We have classified the 779 complaints from 2010 Ford Fusion about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a traffic light, the vehicle failed to accelerate over 5 mph. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 5,000 and the current mileage was 5,300. *tr
2010 ford fusion. consumer writes in regards to throttle body failure. *smd the consumer stated while driving at a speed of 45 mph. she heard what she thought was a light pop, and the vehicle immediately started loosing power, and no matter how hard she applied the accelerator, if had no effect on the vehicle. *jb the consumer stated she experienced another failure on march 15, 2014. updated 04/02/14
Car started to lose power and speed while driving. pressing the gas barely made it go for a few hundred feet, then it died. on busy highway, but was able to make it to side street and push past a drive way. restarted and was able to drive another couple of miles. after about 1.5 hours of waiting, it died 2x while driving about 2 miles home. this has happened before (a couple of years ago) to this same vehicle (taken to dealer at least 2x for the problem). based on what i read today online, it sounds like the "throttle body". trying to get the car to the dealer tomorrow. *tr
Was driving 70 miles an hour on interstate 64 e and thought car died so i pulled over as fast as i could to get out of harms way, dozens of cars flying by and honking, had a hard time getting to a safe place to pull over and figured out my car didn't did die after all, it was running. and it wouldn't accelerate and a wrench light was on. i shut my car off and restarted it and idled rough for a minute and wrench light went out so i proceeded on and it did it again about 60 miles further up the road so i turned around and headed home. not a good situation to be in, very unsafe. read reviews on this car and looks like i m not the only person with this same problem and ford should do something to resolve this problem . very well could have been an accident and they know about it. *tr
While driving my 2010 ford fusion sel on a back wrong i lost pressure to the throttle. my car had lost all of its speed. luckily i was able to pull over before a car could hit me. even if i pushed the gas it would not budge. i believe this is the electronic throttle body causing the problem. this is not the first time it has happened. this the 4 time. i am a college student traveling every day to school and back. not only on back roads but also on the highway where if i lose my acceleration i could be serious hurt. this is a problem with the car and it needs to be recalled and fixed. my own life is at risk driving this vehicle. *tr
While on the interstate going 70 mph i felt a loss of power in my fusion followed by a wrench light coming on. i was no longer able to accelerate and fortunately was on a stretch of the highway with a shoulder. after shutting off the car and restarting i was able to drive home. i had purchased an extended warranty and took it to have it looked at but since no lights were on no codes registered and i was told it was fine. the next day my car once again stopped working while i was on the interstate in the fast lane. very scary and dangerous. upon my second trip to the dealership it was determined the throttle body was defective and needed replaced. it appears this is a widespread problem that would have been nice to know about. *tr
yesterday, 12-18-13 while driving at approx. 65 mph on highway car throttle stopped responding and went into rough idle. did same thing 4 times and i narrowly escaped being rear ended. had to get to side of road and turn off engine. after letting car set for approximately 2 minutes car restarted and seemed to run fine until the next unpredictable incident. today 12-19-13 on way to dealership pulled into traffic and was almost broadsided. almost being killed 4 times in 24 hrs. suggests a major safety issue. dealership was aware of problem as soon as i mentioned it indicating this was not first time. dealership fixed issue even before discussing price as they said i could not drive car if this part was not replaced (again indicating a major safety issue that they were already aware of). according to nhtsa action # pe13003 this complaint has been under investigation since feb. 21, 2013. i feel this issue needs to be addressed before it leads to fatalities. called ford customer service on this date and was given very little assistance on the issue other than they would report it for internal investigation. feel that an immediate recall should be issued. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle exhibited a consistent and violent vibration. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer, who stated that the throttle body would need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 28,520.
My 2010 ford fusion stalled many times last weekend. i pulled the car over to the side of the road, put it in park, and turned it off and back on, and it ran fine to get me home. i had no further problems with it until today, roughly a week later. it stalled on me twice at speed, and i had to pull over, turn it off, and restart the engine, upon which it ran fine. each time it stalled, the wrench icon lit up on the dashboard after it stalled, but did not stay on once the engine was restarted. today after the third stall, i noticed the car was kind of jerking as i pulled it to a stop, but as i pressed the gas nothing happened. i was told by ford that this is the throttle position sensor (tps). this switch almost got me killed in heavy traffic more than once and it's a matter of time before someone get killed because ford has yet to recall this part!!! *tr
I've only had this car (ford fusion 2010) for 7 months since then i've only had problems after problems. the dealer warranty was only good for 2 months and within the two months i've taken it back to the that sold me this car at least 3 times for different reasons. as of today i had to take the car to ford dealership to have service done which cost me $543.69. the throttle body and motor asy needed to be replace. so not happy with this car at all.. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact shifted into neutral, then park and was able to restart the vehicle. the failure recurred the following week. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 67,000.
I was driving at 50mph, suddenly the car would no longer accelerate. luckily i was able to coast to a pull off section on side of road. tool light came on. turned car off and then back on and was able to keep going. throttle body is cause. *tr
Couple months ago the car started to have problems shifting from one gear to another. the main problems was from 1 to 2. at a time, on a red light, the car didn't move for a few seconds even though the accelerator was being pressed. then the car suddenly jump and started going. the car started jump from one gear to another. later there was a transmission oil leak. and the car is getting worse there is no smooth transition between the velocities and the dealer said we had to paid for labor and parts. it seems unfair to have to pay for a manufacturer's issue. the transmission on this model is defective and there should be a check-out to this problem. *tr
This problem has happened twice within the past 3 days. at the first occurrence, we were driving rather slowly, appx. 35 mph. the car lost power without warning, and started misfiring violently. depressing the fuel pedal had no effect. the yellow wrench warning icon on the dash was lit. we were going down a slight hill on side street, so it was easy to drift to the side of the road. we put the car in park and allowed it to run for a few minutes, but it continued to misfire and seemed starved for fuel. it did keep running for about 5-10 minutes more before we shut it off. while waiting for the tow truck, my husband tried restarting the car. it started immediately and ran fine with no warning lights. the next day the mechanic checked it but could find no issue or record of an error code. he added "dry gas" in case the problem was due to water freezing in the fuel line. the weather is quite cold. the third day (today) i filled the fuel tank and added another bottle of "dry gas". i drove appx 35 miles (in several segments) then the problem happened again. this time i was in traffic, going appx 55 miles per hour. the behavior was identical: pronounced misfiring, no power, fuel pedal had no effect, wrench warning light on. i was fortunate to have barely enough momentum to get most of the way off the highway. this time i restarted the car after about 10 seconds. again, it started right up and i was able to drive the final 6 miles of my commute. in researching the problem, it seems that the cause may be the throttle assembly. we will be taking the car back to the repair shop and i will be happy to report back on the resolution. *tr
Car driving fine when it suddenly loses all throttle response. the little orange wrench light comes on. pulled car over to the shoulder and turned off the ignition. when i turned the car back on, it began working again. this is the second time this has happened. the first incident was a few weeks ago. very dangerous to lose throttle response. upon checking internet it appears that this problem is not uncommon. you need to look into this and get ford issue a recall. *tr
Vehicle stalled and went into limp mode causing me to have to pull to the side of the road. after stopping and restarting the car the car drove fine. car was diagnosed at a local ford dealer with a faulty throttle body. *tr
Saturday afternoon on 11/23/13 we were driving 57 mph when the car buckled and the little wrench came on. we were barely able to get off side of the road since there was a ditch beside us and we were on a state route so there were cars coming towards us and vehicles behind us. we waited a few minutes started the car and headed on our way. later on that same day around 10pm the car did the same thing and we had no power while trying to accelerate in the middle of the night and the little wrench comes on. this time there was less traffic at night so we were able to somewhat get off the road. again we sat there for awhile, started it back up and headed straight back to our house. since we know what the problem is already due to my wife having the same make, model, year of the car and her own mother having to replace the same thing. the dealership said it was the throttle body that needed replace. we are able to call the same dealership that my car was originally purchased from the same place where my wife got her car from and get the part needed. my wife's story with her car is a bit more intense while i was driving on the highway of 70 mph the car buckled and lost all power and cars were flying by almost not allowing me to get off the side of the road. almost got into an accident because of it. if they really want me to be a happy ford customer i would hope they would recall this knowing peoples lives and safety are at risk when the car loses all control while driving. only time will tell if i have to come back and voice another complaint. i come from a family of ford owners and i'm thinking it will stop with us. *tr
While driving my 2010 ford fusion i experienced something i was at a red light. while driving my car shook heavy 3 times i suddenly pulled over to check out the problem i pulled off after pulling over the problem occurred again then it suddenly accelerated in its own i applied the brake then tried to accelerate but my car didn't move i accelerated one more time my car then shook then took off. i found a forum website called fordfusion.net even on the motor trend website several people speak of once having this problem i'm having with my ford fusion ford doesn't want to do anything about it because they said i'm not under warranty i feel i shouldn't have to pay for something that was once on recall with this car i work and i'm in grad school my car is a must have for me i don't know what to do i even informed ford that their was several people on a website online that complained about the same problem even after the problem was fixed this is my first vehicle i've owned i'm in disbelief and really regret purchasing a ford car please help me. *tr
Driver was driving vehicle home from work when the acceleration stopped working while she was driving. driver stated that she heard a clunking noise when the acceleration stopped working that sounded almost like the vehicle was running out of gas, only the tank was full at the time. vehicle was towed to ford dealership where it was determined that the throttle body had failed. *tr
The problem i am about to describe has happened twice within 5 days. traveling down the interstate sudden loss of power with no response from the throttle. yellow wrench light came on rpm's went to 1000 each time. after pulling over and shutting the car off and then restarting the engine bounced and coughed and then ran normal with no yellow wrench. i have called ford and will have the problem taken care of tomorrow. how come they all know it's a throttle body problem but ford is not addressing the safety issue with customers. it is all over the internet an obvious known problem. toyota got killed for sudden acceleration but ford does nothing for sudden loss of power. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while traveling approximately 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration power. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the throttle body had failed. the vehicle was being repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while traveling approximately 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the throttle body had failed. the vehicle was being repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 31,000. updated 01/07/14*lj updated 01/09/14
Going down 4 lane road at 45-50 mph. vehicle lost power & idle ability. shut it off & after a few minutes, it started up again but continued to repeat this malfunction several times. dealer checked codes & replaced electronic throttle body control & emissions purge valve. informed that this was common problem, but not covered by warranty. *tr
I was on an on ramp on the way in to work in the morning when my vehicle lost propulsion. i was accelerating and then the accelerator became unresponsive and the engine idled roughly between 750-1000 rpm. the 'wrench' light came in and i was able to roll to the side of the freeway. i turned off and restarted my vehicle and the malfunction had apparently cleared as the issue has yet to return, but will. i say 'will return' because the exact same thing happen 23sep while on the freeway traveling 35mph during morning rush hour. i brought the vehicle to the local ford dealership for a diagnostic test ($) and they found nothing and had no ideas as to the potential cause. i was willing to accept it as a fluke, but now that it has happened again i know there must be a problem. i am hesitant to return to the dealership for another $80 diagnostic test when it seems that this is a prevalent issue... (nearly 95% of the complaints of this vehicle on this website). is there a recall in the works for this vehicle malfunction? *tr
The car started to run rough, the engine light went on, there was no response to the gas pedal. i had enough speed to move to the shoulder. i turned off the car and the issue seemed to resolve itself. i happened two more times in the last three miles to my house. *tr
I was about to drive onto to the main highway and all of the sudden my car started shaking violently, dropped speed to less than 10mph, no response from accelerator, car would not go. i was terrified because it was late at night and being a female alone at night with a car acting up is not comfortable. i pulled over after almost being hit after the drastic deceleration, i turned the car off and waited a few moments and restarted it. it drove fine about 2 minutes before having the same issue, i was trying to just get home. this happened 4 more times before i reached my home which was 10 minutes away. i was on my way to pick up my child and am thankful that he was not in the car at this time. is it gonna take someone being seriously injured or killed before ford recalls all affected vehicles and fixes the issue. i have always been a die hard ford supporter driving no other manufacturer but after the safety of my family being put in jeopardy i am seriously considering another manufacturer and move on from ford. the issue is determined to be the throttle body. *tr
Instance #2 (in 2 days). unresponsive accelerator pedal. i went out to my car in the morning to go to work. started it up, backed out and went about 20 feet and the car started sputtering hard with the wrench lighting up just like the day before. i stopped and shut the car off. restarted the car and noticed when it was turning over it did it a lot longer than usual, almost like it was stuck or something. i drove it about 1 mile to a breakfast place with no problems, shut if off and went in. (note - there is an instance #3 right after this ). *tr
Instance #1. unresponsive gas pedal. i parked my fusion at the store and went in for 20 minutes. came out, started the car, backed up and pulled away slowly. about 30 feet from the parking spot in a heavily congested area the car jerked harshly and sputtered with the wrench lighting up. it would barely move even though i tried to tap the gas and then tried harder to get it out of the way and into a parking spot.. finally, i got in a parking spot and shut the car off. i popped the hood and remote started the car. the engine ran normal with no sputtering. i got back in the car and drove 1.5 miles home with no problems. (see instance #2). *tr
I was driving northbound on interstate 5 in seattle when i suddenly felt a "tug" and lost all power to the engine and the "wrench" light came on. i was able to maneuver to the right-hand lane where the car lost all power to the engine and died in the middle of the high bridge. the electrical remained on. a state trooper pushed us off the highway and i had the car toward towed. my mechanic replaced the battery but a month later (dec. 15) the same thing happened again in nearly the same location (montlake exit of i-5 northbound). this time i was able to start it back up and drive it home. the dealer (autonation in bellevue) diagnosed a faulty throttle body. this is very similar to incidents being investigated by nhtsa per a report in usa today: http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/02/25/probe-ford-cars-suvs-stalling/1945799/. *tr
Throttle response stopped entirely at an intersection, resulting in a near rear-end collision. subsequent extreme rough idle, bogged-down engine behavior, and difficulty to start engine. faulty part is electronic throttle body, per nhtsa action number pe13003. *tr
I was driving south on coburg road about 10:00 am this morning and the car started to rock front and back and my speed suddenly dropped. i went from about 25 mph to drifting and about 2 to 5 mph in traffic. i coasted and turned at the next intersection and pulled over. all of a sudden a warning light came on to check the engine. i was able to restart the car and drive about 3 miles to the ford dealership. this happened 3 times on the way to the shop. the total cost was about $350 and i was told that it wasn't covered under warranty. i was told it was the throttle body. we have 2 ford fusions and i am concerned that the same thing will happen to the 2012 while my wife is driving. extremely unsafe. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact was driving 35 mph when the vehicle suddenly stalled. the contact placed the vehicle in park and restarted the vehicle after several attempts. the vehicle performed normally once restarted but the failure later recurred. the contact also stated that she had an issue with the vehicle jerking and failing to increase speed despite the accelerator pedal being depressed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
While driving approximately 45mph the car suddenly started running rough and lost all power. rpm decreased dramatically and the car would not accelerate, however the engine did not stop running. the wrench indicator came on as i managed to safely get to a parking lot. i turned off the engine and waited several minutes. i re-started the engine and drove home with no further incident. since the incident i took the car into a reputable shop for proper diagnostic which resulted in no indication or failure codes from the tests. there was no forewarning for the failure incident and i will say that i was in a precarious and dangerous traffic condition when the failure occurred. through further research i found the following: unfortunately this failure seems to be occurring more frequently and linked to a throttle body problem. the diagnostic codes for this failure apparently get erased when the car engine is cycled off then on, preventing a diagnostic test from capturing the code necessary for analysis (unless a diagnostic is performed while the incident is occurring). if the problem is a faulty throttle body the failure code should be p2111 or p2112. ford has changed the part number of the throttle body replacement part from the original part causing suspicion to be cast on the original part. this warrants a safety recall due to the nature of the failure and possible injury potential when failure occurs in traffic, but has not been recognized by ford .....yet. *tr
Driving along at normal highway speed the vehicles jerked once and then did not respond to pressing the gas pedal. as i coasted to side of the road, i noticed the rpm gauge sputtering between 500-1100 rpm. as i stopped the vehicle it began to shake. i turned off the ignition and restarted it. i drove another 5 miles and the problem recurred. this happened twice more before i arrived at my job at different speeds. *tr
Vehicle just stopped, couldn't accelerate, loss of power, couldn't get any speed. *tr
Owner was driving a 2010 ford fusion on a multi-lane highway in stop and go traffic approaching a two lane tunnel on friday, november 1, 2013. vehicle was non-responsive when pressuring the accelerator, so had to pull over onto shoulder of highway. even after turning the car off and then restarting the ignition, car would not move when pressing the accelerator, although it began to shake. the dashboard light displayed as wrench icon, which according to the owner's manual meant a potential transmission problem. aaa towed car to residential neighborhood. the next morning, saturday november 2, a third party towing company hired by ford roadside assistance arrived to tow vehicle to the nearest ford dealership. the tow truck urged driver to drive the car to dealership, and followed behind. after about 2 miles of driving on residential surface streets, car became nonresponsive to accelerator while driving around 10 mi/hr. the tow truck driver towed the vehicle the remaining distance to ford dealership in colma, california. after waiting for an hr, dealer mechanic reported that the throttle body needed to be replaced, and advised that the powertrain warranty was inapplicable despite vehicle being within the 5 yr / 60,000 mi window. the ford dealership performed the repair and collected payment the same day. after returning home with the vehicle, i discovered that pg 19 of the 2010 ford owner's manual showed that the throttle body was a covered part that ford should have replaced at no charge as an emissions-related component so long as the vehicle was within 8 yrs / 80,000 mi. ford customer service agreed that pg 19 showed that this part should have been covered under warranty. however, they advised that their internal ford computer database indicated that this part was only covered for hybrid vehicles despite the written manual making no such distinction. *tr
Car stalled on highway- had to pull over to shoulder and restart auto ran for at about 5 mph- did not react to accelerator. *tr
While trying to accelerate for a green light the car began to vibrate and would not accelerate at all. i was able to move to a safe place at idle only speed. the car was towed to a ford dealer who told me that the car could not be looked at until monday. the car is under a ford extended warranty. i was told by the ford warranty program, by phone, that i could rent a car and the cost would be covered for three days under the ford insurance program. i was billed for $359.24 for replacing a throttle body and motor asy which was not covered by the extended ford warranty and therefore the rental was not covered either. this included $119.95 for a pin points test which was completely unnecessary since ford has had to replace thousands of these parts and ford has sent bulletins to ford dealers about this problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while attempting to accelerate onto the highway, the wrench warning icon illuminated as the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was towed to a private mechanic for inspection, who advised that the throttle body and engine gasket would need replacing. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 71,000 and the current mileage was 72,000. updated 3/28/14*cn
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle resumed normal function once restarted. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer, who stated that the throttle body would need to be replaced. there was a concurrent investigation for the failure under nhtsa action number: pe13003 (engine). the manufacturer was contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
During the month of september, my car began suddenly shutting off while i was driving. this happened multiple times on the highway and surface roads. i would pull over, turn the car off and wait a few minutes. the car would work fine afterwards. i first had the battery checked which revealed a bad battery, i had it replaced. the car continued to have symptoms after the new battery was installed. i also noticed the stalling happened more when i filled the gas tank completely. i finally took the car back to the place i purchased it for diagnostics. i discovered that the throttle body was defective. i was told by a tech that the manufacturer had assembled new throttle bodies to replace the originals as the original throttle body did not work properly. apparently, the intake was not opening/closing properly therefore the engine was not getting enough gas at times. the shop was able to pull codes from the previous stall events, p2111 & p2112. they replaced the throttle body assembly, ~ $300.00. i see many complaints regarding this issue and expect/hope a recall will be issued in the near future. as a side note, my abs light was on as well. there was a known recall on the driver's side air bag assembly, shorted to ground. ford replaced the air bag assembly at no charge. i hope this information is helpful. *tr
1st event-when i accelerated at a red light the car shuttered and barely moved. luckily no collision. all of the warning lights came on. i turned the engine off. then i restarted with no warning lights showing and drove home. 2nd event--in heavy traffic, i accelerated and again it shuttered and stopped moving. all of the warning lights came on. i turned off the engine which caused a backup and fortunately no accident! i restarted the engine and the service engine light came on. worried that something might happen, i drove it to the ford dealership. the car was ten days out of warranty. i was without a car overnight. they replaced the throttle body assembly ($185.03) with labor costs at $142.43. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact was driving 50 mph when the vehicle began to lunge and jerk. the vehicle failed to accelerate and stalled without warning. the vehicle was restarted however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnosis but was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure and current mileage was 35,600. updated 12/24/13*lj the throttle body failed. the consumer stated he purchased the part from a local ford dealer and installed it himself. there have been no further problems.
When accelerating the cars engine suddenly stalls. had to stop , and turn off the car completely, and re-start. *tr
While driving at approximately 30 miles per hour in my neighborhood, the vehicle lost power and would no longer accelerate. it felt as if the car had violently run out of gas. this caused me to stop rather quickly. i turned the ignition off, waited 3 minutes, and started the car again. at this point, i was able to drive the 0.5 miles back to my home. i took the car to the dealership and the throttle assembly body failed and needed replacement. i was informed that this is a pretty common thing with ford fusions. total bill was $598. *tr
Tried to start vehicle after filling up on gas, already had about 1/4 tank prior to fill up, recently driving for several miles (car is warmed up fully) and it immediately stalled. this had never happened to me, and it occurred to me that just before the gas fill up i noticed somewhat rough engine response in a very short drive from across the street. i've read that there are issue with throttle body faults on fusion and escape that do not log under normal odb 2 codes after turning engine off. i never saw the check engine light come on. *tr
I was driving on a main road and after accelerating through a light, my car stopped accelerating and my "wrench" light came on. i could no longer accelerate and the car began jumping back and forth as if it were trying to switch gears. luckily i wasn't on a major highway. i shut the car off and turned it back on and the light went away briefly. after pulling onto a side road it happened again and when i put it in park, my rpm gauge began fluctuating and i was not pressing the gas pedal.it also began hard shifting and it seemed as though the transmission was going to drop. not sure if this is a computer issue, but it is clearly not safe. it stalled several more times on the way home. it's definitely not safe to drive and thankfully i was not on a major highway where lives could have been at risk. i researched this weekend and clearly other people have had the same issue. i can't believe this isn't a recall. hopefully ford takes care of this before someone gets seriously hurt. *tr
While driving my vehicle on the highway the throttle response became very unresponsive, and the car shut off at speed of approximately 55mph leaving my wife and infant daughter to slowly drift off the road at the best possible place. there was a "shuttering" of the vehicle, and poor throttle response before it shut off while at operating speed. *tr
Driving down interstate and lost all throttle response. fortunately was able to pull over to the side and turn car off. re-started and was able to make it home. p2111 error code; sounds exactly the same as hundreds of other complaints about these models. mechanics all say the same thing, faulty throttle body and needs replacement. someone needs to step in at some point and force ford to issue a recall. *tr
