At issue is driver's side sun visor for 2007 honda, per service department at dealership, there is a defect in manufacturing that lead to a separation of the visor on the seam so that the visor does not go up and stay up causing issues with visibility. while driving, seam separated further while trying to hold up the visor to see a road sign which led to the visor hanging down in the middle of the windshield while driving on an expressway. i was able to pull it off of the hinge and toss it on the seat averting an accident. per service desk personnel, no improvement in the part has been made by honda to date. as per review of blogs on the internet, some owners have replaced the visors multiple times. *tr

The driver's side visor is defective. it appears as though the seal on the hinge for the visor has come undone (not due to any excess force, simply due to general everyday use). the defective hinge on the visor leads to the inability to properly position the visor, when in use, or not in use. when in use, this creates a safety hazard due to obstructing the driver's vision by the visor itself due to inability to properly position the visor (it does not stay in place), or affecting the driver's vision due to not being able to properly shield glare and sun due to the inability to properly position the visor while driving. when not in use, the visor may not stay in place, therefore "flopping" in front of the driver's line of vision. this is a safety concern that, when researched on the internet, is large problem with honda civic owners like myself. this has not yet caused me to have an accident, but i'm trying to be proactive in preventing such an incident. i have tried multiple times to speak with my honda service people, and i've been told this is not covered under warranty. however, the service people have told me they see this complaint "all the time." this is a safety defect that needs to be addressed and properly handled. thank you for looking into this matter.

Plastic driver's side sun visor separated at seam during warm weather and no longer maintained up or down position. visor became an obstruction to the driver's vision and could only be removed from view with constant pressure or complete removal. *tr

The sun visors on both the driver and passenger side failed. the poor design of the visors is the reason for the failure. the amount of force required to move the sun visor up or down eventually "unwelds" the plastic front from the plastic back. the result is the visor is stuck in the down position resulting in a safety issue. *tr

I own a 2007 honda civic that was bought new in july 2007. in august 2007 the driver's side sun visor came apart and was hanging down making it hard to see when driving. since the car was still under warranty the dealer replaced it for free. at the time they had told us they replaced numerous visors. now it's august 2010 and it's broken again. the car is now out of warranty and the dealer will not replace the visor for this reason. this is a safety concern because when it comes apart it hangs straight down and can't be pushed up to stay. i have read online forums where numerous people are having problems with this issue. when i called the honda dealer where i live now in tennessee they said they have replaced a 'ton" of the visors. obviously honda has an issue with this and it needs to be recalled. *tr

The honda 07 civic sun visors are defective and must be recalled! the heat causes the visors to crack and become suspended in the down position. after it cracks it will not lock in the up position. the honda dealership admits this is a common problem and i must pay to have it fixed now that my warranty has expired! this will be the second time i've replaced both visors. *tr

Our 2007 honda civic sun visor has broken twice. the first time was only a month or so after purchasing brand new from the dealer. when the sun visor breaks, it dangles in front of the driver's view. whether in the front or pushed to the side, the broken sun visor tilts down and dangles in a distracting way which is dangerous for the driver of the civic. the sun visor was very poorly designed by honda. structurally speaking, the torsional resistance required to rotate the visor from the up position to the down position wasn't correctly designed for. the result is that the internal plastic clamps that are supposed to resist all forces from the internally rotating metal arm, fail and after these plastic clamps internally get torn apart, the sun visor dangles oddly in front of the driver and causes a dangerous distraction. this poorly designed sun visor fails very easily under normal use, and gives no warning of distress, before failing suddenly. this sun visor should be recalled and replaced with a correctly designed sun visor that won't brake and cause this safety issue. *tr

Driver's side visor was loose and did not stay in the full up or full down position reliably, trouble began a year after delivery and gradually became worse. in june, 2010, the visor suddenly split open and the visor hung loosely and would stay in the up position. i repaired the visor by clamping the split parts together with a u-shaped piece of stainless steel. seems to be holding for now. *tr

Car sits in the sun while at work. i have tinted windows, leave them slightly cracked to get some airflow, and also use a sun shield on the windshield to keep as much heat out as i can. still, the sun visor hinges fail and the visors hang down in your face with no way to get them out of the way except removing them from the car completely. i had one visor replaced under warranty last year, and now both driver/passenger visors are broken in the exact same manner, including the visor that was already replaced once. driving on the highway and having the visor flip down in your face with no way to move it out of the way is a big problem. i'm a pretty tall guy, and the visor is directly in my field of vision when it falls down. holding it up out of the way with one hand, second hand on the wheel, and trying to shift to get off the interstate to remove the visor is no easy task... as far as i can tell, there has been no redesign of this part, so it will continue to happen (seemingly every summer) even if i were to pay to get the visors replaced each year. *tr

I have owned a honda civic for at least 2 year maybe mores. its a 2007 model. i had been living in chicago (had moved there) since the end of 2008 (december to be exact-making it almost the beginning of january 2009. i lived there till april 2010. we then moved back to texas. i had not had a problem with the visor until a month and a half later before my girlfriends and i left for a trip to dallas. the visor refused to stay up. i have not however had the money to buy a new one until l now. still i find this very risky and very much of a safety issue. *tr

There were no signs that my daughter's driver's side sun visor, while driving, was going to break, and hang down in front of her eyes, blocking her view of the road. if this is not a safety issue, then what is? after searching the web and noticing the increasing number of complaints related to this issue, and calling my local dealer, only to be told that, since my warranty had expired, i would be responsible for honda's problem. i knew i had to do something to not only protect my daughter, but also protect other consumers experiencing the same problem. if you're reading this, please take the time to file a complaint with honda usa at 1-800-999-1009 and dot's, nhtsa at 1-888-327-4236. the only way, we as consumers, are going to be able to make honda do anything to correct their problem, is to file a complaint with the proper regulatory agency. it upsets me, to know, that honda, knowing they have a defective part, will not look out for the safety of their customers, and step up to the plate, and correct this problem they created. my local dealer told me that since my warranty had expired, it would cost me $100.00 to replace the sun visor. i informed him that i will make a call to the above-listed numbers, and we will proceed from there. please make the calls if you're experiencing this problem. do not allow honda to get away with, not only a safety issue, but also making us pay for their defective product. this could have been a dangerous situation. make sure you select "visibility", under the components name, located on the vehicle information page, of this complaint form. *tr
