Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate. the contact shut the engine off and restarted the vehicle, and it abnormally lunged forward. the failure recurred while the contact was driving at different speeds. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated that the throttle body would have to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 45,000. *tr

Twice within the same week while driving, the engine throttle suddenly disengaged. the first time i was making a left hand turn with oncoming traffic. second time was driving on surface street which forced me to pull off the side of the road. extremely dangerous! *tr

The car was traveling on the highway at the speed of 70 mph when it just stopped responding to the gas pedal being pressed. the car came almost to a complete stop and was lucky enough to make it to the side of the rode. the car was almost hit by a truck which swerved into the median to avoid hitting the car. with the car alongside the rode it would not start. the throttle body had failed. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to restarted the vehicle several minutes later. the contact took the vehicle to a dealer for diagnostic testing and the test results determined that there was a defective throttle body assembly. the dealer replaced the throttle body assembly. the failure mileage was 40,000. the vin was not available.

Was driving 2011 ford fusion then shut down to idle, no power, almost got re ended, pulled over and put in park turned off and restarted problem was gone but recurred less than 2 tenths of mile. repeated steps with caution floored gas peddle but still happen. autozone checked it and cleared the computer. happen right away after leaving. called ford could not repair because no codes. problem came back 5 days later. at intersection light change green car did same thing, stuck in middle on intersection. put in park and restart was hard to start. red light now just got out of traffic way. car is at ford now. this is a very bad safety feature and will cause an accident sooner or later. ford said they have had a few problems but no recall. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the speed reduced rapidly and independently. the contact was almost unable to control the vehicle. the check engine warning light illuminated. the contact stopped at a shoulder where the vehicle was shutdown and restarted but the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was inspected by dealer. the contact repaired the vehicle on his own by replacing the throttle body. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure and current mileage was 50,743.

Driving on highway at 65 miles went car would lose power and couldn't accelerate and car started to shake when came to a stop, cut car off, waited a min, cut car on, took a couple extra cranks before turning over, and car worked fine this had happened 3 times and is very random and dangerous. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated while at a stop light, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into the rear of another vehicle then continued accelerating until the contact put the vehicle in park. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was unavailable. updated 06/07/13*lj

The car suddenly loses power when driving. there is no control of acceleration. this dangerous if this does it while in traffic. the code on the error is pt1111 and pt1112. ford has no parts available and on back order. some one is going to be seriously injured because they will not be able to control their vehicle. *tr

Car dies while driving, surges at times, had been happening on and off. died part way through a large intersection on 7-13-13, luckily i just avoided a collision. it would start and go a few feet, then surge and die. called crater lake ford in medford, or, they stated very busy that day and had not heard of the symptoms i described. placed a call to dave's import service they said they would look at the car. within 45 min they had diagnosed failed throttle body. *tr

The car was parked, and when i put it on reverse to back out, there was a beeping sound that said "power steering fault" and the wheel was super hard i could not continue to drive, so i put the car on park and turned it off. left the car, and when my husband went to get the car, it turned on fine & drive fine. two days later the same thing. wondering if this is a recall or this can be replaced by ford????? first a few months ago, the "throttle body" & now this!!!!! *tr

On the morning of february 7th 2013, i noticed the vehicle's acceleration and deceleration was ridged and jumpy. prior to this problem, the vehicle has shut off randomly approximately three times while in drive and in motion. this prompted me to bring the vehicle in for maintenance at a ford dealer auto center. they determined the power takeoff unit and drive shaft were faulty, replaced both parts and returned the vehicle to me on february 15th 2013. on march 18th 2013, the vehicle shut off again while driving at highway speeds on a busy road, forcing me to navigate cautiously to a shoulder. the engine light and wrench light were illuminated this time. i shut the vehicle off, waited 5 minutes, and restarted. the engine light remained on and the vehicle was drivable. i quickly returned the vehicle to the previous ford auto center, in which they discovered the throttle body was faulty. they replaced the throttle body and returned the car to me on march 21st 2013. on march 22nd 2013, the engine cover fell off while the car was in motion, i immediately returned vehicle to the previous ford auto center, they replaced with new engine cover. as of today, the vehicle is again showing hesitation at acceleration and deceleration, rpm dash meter needle bounces plus minus 500rpms during acceleration and deceleration. breaking is not smooth or instant, the vehicle tends to jump during breaking. at coasting speeds, the vehicle also jumps. these are similar problems that occurred prior to the vehicle spontaneously shutting off. this problem is alarming and an extreme safety hazard to yourself and others around you, notably at high highway speeds. ford has been presented with the issue and has claimed that the issues are all unrelated, even though the vehicle shuts off each time. i am concerned for my safety and the safety of others driving this model, 2011 ford fusion sel awd.

Car just stalled pulling out of a driveway. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that the speed control warning light was illuminated. the engine rpms then increased excessively as the vehicle accelerated independently and stalled. the vehicle was inspected by the dealer and the throttle body was replaced however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to dealer a second time and the cause of failure was not determined. there were no further repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 48,000. the current mileage was 52,369.

veh died while driving going 85 miles an hr and just cuts off. *tr

Veh died while driving and ck eng light is on had tp replace throttlebody 490.00. *tr

While approaching a red light, the vehicle seemed to slip out of gear and lose power. the wrench light went on and when i went to accelerate, the vehicle would not do so. i was able to limp the car to the side of the road and turned if off. when i restarted, it ran fine. i took the vehicle to the dealer the next day and they could not find anything wrong as no codes had been tripped. i did not have another incident until june of 2013 at which time i was driving at 55 miles per hour and again, the vehicle just lost acceleration and the wrench light went on. luckily was not in heavy traffic and able again to get to the side of the road, turn it off and restart. i took the car back to the dealer and again, no code tripped, nothing could be found. on the way home from the dealer and driving at a speed of 60 mph, again the same problem. i took the vehicle back to the dealer the next day which was june 12, 2013 and they gave me a loaner car to drive until they determined the problem. . on june 18, the dealer called me and said i had to bring the loaner back because the part they needed to repair my vehicle (the part being a throttle body) was on back order and would take a few days to come in. it is now june 26, 2013. the part is still not in, according to the mechanic at the dealership, this part is in high demand!! what should that tell anyone???? my car to date on average loses acceleration at least 5 or 6 times a trip no matter how far i drive, it's extremely dangerous! thus, i now i have to rent a vehicle at partially my expense ( have extended warranty) it seems to me i shouldn't have to pay anything for a rental!! this is a ford manufacturing issue, and in my opinion should be investigated for recall!!! *tr

I bought this 2011 ford fusion at 40,000 miles and since it has been at 45,000 miles i been having stalling and idle problems . i thought i was going crazy until i seen an article in the news today . my car has stalled on the hwy to where on numerous occasions i have almost been hit. i have had to pull over and restart it. i also see the wrench when it happens. i also have been sitting still at lights to where my car would idle up real fast. my car also pops and gets stuck when i change gears. i hate this car. i just pray something gets done before someone really gets hurt including myself .... *tr

The car just will just stall out while driving on freeway or street. i know from what i have read that it is the throttle body. it loses all power and just dies while driving. this has happened multiple times and the last time my kids and i almost died in the car. it is awful how this happened and the part was backordered and is extremely expensive to fix. *tr

Driving normal for around an hr then all of a sudden a lighted wrench shows on dash and the accelerator does not engage properly and car feels like it is very rough and low idle. power brakes and power steering work fine and can pull over but was in a turnaround for a highway access rd. turned vehicle off and turned it back on again and it worked ok. next day it happened twice, one of those times just from the start of turning on vehicle and trying to leave parking lot of work, and second time was on a 45mph rd which felt dangerous. same thing accelerator stopped working and it coasted down till i could put in park and turn of vehicle and turn back on. it does not work if you are coasting and put it in neutral and turn off and on as the problem is still there. afraid of it happening on highway. seems like a software or sensor issue with throttle body as when you do give it gas on the peddle it feels like the throttle plate is blocked or trying to open up but not enough to go just small weak spurts. *tr

Without warning the vehicle began shaking losing power. seconds later it would not accelerate. i had to stop in the middle of a busy intersection, put the car in park, and restart it. this resolved the issue temporarily but caused a very dangerous situation. it has happened again and the mechanic's thought is that it is a problem with the throttle body and it needs to be replaced. the vehicle is 2,000 miles past the manufacturers warranty. such an unsafe situation is terrifying and frustrating, as the vehicle has under 40,000 miles on it. please issue a mandatory recall!!!! *tr

2nd incident w/ gas peddle stopping working while driving w my children in the car. wrench light came on and i put on my flashers and turned off ignition due to burning smell coming from under the hood should note every time this has happened i have just put gas in my car as well, also had to have a new battery put on my 1yr and 10 month old car today. restarted the car and was only luckily 100yrds or less from my driveway so will call and have car towed to dealership again. car is not safe for me and my family!!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that whenever traveling over 40 mph, the wrench warning icon illuminated and the vehicle would loose power. the contact stated that the accelerator pedal would also become heavy and resistant when the failure occurred. the vehicle had not been to the dealer for inspection of the failure. the failure mileage was 28,000 and the current mileage was 41,000. *tr

While travel ing up a busy hwy in around 2 in the afternoon, the gas peddle quit working and car started to violent shake . at the time of incident i was traveling at 45 mph and could have been seriously injured. pulled to the side rd. put the car in park and turned off the ignition and restarted the car and gas peddle worked now and i drove it to dealership where they kept it for six days and did not do any repairs on it. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while traveling 60 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated as the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to merge to the side of the road. the vehicle was restarted and began to function normally. the contact later experienced the same failure. the vehicle was able to be driven to a private mechanic where it was confirmed that the throttle body had failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the issue. the failure mileage 41,000 and the current mileage was 41,010. ..updated 12/11/12 *bf the consumer stated when the throttle body malfunctioned the vehicle would loose power and he would have to put the vehicle in park and then re-start it. updated 12/12/12

Today was the fourth time my accelerator failed to work on my car. it has happened on the highway doing 65 and at low speeds. the dealer tells me it is the throttle body and that they are familiar with the problem. they also tell me it will happen again. ford motor refuses to fix the problem under warranty until the dealer can reproduce this intermittent problem or its computer systems confirms a problem. neither could be done when i took the car to the dealer for repair. the internet demonstrates others with this exact same problem. i am worried that this problem will reoccur in an inopportune time causing an accident and injury. when it occurs, the accelerator stops working, but the engine is still running. a wrench light appears on the dash. i am able to coast to a stop, but must put the car in park and restart the car for the problem to temporarily resolve. ford seems to be aware that this problem exists, but is refusing to make the warranty repair. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph in rainy weather, the wrench and engine warning lights illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle would not accelerate when depressing the accelerator pedal. the contact shut the engine off and restarted the vehicle without failure. the failure recurred intermittently as the contact drove at various speeds but only in rainy weather. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 52,000. *tr

As we were traveling we suddenly began slowing to a halt. though my husband was pressing the gas pedal and the engine was running, there was no response. luckily he was able to steer the car to the shoulder before we stopped completely. we were on a sparsely traveled road at the time. after checking under the hood, repeatedly trying to push the pedal and calling roadside assistance, he finally turned the engine off and then restarted it. the throttle seemed to work fine and we continued to our destination. the following day the same thing occurred. again we were not in heavy traffic and there was a shoulder available for us to get to. this time he immediately turned the engine off and restarted it with everything returning to normal. we were very fearful of this occurring in heavy traffic or where there was not a shoulder available. we took the car back to the dealer where they charged us $387.43 to replace the throttle body #ds7z-9e926-a. *tr

The car continuously goes limp at highway speeds and also while in traffic. it is intermittent but has occurred over 50 times. there are times where it will die on me a dozen times in a 10 mile drive. the wrench and emissions warning lights go on and i lose all ability to accelerate but do not lose electrical power and the engine does not turn off. restarting the vehicle temporarily fixes it, but also clears the warning lights so my mechanic cannot diagnose the problem. it is so dangerous and just a matter of time until i get in an accident. there are no warning signs before it happens and no remedy other than restarting, whether on the highway or in the middle of an intersection. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle decelerated. the check engine and transmission warning lamps then illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the electronic throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 45,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled with the illumination of the check engine warning light. the electronic failure warning lights also illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic, who stated that the failure was caused by the throttle body. the vehicle was repaired. the failure was reported to the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 45,000. the current mileage was 49,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that he was experiencing a recurring failure in which the vehicle would rapidly accelerate at any time without warning. in addition, the vehicle would abnormally accelerate when the brakes were depressed. the contact would have to utilize extreme force on the brake pedal in order to get the vehicle to stop. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they replaced the control software but could not determine the cause of failure. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 20,800. updated 08/28/12*lj

6/14/12 car was low on fuel, but not on empty and message indicated 32 miles to e. driving up hill car lost power, did not die, moved very slowly. able to get off street into parking lot of restaurant. car seemed to regain power, so tried to pull back on street going down hill, but at edge of lot, i realized the brakes were not responding. i managed to avoid car coming and was able get back into the parking lot as pulling into parking spot now slight surge of speed but still no brakes and hit restaurant's sign. took car to dealer, could not duplicate problem and blamed it all on low fuel. on 6/20 this time with tank almost full. had same problem, car suddenly had no power, but did not die. i pulled over and turned it off and waited several minutes. when restarted went about four miles and happened again. stopped, turned off, restarted and went a little further, but now check engine light on. fortunately, both times not going 60 miles on the highway and suddenly no power had towed to dealer and this time, replaced the throttle body. said it was an updated version. if they know there is a problem and have an updated version, why is there no recall? i think this could be very dangerous. *jb

On 6/7/12 was driving car and check engine light and wrench light came on while driving on the road, 30 seconds later, engine shut off completely, could not accelerate and had to get the vehicle towed to the dealership. i was told that the purge valve and fuel filler pipe had to be replaced. on 6/11/12, picked up my vehicle from the dealership and was charged over $500 dollars for the service. 20 minutes later while driving on i45 north at 65 mph. same thing happened, car completely turned off, had to "coast" to the shoulder and avoid any vehicles. my vehicle, again, was towed to the dealership. this is very dangerous and must be taken care of immediately. the fact that i was charged over $500 to take care of the issue and for it to happen again is absurd. *tr

Anytime vehicle slows to a speed of approx. 20 mph.,it seems to want to stall then seconds later without touching gas pedal, speeds up and accelerates. i have had the vehicle in for service to village ford / dearborn michigan and they continually tell me no problem is detected. i have had several individuals drive my vehicle and have experienced the same issue. i have also located an article from my local news chanel wxyz speaking of this issue, stating it was not yet serious enough for recall. with ford motor's history i would say this needs to be looked into before serious injury does occur. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while sitting in drive with the brakes depressed, the vehicle rapidly accelerated without warning. the steering and braking capabilities had become inoperable and the contact was unable to stop the failure. the vehicle crashed into a guard rail. the contact was not injured. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and repaired. the contact could not confirm the cause of the failure or the exact repairs made to the vehicle. the failure and the current mileages were 6,431.

In april 2012 as i was making a right hand turn at about 15 miles per hour the car just basically stopped. the power was on but the car would not go. again on sunday, august 11, 2013 as i was making a left hand turn, the car basically stopped in the middle of an intersection, causing the driver behind to honk and wonder if i was moving. i put the flashers on and the vehicle "limped" through the intersection. i could have been in a serious accident in the middle of five lanes of traffic! i shut the car off and restarted same problem. i shut the car off again and was able to drive home. i took the vehicle to the dealership on monday, august 12th and they diagnosed a bad throttle-body. they replaced the throttle body. i then looked on the internet to see if there was a problem with my car and i saw a news article posted in february 2013 with ford having failures with the throttle body in my vehicle. *tr

I bought my car on december, 2011. 1st problem was the dashboard turning off for no reason. the 2nd problem is life threatening. i am driving down the road and out of no where the dash board lights up, the readers go crazy, and my car will decelerate to 25mph and will not go over that speed. every time i have had to pull over and when i do the car shakes. i turned my car off and when i turn it back on its like it never happened. no lights stay on and the car drives like a champ. it does it at random times, and random speeds. i took the car to a ford dealership in may 2012 and they could not find a problem with it. this happened 3 times and in august i took the car in twice, the first time nothing was found, the second time they change the throttle body on it. problem fixed right?? not even close. in november it did it again. i called the dealer but they could not see my car for a few days and didn't have any loaner vehicles. the car then began to randomly jerk at a stop lights or when i changed gears. this week the flare up happened again but this time the car jerked when i put it in drive and the engine light and wrench light both turned on. i continued to drive and right when i started going up a hill the dashboard lit up, the readers went crazy and my car started rolling backwards. i was able to break but when i pushed on the gas the car barely crept up the hill. the wrench light then turned off but the engine light stayed on. the next morning i took it to the dealer. when i took it in the engine light was on but when they checked it the engine light was off and there were no codes on the computer. i am scared of the car i am driving. i know the car has a problem and so does the dealer but they just can't figure out what the problem is. i called ford but all they said was that they were working with the dealer. i am paying for a car i can't drive. *tr

While driving on crowded 6 lane street, car just lost power, i was able to pull over before being hit by oncoming traffic. car was towed to rivertown ford and they stated it was the throttle body, this has happen again on 12/05/2013 as i was driving all of a sudden my car slowing stopped moving regardless of how much i pressed on the gas. taken to rivertown ford again and they say it's the throttle body and it cost over $500 to fix.

Today when turning into a parking space with my right foot lightly on the brake, my car suddenly accelerated. i quickly turned the wheel and braked to avoid hitting a cement post. two weeks ago when going up a hill without my cruise control on, the car would not accelerate when i was pushing on the gas pedal. i released the pedal and the car lurched forward so fast i had to brake. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that sporadically when the accelerator pedal was pressed, the vehicle will not accelerate. the contact stated that there are also instances when the vehicle would abnormally accelerate without the pedal being engaged. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the throttle body and cable would need to be replaced. the manufacturer was contacted and advised that the throttle cable and body were not under warranty. the failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 47,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact was driving approximately 65 mph uphill when a loud noise emitted outside of the vehicle with a sudden loss of engine power. the contact was able to coast to the shoulder where the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. the technician advised that the failure was contributed to the electronic throttle body. the faulty part was replaced. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 33,658.

I had just purchased my 2011 ford fusion just over a month when i encountered my first stall on my way home from work. i was fully stopped at an intersection waiting for the stop light to turn green. i pressed down on the accelerator only to realize the engine was no longer running. the car behind me bumped into my back bumper anticipating i would be accelerating through the intersection. there was nothing on the dashboard indicating the engine had died. i put the car into park and was able to get it to start normally. i didn't have any further problems until about 6 months later in june 2012. the second time, i was turning right into a parking lot and as i made the turn and pressed down on the accelerator i discovered the car was coasting with the engine dead and the dashboard console lit up as if everything was still running normally. again, i put the car into park and the engine started immediately and everything was back to normal again. the third time just happened in february 2013 when i again was stopped at a stop light. when the light turned green, i pressed down on the accelerator only to discover the engine was no longer running and no indication on the dashboard anything was wrong. i did the same thing and put the car in park and the engine started and everything returned to normal. for the first 2 times, the ford dealership just shrugged their shoulders and said there wasn't anything they could do if they couldn't duplicate the problem. the 3rd time, they did a software update based on a bulletin from ford the computer wasn't possibly shifting at the proper times which could possibly cause the engine to stall. so now i have to wait and see if the software update really fixed the problem or i will have the pleasure of experiencing another sudden surprise of having a zombie car that appears to be alive but isn't. *tr

On a few separate occasions, while either sitting in traffic at a light or driving my 2011 ford fusion has stalled in the middle of traffic. it hasn't happened for a few months and there is no rhyme or reason to when it will happen. when the stalling occurs the car literally shuts down in the middle of traffic and i have to restart the car to proceed. *tr

While accelerating car goes into limp mode....diagnosed as throttle body stuck open. *tr

Original incident occurred in june 2011. vehicle lost all acceleration unexpectedly and was towed to dealership. vehicle was only 6 months old and throttle body was replaced under warranty. has subsequently happened two more times. the second time the dealership service could not recreate the problem. the third time was july 2013. again vehicle was towed to dealership. advised that it was again a failure of the throttle bottle. part alone will be $400 to replace and will not be available for 10 days to 3 weeks. this will be the third throttle bottle on a car that is less than 3 years old. the failure poses a severe safety risk if occurs on high speed highway while in middle or left lanes. *tr

This is the 3rd report that i am filing in regard to my 2011 ford fusion. the throttle body assembly needs to be recalled. whether going highway speeds or in traffic less than 30mph, the vehicle will intermittently lose power to the throttle. the wrench and emissions lights both go on, the vehicle shakes violently and i lose all ability to accelerate. the only remedy is to restart the vehicle, which i often need to do in the middle of the road as i do not have the ability to get to a breakdown lane or other safe stopping point. this has happened on the highway, causing me to have to cross 4 lanes of highway traffic with no ability to accelerate. it has also occurred in the middle of intersections with turning traffic as well as at traffic lights, causing other drivers to unsafely pass me on the right. please note that when i do get into an accident, i will be finding both ford motor company and the national highway transportation safety administration responsible and liable for all injuries and damages due to the number of complaints and the administration's decision not enforce a recall. ford refuses to repair the issue unless they can replicate the problem; however, when i restart the vehicle the error is cleared. i have taken numerous videos of the problem and ford still refuses to replace the defective part. it is simply a matter of time before somebody gets killed. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. the contact stated that while driving and attempting to lift his foot from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal, there was not enough room. he noticed the failure more often when he was trying to make an abrupt stop. the vehicle was not inspected or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the current mileage was approximately 1,000. the failure mileage was approximately 500.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact was driving approximately 60 mph when the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed the contact that he would need to replace the throttle body. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 100.
