We have classified the 4 complaints from 1995 Honda Accord about SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC into the following categories.
Tl*the contact owns a 1995 honda accord. when shifting, the vehicle bangs into gear and the transmission jumps and makes a loud noise. he took the vehicle to a meineke dealer and they diagnosed that the muffler and catalytic converter needed to be replaced, and the rims were bent. the underbody of the vehicle has an inch and a half gap, in which the inside of the vehicle can be seen. he took the vehicle to honda and they stated that the transmission, rear brakes, rotors, motor mount, and air bags needed to be replaced. in addition, the rims were bent. the speed and powertrain were unknown. the current mileage was 91,027 and failure mileage was 90,806.
Brakes failed but engine revved up. harder i pushed the brakes, the car increased speed. on most occasions, i was able to coast to a stop or use the emergency brake. in this instance, the emergency brake did not hold and crash occurred. dealer could not find problem when informed of braking issue. it was an intermittent issue but very scary. *nm
Vehicle abs started making noise around 90,000 miles and was slowly losing fluid. light came on permanantly at 100,000 miles and abs malfunctioned. american honda is aware of the problem. tsb 96-05 was issued. dealer stated it was a common problem and the modulater costs is approx. $1,100. no recall was issued knowing the plugs on the abs modulator were not properly tightened when the vehicle was shipped from the factory. this caused a leak of brake fluid from the system, which appears to have subsequently caused damage to the master cylinder pressure in the main braking system. causing the brake pedal to go to the floor and a need to be pumped to obtain pressure in the braking system. honda claims it is due to the age of the car but the tsb 96-050 clearly identifies liability of the abs system shipped with improperly tighten plugs. this is what they are requiring owners to take the car back and pay for. *ak
Vehicle was taken to the dealer because the abs light illuminated. the dealer determined that the abs control module had to be replaced. *ak *mr
Vehicle was taken to the dealer because fuel was leaking. dealer replaced two fuel lines, two brake lines, and one vent purge line. *ak *nm
Malfunctioning abs modulator and accumulator were replaced for $1400.00 at 93700 miles. 1995, honda, accord v6 sedan.*ak
While driving 20 mph driver applied the brakes and they failed. vehicle failed to stop completely and collided with the vehicle in front. upon impact, both frontal air bags failed to deploy. vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection. the cause ha not been determined at this time. *ak
my abs has gone out. the brakes still work but, i do not have the same braking ability.
Abs light continues to stay on no matter what i do. brakes feel hesitant. brake pads are fine, brake fluid level is fine. this same problem has occurred to a lot of people and all honda motor company keeps doing is ducking and dodging and its time for the proper authorities to do something. i feel ripped off. *jb
Honda accord 95. transmission problem, cost to fix: $2000. honda car not reliable. had other problems, replacement part: $700. dealer can't be trusted! brakes pulsating, fixed at pep boys: $200. brake problems! power driver's seat cost for fixing: $200. constant problem! still a problem, still not working well! timing belt change : $500. costs more than other cars to get this done! abs light came on, i have to replace modulator that is leaking, $1400. i want honda to be responsible and pay for the replacement. have always had problems. every time is something else! enough! i don't want to have to get a new car! i can't get a new car and used cars are not reliable either!!!!! *jb
Power window keeps running off the track. it needs a new rotator on all four windows. abs modulator has a leak in it. i am interested in a class action, less they want to fix my car. i don't think that it is fair that we put so much money into these cars with the tune-ups, and they still break down
Abs system not working, took to dealer and was told the modulator was leaking and that possibly other abs components were bad but that i would have to pay $70 to check it out. was qouted "anywhere from $300 to $3,000" to fix and after telling the service manager that i had read that it was a common problem with the 95 accords, he confirmed that it was but said "it's really no big deal you still have regular brakes". i believe a problem like this should not occur on a car with only 50,000 miles and have read of many, many other people with the same model\year having the same problem. i think honda should repair the problem at no charge since it is an important safety feature.*ak
Abs light came on followed by continuous pumping of the modulator assembly. the dealer quoted $1600 to replace the defective part. nlm
Honda accord hydraulic cylinder split on highway. brakes failed. thankfully, was able to manuaver the car to a safe.
This seems to be a persistent issue for 1994 through 1998 honda cars. no safety defect listed. *ak
Abs light comes on after routine service. service mechanic says leakage around seals of abs unit. paid $150 to have seals replaced--mostly labor. after service, brakes mushy and abs light still comes on. based on mechanic recommendation had master cylinder replaced and system bled again. problem still not fixed. abs pump will work for first few minutes while driving, but then runs constantly and quits, causing abs warning light to come on and system to shut down. mechanic says next step is to replace entire assembly at $1200+. for a system that is hardly used, this is unacceptable. it should last the life of the car!*ak
The modulator and accumilator needs replacing ,and reported to cost $1500. if the part cost this much, i would think that it should last the life of the car.*ak
Consumer states there was loss of vehicle control due to premature wear of the rotors. please provide additional information.*jb

While traveling on highway anti lock brake light appears on the dashboard. ant ilock feature doesn't work at all. dealership is aware of problem.*ak
The abs warning light came on while driving. the dealer advised that the abs hydraulic system had failed and that repairs would cost over $700. honda customer service refuses to take any responsibility for this defect, although it appears that this is a common problem in 1994 and 1995 accords. why hasn't nhtsa mandated a recall? the abs systems on these vehicles are clearly defective. honda is trying to avoid paying millions to repair their defective products. nhtsa has an obligation to assist the driving public and compel honda to repair their defective cars. *ak
The abs system has been replaced twice. consumer has an extended warranty but it doesn't cover the abs system. *jg
Abs light has come on, there is a grinding sound when applying brakes, and abs pump is running constantly when driving.*ak
Abs light came on 1 day after routine service. returned to dealer and informed that abs module and accumulator bad (pump running constantly). bleeding system didn't change condition. cost to exceed $1450.00 for repairs. i have checked the internet and have found many instances of abs failures with honda vehicles, all in and around 1995 model vehicles. i feel that there is a problem that honda is aware of but isn't telling anyone about, nor are they willing to assist in the repair costs! the applicable web site is www.cartrackers.com/forums/live/honda/32.html, if you wish to check my claims out for yourself. i hope you will investigate this situation!
The abs light come on. the honda dealer price was $1700 to replace abs modulator and acummulator. *ak
While driving 75 mph the oil drained from the vehicle, causing engine to lock up. dealer determined that plug from engine housing came out. *ak while driving the service engine soon light illuminated, vehicle would not accelerate or respond, engine locked up, consumer was not able to restart the vehicle, dealer replaced the timing belt, balancer shaft belt, balancer shaft seal and a retainer was put in to hold the shaft seal in place, consumer has been informed that a new engine is needed, consumer states there are two bulletins regarding the front balancer shaft seal and the front balancer seal, however honda will only pay 1/3 of the engine replacement cost. faulty brakes were causing a noise in the right front, dealer machined rotors and serviced front brakes. *slc
Abs light comes on after system attempts to build pressure. very common problem among hondas of this and other years. *ak
Brake pedal can go to the floor before it stops increasing stoppping distances. dealer found brake fluid leaking, and abs accumulator modulator had to be replaced. please added the vin #.*ak
Consumer stated that while son was driving about 65 mph the rear brakes locked up, causing vehicle to roll up a few times. dealer had replaced abs module twice, and could not explain what had happened with the brakes.*ak
When braking he has to pump brake pedal very hard to get braking action, dealer replaced master cylinder.*ak
The abs light indicator has come on in the vehicle. the abs brakes are not working. have had an independant mechanic look at it and told us this is a fairly common problem honda is having. we have not been involved in an accident but are being very cautious.*ak
Abs dashboard light came on one day, associated with a grumbling noise from the front wheels. the dealer said that sometimes these problems went away by bleeding the brakes, but that usually didn't work for long. i now suspect that the problem probably occurred before we bought the car, they bled the brakes to get the light off, and it "appeared" (re-appeared!) after i bought it...but i have no proof of that. the dealer wants $1500 to replace the modulator and accumulator. i've since seen enough complaints on this to suspect there is a problem with honda abs systems in general. i do not believe these are "wearout" components. *ak
Abs system is leaking fluid. dealer has been notified. *ak consumer feels this is a safety issue and that a recall should be issued. *slc
The abs light went on, dealer inspected it and determined that it was the abs modulator that went bad. an estimate of $1800 to replace it was made. dealer did not offer assisstance with cost, repair was not made.*ak
My abs light comes on and even when i have a brake job done it stays on. *ak
Abs light on dashboard has come on. dealership has examined vehicle, and determined that abs module was leaking fluid. please provide any additional information/attachments.*ak

Pedal would occasionally go all the way to floor with diminished braking ability, master cylinder replaced.*ak
Consumer noticed the abs light illumintated, the vehicle was taken to a dealership which stated that since the abs system was never used, it had unreleased pressure and build up and the abs system destroyed itself, the consumer feels that this a safety defect that should be corrected by the manufacturer. *slc
Brakes are not working properly. *ak abs failed and was replaced. *slc
While traveling noticed abs indicator light on. the dealer replaced modulator and accumulator. two days later the abs light came on again. the dealer replaced the controller as a possible cause. *yh

Abs light came on. had honda dealership inspect; confirmed accumulator needed replacement; cost $450.00. abs light returned/intermittent. took to honda dealer; confirmed that abs modulator assembly needs replacement; quoted $1313. american honda won't help because we are third owner, car is out of warranty, and they don't consider the loss of the abs system a safety threat because the analogue breaks will still stop the car.*ak
Abs modulator solenoid failed, fluid leaked, abs shut down. *ak
