We have classified the 1052 complaints from 2012 Ford Focus about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
The transmission shudders when driving between 20-40 mph. we see misshifting when taking off from a complete stop, clutch appears to slip at take off.
On 10/23/2015 at 51,289 miles, i took the car in because the car intermitterly would not start & when taking off from 1st to 2nd gear, it was jerky. i would have to let off the gas. i also experienced a rubbing & scraping sound that i found out is what they said was the transmission clutch shuddering. the clutch & tcm (transmission control module) were replaced under the ford technical service bulletins tsb15-0120 & tsb-15-0121. on 10/12/2016 at 71,906 miles, i took the car back into the same local ford dealer for shuddering again. they replaced the clutch again & reprogrammed the pcm/tcm & preformed an adaptive learn procedure. i still experience a grinding sound mainly while turning, but have been assured that it is normal & not an issue. my most recent issue is my airbag light came on stationary (no flashing). i currently have less than 80,000 mile on the car. i took it into my local ford dealer & the car gave code dtc b00c2-11-ocsm (right front seatbelt retractor assembly shorted). it will cost over $700 to replace!!! i was told if i am in an accident where the airbags need to deploy, they will not deploy......none of them! less important problems i've experienced is the manual lumbar in the driver seat broke & the "beauty ring" around the headlight switch cracked. ford does not sell just that piece. you have to buy the whole cover that also goes around the air vent right above it even though they are separate pieces clipped together, which is $45.
Took it in for a recall, but it is still doing the same thing, they said they may charge me this time if it is something different, but it's not its doing the exact same thing
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle slipped out of gear, the transmission light illuminated, and the vehicle overheated. the contact coasted over to the side of the road and left the vehicle there until the next day. the contact was able to drive the vehicle, but it stalled whitout warning. the vehicle was towed to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 97,200.
In 2014 i was driving from grand forks, nd to bemidji, mn on the interstate going around 60 when my car shuddered and slowed down to close to 15. i was able to get onto the shoulder after being stranded in the middle of nowhere i was able to call for help. my car was then taken the the ford dealership in bemidji and i had someone pick me up and was able to bring me back to grand forks. (ford had refused to give a rental) around 2 weeks after i got a call stating that my transmission was fixed. i got a ride to bemidji, picked it up and headed home. shortly after i got it back to grand forks i was driving around a residential area in grand forks when i stopped at a 4 way stop waiting for my turn, went to go forward and my car started moving in reverse. i had to slam on my break so i didn't hit the car behind me then i brought it to the ford dealership in town. they "fixed" the issues and gave it back to me two more times, each time i couldn't make it out of the dealership without it shuddering and refusing to shift. finally they "fixed" it at the end of the summer in 2014. this summer i was noticing the car was shuddering when i was in residential areas and it was stop and go, i brought it back down the the dealership i bought it from and they assured me it was fine but they would replace the parts to be sure. this weekend i went home to the cities and as i was driving back it broke again. i was in the passing lane going around 70 when my car shuddered, went down to 55, shuddered again and went down to 10. i was forced to swerve quickly into the left shoulder since i had a semi-truck behind me going 70 that almost hit me and had to cross the interstate to an off ramp to be safe. they have "fixed" it four times and it still breaks down. i've almost gotten into 4 accidents, missed days from work and i'm too scared to drive my vehicle at this point.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle started to vibrate. the contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, there was a hesitation before the vehicle responded. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the repair failed to remedy the issue. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage and vin were unavailable.
The vehicle has a grinding noise when shifting gears. it will also shudder and shake when driving. vehicle has had all updates done by the dealer and ford motor company and the issue still persists. ford said they are unable to fix the issue with the dual clutch.
During acceleration from stop, the 2012 ford focus began stalling when automatically shifting. a check engine indication turned on when the car stalled. the ford focus then shifted into a higher gear and accelerated very slowly. on the highway the focus accelerated slowly and sometimes shifted momentarily into neutral while the shifter is set to drive and the accelerator is pressed. this was indicated by a change in the tachometer to high rpm that didn't correspond to a change in car speed. the problem began occuring once the car had been operated for a warming period of time such as 30 minutes. then the problem persisted until the car is left off for a long period of time (the next day). these stalls put myself in danger because in heavy traffic i could not accelerate to match traffic speeds or cross intersections. the stalls also put me in danger because the ford focus suddenly stalled while cars behind mine expected me to continue accelerating when accelerating from a stop light. i understand ford has recognized a problem that can lead to this due to leaking transmission seals contaminating the clutch pack. i brought the car in for service. ford "reprogrammed" the transmission control unit which was recalled and said a subsequent test drive showed no problems. the next day i drove the car approximately 10 miles, after which the problem reappeared. i asked the ford dealer if they could apply the clutch recall. they claimed it was a warranty extension and not a recall. they said getting the problem fixed under warranty was useless because the parts are back ordered for more than a month. in my opinion, if ford knows there is a defect but is not procuring parts to serve the new extended warranty, they should be forced by the correct agency to recall the car and repair them within a limited amount of time.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact had the clutch replaced on the vehicle, but it continued to jerk each time the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 30,000. updated 12/20/16*lj
My 2012 ford focus stalled in traffic. i was stopped at a red light and when traffic signal turned green, my vehicle stalled while attempting to accelerate. i had no power to moved forward. the needle for shifting of gears went all the way over to 8 &9. transmission light came on. vehicle continued to stall in traffic & transmission light stayed on. this happened on october 07, 2015.
While driving car lost per and almost caused a major accident i was going 65 mph computer said my transmission was not in park.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while at a stop sign, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 63,000.
Had the car for 10 days, went to start, and received a notice "transmission failure- service now" the car ended up getting towed, and needed new tms. even after the fix, the car transmission drives awful. car shifts at odd times, and has extremely slow pick up from a complete stock. im terrified that something is going to happen to me while driving the car! ive seen over 1,000 other complaints about this same problem, and most of these incidents have happened while driving at high speeds. they are stating that the transmission fails and shuts down, causing the driver to lose power of the car. i don't know why that haven't fixed this, considering this could cause serious injury to someone, all because they chose to buy a ford. im nervous to drive the car, because i fear the transmission will fail on me. ford has agreed that the transmission is a problem, but they have not recalled it. now im stuck with this car that im afraid to drive
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. within two weeks of purchasing the vehicle, it failed to start and the key was not recognized in the ignition. also, the 6 speed automatic transmission failed to shift appropriately and the contact had to turn the vehicle off and back on due to the failure. there was also a sudden loss of eps and the steering assist fault warning indicator flashed. the vehicle became difficult to steer intermittently. the dealer (dave knapp ford lincoln, 500 wagner ave, greenville, oh 45331, (800) 717-3673) was unable to diagnose the cause of the failures. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages) and two manufacturer service campaigns (transmission clutch shudder/transmission input shaft seal - 14m01, transmission control module extended coverage). the failure mileage was not available. parts distribution disconnect. updated 08/03/17*lj
Delay on starting, check eng light illuminated, vehicle in revers and would not move. turned vehicle off, cycled key and nothing. cycled key 3-4 more times nothing. cycled key heard clicking noise in dash area, cycled key one more time, vehicle started and transmission engaged, check engine light was on. drove it back to the dealer.
Bought a new 2012 ford focus for my daughter so she would be safe. she just moved across the state for college. we have had constant symptoms with the transmission and she has been on the freeway 3 times when the car suddenly just comes to a crawl with the engine shaking and jerking. this makes the car unresponsive. dealer updated tcm - pcm and replaced clutch and throw out bearing in august 2015. september 2015 she lets me know that while going to school on the freeway the car did the same thing, loss of power no control of throttle and the car is shaking and jerking. transmission malfunction warning light came on again. jerking and shuddering of the transmission. i'm afraid my daughter and others are going to be severely injured when this happens. no control on the freeway is very dangerous. i have read that people have changed their clutch and bearing 5 times? it doesn't seem to fix the problem and it appears to be a design flaw. it's like putting a band-aid on an open artery. problem happens at slow and fast speeds.
Shuttering, no power to wheels, very slow and suddenly engaging, excessive clutch slip, lost reverse. engine light came on. i was trying to cross traffic, at the stop sign i proceeded to go across traffic to the median turn lane. car would not engage gear, when it did it was very slow and no power even with gas mashed to the floor. all this time i had cars approaching me from the south bound lane, very dangerous and scary. i then decided to just make a right hand turn and get off the road, which was hard because the electronic power steering assist in this car went out months ago with still no recall on this defect. i turned right down a side street and tried to turn around only to find out i have no reverse gear now, i am so over this lemon of a car. buyers beware, stay far far away from ford products especially this model car. ford touts that they are committed to safety, i find that hilarious. why on earth would you let a vehicle with the track record this model has with steering going out and transmissions just quitting when they want to, to still be on the road? a life threatening danger to the driver as well as anyone that is sharing the road with the vehicle. the next day, engine light gone, car shifts normal?????? vehicle is at ford now, they have a recall to re-program the transmission control module?
My car only has 4500 miles! the cars transmission is junk! the car is not safe to drive period! there is a recall on the transmission! on the city streets, i have ruined two 700 wheels trying to park on a hill! the car will not hold in drive or reverse! i had a highway patrol car behind me at a light, i was going right, there was a slight upgrade. when i took my foot off the gas the car rolled backwards in drive, and hit the highway patrol car! he pulled me over with his mic. "driver pull to the right and stop! driver, turn off your car and put your hands out side the window! had his hand on his gun! thought i was drunk? i told him that the car rolls in drive and reverse! i tried twice to have ford buy back this dangerous car! the highway patrol officer believed me and told me to report it to ford! he said what if there was a person behind you, and you pined them between us? i told me to report this to you! now i have a mint car in the garage! i won`t drive it! i won`t sell it and pass the problem to someone else! beside the price on these cars has crashed because of the recall! ford can`t fix it! i want my money back! i have a mint top of the line ford focus sitting in my garage! ford can`t fix it and wont give me my money back! they won`t even tell me why? please help! these cars are dangerous to drive! i have been ripped off by ford! first and last ford i ever buy! my daughter has owned two of these focuses they both did the same thing! she was afraid to drive them! she left the car at the dealership and left! she now has a 10k charge off on the car! this is bs! i want all my money back! ford has a dangerous car out there and i am going to expose them! i own wild rods, i am 60, adult driver, no tickets! why should i have to keep this dangerous car i can`t drive and they can`t fix? please help me! i have a car that costs me $400 a month, i can`t drive! thank you! *tr
The transmission clipped as to a 4th replaced faulty clutch while backing into the garage. the car jerked backwards out of know where and hit the side of the garage while backing in to park. the rear fender, bumper and parking aid sensors are now damaged thank you to a faulty transmission and clutch. i am tired of not feeling safe with my daughter in the car. *tr
My wife and child were at a red light and when the light turned green and the gas pedal was pressed, the vehicle did not move only revved causing the man behind her to inch very close behind due to the light then honking his horn and yelling. in addition, after my wife and child returned home, i went to run to the store only to find that the vehicle does not turn over, not even sound like its attempting to as there is no noise when turning the key. i believe the vehicle does not recognize what gear it is in, thus will not start and has always had erratic shifting and lurching tendencies. i do not know what to do now, i have a family of five i support and no money to fix this. how am i going to get to work!!! i still have 5 years to pay on this...ughhh. trapped
I have received my third service bulletin on my 2012 ford focus transmission.ford just keeps extending the warranty on certain parts of the transmission.with so many things that can go wrong with this transmission i believe ford should give a lifetime warranty for this transmission or replace them.had i any knowledge of these problems i never would have bought this car. thank you
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and the transmission warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission module and seals needed to be repaired and replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 50,000. the vin was not available.
Excessive shuddering/shaking upon acceleration, vehicle does not seem to have any power. on 8/28 i was stopped at light in drive and vehicle would not move, after changing gears i finally was able to drive it, a short time later vehicle would not move again in drive but the engine light came on, on the way to the dealership vehicle lost power and would only go 15 mph crawled to the dealer with emergency flashers. dealer had the vehicle for 5 days and completed the software update program 15b22, since receiving the vehicle back i am still experiencing low power and shuddering. have been rear ended tapped once because it doesn't have any power, very concerned to drive vehicle to to loss of power and excessive shuddering. contacted ford customer care and they did not have a sense of any long term fix to this issue nor does the dealership. dealer states they are slammed with these vehicles every day.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. as a result, the contact ran over a concrete curb. the vehicle restarted after the incident, but failed to move. the vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the tcm short circuited and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 75,000.

On august 20, 2015, i was driving my ford focus on route 38 in illinois; dashboard light came on indicating "malfunction transmission service now." immediately, i visited the nearest vehicle service repair shop and requested that the serviceman check my transmission fluid. i just thought that maybe something happened while i was getting an oil change. the serviceman was very nice to check my vehicle at no charge. serviceman said, there is an internal malfunction with your transmission. he referred me to a ford dealership. of course my first step was to check on line to verify if there were any recalls on my ford focus sel. i visited the following website (http://www.cars.com/recalls/ford/focus/2012/. the sight showed "nhtsa vehicle safety recalls. recall number 13v523000 recall date: 10/30/2013. component: power train automatic transmission control module (tcm.pcm) on august 20, 2015 at 11:12 am, i contacted ford customer service at (800) 392-3673. i told forest (customer service phone rep) the problem that i was having with my vehicle. he asked if he could place me on hold to check for recalls; the call was disconnected.. i call (800) 392-3673 again, i spoke to a customer service representative named gabriel. gabriel informed me that there were no recalls on my vehicle. gabriel said, ford program has extended the warranty on my transmission and it is covered up to $150,000 miles. why is ford extended the warranty, if there are no problems with the transmission. why wasn't this vehicle recalled for the power train? after all, nhtsa vehicle safety recalls did indicate that there was a problem with the power train. it has been my experience that power train do not usually require repair on vehicles with only 59,000 miles. ford needs to immediately repair my vehicle or replace it at no charge.
On the date of the incident my family and i were getting on the highway headed to the beach, when i went to press the accelerator to merge on the highway the rpms went up but the car lost all acceleration for for about 5 seconds causing us to lose speed while merging. the car then changed gear really hard and jumped us forward almost causing an accident. the check engine light came on. this vehicle has been in 3 times now for transmission/clutch replacement. it will randomly shutter, hesitate, jerk and jump forward. on one other occasion it almost caused me to rear end a vehicle in front of me. the last time we brought it to the dealer upon picking the vehicle up for a dual clutch replacement i was told it would probably need to go back in soon and be replaced again. this is a known issue with this year and model and is unsafe
While driving down the freeway the car started to coast and engine went to an idle. the indicator for transimission position went blank. i was nearly hit by the vehicle behind me. the next week i was pulling out into traffic and it did the same thing and was almost broadsided by a delivery van. the car moved out into traffic and then stopped for almost 2 minutes. later down the road it cut out on the highway again, twice more on a side street, and then again as i was near the dealership. i took it direct to the dealership where they performed a computer upgrade. i received no notice of this issue from ford. i could have been seriously hurt or killed by this and now know it is a known issue at ford. they need to address this issue for all owners of the vehicle as it happens suddenly with no warning.
While at a dead stop my car failed to respond to the accelerator, two times. the engine would rev and nothing would happen except that the "p-r-n-d-l" indicator on the dash would flash. eventually the engine stalled and couldn't be restarted for 10 minutes. this is a sign of of a faulty tcm (transmission control module). 2011 & 2102 ford fiestas and 2012 focus are prone to this type of failure. ford replaced the tcm under the emmissions warranty. i believe this is a safety issue and a recall should be issued. i have seen posts on the web where this failure happens while driving.
Purchased a 2012 ford focus in december of 2014. the transmission has had shifting issues almost the entire time that i have had the vehicle. in may, the transmission began stuttering at low speeds. when reaching speed on an interstate on-ramp, the vehicle showed the message "vehicle not in park" and shut off as i was pulling into traffic. a day later when driving it, it stuttered again and the check engine light came on. took it, along with a defective part notice to the dealer for the automatic transmission clutch system, which the dealer said was the issue and supposedly replaced it under the warranty. the dealer also reset the "autolearn" feature in the transmission. for a few days it worked fine, then the stuttering and shifting issues began again. on august 8th, 2015 the vehicle was driven to the store, and worked as it usually did, with minor stuttering and grinding that appears to characterize the ford transmission. it was parked for roughly 30 minutes while in the store, upon starting and putting the vehicle in reverse, the transmission would not turn or gain enough power to propel the car out of the parking space. as it rolled back, it was shifted into the drive position, the vehicle began to propel until it went to shift and the car "missed" the gear and stuttered losing all momentum. this continued from every start/stop. stopped at another store, when came back out the car would not start on the first crank, and the check engine light came back on. the power issues to the transmission on take off and the missing gears continued all the way to my home.
Car loses power when in drive at 20mph on street. pulled over, turned engine off. restarted normally. no prior notification on dashboard. the next day while in rush hour traffic on the freeway car loses power. it resumes acceleration after stalling for approx 10 secs. check engine sign appears after resuming acceleration. i exit the freeway and make my way back home. transmission fails twice while en route on freeway. both occasions i manage to merge to the emergency lane while in neutral. once it resumed after a few seconds, another time i restarted the car after turning it off for approx 10 seconds. i take it to bob wondries ford in alhambra for tcm replacement. transmission problems resume one week later, with slow acceleration on freeway, loss of power when driving uphill, transmission shuddering, and transmission grinding.
2012 ford focus. consumer writes in regards to transmission control module problems. consumer has previous complaint on another vehicle in artemis. *smd the consumer experienced an intermittent loss of power. while driving, it seemed the engine was no longer connected to the transmission. the consumer stated the transmission control module was replaced. however, it was replaced with the same part number as the original. *jb
I have brought my vehicle into ford service center multiple times regarding the recall and replacement of my clutch because of stalling and faulty acceleration which has almost caused accidents on 2 occasions merging into oncoming traffic and also increasing an injury to my back problems by the jumpy acceleration. ford dealer claims that the replacements are on such a high back order that they informed me to try back in "november 2016" and just reset the clutch programming for new memory and insists i drive it hard as possible. this is a safety risk for myself and other drivers . the specific recall is fsa title: transmission clutch shudder / transmission input shaft seal warranty extension field service action number: 14m01
After having the car repaired from a recall, the 6th time for repair; the car broke down and had to be towed to the dealership. the transmission control module is out now and it is in the shop for the 7th time related to the same issue. i consider this car dangerous and will ultimately cause an accident or death. why are you not doing anything about this issue. it is for all 2012 ford focus vehicles.
The vehicle would not turn over. there was no clicking of the vehicle trying to start. after 4 tries to start the car it was left to sit for 30 min before we tried again. the car then was tried to start again did not start until the 4th try. then the car started. it seems to be skipping a gear while driving will go from 6k rpm to all of the sudden jumping down to 2k rmp. there is something wrong with the clutch/ transmission with shifting and now something going on with the starting system.
I was driving, and the transmission stopped delivering power to the wheels. the engine was running, and revving when i pushed the gas pedal, but no acceleration. the transmission was in drive. i changed to l, and no power. i pulled over and put the gear into park, back to d, and no power. i had to restart the engine twice, before the transmission engaged.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle stuttered without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission clutch failed. the vehicle was repaired under warranty. seven months later, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was serviced for the same failure. in addition, the vehicle was unable to shift gears and the engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission clutch and transmission control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 46,000.
Bought the car used in may. it drove fine for the first month and now the check engine light comes on with a code for the transmission. the car hesitates and shutters when you start from a stop and when you get going it feels like it shifts into neutral, rpm goes real high and then shifts hard. the code that pops up is p2862, p2831, p2832, p2837, and p285f. for 2 of them the code is shift fork a and b position circuit shift, and the others say no definition found.i don't know what to do from here.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving at 25 mph, the engine vibrated and the contact could heard a metal to metal grinding noise. in addition, the vehicle would roll back and lose power when stopped. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that there was a transmission failure. the technician cleaned the engine and replaced the clutch and rings, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 80,000.
Accelerating up a shallow hill the transmission began to stutter and jerk and grind as it changed gears. in the middle of the jerking the car shifted into neutral and revved up. complete loss of power at speed. pulled over to the side of the road (on a hill) put the car in park and shut the car off. when i released the brake the car rolled backwards down the hill - clearly the car was not engaged in park. i applied the brake to stop the car and engaged the e brake. i tried to restart the car it would not start. error kept flashing 'parking aid malfunction - service required'. the failure left us stranded on the side of the road on a 95 degree day without the ability to start the car. i am currently waiting for ford dealer to determine the cause of the failure. the jerking and stuttering of the transmission is a very regular occurrence for my car. it happens at almost every startup, especially when hot. the jerking and stuttering has in the past resulted in loss of power to the point that i have almost been hit by oncoming cars when i tried to pull out into the street. i had also brought my car to the dealer previously complaining of severe jerking and stuttering and was told this was normal for the transmission.
While driving in open country, vehicle suddenly shut off. after approximately 15 minutes the vehicle could be restarted. drove the vehicle approximately 10 additional miles after restart and then the vehicle suddenly coasted as if in 'neutral" even though gear shift was in "drive" position. this time the gear indicator light flashed and the engine continued to run with the vehicle in "drive." shut off vehicle. shut off the engine. after approximately 10 minutes, restarted the vehicle and drove remainder of trip without incident. next day while driving in local country traffic, vehicle again coasted and appeared to shift to "neutral" without warning. gear indicator light flashed and engine continued to run even though shift lever was in "drive." had vehicle towed to dealer for service.
2012 ford focus, purchased used in 2015 with 6k miles, has been jolting and failing to accelerate while driving on streets/highways and has been in for assessment and repair 2 times; currently under repair for a 3rd time as of today (11/11/15).
After driving for about a half hour in rush hour traffic in the southern california area, my car slipped from active gears (i believe 2nd gear) and right into neutral. i couldn't accelate and drive with trafffic, while travelling up hill my car decellerated quickly. in trying to get to the shoulder, i narrowly avoided an accident. after finally reaching the shoulder i was able to put the car in park (it started to roll downhill) and then apply the parking brake. 10 seconds later my car was running fine again. that following monday i brought my car into the dealership to be serviced. this was the second time that this exact issue happened. the first time was the week prior to.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle was engaged into the drive gear and it suddenly accelerated independently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was informed that the vehicle was operating as designed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 40,000. the vin was not available.
While accelerating and merging onto the interstate, the car surged forward briefly, made a banging sound and shifted by itself into neutral with the check engine light illuminating. after coasting to a stop on the shoulder, i placed the vehicle into park and shut off the engine, after a minute or so, i restarted the engine an placed it into drive. the car accelerated to about 20 mph and again went into neutral. after stopping and restarting one more time i placed the car into low and carefully drove to the nearest exit where i stopped and called for a tow truck. the car was then towed to lithia ford.
7/1/15 car had sudden loss of power. the double clutch transmission was in d but acted as if in neutral. pulled into a business driveway. parked car. put selector in p, car dash said car was not in p and would not allow key to be removed. called a ford dealer, had car towed to dealer. waiting on them to work on car. (they said they did not have available time in shop until 7/9/15)
Letter from senator isakson on behalf of constituent re 2012 ford focus issues. (attn: hanna yu). *smd the consumer stated the vehicle had four major repairs and 6-8 minor repairs done to the transmission. the vehicle would jerk. also, while in the middle of a making a turn, the vehicle suddenly stopped. *jb
Tcm recall, i have had to take my car to the shop going on 3 times now for the same issue. my car is loosing power, hesitating to go into gear, and shuddering while driving. my radio is also turning off while driving and does not fix until i turn the car on and off. my transmission feels like its driving. i don't feel safe driving this vehicle and i have started the steps to file a complaint with ford. i want to drive a safer car i feel like im risking me and my passengers lives when i drive this car. i love it but i just want to feel safe and want to feel like my auto company cares about its drivers. once when they first fixed the tcm i drove it off the lot and got a transmission error message and they had to come take it back to the dealer. when i pull off at a light my car shakes until it gets to 20mph then it still shudders a bit until it gets about 50 mph
It's like it doesn't want to shift and then that hesitation you feel and it'll kick in,? driving down the street transmission will stop working. there is never any warning signs. very dangerous. does not matter if you are going up an hill or driving flat road and speed has no factor either. then the car will turn off on its own. there are a lot of complaints with transmission problem with ford focus. every complaint is about the same transmission issue. ford focus 2012 is a lemon....... now family can't ride in this car. not safe! it just sits at home. *tr
The transmission shudders and slips on acceleration from stops. the transmission malfunction light is on and it will not shift. vehicle jerks when shifting.
