How Do You Fix Honda FCW System Failed? (Forward Collision Warning)

To be honest, I've driven a few vehicles without systems like this, but once I got my Honda Accord, I quickly adjusted. I couldn't imagine driving without the visual and oral warnings. They make me feel secure, knowing that if I ever got into trouble, I could quickly hit the brakes.
This system even allowed me to drive a bit more assertively. However, one day, I noticed an irritating "FCW sensor failed to work" warning message, and the accompanying warning light began flashing on my screen.
Can I Drive with FCW System Failed Warning?
Of course, I could drive on, but the perspective of not being warned of a possible collision was bugging me. So I parked my Honda and tried to find a solution online. After an hour of reading various Honda forums, I found no answers to my issue. I decided to open the owner's manual and comb through this massive handbook for a solution.
Of course, reading through the paper owner's manual is neither convenient nor time-efficient, so I decided to share my experience and what I learned from it. Identifying the reasons for a Honda Accord FCW system failure isn't too difficult after reading the owner's manual; there are actually two main causes of FCW system failure.

How Do You Fix FCW System Failure?
The first reason is severe weather conditions. If you happen to drive through adverse weather conditions like heavy rain, dust, fog, snow, ice, or low temperatures, you may see the FCW signal failure on your screen.
Why does this happen?
This system works using a variety of sensors like radars, cameras, and lasers, and extremely poor weather conditions can cause them to stop functioning.
Another reason is excessive internal heat. There are several sources of increased heat inside your car; it might come from your car's cooling system being directed towards the FCW sensors. If this occurs, the sensors can be damaged, and you will not receive the braking alert needed to avoid a potential accident on the road.
We've pointed out the two main factors causing FCW failure. Of course, there are a few minor reasons that may lead to issues with the sensors, such as wear and tear on the components. Regular maintenance can help address this.
You should also take your Honda Accord to a car mechanic or official dealership to inspect the software for any issues or bugs, especially after updates.
So, how can you fix an FCW system failure on a Honda Accord? The simplest and most obvious solution is to park your car in a safe place, turn off the engine, and wait for around 15 to 20 minutes to cool off. Then, restart the engine. Hopefully, your system will reset and the FCW system failure message or warning lights will disappear.

If this doesn't work and the problem continues due to the reasons we've mentioned, you must address the source of the problem. In case of extreme heat causing sensor overheating, turn on your air conditioner and direct the airflow towards the windshield, as the camera is positioned there.
Be mindful of installing aftermarket interior lighting or powerful headlights, as they may be a source of increased heat. Always keep your windshield clean from debris, stains, or mud.
If you spot any of these on the windshield, try to clear it thoroughly, as they can interfere with the sensors. The last resort to fix an issue with the FCW system is to manually reset it, but I recommend visiting a professional mechanic for this task.
