My daughter has a used 2012 ford focus that has an outstanding recall for cpv problems. she has had two experiences where the vehicle loses power and she's unable to accelerate no matter how far she presses the gas pedal. last week, 1/15/2019 the same issue happened on the freeway, while in motion, going approximately 65mph. very dangerous! especially with fast moving traffic. she managed to get off the freeway and coast into a parking lot. we had the car towed to camelback ford and we explained the situation and that after some research found there is an open recall on her car for a malfunctioning part/s that can cause the exact problems she's experiencing. they say okay, we'll get on it. well, they called us today, 1/20/2020, a whole 5 days later, to say that she needs a new battery and other things like a wheel alignment and bearing replaced. no mention of the recall repair being done. when asked they said they couldn't repair because they were unable to replicate the problem or find a code for it. so needless to say, she's been without her car for 5 days and the recall repair wasn't even done, and they come at use for other "repairs". right now we are more concerned for the safety aspect of the car stalling out while in motion. after chatting with a ford customer service rep., who by the way says repairs should be done whether the issue is detectable or not, we have to take it to a second dealer and hope they make the necessary repairs. we can do a wheel bearings and alignment once the more critical safety repairs are done.
Vehicle purchased august 30, 2012. two recalls for power shift six speed auto trans, clutch shudder. taken in both times in accordance with warranty and recall instructions. in both instances vehicle was never fixed based on safety codes and instructions. contacted ford motor and dealership. in both instances compliance was refused. last breakdown, jan. 2020, regarding recall was denied due to claims that vehicle was not properly warranted. took vehicle to dealer for recall issue again, and was told vehicle was not warranted for clutch and unsafe to operate. i believe the vehicle was never safe to drive! therefore, not only do i not have the funds to fix the original recall, but i do not have any vehicle or access to a vehicle. recalls are not ever to be the responsibility of the consumer, especially when vehicle was not properly brought up to codes and standards in the first place. all attempts to negotiate a civil outcome have failed, and now ford has completely locked me out of all access to any reps. and/or uppers authority supervisors, thus forcing me to file this complaint, which i hope resolves this issue and prevents me from obtaining legal representation. as a side note, if ford or woltz and wind refuses to make this wrong, right - i will also be moving forward to the atty general as well as consumer affairs. i thought it was only fair to both parties (including yourself) to let you know all copies from this and any other decisions and/or correspondence will be copied and forwarded to said entities named. if that doesn't guarantee me a total resolve, i will then contact an attorney and file a civil suit-which on the commonwealth clearly states .. .i am also eligible to become part of the class action suit against ford. i have until feb.20, 2020 and i am involved in that also. *dl
Vehicle would lose motive power in long turning off/on ramps when fuel level got down to just above a 1/4 tank at first then as time progressed the same issue would occur in highway traffic. narrowly avoided accidents on several occasions due to this. vehicle never threw a code for anything, it would just stop running. i took vehicle in to dealer to perform manufacturer recall 18s32, they just reporgrammed it and gave it back. problem got better at first but did not go away. since the recall work another recall has come out and the level of fuel i need went from above 1/4 to above 1/2 a tank of fuel. when the fuel gauge reads 1/2 a tank the vehicle will take between 7 and 8 gallons of gas (the fuel levels on the gauge are wrong) this morning i lost motive power on the highway in traffic at low speeds with a full tank of fuel and it finally threw the code p00c6 twice, which after looking it up i identified this to be something along the lines of insufficient fuel pressure at the fuel rail. i plan on turning the car in to have the second recall for this issue performed in the next few days and, according to the recall from ford, this should constitute replacement of several components in the fuel system. i want this on record before taking the vehicle in. this issue has been ongoing and has made me late for and miss work on several occasions.
When idling - my ford focus will often randomly accelerate, after a few moments it then bottoms out completely, nearly stalling. this also happens when i'm braking instead of decelerating it will accelerate and jerk the car terribly straining the brakes making it harder to stop.
When i make a stop and try to move the vehicle, i feel vibrations, lost of power. i did not know that ford recalled the vehicle to solve the problem. i just called but ford refuse to fix. the agent to whom i spoke, said that the mileage is above 100 000 miles. the current mileage is 173 000 miles but i have been driving with this problem for long time.
While in columbus, ohio, caught in heavy traffic, uphill, a red "transmission malfunction!" light went on, and the car immediately started shuddering and lurching forward. i was only going 5 - 10 mph in traffic, but the car was also shaking and when i came to a full stop the rpms would go up and down
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while the contact's granddaughter was driving 55 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but failed to respond. in addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to watermark nissan of marion (3209 banterra drive, marion, il 62959) where it was determined that the power train control module needed to be replaced. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (engine), but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000.
High rpms died in flight stalling jerking
Car shutters and stalls. not much power. had tcm repaired and the dual clutch multiple times.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled and shut off without warning. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000(engine, engine cooling). the contact called james hodge ford lincoln (1200 n main st, muskogee, ok 74401) and henryetta ford (821 e main st, henryetta, ok 74437, (918) 652-0990) and was informed that the parts were pending and not available. the manufacturer was contacted and provided the same information as the dealer. the contact requested a loaner vehicle, which was denied. the vehicle was taken to henryetta ford where it currently remained. the failure mileage was 98,000.
Recall 18s32. brought the vehicle in to dealership on 9-8-19 when i received the recall notice. i was told that software needed to be updated. at that point, we had not experienced any of the symptoms of the recall. i was told that there was a check to see if the software needed to be updated and it did not. on 10-9-19 while my daughter was driving the vehicle, the gas gauge went up to full (it was only 1/2 full) check engine light was on (it has consistently been on for weeks) and most importantly and most frightening is the vehicle completely shut off while she was driving 65 mph on a highway. all of these things that occured are directly what the recall is for. although my daughter was driving on a hightway , thankfully she was not hit or killed by other drivers and did not crash the vehicle. now because the vehicle was initially brought in before any symptoms and ford determined no software update was needed, they are denying to replace the canister purge valve which is what we were told by the dealership needed to be done. the vehicle cannot be driven now because of the fear of putting whomever drives it in danger. not only is this is unacceptable but i am very frustrated and feel that this safety issue should be addressed by ford immediately. there is also a recall (recall #19s22) stating dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. i have tried to get this addressed not only through ford's customer service directly but by speaking to the service manager at the dealership where the car was bought and serviced. seems like this is not an urgent matter for anyone but us. i do have a case number that was assigned by ford which is: cas-24503630-j8w6y7.
The car jerks a lot while driving. it is like a stutter or something. i had napleton ford check it out and they indicated that the clutch needs replacing. they indicated that there was a recall on the clutch and that it had to replaced by 100,000 miles. i bought the car used at 154,000 miles so i didn't have it at the time of the recall. my warranty won't cover the repair.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline) at star ford lincoln (located at 1101 s brand blvd, glendale, ca 91204, (818) 956-0977). after the vehicle was retrieved, it failed to start. the dealer was able to recharge the battery. the contact stated she was able to drive to her residence. two days later, while driving 25 mph and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the check engine warning indicator was illuminated. the contact replaced the battery. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but and the contact was unaware of the diagnoses. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 118,834.
My car turns off while driving
After being stopped at a traffic light on the highway, my vehicle began acting as if it did not want to get up to speed and would not go above 35mph without dramatically jolting forward. it did this a couple of times before swerving a bit and finally stalling completely, pressing the gas would do nothing to get the car to speed up. i did manage to get it to a side road before having it towed to the dealer.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. upon approaching a stop and depressing the brake pedal, the motor dropped out of the vehicle without warning. the motor fell on top of the axle and knocked the axle loose. the contact maneuvered the vehicle to the side of the road and assessed the damage. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the motor support fractured and caused the motor to detach from the vehicle. the vehicle had not been repaired. the contact spoke with matt bowers ford (3724 veterans memorial blvd, metairie, la 70002, 504-887-8410) and was informed that there were no recalls related to the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 110,000. the vin was unknown.
We took the car in to get fixed because the check engine light was on. when i turn on the car and start driving the car feels like it loses its speed and it feels like the car is being pulled back every time its driven forward. the car feels as if its being forced to drive and it happens every time the car is being driven. we took it in to star ford lincoln glendale on 1101 s brand blvd glendale, ca 91204, phone number (818)502-1901 where they told us they fixed the car but the car remained with the same problems with no evidence of fixed difference. when we picked up the car after dropping it of at star ford lincoln we had to jump start the car because it no longer turned even though the car would turn on before we dropped it off. the car also started leaking water from the radiator even though that was not one of the reasons we left the car there. after picking up the car fro there it has been remained park because we can not move it.
19s22 recall. i was driving home from port huron to clinton township. my car went from 70 mph hour on the freeway to 35 mph. absolutely no warning. i cannot accelerate more than 35 mph. the very next morning i brought my car into the ford dealership at 9 mile in harper because the same problem had occurred months before in may. i told her that same thing happened before my car is not accelerating my rpm shot up and i cannot go anywhere so she asked me to bring it in i did i asked her about the outstanding recall on the car she told me that her guys forgot to look at it. ford had my car for a week i lost my job and i also do lift on the side so i'm out $1200 just in the week. they called me, and said itll cost around $2k for the clutch system. that's funny because i don't use the manual side of the car but apparently it's built into the transmission. so again i asked about the recall. it clearly states on your website that if ford has to do the recall and there's any other repairs that need to be done with for the cause of all of this that the parts and labor are free. they charged my dad's credit card $1938.78. i asked her again but there was a recall down on the car she said oh well we did the recall and that was for the purge valve i said ok well where is that located she told me was in the engine so you didn't do the recall 1st you just went straight for the clutch? then you're telling me that had nothing to do with it well how do we know now after he took the 2000 and even admitted that you didn't do the recall 1st gear went straight to the clutch system so if you wouldn't did the recall 1st i wouldn't have been out $2000 if you just did your job. then i pick up the car. and the same thing happened again, and the check engine light came on. so again i had to drop it off.
I purchased a 2012 ford focus 11/2017 since then have had power train /transmission replaced 2 times larest in sept. 2019. i am again experiencing the same types of symtoms leading to same. called service where work was done in sept. and told wait alittle longer for symtoms to show on the meter. but you can bring in you chose. i am scared to wait and last experience left me in an intersection vehicle wouldnt start and unable to get an ok to tow. used someone else aaa to tow in. one week without a car no rentals avalilable due to high volume of ford recalls stated at every ford dealer in san diego. i could pay out of pocket but rental requirements and no credit card made it ineligible to do so. ford okd a one day rental. no vehicles available i was told.
Canister purge valve recall (cpv) and prior powertrain and pcm recall issues. history involving powertrain, pcm and cpv. check engine light (cel) came on a few years ago and the car could not restart. could have had an accident. recently, in the summer 2019, cel on and gave a code about faulty catalytic converter when i spent $106 at green ford to read and diagnosis the code. the light went on and off and on september 8, 2019, the car stalled and/or would not start back up many times when the cel was on. the car would not crank the next morning, twice, on the way to green ford, and waiting on recall to be performed. the car has 151,000 miles and is a one owner vehicle. the powertrain, pcm and this current issue has been the only issues that seems to be connected.
The engine light randomly came on. the car stalled while driving. came to a stop. was slow to start back up and was jerking/stuttering the rest of the way. multiple auto body shops diagnosed my 2012 ford focus was transmission failure
We purchased a 2012 focus for our 18 year old daughter as her first car. the check engine light is illuminated and the car shudders as you accelerate like its shifting gears but it's a very aggressive jerk. once it reaches certain speed it drives smoothly but if you stop at a red light or stop sign and accelerate again it does the same thing. the fault code for the check engine light states it's a catalytic converter problem. i did some online research and found a recall for what i thought was the cause of the issue (recall 18s32). took it into the dealership to have the recall repaired and they reset the pcm but tech told me the gas tank "passed inspection" so no further repairs were needed. however, the car still shudders at acceleration. i was told i'd have to pay $135 for them to diagnose the problem. i am so afraid for my daughter who is a fairly new driver to be driving this unsafe vehicle. i will be searching for a class action lawsuit as i've read several complaints of the same issue on this website. i don't feel comfortable selling this car to anyone else with these problems either. ford really needs to rectify this problem immediately before someone gets hurt or worse, dies! the car has 101,000 miles on it.
My car has, since the time i bought it, stuttered randomly when accelerating. this has caused issues where merging into traffic from a stop can be unreliable, causing me to fail to enter traffic at the expected speed and causing increased risk for a collision. i think it might be a transmission, since it feels like a gear is slipping. eventually, through the stuttering, i will gain enough speed to where it stops being an issue. (possibly when entering the next gear)
After purchasing the car, it stared to have transmission issues. took it to repair shop. they reworked the front end and transmission. the computers on both the front end and transmission failed to sync together. this caused a total failure of the transmission. i had the transmission replaced only to have it fail four months later. the car started to jerk, jump forward and then stopped moving. the engine was racing but the transmission did not work. i was left in the middle of a busy intersection and thankfully had people help me push it out of the road. it's back at the repair shop, again its the transmission module and transmission. !
Vehicle is reading code p0420 indicating hat the catalytic converter is operating under threshold. light would turn on and off periodically until it finally remained turned on and soon after the vehicle started struggling to drive up hills and the gas milage has decreased.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact took her vehicle to an unknown dealer to be repaired per an unknown recall. the contact believed there was a manufacturer defect with the throttle body and stated that the vehicle would hesitate to accelerate when the brake pedal was released and would then violently accelerate suddenly. the failure caused the vehicle to crash into a ditch. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was not filed. there were no injures. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 119,000.
Recall notice number18v735 has not been performed. i received a notice december 2018 and nothing has happened. i'm concerned my vehicle has an open issue that hasn't been remediated. apparently, ford hasn't identified a solution. why hasn't this been resolved?
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving up a hill, the vehicle jerked and then stalled. the vehicle also hesitated to move forward. the contact stated that the vehicle would jerk forward and backwards, and then stall. in addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the technician referred the contact to nhtsa. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 148,347.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. whenever the contact placed fuel in the vehicle, the tank would go straight to empty. in addition, fuel would leak from the vehicle and caused it to run out of fuel. on another occasion, after the fuel tank was filled, the contact drove off and the vehicle decelerated on its own. the contact called her boyfriend to help push the vehicle to the side of the road. the vehicle was towed to the contact's home. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 152,300.
My car shutters and shakes when i'm accelerating. going from a dead stop is the worst. i've taken my car in and there is no resolution as of today. ford knows of all of these issues and knew of them before my car was manufactured. my extended warranty runs out next month and will be on the hook for any future damages to my car.
I have a 2012 ford focus titanium hatchback. i took my car into bob tomes ford for a shuttering problem and was told to wait and see to continue to drive the car. months later i had the tcm replace and now my clutch is out. these were all issues at the time i originally brought my car into ford. after the tcm was replace i tried to pick up my car from bob tomes ford service center and the service team could not start my car or get it in gear( yet somehow they "test drove" it). my car has stalled in the middle of intersections, my check engine light has come, my transmission is overheating and asking me to pull over and wait 5 minuets. this is extremely dangerous as i am a mother and have up to 3 children with me at one time. i can not trust my car to get me from a to b safely. my car dies randomly when it wants to. my car is now completely undriveable. i am still paying on this car and i can not even drive it! i need something to be done about this asap. this is absolutely terrifying that ford is allowed to sell cars knowing the transmission is faulty before they were on the market.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while attempting to drive the vehicle, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the cpa05 vapor canister purge solenoid failed and needed to be replaced. the contact called quick lane at briarwood ford (located at 7070 e michigan ave, saline, mi 48176, (734) 429-8888) and was informed that there would be a diagnostic fee. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. the contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline), but the remedy was unsuccessful. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the approximate failure mileage was 122,034.
Complaint #1 the car overheated during a trip on the highway, had to detour ...a hose was spewing water have a picture..i only had the car for 2 or 3 days!! complaint #2 very serious, while driving 65 mph on a highway. the car jerked very hard and then lost power.there was no room to pull over,it was grass and a slight ditch, late at night no street lamps...the car would not start the fuel left to e was 78 miles.i called road side assistance...semi truck swerved to miss us and every other semi and vehicle had to cross over the yellow lines to avoid smashing into the stalled car.my daughter and i sitting in the vehicle, the hour was 11:00 pm. complaint #3 the car sputters into gear taking off .. by the way it was a one lane highway. far from any town..
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 25 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle shut off. the contact was unable to remove the key from the ignition. after several attempts, the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive home. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. a dealer and the manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 101,329.
My car just started flickering in and out. all these errors showed up on the dashboard. and now it wont start
Started car and dash light indicated the following message, "transmission malfunction. service now"like many others i have seen online.it also states engine needs service
Takata recall started car and dash light indicated the following message, "transmission malfunction. service now" also got power steering assist error message earlier in the month.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the highway and the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road. when the vehicle was powered off and restarted, the vehicle drove normally. on another occasion, while attempting to drive the vehicle, it failed to start. the vehicle was taken to rogel ford (located at 26167 ms-27, crystal springs, ms 39059, (601) 892-3673) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. furthermore, the front driver side door failed to close. the vehicle was taken back to rogel ford where the door was repaired, but not diagnosed. the contact was informed by the dealer that they also reprogrammed the power train module. the contact stated that the fuel gauge would show full when it was supposed to be at half a tank. the manufacturer was notified of the failures and stated that rogel ford repaired the vehicle per nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). no further assistance was offered. the approximate failure mileage was 159,000.
There was multiple recalls on the clutch for my car. the clutch has been changed 3+ times and it is still broken. and ford refuses to fix the problem. the car will slip gear when driving therefore causing the car to lose motion and has almost caused multiple accidents. the car also will not pick up speed due to slipping of gear. this unfixed issue has caused me end up with no car and a newborn baby.
When parked and going into reverse, the console lit up with "transmission malfunction service now" and it would not go into reverse. we replaced the transmission control module, but a few days later it would not even go into gear.
I was driving my car in a rural area going about 45 mph when the car started jerking and reving near 6 rpm. the car will no longer drive in reverse and is undrivable.
Takata recall everytime i take off in my car it jurks all the time like it was trying to catch to move into next year it jurks as i drive down the road and when i stop at a red light ,and a stop sign it jurks and then cuts of so i have to put the car in park to keep it from cutting off i have been on the side of the road 6 times because of this problem the gas meter stop working so i never knew how much gas i had in the car now i can not even drive the car because it has gotten worse want go into gear
Car stutters from starting out takes too long to accelerate and friends have said what's wrong with the car .it feels like the transmission is slipping
Takata recall my driver side door want shut and i see it has a recall on my engine also. i was driving and my door just flew open i tried shutting it several times it wouldn't budge. my radio also don't work ether i don't know if that's part of it. *tr
My husband was driving the car to work on the interstate shortly after 6am in the pouring rain. traffic was moving at roughly 65 miles an hour. as two highways were merging together, his vehicle lost power. rpm's went high but vehicle would not accelerate. he put on flashers and proceeded to coast into right hand lanes, but only had enough power to land in the gore, which is the v where two highways come together. he turned the vehicle off and tried to restart, but it would not restart. it took 1 and 1/2 hours for rescue vehicle to arrive while traffic sped by on both sides of him, leading him to believe he was living his last moments. horrifying! courtesy patrol got my husband to safety, tow truck retrieved vehicle and took it to dealership. they said that essentially, the transmission shifted into neutral as he drove down the highway and there was nothing he could have done to stop it. they replaced the f module-transmission control at n/c, and also performed unrelated pcm update for a recall. we traded off the vehicle yesterday. transmission had been repaired numerous times for shaking or stalling.
Had 2 issues with dual-clutch transmission since buying the vehicle. clutch was replaced on may 13th, 2019 for my 2012 ford focus. i was stuck on the highway twice for this occurrence with the vehicle jerking while in motion then the "check engine" light coming on and the car stalling out. the vehicle then came to a stop and could not be restarted. the cost of the repair was 2667.46 dollars to replace the clutch. the previous time was due to a problem with the transmission control module but was fixed with no issues.
My transmission ore slipping in first gare, i have had it in the shop three times, after about three months it start slipping again. it's doing it now. please check for all of my recall are complete.
Takata recall: transmission malfunction
