Takata recall my 2012 ford focus is having transmission issues. i can not drive over 60 in my vehicle and i am not the only one with this issue. i have read reports and called ford and no one will take a look into this. it has caused me to have to pull over on the side of the highway and the car will smoke and over heat. i am not able to cut the car on for 10 mins and all of my dashboard lights appear. it has been this way for the past 4 months. i have had to get a new form of transportation because of it. can someone please look into this.

The transmission is winding up real high when tryung to shift into gears while drivig down the road

While driving on a busy interstate the rpms on my vehicle revved to 5000, wouldn't accelerate, and quickly slowed down. i was in the fast lane while traffic around me was going 75+ and was forced to pull over on the left shoulder with my dog in the vehicle at 9:30pm on a friday night. once stopped, my vehicle wouldn't move as i tried to go into reverse and wouldn't go over 25 mph while trying to go forward. i was stranded on the interstate for 2 hours waiting for a tow truck paid for out of pocket because my 'warranty expired due to high mileage'. my boyfriend had to leave school to also pull over behind me on the interstate and take the dog from my car to his on the busiest interstate in the state we live in. mine, my dog's my boyfriend's lives were all in extreme danger due to the failure of a part on my vehicle i have had replaced twice already and is a known problem with the make model and year of my vehicle.

My vehicles transmission has been replaced several times and had a tcm replacement as well and still is not working it is also had two clutches and several software updates with no success. the car has started displaying new transmission issues related to the software in which now the vehicle will no longer go in reverse and just the other day while driving at 75 to 80 mph on the highway my vehicle slammed it self into second gear very hard and then into neutral i was almost rear ended at approximately 85 mph in which i could have died this is unacceptable afford to not except responsibility and offer a buyback for these vehicles i have spent countless hours of my time with this vehicle and have had several occasions with engine loss power transmission would not shift slamming into key lower gears at high rate of speed complete car shut down all of these issues in which i could have been in a fatal accident with and we still have no resolution after several years i am out raged

Stalling deading and shattering power lose engine light

2012 ford focus stalling and shutting off on highway. engine stalling and shutting off multiple times while driving. check engine indicator on due to recall.

I purchase 2012 ford focus se january 21, 2019 from fayetteville auto brokers, fayetteville, nc. i was unaware of any recalls until i took car to be serviced at lafayette ford, fayetteville, nc on 07/07/2019 later and there was a clutch recall. it had 112,000 miles at the time so that put me out of warranty which should of been taken care of before purchase. therefore i was not forwarned nor was i aware of issues with clutch. now i and stuck with payments as well as high repair bill. then i find this article late stating replacement of faulty clutch at no cost that was not forwarded or made aware to me. my car is also deemed unsafe due to recall and the repair should be mandated at no cost based on deception that started the day of creation. it is only fair that this wrong is corrected.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while operating the vehicle, the engine, battery, and oil sensor indicators illuminated before the vehicle shut off. the cause of the failure was not determined. hines park ford (56558 pontiac trl, new hudson, mi) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 94,000.

I have been complaining of and dealing with a engine/transmission issue since purchasing this vehicle. i was told several times by my dealership that it is just the type of gas sipping engine the car has and it is normal. i am 50 years old and never had a car that responded as poorly this one has but also never had a car with special type of engine. it has stalled while entering an intersection a couple of times, lacks pick up sometimes or jolts (like transmission issues) when going from stopped position. it will sometimes jolts going up hills while car is switching gears as well at a normal back road speed. an engine recall was put out several months ago with no remedy yet. now the engine light is coming on sometimes (after just having the car serviced and gone through for fluids, etc). my car has 50k miles on it only and is being driven by my son now. i am worried about the safety but don't want to sell it with open recalls and the lemon laws here in ma. i feel like i am stuck with a lemon myself. i want to know what timeframe they will be given to come up with a fix before someone is killed?

There have been several recalls for my car regarding the fuel system and gas tank, my car exhibited all the same symptoms, i took it to a ford dealership that refused to do the work unless i pai'd $2,000 for an expired previous recall for a different issue that was unrelated. they claimed without doing that work if they did this work the car wouldn't work at all. i complained to ford who told me dealerships don't have to honor recalls and to keep trying other dealerships. i asked what to do if none would do the work and they said pay out of pocket. worse yet, the first dealership cleared the recall as not being needed, so now i have a damaged car that i can't get the recall work on that i can't afford to do myself. i'm going to just have to sell the car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated that the power steering was faulty and the steering wheel seized, which made it difficult to turn. also, when the vehicle was started and the contact shifted into drive, the vehicle automatically went in reverse. the contact had to immediately engage the parking brake. also, while the vehicle was parked on the street, it rolled backwards due to the parking position. furthermore, while attempting to reverse, the vehicle stalled. also, the door latches were loose and in danger of becoming detached. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed multiple times. the vehicle was taken to ted russell ford (9925 parkside dr, knoxville, tn 37922, (865) 444-6467) and serviced multiple times for each failure; however, each failure remained except for the power steering failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. the failure mileage was 130,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 65 mph, the engine stalled. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 14,000.

I received a recall notice a few months ago and i was told that i would receive another letter in about 3 months once the necessary parts were in stock. i hadn't received the follow up letter so i called my local ford dealer and i was told that the parts were on back order but i could set up an appointment to have my vehicle inspected for corrosion to determine if i even needed the parts. the earliest appointment i could get was may 18th, just for the inspection; not even for the actual repairs. the recall is for the fuel vapor system and there's a warped part that is causing an inaccurate reading on fuel levels which means i have to maintain at least a half tank of gas at all times. my car is now leaking gas and stalling in traffic due to the issue. i live in a city with lots of steep inclines and hills and i have to avoid certain streets because my car has stalled and almost caused accidents. there is only one ford dealer in my area. the only other dealer is about 30-40 minutes away.

I had a recall on my car starting in january and still have not received any information explaining when i can get my car fixed.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while the vehicle was reversing, it began to shake. the contact's daughter placed the vehicle into drive and the engine stalled. the vehicle was turned off, but would not restart. the contact's son had to assist with pushing the vehicle out of the parking garage. in addition, the check engine indicator illuminated. once the vehicle restarted, it was driven to lubbers cars (944 n main st, cheney, ks 67025, (877) 326-6992), but they did not assist and stated that a remedy would not be available until later this month. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. the failure mileage was 104,000.

Bought 2012 ford focus on 3/2016. 5/2016 took back to dealership for stuck window d/t bad motor and reprogramming of transmission control module. 7/2016 car would not start at all, completely stalled out. took to ford dealership again...transmission computer/module replaced. 12/2018 car stalled yet again and steering would not work nor would shifter...transmission garage stated they fixed issue. 8 hours later, the car would not run at all. transmission place refused to touch the car again. called original dealership and ofcourse, they replaced the transmission control module. and expect us to pay for it again this time! plus the dealership will not replace car until most recent recall is fixed on it. like hell will i put my 2 children and husband back in this car with the chance of it to stall again and crash. we reside 40 miles away from work so a total of a 1/2 tank of gas at one time is not feasible in western new york weather. 5 transmission problems and how many recalls later and ford motor company will not do anything to make their wrongs right

As i was driving my car driver side door open the latch does not work anymore and my car stalls i cannot tell how much gas i have because the gauges don't work it puts its doors open i'll be on 75 it just shut off i need to go to red lights is shift so far they go to stop sign i should solve the radio also just goes out and i have so loud starch sound screeching noise very loud and annoying my car also kranks when i want to create battery died quick. *tr

The car radio goes off the windows don't go down and the transmission went on the car out off no where when i maintain my car every 3 months and as needed

My car had less than 90,000 miles on it when it began to have issues with the transmission. the engine stutters or idles when i accelerate, which has made getting on the interstate a nightmare. if i accelerate to even 35 mph, i have to completely remove my foot from the gas pedal, otherwise my rpms will shoot to over 4 (4,000 rpms). it causes my entire car to feel like it's shaking, and it almost seems like my car is having trouble shifting gears. not only that, but when i've stopped at a stop sign and begin to drive, my engine makes the most terrible churning/clashing/grinding noise possible. lately it has gotten to the point that my rpms will continue to increase but my car's speed will stay the same. all of these situations (trouble shifting gears, noises, and high rpms) will occur no matter what, every time i accelerate. it doesn't matter what sort of road i am on.

When going about 55 mph my car starts to get very loud, nothing seems to be wrong it's as if there's a leaf blower inside the vehicle. as i slow down, use the brakes, the sound slowly gets more quiet.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while the vehicle was stopped in traffic at a red light, it suddenly shut off on two separate occasions. the vehicle was taken to jim oneal ford (516 s. indiana ave, sellersburg, in) where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank valve was faulty. the vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system) and the fuel tank valve was replaced, but the failure continued. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 106,000.

2012 ford focus. consumer writes in regard to safety recall notice 18s32/ nhtsa recall 18v-735. they inquire when parts will be made available for vehicle. *as the consumer stated the vehicle would not reverse and drove slow while moving forward. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while attempting to drive the vehicle, it failed to start and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the contact called autonation ford lincoln union city at (770) 686-7733 (located at 4355 jonesboro rd a, union city, ga 30291) and was informed that the part was not available. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.

I have recently bought a 2012 ford focus and it has the clutch problem. the problem has a warranty for under 100,000 miles. but does not have a recall for when the problem happens after 90,000 miles. so now i have to pay 1,500 dollars to get it fixed. ford needs to fix a problem they made

My car has stalled out 3 times in 2 days. once while parked after filling the tank with gas. i had turned the engine off to fill the tank, and then it took three attempts with sluggish turnover to start. the next time, i was in idle at a red light and the engine suddenly died. i was able to restart. the third time, i was in the middle of a turn in a downtown area and i lost compression and nothing happened when i pressed the accelerator. the engine light on the dashboard came on and i was able to coast to the shoulder and restarted my car. this morning the engine light was still on. i do not feel comfortable driving my vehicle.

I received an email in october 2018 and then a letter in december 2018 for a recall on my vehicle. and was told when the parts were available i would be notified.now here we are 7 months later and i have heard nothing is there anything i can do about this

On your vehicle, the pcm software may not adequately detect a stuck-open canister purge valve (cpv) within the fuel vapor system. if the cpv malfunctions and sticks open, it can lead to excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor system, potentially deforming the plastic fuel tank. this can cause the following symptoms: illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (mil) with certain diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs) inaccurate or erratic fuel gauge indication inaccurate distance to empty (dte) engine stall and/or other drivability concerns related to stuck open cpv safety risk this may result in an engine stall while driving without warning or without the ability to restart, and can increase the risk of a crash. unfulfilled promise the manufacturer said the piece would be ready in the first quarter of 2019; however, the recall still says 'no remedy''almost 6 months later.

Takata recall, first off is the driver door comes unlocked while driving, also had a door lock and wasn't able to close. my 2012 focus feels like it's got no power alot of times or will start to spudder from every stop. does same when reversing out of a drive way. sometimes it seems like it wants to stall, i have the automatic. it revs at really high rpms like it needs to shift but doesn't. probably have more issues the longer i keep it, i believe the huffines dealership, the company that financed and ford knew these things could and did happen to the car i was sold. single father with a 4 year old son just trying to get this fixed nothing about this is safe.

This car has had problems since purchasing it as a certified used vehicle for my daughter. the stereo went out completely and had to be replaced. the transmission has been having issues but ford says the problem is not bad enough when hooked up to the computer for it to be replaced under their extended warranty which ford has put in place an extended warranty up to 100,000 miles and 7 years. lastly twice while my daughter was starting to drive the car the steering wheel locked up and brakes stopped working. the second time the car was in reverse and continued to roll forward. its a good thing she knew to use her emergency brake or she could have been hurt. the car is at the dealership to be diagnosed and repaired. never buying a ford again.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated when the accelerator pedal was depressed after a complete stop. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the contact noticed the failure in november of 2017. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 98,540.

Ran out of fuel in this vehicle, once when my daughter was driving on a highway, even though the fuel gauge would say there was between 75-100 miles before empty. the last time this happened the interior of the vehicle had a strong smell of gas. i then proceeded to take it to the dealership and after diagnosis the service manager said some valve remained open causing the gas tank to crack and in turn gas flowed back into the intake manifold. the cost to fix would be approximately $3100. the problem has been a known issue with this vehicle for quite some time, but ford refuses to recall or even pay for the work. i even had an extended warranty and they wouldn't cover it either.

This car when you are driving the engine jump or skeep the change

2012 ford focus with 55,000 miles. driving on interstate at 60 mph and the car suddenly shut down. weather was sunny and 84. fortunately, i was not hit and was able to coast to the shoulder of the interstate. steering and brakes worked fine. car will not restart. turning the key is uneventful, no noise or action of any kind. there is electric, as i was able to put the windows down. waited 3 hours for a tow truck. i lost a days wage, have a tow bill and a car that will not work. thankful that my teen was not driving at the time.

Vehicle shudders when taking off but once initial take off is complete there is no shudder anymore.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle started shuddering and inadvertently shifted gears. the contact was able to drive the vehicle home. the dealer (capital ford of charlotte, 5411 n tryon st, charlotte, nc 28213) stated that they were aware of the failure with an engine module and the warranty was extended to 100,000 miles. the contact was advised to tow the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing and repairs. the manufacturer was contacted and confirmed the extended warranty program. the failure mileage was 54,000.

Car was being driven at about 30 mph when it suddenly shut off. car would not restart. fuel gauge indicated 71 miles to empty, 2 days after dealer supposedly recalibrated fuel gauge by reprogramming computer. this has happened several times in the past 3 months. dealer says clutch (in this automatic vehicle) failed "shudder test", and needs $1500 replacement. he says this could explain car shutting off. i cannot risk my pregnant daughter being stranded by this car. very disappointed inford and this dealer.

The car will cut off once you try to start it up after filling up the gas. it also stalls while you're sitting idle at a light. the gas gauge is also broken. it stays at full and moves around freely.

When you go to start it as soon as you turn the ignition on it starts to crank the car over when i don't have it turn all the way to crank the motor over. as it has a short i been told by ford but nothing being done they said it should be on the recall list.it cranks over like a dead battery when the battery brand new.but the key switch should never start the engine till ya turn it all the way.it's like if i turn the switch on to hear the radio the car starts cranking over and starting when it shouldnt.ford has never fix the recalls thats on it now as we told them and they say they arent important when the doors and switch are very important.this starting problem been going on since we bought it from ford.

Twice, when exiting car in the garage, the doors locked and the engine started on it's own. had to use the key to unlock the car, insert key and the engine stopped. without hearing aids i would have just gone in the house. disaster!

While driving my transmission/engine will cut out for 1 second causing the car to lurch forward and stall for a brief second, then it resumes driving normal. other times the engine will shutter/ sound like it's almost going to stall out, especially when slowing down or accelerating from a rolling or stopped position. often these occur on city streets.

Check engine light on, both on road and highway staling and front end making noise.

Takata recall the engine light warning is on on my car and slips while driving. i am trying to get help to determine what is wrong to avoid accidents. i received a recall letter but i lost the letter that was sent to me. your attention and time on my concern is very much appreciated. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).' *pm

My engine got hot around march 7, 2018 as i was driving it.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. when the contact attempted to drive the vehicle, the check engine warning indicator remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to hawkeye ford (2027 us-34, red oak, ia 51566) where it was diagnosed with failure codes p144a and p0456. the codes indicated that the evap, purge vent, vent valve, fuel tank, and fuel pump needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

I was driving and the car kept turning of. it happened when i was stopped at a light and multiple times when i was driving. it doesn't shutter and stall, it just shuts off. engine light came on with p1450 and p0456. it is evidently a known issue. there was a recall for 2010-2011 ford fusions for the exact same thing. "some of these vehicles might have a canister purge valve that does not work properly, causing internal pressure changes inside the fuel tank. repeated pressure changes inside the tank could result in a crack on the top of the tank, possibly allowing fuel to leak. a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can lead to a fire." there is no recall for the ford focus models affected, even though it is a known issue and not related to normal wear. it is a manufacturer defect. it was a very scary experience and a very costly one to repair. i am under 60,000 miles. i do not understand why there is a recall on one model, but not the other for the exact same manufacturer issue. the estimated repair cost is $1800 from the ford dealership service department. i was almost hit, because it happened while i was making a turn. it caused me extreme anxiety. this is not the first manufacturer issue i have had with this car. not long after getting it, i had transmission issues.

Pulling out of daycare on a city street, the engine starting chugging. the transmission/engine light came on. i was able to drive slowly to make it home. chugging each time i tried to accelerate. extremely scary especially with 3 kids in the car. i drive on state rd. 82 for work and pick up the kids. very dangerous. this will be the third or fourth time this has happened. i need it repaired at no cost to me.
