehicle, and the other 4 had wipers that worked perfectly for over 2 years before needing to be replaced. i am severely annoyed that i've had to keep returning to the dealership and i am still getting no real solution. *tr

My wife's hybrid honda civic (2007) while driving, if you open the two back windows, you get this loud whipping of wind sound thru out the car, its an aerodynamics flaw i believe. in any case its annoying to the point where you must roll the windows back up. *tr
