While i was driving my ford focuse se it lost the power at the red light . the car died on me ,it was the scariest moment , i almost lost my life getting hit by another car trying to push the car to the side . very unsafe car , would never drive that car again !

Car shudders sometimes making it hard to get into traffic (no power) and when coming to a stop the car sometimes lunges forward unexpectedly almost putting it into cross traffic or rear-ending the car in front of you

Transmission shudders from start to 2nd gear. while moving at low speeds (5mph) and accelerating the car jerks that everyone in the car notices. the transmission clutch has been replaced 3 times, the transmission reprogrammed 4 times. car has less than 40,000 miles. the ball joint has been replaced at 27,000 miles.

When stopped at a light or something, car hesitates like it's gonna die. the rpm's shoot way up and if i go to brake, they like almost get stuck in high rpm. transmission shutters. tire pressure warning light stays on when i've checked the tires pressure and everything

Almost immediately after purchasing i noticed the vehicle had difficulty shifting properly. it seemed to be jumpy when i accelerated after a complete stop. then, i began to notice the car struggling to accelerate while i merged into traffic. i felt what could be best described as a frog hopping when i was in stop and go traffic. turning corners also made my car launch forward then backwards suddenly. car was repaired. condition slightly improved but i could still feel a constant hesitation upon acceleration. i became used to having to mash my foot onto the gas to get the car to accelerate normally, then taking my foot off as it violently jumped into each gear. after a few weeks, the problem began to occur upon deceleration too, lunging forward suddenly after i had come to a complete stop. i then began experienced a loss of acceleration while sitting at red lights, or in the middle of intersection, while merging onto a on highway, or going around corner. this annoying condition quickly became a serious safety issue when was almost hit on two occasions because of a failure to accelerate. clutch was then replaced again. immediately upon receiving my 'fixed' vehicle for the second time, the sputtering continued. this time it was worse. the vehicles rpms seemed to be out of sync with the gear shifts. the car was constantly revving up and down when i was at a consistent speed. when i accelerated the vehicle jerked, skipped, and seemed to lose power before suddenly kicking into drive. when i came to a stop my vehicle always jerked forward before completely stopping. there were several occasions where i nearly rear ended the car in front of me because it suddenly lunged forward after i braked. just received my car back after the third fixing and i am still experiencing the same shaking, grinding, jolting, and jumping. i have never felt more unsafe in a vehicle.

I have reported to my dealership and ford motor company that i do not feel safe driving my 2014 ford focus it has bad hesitation, and jerks and shudders and even rolls backwards on a very small incline at a stop light. when you try to pass a vehicle it will start cutting out which is extremely dangerous. i am afraid that it will get me and my family hurt and i bought it brand new less then a year ago for over $20,000.00 and now my dealership told me they would only give $14,000.00 for it and they sold it to me knowing that there was an issue. it has been in the shop already 5 or 6 times now they tell me that they have ordered another clutch pack this will make the second one they put in it since i bought less then a year ago but it is back ordered for 2 months. their mechanic already told me that this is another temporary fix. please help

We have had this vehicle in several times for shuddering, hesitation and other issues involving the transmission. we have had the sensors adjusted, the software updated, and the dealer had had a clutch part on order for 4 months at this point. we first took car in during february for this issue. it is now june. they told us they will need to replace some clutch assembly part, which is taking a long time for parts to be obtained. dealership can not give us a time when this will be received to perform repair. concerned about the driving safety for my daughter. car jumps and hesitates in lower gears. same complaints many have already made about this vehicle. .

Shuttering and vibrations when shifting from 1st to 2nd, shifting hiccups, slipping clutch, shaking, lurching.

Transmission hesitates and actually fails to move the car especially starting from a stop or on an incline. can't be sure when i step on gas that it will move. when it does it sounds like a race car and and your head hits the headrest because it jerks from sudden acceleration. scary to drive. stopped in traffic on a hill friday6/17/2016 tried to continue when light changed and the car would not move then it learched forward. been in 2 times to dealer.

Transmission stutters thru first and second gears from a stop or slow roll. will lose power when accelerating to freeway speeds as though it was going to stall out in the lower gears. clutches rattle as if not engaging. have had the transmission seal replaced for oil on clutches. did not fix the stuttering through the gears or the rattling clutches. the transmission updates are current. none of the updates fixed the problem or improved acceleration through the lower gears. i purchased this car new-has only 10k miles.

Have had vehicle for 1 year & feels like transmission slipping, jerky, & feel unsafe in car. has been to dealership twice for computer updates & is just getting worse. no longer want car & very unsafe to have car jerking & i feel like it is going to break down any minute.

I am having problems with the transmission. at approximately 22000 miles car was not shifting properly, it had a bad vibration. dealer did a reboot on computer, it did not help. they then replaced clutch in transmission. problem solved. that was july 2015. now june 2016 at approximately 37000 miles i have same problem. i brought car back to dealer and they said that i needed computer, they said they would order parts. i picked my car up while parts were on order. i waited a week and called dealer to find out status, and was told they did not order parts that they still don't know what is wrong with car. they need it in shop to run more tests. i dropped car off and they rebooted the computer and it is all fixed, they said. i picked car up and the next day i took care for a long ride, and still same problem. i took care back and i i was told everything is good. i said no its not. we went back and forth until they told mechanic to test drive. within 300 feet of drive the mechanic said that i need a clutch replacement. they tell me they will order parts but i don't believe them. car is very hard to drive in stop and go traffic do to the hesitation and bucking. i spoke to mechanic he said their is no permanent fix for problem. also i have not received any paperwork from dealer when they repair car. when i look up my car service report it says air-conditioning heating repairs. nothing in report about transmission

Bought a 2014 ford focus 1/17/16and 6 months after owning it, the vehicle shuddered when taking off at a green light, had lost power around corners. got a recall notice june 2016 got a new clutch and transmission power train. january 2017 problem persisted brought it back to the dealer they said its over 60,000 warranty and have to pay cash for the transmission repair . could not drive the car safely it would not shift. brought it back without recall notice june 20, 2017, and the dealer said they will file a 360 on repair of the clutch. waiting for the dealer to call now 6/21/17 . i need a reliable car for work and my family and can not drive this car. so scared driving it 3/4 close calls and rear ends. it sits as i pay for it every month.

The car shutters during take off. it also shutters at the 10 and 20 mph mark. clutch was replaced in march 2016 after being on back order for 4 months. ford extended the warranty on the part because of design issues. part has malfunctioned again; however, ford said the shuttering is not sever enough at this time to warrant replacing the part. i have to wait until it shutters worse before they will replace the part.

Transmission is jerky, difficult/slow to accelerate making for unsafe driving conditions. the car has other is issues but this is the worst. it is unsafe to drive and fails to accelerate with power or speed when pulling away from a stop, changing lanes, getting onto a freeway, or during typical driving conditions. ford makes excuses - first it was the computer, now it is the clutch. this has been ongoing since i leased it as a brand new car dec. 2014.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 15 mph and decelerating, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact stated that the failure occurred twice. the vehicle was taken to boggus ford mc allen (1400 e expy 83, mcallen, tx 78501, (956) 686-7411) to be diagnosed; however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or retrieve a fault code. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

Transmission rattles, car cant find proper gear at slow speeds, shifts up and down at random.sometimes no acceleration at takeoff, dangerous pulling out into traffic.tcm has been replaced as well as clutch packs.car has been back to dealer 4 times.purchased new 7/9/2014,,,,,car has 23000 miles and is still under warrenty.

My 2014 ford focus is having problems with shifting and hesitation at starts. the vehicle, at 35 miles per hour, just jerked and then would not accelerate. the engine was still running but would not respond. the check engine light came on and i pulled the vehicle over. took the vehicle to the dealer and was told the seals had failed and the tcm transmission control module was reset. the problem came back within 3 weeks and the vehicle has now been with the dealer for going on 3 weeks with no resolution. i am reading complaints from across the country that are almost verbatim to my complaint as well as what the dealers are telling the car owners. when will ford be held accountable for their known problems with this issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced transmission failure ever since purchasing the vehicle. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled when the accelerator pedal was depressed without warning. the contact also stated that after an extended period of driving, the stalling became more prevalent. the contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who stated that they were aware of the transmission defect and offered him a software upgrade. the contact stated that the failure persisted after the upgrade. the contact took the vehicle to state college ford lincoln inc (3140 w college ave, state college, pa 16801, 814-238-5041) and was informed that the clutch needed to be replaced and that the vehicle would not be covered under warranty because it was under a reconstructed title. the contact was informed that he would have to pay out of pocket for the clutch to be replaced. he also had to pay an $85 diagnostic fee. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

Chattering, shuddering and cutting out on acceleration and it has erratic and delayed shifting.

First problem was the car shuddering and jerking. ford garage, repair some transmission seals, programming, replaced fuel tank, fuel pump and engine wire harness repair. shortly after the car began to lose ability to move when accelerating, the engine rpm's would rev and vehicle had little power to move. ford garage replaced clutch and did programming. on the way home from that repair, our care suffered the same symptoms it was brought in for. it is currently in the shop and we have no confidence in what we will get back.

Car shakes when going from a stopped position then pressing on gas. feels like it jerks. also my catalytic converter has been faulty since 2 years after i got my car in 2014

Since i bought a used 2014 ford focus, this year, there has been a grinding stuttering shaking and jerking of the transmission when in motion. this happens whether the car is on the highway or at a low rate of speed but mostly when driving forward from park. ford attempted to upgrade the software to the transmission several times which has never worked. this is a known issue to ford and they are claiming that it is a characteristic of the transmission and it is normal activity. the transmission shutters and jerks so much that the car will not shift and will not move forward appropriately and i have come close to getting rear-ended several times because the transmission cannot catch up with the acceleration. i am asking ford for assistance in trading the car in since the value in the car depreciated so much because of all of the transmission issues and they are refusing to help me. my third ford, never again!!!

On 5/13/16 power assisted steering failed. vehicle very difficult to steer. vehicle was towed to auto dealer. also transmission shuddering, choking etc.no accident or damage occurred because of these at that time but elevated risk of an accident. repairs for both made by dealer under warranty.

Car hesitates when accelerating, especially from a slow or stop. cannot tell if its a transmission issue or fuel related. very dangerous, causing car to buck & jerk. makes it difficult to control vehicle. seems to be getting worse the higher the mileage.

Car transmission hesitates, shakes and shimmers. i have had this car repaired 3 times. each time it comes back. its especially worse in stop and go traffic. at about 20-25 miles per hour i have to let go of the gas then press again just to get it to go. the dealership pretty much told me their isn't much else they can do except keeping replacing the manual clutch inside the automatic transmission. when it hesitates, it literally doesn't take off as fast as it should. i don't feel like i can trust it.

When i accelerate my car hesitate, jerk like it is getting worst. slow down when take off and while driving

Transmission hesitation from a stop position to start an accelration.

My car has bad hesitation incredibally jerky when starting grinding noises transmission not shifting properly ford mechanics have admitted to knowing about the problem and has told ford that it is dangerous. hesitation when accelerating especially at lower gears. make sit very dangerous to cross busy intersections. currently don't have any pictures but plan to start recording my car.

Takata recall. from a idle position, to the increasing speed, as though i am stopped at a red light and then the light changes to green. the transmission bucks and seems as though the gear does not catch in the place it is supposed it. i have brought this to my dealers attention but i am total nothing is wrong. that should not happen

Drifts backwards in drive, and drifts forward in reverse. new clutch ordered for replacement at no cost. may take up to 10 weeks to receive the clutch. drifting occurs on any incline. also, car shudders intermittently while driving, as if front wheels are not turning smoothly (jerking sensation). purchased car with 26,800 miles on it. have since learned that this is a common focus problem. ford has only extended the warranty coverage to the transmission control module, under customer satisfaction program 14m02. this program states that the focus may experience intermittent loss of transmission engagement while driving.

I have transmission problems since i bought my car in 2016. lose of power on freeways and acceleration problems all the time. the service engine light continues to turn on and off unexpectedly. ford continue to denying those problem, causing a lot of stress every time that i drive long distances

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 10 mph, the vehicle vibrated and failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the failure occurred constantly. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed, but the details could not be provided. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the parts to repair the vehicle would not be available for two months. the failure mileage and vin were unknown.

Low tire pressure light appears every two to three weeks. at least one tire needs to be inflated, sometimes more than one tire needs to be inflated. the ford dealer inflates them usually. tire pro has also inflated tires. ford doesn't tell me what problem is, they just keep inflating the tires. light appears when vehicle is being driven on a city street, highway, turning and stationary. also, vehicle shudders on acceleration from the moment i purchased vehicle. took vehicle to ford service department. vehicle doesn't shudder as bad as before but still has issue.

The transmission started stalling going down the highway, rpm's high without vehicle going forward. took it in to the dealer on 05/10/16 and was told there was a recall that had to do with the clutch inside the transmission. i had just bought the vehicle in march 2016 for my daughter and was never told there was a problem with the power train and i told them i had safety concerns. the dealer ran a diagnostic and said they reprogrammed it and should take care of the problem for a bit. the fix did not work. we went there today. 06/15/16 and will take the vehicle back to the dealer on 06/22/16 for them to tear down the transmission and to clean it up to keep it running. we were told it will take a while to get the part in that was needed. i complained to the manager this time. i am worried about my daughter's safety with this vehicle stalling and then picking back up with the rpm's at a high rate.

My 2014 ford focus is experiencing shuddering issues when shifting between first and second typically. i have taken any end to get the recall done on it for the reprogramming and it helped at first but now the shuttering has continued after about 6 months.

Bought car brand new in june 2014. have had transmission redone. now having same issue again. front seat belts replaced. now need replaced again. have had dealer repair outside door skin on front passenger door due to transport damage. had to take car in to have interior door repositioned due to poor dealer workamanship. i have had this car in for repairs more than any vehicle i have ever owned. car currently has about 33,000 miles on it.

When test driving this 2014 ford focus i felt the car shudder on take off and when pulling out into traffic hesitation. i asked the salesman about this and just shrugged it off as no big deal. after purchasing the auto i had to return to the dealer in parsons, ks. and was told it was the way i was accelerating. no way there is something wrong with this vehicle. after 3 different returns and work done it still does the same thing. i am 82yrs old and do not feel safe driving this car. ford motor knew they put out a faulty vehicle but sold it anyway. they extended the warranty to 100000 miles but each time you return for service they say they can't do anything unless the engine light is on. ford supposedly put out a notice to repair these cars when they came in on 7-12-2019 to 7-19-2019 but when i called i was told by the service manager he knew nothing about this and could only do anything if told by ford. i contacted pittsburg ford on 7-19-2019 and asked to speak to the service manager but unable to locate him so i left my name and phone number and have yet to hear from him. this happens when driving, pulling out into traffic and when driving on the highway. on occasion the transmission slips/

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, waited a few minutes, restarted the vehicle, and resumed driving. the contact stated that the failure recurred when the engine became hot. the vehicle was taken to the johnson city ford dealer in tennessee where it was diagnosed that the transmission friction element b stuck on, and the clutch engagement bearing and clutch levers needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that nothing else could be done. the approximate failure mileage was 73,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the transmission was slipping and the clutch assembly failed to function properly. crest ford (26333 van dyke ave, center line, mi 48015, 1(888) 614-2160) had to replace the clutch assembly twice. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

The transmission malfunction light came on while driving and the vehicle shuddered on acceleration. this happened a few times. the car would shudder and jerk and it would lose power.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving at an unknown speed, the brake and accelerator pedals were depressed and the vehicle shook. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to courtesy ford lincoln (1313 ne 122nd ave, portland, or 97230, 833-281-3456) where it was diagnosed that the transmission clutch failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was informed of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with nhtsa. the failure mileage was approximately 63,003.

Have had the vehicle for just over a year. had performed well until about 20,000 miles. i do a lot of driving ferrying children to and from school, to sporting events, getting myself to and from work. the vehicle began to hesitate and it seemed like there was a timing issue with the shifting mechanism. i often had to mash down on the accelerator to get it to advance. it is very tricky in traffic esp. on the interstate. we are obliged to use i-10, the busiest highway in america, and to go across the i-10 mississippi river bridge where such hesitation and lack of control of speed could provoke a fatal accident. took it to the dealership, the service manager implied that i didn't know how to drive it correctly given that it is not truly an "automatic" transmission. mind you it is not marketed an anything but an automatic. they performed some kind of computer adjustment. the problem continues to manifest itself however especially after the car has warmed up. took it back in and the service guy was not very helpful, still implying that i just needed to adjust my method of driving. am now waiting on a new set of clutches that will "repair" the problem but not get rid of the "shuttering". i have not been given a loaner car in the interim and continue to subject my children to these unsafe conditions. there is obviously a design flaw in this transmission and ford needs to own up to it and do what is right for customers before there is a major accident and fatalities.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 35 mph and merging off a ramp, the vehicle began to shake violently and shifted to neutral independently and without warning. the vehicle was pulled over to the shoulder lane, shut off, and restarted. the vehicle was able to restart, but the failure was persistent. the vehicle was taken to morristown ford (1112 w morris blvd, morristown tn, 37813) where it was diagnosed that the seals in the clutch failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. the failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

Since day one this car's transmission has not worked properly. i should have just brought it right back to the dealer that day. it has been back 4 times for transmissions issues: shuttering at take off, accelerates on its own without your foot on the gas, keeps changing gears when trying to accelerate on a highway, lurches forward when moving slowly (pulling into a gas station), rpms go up when you take your foot off of the gas and do not drop back down again until you are at a complete stop. the front brakes are completely worn. i see these complaints on the internet over and over again. today we were driving the car on a highway and it just stopped accelerating. had to pull over very quickly to get over to the shoulder safely. motor was still running with an engine fault message was displayed. ford's roadside assistance doesn't even cover getting your car off of a toll road and living in nj they are hard to avoid. the dealer says that that is the way the car drives. they write up the paper work very vague and never put the correct description for the issues. the car goes in and out of the service department - programming update. there are 479 complaints for this car on just this site for mostly the same issue. the other 2 cars i own have 0 and 35 complaints on this site - big difference. my last ford.
