Clutch chatter at low speed, start off and shifting from 1st to 2nd, only seems to do it after its warm or under a load. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact had not experienced any failures prior to taking the vehicle to the dealer to receive a manufacturer's recall remedy. after the repair, the failure progressed randomly for longer than a year. upon depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle was slow to respond and the rear tires locked when accelerating. the contact later experienced the vehicle stalling without warning. the contact had to coast the vehicle over to a fuel station and, after several attempts, the vehicle restarted, shook violently, and stalled. the vehicle was not able to be driven and was towed to the dealer for inspection. the contact waited longer than a week for the diagnostic results. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the nhtsa campaign number was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Driving during very heavy morning rush hour traffic (at approx 25 mph). car began to shudder/hesitate very bad and would not accelerate - i was about to get onto the interstate. the check engine light came on and i was able to limp the car the remaining few miles to the office. the check engine light stayed on in the afternoon on the drive home. was able to plug in my own obd computer and received the code p0902 (clutch actuator control circuit low). next day, started car and the check engine light is off and car drove fine. have appointment for 10/15 to take car to dealership but fear that because the check engine light is no longer on they will be unable to "recreate the issue" and will not fix it. i have already had this car in multiple times for transmission reset, but this occurrence was by far the worst. had i been trying to pull out into traffic, there would have been an accident because the car stopped accelerating. i have printed the code description along with the sync vehicle health report i ran proving that the check engine light was on. hopefully, this (along with the code information i pulled myself) will be enough for the dealer to take this seriously and fix the problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle was shifted into the drive position but failed to drive forward when the accelerator pedal was engaged. the contact mentioned that the same failure applied when attempting to reverse. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice where the transmission control module was replaced. weeks later, there was an abnormal noise coming from the radio and it randomly failed to work. while driving, the steering wheel seized and the contact had to apply force to the steering wheel each time the failure recurred. the contact also mentioned that the eps warning light illuminated. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 103,000. updated 11/12/15*lj, updated 3/20/18*jb updated 5/16/18*jb

Letter regarding problems with 2012 ford focus and insufficient customer resolution of those problems. *smd the consumer stated the transmission was serviced multiple timed, with only short term improvement. the dealer informed the consumer, ford designed the transmission to perform as the old style clutch type transmission. ford was able to improve the mpg by designing the transmission in that manner. the consumer stated the vehicle would surge ahead with the front end of the vehicle moving upward with such quickness, that he quickly had to apply the brake to avoid an accident. secondly, when going up a hill from a stop or low speed, the vehicle chattered and surged. *jb

On october 7th, 2014 my car (ford focus 2012) began experiencing some transmission issues. it would jerk extremely hard when the gas pedal was pushed. it would only accelerate a little before finally jerking into second gear. the car acted as though it didn't want to shift gears. i took the car into the ford dealership where i had purchased the car and they told me that it needed a new clutch piece and resealed the transmission seals. afterwards, the car was still doing the same as before. i took it back in january of 2015 and was told that there was nothing wrong and the car was performing to the specs. after that, i continued experiencing the same problems and returned with the car again in late may of 2015. this time they said the computer needed to be reprogrammed and synced and it would fix the problem. after i received the car back it still made the same problems. on august 19, 2015 i was at a stop sign and pushed on the gas when the car shuttered as if the transmission was going to fall out it jerked so hard. it finally accelerated and started moving.

For several months i noticed significant shuttering of the transmission when accelerating from a stop into low gears. took the car to dealership for repair, per warranty extension provided by ford (field service action number 14m01). several days after that completed service, the engine light turned on -- and was on and off over a period of approximately one week. the car also periodically jerked forward unexpectedly while accelerating in low gears, and the same unexpected movement happened occasionally when in reverse. i made a follow up service appointment during this time. then two days before the service appointment, after filling the car with gas, the engine would not start. when turning the key in the ignition, the car shuttered violently with a great deal of noise. after calling a tow truck and resting the car for approximately one hour, the tow truck driver was able to get the engine started -- commenting that first and reverse gears felt unstable and unsafe. car has since been towed to the dealership for a second round of service. problem and solution are yet to be determined. *tr

From 2012 to october 2014, at low speeds the vehicle began to shutter, so much so that the vehicle felt as it were going to stall while in traffic. in addition to this, while on a hill the vehicle would roll backwards. i called ford several times to make an appointment during this time period, however was told over the phone " that's just how the transmission works" and they couldn't do anything to correct it. after becoming so frustrated i brought the car into ford in october of 2014, and they replaced the clutch... the shutter problem was corrected after the clutch was replaced, however now the transmission overheats at random times both in traffic and also on the highway and the transmission shuts off, and the vehicle becomes disabled wherever i am. this is being brought into ford this week now at 39000 miles. this transmission has been problematic since purchased i understand that the transmission is a hybrid standard/automatic, and there is a different feel which i am ok with, however this transmission is putting me in an unsafe position the way it rolls back, and frequently stalls at both high and low speeds making me vulnerable to an accident. *tr

This issue started to happen pretty much out of nowhere. i was going from 2nd gear to 3rd gear and all of a sudden it seemed my car was going to stall. it started to shake and studded violently and i quickly stepped on the clutch, took it out of gear, and put it back into third. this time it went and moved fine but as time progressed it has gotten worse. *tr

When starting from a complete stop, the car jerks, shutters and the gears grind & despite having this vehicle in for service over 12 documented times, nothing has ever been done. just as recently as 8/4/15 the transmission was serviced again, replacing the clutch, and it drove great for just under 5 days and then i simply stopped at a stop sign and when i went to pull out the vehicle jerked and bucked, nearly striking another vehicle and then for the 50 mile drive home, the vehicle would grind through the lower gears, making driving very difficult. the vehicle is now back at the dealership with no resolution in sight, ford should just recall this vehicle before someone is seriously injured and why are we all to suffer because ford is no longer the company they used to be, i will never own another ford vehicle and i am trying to get out from under this vehicle, but will do so at a loss.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 65 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated and all the gears failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission computer failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 71,000.

Excessive shuddering on acceleration from a stop. te engine will not start sometimes. the transmission failure light comes on.

While driving, the vehicle loses power. the engine is running, but there is no power to the drivetrain. there is no revving ? just a loss of power. the first time this happened, it was along a back road. there was no warning, the car just started slowing down. my daughter braked and came to a stop ? thankfully as there was no traffic. she put the car in park, then back into drive. the car went into reverse. she put it back in park then tried drive again and this time it did go back into drive. she was then able to move forward under power. the vehicle worked fine for the next week. the second time it happened was in the evening. again, the car just started to lose power. it would not go over 45 mph and she had to pull to the side of the road. she stopped and a friend?s dad came to help. he got it moving forward for about 1.5 miles; then the ?check engine? light came on and the d on the dashboard flashed red. then the car stopped completely. he put it in park and turned the vehicle off. he waited a few seconds and tried to turn the car on. it would not turn over, there was nothing. since this was at night, we had to leave the vehicle where it was. the next morning, while waiting for the tow truck, i decided to try and start it. it did start. the "check engine" light was off and there was no other warnings flashing. it was like it cleared itself. i put the car in drive and the car moved forward as if nothing was wrong. i had it towed to the ford dealership in case this problem was related to the other transmission issues. i explained what happened and they said they would try to replicate the problem. according to the technician since the ?check engine? light was no longer lit, and although they put it on the computer, the codes that were there led them nowhere. they cleared the codes and tried for another day to no avail. *tr

The car was driving fine and all of a sudden the power train quit working despite the fact that the engine was operating correctly. because of the loss of power, i was endanger of getting hit by other cars. the sudden loss of power is a hazard. the manufacturer said the resulting loss of power train was due to a transmission control module. this particular model has been plagued by transmission problems throughout its life. mine began while it was still under warranty and continues today. i am going to abandon the car because i feel it is unsafe at this point for me or anyone else. *tr

Purchased car march 29th 2014 with 12k miles. shortly after car would shutter consistently upon acceleration and not excel in a timely manner.on sept 25th was driving and the car and it did not want to move from a stop. rpm would would just go to 4 or 5 and eventually engage. i was able to drive it a mile home and park it. took it to the ford dealer a few days later when they could get it in. they replaced the body control module $744.68. drove it home and the next day it was worse. called the dealership back and they told me since it was a transmission issue they could not get it in for three weeks. i drove it like this for months. march 2015 i took it to a different ford dealership and the diagnosis code p0902 came up. they replaced the clutch actuator and updated my sync. $452.65. they stated the code was an software issue. after that it was an intermittent problem. drove it home and the next day nothing had changed. my sync no longer works.took it back to that same ford dealership and they now wanted to replace the transmission control module $873.41. and at this point i asked what if this don't work is there any guarantee? they said no. with it being an intermittent problem they could be anything. before i brought it back the 2nd time they made sure that the check engine light was on so that they could put it on the computer and drive it.i love my car and just want it fixed. my car now has 57k miles and i continue to drive it not knowing if i am ever going to be able to make it to my destination. i can drive it for 1k miles with no issues or for three weeks straight barely wanting to move. i have read a lot on the forum website and there are hundreds of people with the same problems. why? so today i am reaching out for some sort of assistance in finding a fix for my car, since the dealership showed no concern. any help would greatly be appreciated. thank you.

The transmission shudders while accelerating and once it is hot, the transmission slips really bad and goes into neutral

1.power steering goes out at any given time, whether its initial crank or driving at any speeds. it appears to occur more so in the warmer months of the year. 2. transmission slips, chatters, rollbacks while in gear, hesitation, delayed response. i have taken vehicle to dealership multiple times, they said they cant get the power steering to re-occur so there was nothing wrong with car! they said the transmission acts within their specs, as this is does come and go but appears 90-95% of the time. however i did receive an extended warranty out of no where for the transmission in which i heard they do nothing but clean oil off the clutch plate which will resolve nothing. my wife is 100lbs soaking wet and cannot control the vehicle in turns when the steering goes out. she has already blown out a tire on a curb due to not being able to correct the path of the vehicle in a turn. *tr

I purchased a used 2012 focus recently and a few days later on 9/22/14 i was driving around 50 mph when the rpms just shot up. i let off the gas and pressed down on it again and the engine revved up but again the car did not respond. i pulled over to the shoulder and tried to change the gear to neutral, then reverse, then back to drive and each gear did not respond to the gas. after shutting the car off i tried to start it up again and the car would not start. the traction control light and the message "hill start assist not available" came on. after letting the car sit for a few minutes it started up and drove fine for the rest of the day. two days later the same thing happened on the freeway and i had to cross three lanes of highway traffic without being able to accelerate. after letting the car sit for a minute the car started back up and drove for about a minute and then the same thing happened again. the check engine light also came on this time and stayed on. i managed to get to school although a little late. on my way home the issue occurred multiple times. the first time the car was jerking forward and loosing the gear and then jerking forward again. the issue occurred a few miles from my house and this time the car would not start up on multiple attempts like it had previously. i disconnected the battery thinking that would help reset whatever was stuck but when the battery was connected back up the car still would not start. after looking over fuses and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery multiple times the car finally started back up and i was able to make the last few miles to my home. the car is very unsafe to drive and i was almost rear ended on the freeway when i had to pull off to the shoulder without power to the drive train. the car has also been making a grinding noise when shifting between gears since the first day. *tr

I purchased this ford on sept 22, 12... it had 83 miles on it.. i am the only owner. since then its been in the dealer for service over 10 times. i am on my (3)third clutch system to stop the shutter and loud noises it makes. the last clutch was installed on sept 23, 14. and after a week its back to its same jerking/shutters and the noise is loud when you make turns. its really nice when i try to get a buyer to test drive it. i pray it does not make a noise during the test drive. and, the front shock suspension made crunching noises at low speeds on un-even road surface. (like driving in and out of drive way and in parking lots). and, the way to fix the front suspension.... the ford service tighten the front end down. and. believe me you feel every impact of the bumps. ford put out a paper that the service people gave us the 1st time we when it. the car needs to learn your driving patterns. and the most resent one is the car might drive like a manual/standard car- with jerks.. and make noise. this is the transmission. this would be nice to have this info. handed to me before i purchased the auto and then i could make a good choice is this purchase. but the information was given to me when i had issues with the ford. any, buyer read other drivers comments. and, if you really like to buy the ford focus. get the manual one. it has no.... issues because you shifting manual transmission. and not have the issues with this auto clutch. and, the 2013 to 2014 have the same issues as the 2012. ford just can't get the problems fixed or they don't want to correct the issues on the focus.. *tr

At a stop light car in drive brakes lock, shift gear locks. message appears transmission not in park. car takes at least 5 to 10 minutes to turn back over to start up. car stalls to go into different speeds, accelerates when turning a corner. *tr

When accelerating from a stopped position, the transmission slips gears and the car lurches forward or stalls and then lurches. i have almost rear ended several cars on many occasions. the car also lurches backwards when in reverse. i have taken the vehicle in twice for service. it is in for service as i am submitting this report. the first time, i was told there were recalls completed on the vehicle. i never received any paperwork from the dealership as to what was actually "replaced/recalled" on my vehicle. it seemed to drive smoother for a few months and then the same problems started again. i'm waiting to hear back from the dealership as to what they have found wrong this time. *tr

The engine light came on while driving, saying check transmission. the transmission is not shifting the car shakes or vibrate when the peed change. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 40 mph, the automatic transmission was unable to shift into different gears. the vehicle was towed and taken to an independent mechanic. the technician stated that a part known as the "fork" fell within the transmission and the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 86,000. updated 12/17/14*lj

I was driving home when a light message on my dash came on saying "hill start assist not available" and the car lost complete power to the wheels, motor revved but i wasn't going anywhere. i tried putting in a sport mode to see if could shift via toggle switch, but still no gears. i got to the side of the road and my check engine light was on and traction control light was on. i shut the car off hoping it would reset something, but once did that the car wouldn't start, i had power and all but when turned key to start nothing happened. it's sitting at the dealer now. i check some mark ii focus forums and this seems to be a very common issue and when taking to dealership nothing is being done. *tr

Driving in heavy traffic on a limited access highway, the transmission apparently shifted into neutral, and would not respond to shift level action [shifting from 'drive' to 'sport' modes]. i was able to coast to a stop on the shoulder. after shutting off the engine, and waiting a few minutes i restarted and the car drove normally. the car drove normally for the next two days. on the third day, the same failure. after restarting, i turned around and it failed again [200 yards from the previous failure]. the car was towed to a dealer's service department, and is waiting for inspection. *tr

While coming to a stop at an intersection. a warning message appeared stating the "hill assist" is not functioning. when the light turned green and i gave it gas the car would not move and the engine rpm ran up. the car would not move in drive, reverse or standard. i turned the car engine off thinking it might reset itself. instead, when i turned the key nothing happened. it would also not shift out of park. i was blocking traffic in the only lane open to allow cars to proceed straight. the right lane was closed due to road construction and i was blocking that road crew. several times i neared receiving a rear end collision. the dealership repair shop tells me the transmission control module malfunctions and needs replaced at a cost of $1300.00. i find that curious as the car is only 2 years old and there was recall issues on that module for other 2012 focus. that recall simply involved ford re-programming the module. *tr

We have been experiencing on multiple occasions a transmission shudder and loss of acceleration during shifting.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, the vehicle shook and jerked. the contact also stated that the vehicle revved and failed to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was unavailable. the approximate failure mileage was 60,100. the vin was not available.

Purchased vehicle new from golden circle ford, jackson tn. i have made complaints to ford corporate about the transmission and tremendous shudder, loosing power and not shifting into lower gears. area rep advised for me to get another opinion from dealer 100 miles from me and he would call back but he never did. local service department says shudder is normal and service manager has same vehicle that does the same. tells me this is the way transmission is made to get good gas mileage. i was recently rear-ended b/c my vehicle stalled and would not accelerate. i took it in again, after body repairs made, they told me, "normal, just the way it is". while sitting at intersection stopped, light turned green, i accelerated, vehicle stalled, was hit. other party assumed liability but asked why i did not go ahead and move. my car did what it does constantly. rpm's rev up to 3500 once vehicle decides to take off. retired on fixed income, this was to be last vehicle. afraid to pick up grandchildren and transport them. where do i go from here? using husbands big truck to go places which is very hard for me to do. we have been doing business with gc since 1984 and extremely disappointed in response. this car should not be on the road. in the event i have a more serious accident, please look into why ford would not recall this vehicle. if they rode in it, they would not want their family members using it. this issue has changed my way of travel and dependency. i say a prayer every time i get in it. i ask for protection and safe return to my spouse, 5 children and 11 grandchildren. please help!!! what do i do?? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving, the vehicle jerked while attempting to accelerate. also, on several occasions, the vehicle appeared to stall. the cause of the failures was not determined. ford of kirkland (11651 flater ave ne, kirkland, wa) and the manufacturer were notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 7,000. *pm *tp

I own a 2012 ford focus se. i bought my ford focus in december 2012 from folsom lake ford located in folsom california. at 20000 miles i took my car in for its factory service and advised the transmission was not operating correctly. according to folsom lake ford their service department reprogrammed the transmission computer and ordered parts for the transmission'parts that would take a month to arrive, but never heard back from folsom lake ford after that. about 35000mls started major transmission issues with my focus-it would not shift correctly. the check engine light never came on, nor were there any other diagnostic/malfunction advisements from the vehicles information system. other systems began to malfunction 'specifically electronic systems, idle control malfunctioned-. idle rough, sometimes idling wild and extreme fluctuations.my focus would stall constantly while stopped at intersections, also randomly stalling while at driving speeds. multiple times my focus stalled on the freeway, while driving at normal freeway speeds 55-70mph. after my focus had a stalling incident it would not start at all as if it was due to a power drainage. if it did not immediately fire-up, the starter would continue to operate whether i tried to discontinue or not. when the vehicle did finally start, the transmission always operated unusually after that 'shifting incorrectly, not smoothly shifting into gear, sometimes not shifting into the proper gear or not shifting at all. at about 42000mls service performed on my focus the battery checked and in good working order. by 43000mls after major transmission issues my battery was corroded/ruined. *tr

Had an issue with the vehicle suddenly shaking, shuddering violently, and being unable to accelerate beyond 40-35 mph. i would attempt to accelerate and it would operate as though in neutral. the vehicle would then kick in and rev up to 6-7000 rpm and still not accelerate. then it would finally feel as though it had downshifted but would not go above 40 mph. i took it in to the dealership to be looked at. they applied the latest computer updates and checked fluids. they told me the vehicle had a shifting fork code (dct), and that it would need to be replaced- yet the vehicle worked fine after the computer was updated. if there was a shifting fork issue, then it wouldn't magically disappear for a period of time after a computer update and come right back. the vehicle operated fine for several hours with no issues. then i felt the transmission 'hitch', and the check engine light again came on. i was literally 2 blocks from the same dealership i took it to earlier that day, so i took it back in. they said the same codes appeared, but that they would attempt the computer update again. the vehicle again seemed to work fine. then i was driving on a backroad highway due to my fear of the vehicle acting up while on the main highway and having my small children with me. the car again acted up and went from 65 to 35 rapidly and refusing to accelerate and acting as though it was in neutral. the transmission would occasionally catch, but would not go faster than 35 mph in a 65 mph area. this could cause a potentially fatal accident, and i cant help but wonder if there aren't any fatal accidents that can be attributed to this. i see that many others report the same exact issue i have. *tr

Car began to shudder and bog down as i moved forward. then slipped going into 2nd. when given a good amount of gas the car hesitated and slammed into gear. *tr

On august 24th, when driving on a major houston highway at 64mph, i lost all drive-train power. my check engine light and drive status indicator immediately started blinking, and i had no response from my throttle. i was simply coasting. thankfully, i was able to safely take an exit ramp and pull into a relatively safe location off the major highway. i waited some time with the car shut off, and after starting it back up, the cel cleared itself and car was functional again after leaving my car at tomball ford for a week, the dealership was unable to duplicate the issue, and found no record of the cel in the system. i was forced to pick the car back up from the dealership, and upon repeated inquiries from my wife as to whether or not the car was safe to drive, the service technicians would not tell her it was safe. on september 7th, only a few short days after picking the car back up, the same thing happened again during busy weekend traffic with my pregnant wife and baby daughter in the car. i had the car towed to my house, as the dealership was closed (it was a sunday). upon starting the car later that day in my driveway, the cel again, cleared itself. i dropped the vehicle off at the dealership again, and the service adviser informed me, that once again, they are unable to duplicate the failure. this car has now shut-down twice on me, with my family in the car, on very busy houston highways. i feel incredibly unsafe driving this vehicle, and question my dealership's ability to fix the issue after they willingly admitted they've "never seen this failure before." i managed to record the transmission failure on video, which can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhxelgqmk1m. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 70 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle went into neutral gear. the contact heard a loud banging sound from the undercarriage before the vehicle went back into gear. the failure occurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was brought in for repair and service updates were performed for the transmission, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 40,000. ..updated 10/15/14 *bf the consumer stated the vehicle was not repaired because the problem could not be duplicated. updated 4/1/2015 *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated that while driving the vehicle stalled and the rear assist malfunction light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while accelerating at various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate and jerked forward without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 3,000.

This year vehicle year has a transmission surge problem. ford focus 2012. dangerous to drive. you never know when the transmission will surge, bucking, scaring me almost to losing control. dealership did not advise me before i bought. will do nothing to help. detroit is aware of the problem and extended the warranty, but that does not help me driving it. my opinion unsafe and should not be on the road. i bought this in feb. 2014 with 34,000 miles on it. i need perry ford san luis obispo to take it back. it can not be fixed. i see 459 complaints on this. how can i get help. i am a disabled senior. *tr

While driving my 2012 - manual 5 speed ford focus down the highway the car lost power. there was no indication that anything was wrong, but all of a sudden while in 5th gear at 70mph the car had no power to propel itself forward, at the same time the radio/entertainment system malfunctioned and turned off. luckily, i was able to make it over to the shoulder and roll to a stop without an incident. turned the car back on and there was very little power getting to the car, maxing out a speed of 50mph on the freeway so as not to stall again, made for a scary ride home. this is the 3rd time this has happened since owning the car, which i purchased brand new and now has 49,000 miles on the odometer. the previous 2 times, i took it to a dealer to diagnose the problem, but they said that there is nothing that they can find wrong with it. now i am active on a ford focus forum because it seems that i am not the only person out there with this issue. ford needs to get it together before they have an injury lawsuit on their hands. *tr

The car goes into neautral with no warning loose all power and three months later it does not go into reverse and lost gears we had to pay out of pocket someone going to get hurt this car needs a recall on transmission before someone gets hurt bad there is so many complaints on transmission. *tr

This has happened multiple times. when pulling out into traffic and trying to accelerate the vehicle will not accelerate above, i'd say 10 mph. it tends to happen when it is warmer out and the a/c is on. i have found that if the shifter is put into "sport mode" and i manually shift from first it won't do it. this is my gf's car and she will not use the "sport mode". this is very dangerous and will probably lead to an accident. *tr

This vehicle has a pretty significant engine shudder as well as a rattling noise between first and second and second and third gears. vehicle at times feels like it is going to stall out. this is a safety issue in all intersections and this vehicle should be recalled.

When pulling out onto a rural highway from a stop sign, my car hesitated between 2-3 seconds after moving partway into the intersection. the feel was distinctly like clutch slippage, and the car refused to move forward despite me applying additional pressure on the accelerator. after almost 2 seconds of very slowly (2-3 mph) crawling into the intersection the transmission engaged abruptly and i resumed moving into my lane. i frequently experience this particular problem, despite two dealers over 4 trips attempting to repair it, and have a good feel for how to modulate the throttle to work through the stall. however, this time it nearly resulted in me being t-boned on the driver's side door by an 18-wheeler traveling 55 mph. fortunately the truck was able to bypass me in his left lane. i will be taking it back to a local dealer for my fifth trip, this time hopefully to receive clutch revision "f" and transmission shaft seal "d". why the cars built with the dps6 transmission haven't yet been recalled is a mystery to me. i can only guess that (hopefully) no one has died when faced with a circumstance similar to mine. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated while driving 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated and the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed the power train control module was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 87,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a manufacturer's recall for the clutch and transmission, which did not provide a permanent remedy to repair the condition of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer more than five times before notification of the manufacturers recalls and they had not been able to replicate the failure and provide a repair solution after several repairs. the contact continued to experience the clutch failing to change over into third gear and the vehicle had a strong hesitation. the vehicle also randomly stalled and the contact had to make several attempts to get the vehicle to restart. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not available.

My 2012 focus shutters alot and doesn't want to shift . i took it back to the dealer in aug 2014. they said they replaced the clutches and seals ect.5 months later while on the interstate it shut down and the dash read transmission failure. this left me stranded for 3 hours along a busy interstate. can anything be done about this please? *tr

I was leaving from the bp gas station from wayne sullivan dr in paducah, ky i had drove from ledbetter which is 10 mins outside of paducah and when i started my car to leave gas station pulling out into busy intersection i went to accelerate and my car would not go any faster than 10mph with oncoming traffic behind me and my 5 year old child in the car with me. i had reported transmission problems before they put computer to adjust it but told me slippage and jerking would be normal due to the type of transmission. my car has always rolled back on steep hills also. *tr

Driving the car, pulled in to post office car died. no power steering or brakes. car would not turn over. display says parking aid malfunction no prnd indicator this is a major issue that needs to be resolved. if happened going down the highway someone could be seriously injured. *tr

This was the first time my service engine soon came on. the transmission was slamming into every gear. i was stuck in 3rd gear revving at approximately 3500 rpm going 30 mph. i was able to drive the car home. the day after i took into spikes ford where the problem was then fixed on 08-11-14. i picked up the car and drove home. 2 hours later as i'm entering a highway to go to wal-mart, the car lurched forward, rpm's flew way above 6000 and car sped up for a second then slowly declined down to 30 on the highway!! the check engine light came on again. i drove the car to the dealership and they felt the problem so they took the car yet again. next day they called and said they fixed it. another 3 hours later, check engine light came on and they reflashed it for the 3rd time in a 4 day period. check engine light came on again so i decided to take it to boggus ford. i took it to boggus ford and within 3 days the car was out from the shop. all was well until later on in the night, the check engine light came on. i took it once last time furious already with the car and once again said it was fixed. i drove to school and as i was finding a parking spot, the check engine light came on. right after, a message said, "transmission hot" pull over safely. another message came on and said, "wait 7 minutes". embarrassed that my brand new focus was doing this i let it cool off. a salesman we worked with, was kind enough to pick up my car and i from school. we took it back to the dealer where we then talked to a service manager. the service manager, laughed about our situation and said as long as we drive slowly the car will continue to heat up and said that ford knows about this. i told him, i almost ran over other students, and he just continued to say as long as you drive slowly, it will keep doing that. the check engine light comes on and off now, but transmission still shifts hard. *tr
