Abs light came on. i brought car to dealer and they said there was a bulletin out to reseal and retighten the abs modulator. abs light was back on within 4 months. went back to dealer and was told it would cost $1400 to fix problem or ignore it because the car would operate perfectly fine without abs function. lately the abs light is coming on sooner and more often and i am having to pump the brake pedal to keep it from going to the floor. i am going to the dealer today, but i am expecting the usual run around.*ak

Abs system failed. it will cost 1800.00 to repair. i have noticed that this is a common occurance with this vehicle. also the fuel gauge does not work, and the car jumps while driving over 65 mph.

I have contacted honda regarding both these problems. they have agreed to pay 25% of the total cost. i feel that since there are so many complaints about both these problems for this year car there should be a recall - even the honda mechanic told me that if i traded this car in honda cars of corona would have to repair both items before they sold the car because they are safety problems. honda should pay the entire cost. *ak
Abs modulator defect noted in tech service bulletin. dealership still insisted i pay $266- they said this was half- "a good deal" for me. if a manufacurer's defect, the manufacturer should have paid entire cost of replacement. *ak
At 38000 miles abs light came on. dealer replaced anti lock brake system.*ak
Gurley leep honda (elkhart, in) serviced car. reported that abs is not safety related and that since no recall was issued i would have to pay over $1100 to repair the faulty abs controller. i intend to contest this with the regional rep. from honda. *ak
Original abs leak and failure 6/27/98. subsequent abs failure and leak on 8/13/99. dealer estimated $1,400 for replacement of defective parts. quick fixed by dealer while under warranty in 1998 by refilling abs fluid so abs light would go off.

The seals on the anti-lock brake system pump went bad, causing the brakes not to respond in an emergency. consumer slid on some ice into a ditch. after the vehicle started to slide that wa s when consumer realized that the brakes were out. dealer has been contacted. *ak
