Problems with 2018 Ford F-250 STEERING

On average, the 2018 Ford F-250 starts to “feel” problems with the STEERING and its various aspects after 30 753 miles.

Recently reported STEERING problems on 2018 Ford F-250

25k miles and when i hit a bump in the road the front end shakes violently. ford replaced a steering stabilizer identified as the "fix". 1k miles later the violent shaking is back. i have scheduled an appointment next week but no additional fix has been identified. i fear that replacing parts will only delay the issue until it is out of warranty. help!

Excessive wheel hop when driving 55 mph

I was driving 70 mph and hit a bump on the highway. the pickup started shaking and it took me on to the shoulder until i was able to get it back under control. it didn't stop shaking until i slowed down to around 20mph.

Death wobble. this is the second time. the first time the dealership replaced stabilizer, and changed caster. first time occurred around 33000 miles. this happened agian at highway speed 70mph at 50500 miles on straight highway while crossing bridge. was forced to rapidly slow down in heavy traffic and exit highway. wobble did not go away until around 25-30 mph.

After i hit a bump going about 55 mph on interstate 10 in phoenix, az the death wobble started again. i just had it fixed 11mar19 at 39719, currently have 56,899.

At approx 60 miles per hour on a paved road, the steering began to shake violently. i aggressively braked to maintain control and was able to get the shaking to stop as i slowed to under 10 miles per hour.

While driving, a bump to the suspension causes the suspension/ to bounce or death wobble (as we have seen in the jeep world). this has occurred/ multiple times at speeds from 45-70mph. several times at highway speeds have caused the truck to change directions. the most current event occurred yesterday (9-25-2019) and required me to slow the vehicle to under 10mph to recover. the shaking was violent enough to open the glove box. i have had 5 of these occurrence so far in ownership of this vehicle which was purchased new 14 months ago. the vehicle is completely oem including wheels and tires. nothing has been added. i cant use the vehicle as intended (towing) as i'm concerned of loosing control of the vehicle under those circumstances.

I have experienced violent shaking and extreme vibration resonating from the front wheels and steering components of my ford f250 super duty truck while driving. i understand this to be referred to as the 'death wobble' and for very good reason. i have 37 years of law enforcement experience, and i can assure you this issue left unchecked will be the root cause many traffic deaths past, present and future. it's occurred five times with me to date within 18 months all five causing total loss of steering control, and the last two causing me to cross center divide of the roadway and into oncoming traffic. i narrowly avoided a head on collision with an 18 wheeler in one of those incidents. i've had the vehicle checked by dealerships and independent shops. i've spent thousands of dollars on repairs and parts. ford needs to offer a solution now before any else is put in harms way.. or dies.

Ford f250 death wobble. vehicle shudders violently for no reason and you have to come to a complete stop to stop violent shaking.https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t67905_ds972988 https://www.classaction.org/news/ford-hit-with-death-wobble-class-action-over-alleged-suspension-steering-defects-in-f-250-f-350-models. most recent occurance a week ago 50mph happened out of nowhere scared grandson real bad. me too

While driving my vehicle i started having violent shaking that resulted in it being hard to control the vehicle. i thought i had a blow out and quickly pulled off the road. after checking all tires and seeing that they were ok i re-entered the vehicle and drove it home. the next event happened while i was driving home from work on the interstate. i was driving at around 70-72 mph and the vehicle started to violently shake once again causing me to temporarily lose control. i quickly decelerated to around 35 mph and gained control just before hitting the cement retaining wall that separated north/south traffic. i drove it home at 35-40 mph the rest of the way home. i called my dealership and explained to them the problem and they gave me an appt time to bring it in. i took it in and left it with them and they said they were unaware of any known problems that would cause this. i left the truck with them and they drove it and told me later that afternoon that they didn't find any problems. i drove it home and the next morning on my way to work i experienced the same violent shaking as mentioned above. i called the dealership back and told them i was bringing it back. they drove the truck again several times and informed me they experienced the problem with the shaking. they said they would call ford engineers and get a recommended fix. i left the truck with them a week, they installed a new steering stabilizer and told me it was fixed. also they informed me that my front tires were now feathering and said it was due to miles. the truck only has 30k miles, the tires are worn due to the truck being out of line due to the shaking. the stabilizer did not fix the problem, the truck is now shaking on a more consistent bases. i have contacted ford corporate, a buy back offer was initiated. i was denied a buy back offer. the problem still exist and the truck is unsafe.

Driving at 65 mph the truck began to wobble uncontrollably. i was unable to control steering and was taken left across two lanes of traffic into the median on a highway. the truck wobbles and shakes so bad i was unable to reduce speed very quickly.

Multiple times when hitting a small pot hole or driving on a rough paved road vehicle went into what is called a 'death wobble'. vehicle was uncontrollable. took vehicle i. and front end work was reportedly done at dealership. got the vehicle back and it went into a 'death wobble' again. at approximately 50 to 60 mph during each occurrence the vehicle the vehicle shook so severe that it was uncontrollable.

This vehicle has a serious defect which ford needs to finally acknowledge. when hitting bumps or bridge transitions on the highway the front end begins to shake violently also known as the "death wobble". the only way to stop the shaking is to slow the truck down to about 25 miles per hour on a 75 mile hour road. this is going to cause a accident or kill somebody. my truck is now at the dealership for the 3rd time in less than a year with under 15,000 miles on the vehicle. after research this appears to be a serious flaw with the 2017 & 2018 ford f250 trucks. i see that several complaints have been filed and it is sad that that a mandate is not being issued to correct this problem. this is a serious issue and waiting until someone gets injured or killed should not be an option.

Death wobble at about 3000miles after hitting a pothole on a city street , this seems to be a very common problem , when r u going to address the problem ? when people get killed ! how many complaints before u do something about it????

When going 70 or above and u hit a bump or rough spot in the road the truck does what they call the death wobble very scary and someone is going to die if this does not get taken care of the truck nearly loses control it's so bad

While driving hwy. 84 from lubbock, tx hit washboard ruts in span of 5 miles. had 3 episodes of truck violent shaking or death wobble , almost loosing control in traffic. 22,000 miles on truck all highway miles. took in for warranty work. right front end replacement. driving 75 mph had to drop down to 20 to gain control. wary of another episode. ford needs to fix problem. these trucks to expensive for this to be happening.

Problem is what is know as "death wobble" where you loose control of steering because both front wheels are shaking violently, hitting brakes makes it worse, vehicle has to slow down drastically to get shaking to stop. it happens when you hit uneven pavement or bumps in road.i have had it happen at speeds of 50 to 70 plus miles per hour. my truck is stock from dealer with no upgrades or changes. ford has only replaced the steering damper which went bad again after about 4000 miles. there are alot of other truck owners that have experienced the same issue and ford doesnt seem to have or offer a real fix for the issue. when this occurs it is causing additional wear and tear on other front end steering control components. this issue needs to be looked into further before someone gets badly hurt or killed. any help you can provide would be appreciated. if any additional detail or information is needed please let me know. i have several witnesses when this issue happend.

At 17,000 miles the truck started going into what everyone calls a "death wobble" when at high speed and/or rough spot in the road. it is clear that they have a major safety issue here and they are doing nothing about it and their fix is only a patch that delays the problem to a later date.

While driving approximately 65 mph on march 9, 2019 the front end of my 2018 ford f250 began violently shaking/ oscillating after hitting a rough patch of road in the far right lane of the highway. i lost control of my vehicle and ended up crossing two lanes of traffic before coming to rest in the grass median strip of the highway. i'm worried about my safety and the safety of other drivers. luckily no one was near me when this happened. my wife will not drive my truck anymore due to this serious issue. i will be contacting the dealership tomorrow.

At around 55 too 60 on uneven road i get the death wobbles and have to slow down in traffic very scary when my family is in there

When traveling on the interstate and hit a bump the truck shakes violently and does not stop until you come to a complete stop. this has happened at least 5 times. it seems it is happening more frequently now. the truck has 30000 miles. i have had it for 1 year

Vehicle has stock tires and suspension with 43,000 miles. at approximately 60-65 mph the front steering begins to thrash and ocilate violently causing the truck to become uncontrollable until slowed down to 35 mph.

While driving 3/3/19 at 70 mph i hit a ruff spot on the road my truck started shaking uncontrollably after slowing down i regained control. 19000 miles!

My 2018 f-250, 11 months old has a death wobble. it has occurred multiple times between speeds 50-65 mph on interstate as well as state two-lanes. left wheel hitting any bump can lead to total loss of control of the vehicle. front end now seems loose after these many occurrences. i am now afraid to drive it on interstate and drive with "white knuckles" everywhere else. only a matter of time before i end up off the road or into oncoming traffic.

I have a 2018 ford f250 at about 4450 miles had this death wobble happen on the freeway. had no load and was doing about 80mph, just passed another vehicle as i was pulling in front of it i hit a pot hole and the death wobble started. i had to slow to about 30mph to regain control, nearly caused a accident with the vehicles behind me.

On 3 occasions (the first 2/17/2019 at about 35,000 miles), we experienced what we have come to know as "death wobble" on our 2018 ford f250. we had purchased the truck used with 33,000 miles. we do not know if the prior owner had experienced this same problem. we were driving straight down the interstate at night at approx. 65 mph. i was driving and hit a bump in the highway. immediately, the truck was shaking violently, i was pulled all the way from the right lane over into the left lane. i had absolutely no control over the steering. my first thought was that we were experiencing a tire "blow out". when the truck finally slowed enough to stop the shaking and i could once again steer, we pulled onto the shoulder to check our tires. there were no tire issues. it was absolutely terrifying. thankfully, it was on sunday night without much traffic. had there been a semi truck the left lane, we would likely have been killed. if there had been a small car in the left lane, we may very well have killed or injured passengers. when we got to our destination in fl, we took the truck to the dealer to have it checked. the dealer did not find any cause or problem and told us it was likely a problem with the trailer we were pulling. we were skeptical, but continued driving the truck. on our return trip when my husband was driving, we once again experienced the violent shaking. he was able to slow down and get control of the steering without a crash. soon after we returned home, we took the truck to the dealer where we had purchased the truck. they replaced the steering dampener. although, the tires continued to wear very unevenly, we didn't experience another incident until october, 2019. steering dampener replaced. it is going back to the dealer this week. i urge action before someone is killed. the death wobble is a present and urgent problem!

When driving between 60 and 75 mph the truck begins to shake violently. the steering wheel rotates back and forth out of control. the mirrors rattle and the entire truck bounces. this will occur after hitting a rough patch of interstate or when braking to exit the interstate. the truck must be slowed to approximately 40 mph before the shaking subsides and normal driving can occur. a continuing problem. when i take it back to the dealer service department for warranty i am simply told "they were not able to replicate the problem"

This vehicle suffers violent shaking and shuttering when hitting rough patches in the road. this occurs at higher speeds, but i have seen it at 45 mph. very dangerous when this occurs at 75 mph on a highway interstate. the shaking requires immmediate slowdown to almost a complete stop. this vehicle is a danger on the road.

Death wobble in steering & or suspension

While driving , front end has a wobble , or looseness that makes it kinda scary to drive. afraid i'm going to lose control of the truck.

Experienced steering wheel oscillation (death wobble) this has occured while driving on the interstate after driving over an uneven pavement at speeds of 55, 65 and 70mph. the steering wheel shakes violently and lost steering and braking capabilities during the event. it stopped after i decelerated to about 40mph forth until i slowed to approximately 35mph. ford does have a tsb out on the issue but they are only replacing parts that have worn out, not the hidden issue that is causing heavy duty suspension parts to wear out so quickly.

At 65 mph when encountering rough expansion joints, potholes, or other bumps the truck will go into what is commonly called death wobble. the front end shakes very violently back and forth. steering is impossible, it will wrench the steering wheel out of my hands. i had to slow down to 35 mph to make it stop. i was passing someone and couldn't complete the pass. if the road had been curved at all i would have gone into a very steep ditch.

Steering death wobble at highway speeds !!!!! ford has known about this issue for over ten years. why is this issue still not being addressed? i seems that ford is leaving it up to the customer to resolve. i guess i'm the the dummy for trusting that ford has safety in mind when the f250 was put into production with a know safety steering problem. there is a fix according to the internet but ford continues to fail their customer by not providing the solution at no cost. how many people had to die before ford decides to recall? i paid over 70k for the truck and it is very scary to drive. not knowing when the next time the front wheels are going to start the (death wobble). ford please resolve !!!!!

While driving on the interstate, at 70 mph (posted speed limit) experienced extreme vibration/wobble in the steering wheel and tires after driven over slight rough patch on the highway. it was extremely hard to maintain control of the truck to get it to the shoulder of the highway through traffic. vibration was apparently visible to onlookers, as several drivers motioned for me to pull over. truck was bought brand new, six months ago, and only has 16k miles. truck is stock, no modifications have been done on the truck. vibration/wobble occurred several more times so we exited highway and returned home via backroads (posted speeds of 55 mph or less) without further incident.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 ford f-250. while driving approximately 60 mph and above, the vehicle exhibited the death wobble. the contact had to decelerate significantly to stop the wobbling. tri-state ford (located at 2117 s main st, maryville, mo 64468, 660-582-3677) diagnosed that the steering damper failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: cas25169176q0r9d3. the approximate failure mileage was 10,000. *ln *tr

My 2018 ford f-250 has the "death wobble". i purchased the truck in february 2018 and by december 2018 had driven less than 8,000 miles. while driving at 70 to 75 mph on an interstate highway, i crossed an expansion joint on a bridge and the front-end started bouncing uncontrollably and the steering wheel shaking violently. the shaking stopped after slowing to under 45 mph. i pulled to the side of the road and checked to see if a i had flat tire or other issue causing the problem. i called the ford dealership, from which i purchased it, for resolution of the problem. they indicated it that they believe the problem was the steering dampener. i brought it to the dealership for repair on 12/30/18 and they kept it for a week. they indicated the "damper" would be replaced under tsb 18-2268. they kept the truck until 1/7/19 until parts arrived. the repair invoice (attached) indicated they'd replaced a failed steering linkage damper, part no. spo hc3z 3e651 f - damper assembly. this was not caused by lack of maintenance or improper use of the equipment. it was very frightening. the uncontrollable vibration and the need to suddenly slow on an expressway was extremely dangerous. several trucks and cars had to take evasive action to miss me while i pulled over.

Violent shaking and a consistent vibration under normal driving conditions on the highway.

At 7909 miles since new the vehicle exhibited a violent oscillation of the steering wheel coupled with enormous shaking in the front suspension, induced instantly after crossing a bridge transition on an interstate highway at approximately 65 mph. i nearly lost control of the vehicle and was forced to stop the vehicle on the road shoulder to get it to stop the oscillation. the shaking was so violent it also cracked the rear half of the dual panel sunroof glass.

At appox. 12,000 miles the front string started to feel loose. by 14,500 mi it became very loose, jerky over normal hi way expansion joints. at 14,700 miles, after going over an expansion joint on the hi way at 64 mph, it went into "death wobble" shaking so hard i could barley control it. it is at the dealership, bob hurley ford. tulsa, ok. at this very moment. this was almost an accident caused by ford.

While driving at approximately 65 mph, as i crossed an expansion joint from an overpass back to the main road surface, the front end of the truck began to oscillate. the handling returned to normal only after i had reduced my speed.

There is an uncontrollable wobble in the steering wheel when hitting a bump. it will not stop until the vehicle is stopped. it shakes so bad that there is fear it will veer into traffic or just send me off the road. it is in the shop for this same problem now 5 times and each time they tell me its fixed only to find out that is comes back again and worse. i will be putting the date of the first time it happened. it is still not resolved.

Hit some bumps on a bridge on i-24 and steering wheel shook violently and i almost lost control until truck slowed below 50mph

I was driving down i-10 going east on i-10 and crossed the bridge at the alabama/florida line. i was changing lanes while going across the bridge and hit a bump. the front end of the vehicle started violently shaking. the steering wheel was also violently shaking. i had no control of the vehicle and it shook until my speed dropped below 45 mph which took about 20 to 30 seconds. i felt that if i had hit the brakes, that the front wheel would have sheared right off the axles. this was the most frightening situation i have ever experienced in a vehicle. i have kept the speeds below 50 since the incident and i do not feel safe in the vehicle.

Hit bump on highway and vehicle starts shaking out of control. this has happened over 5 times now. ford would only replace steering dampener. it did it again after being in shop for 3 days. this is very dangerous and can only stop the shaking by slowing to a stop in the middle of the road as it is almost impossible to steer. from researching online, this is an ongoing problem referred to as the "death wobble". ford refuses to look further into the suspension and steering components and claims everything is fine and it was the tire air pressure. the air pressure was to specs. and still did it.

My 2018 ford f250 super duty has a violent shake (death wobble) if i hit any kind of bump in the road at highway speed, my truck will shake so bad to the point i cant hold onto the steering wheel and whatever is in my cup holders goes flying in vehicle. i have given ford 3 attempts to fix this issue and every time they try to fix it, the problem keeps happening. i have contacted ford's corporate office and spoke with them multiple times about the issue. at this time, they have told me that i just need to keep trying to get it fixed and they refuse to help with any kind of trade assistance to change trucks. ford knows this is an issue with 2017/2018 super duty trucks but doesn't seem to care about their customers. i'm terribly disappointed in how i have been treated by a company that i spend over $250,000 with over my lifetime.

Between 60 to 75 mph when hitting certain bumps the steering starts violently shaking and will not stop till slow down to about 25 mph. this started at around 24k and has happened 10+ times. also at 37k sync 3 radio no longer will come on and wiring issues cannot get trailer braking to connect to the truck. lights work fine but always shows trailer disconnected so braking doesn't work. you can also start the truck in neutral and put it in any gear without having your foot on the brake.

Started around 15000 miles extreme shaking in the front end (death wobble).it happened when i went over certain bridges and over passes on the interstate around 70 mph. now has 20000 miles on it and has become unsafe to drive. the shaking happens quite often now. even going slower on side roads, all it takes is hitting a small bump in the road apparently this has become a nationwide problem. the dealership agreed to fix it under warranty. have been waiting almost a month for parts to come in, they are on backorder

Was going around 80 mph on the interstate this morning and came upon a bridge approach and when i hit the bridge approach i got the 'death wobble'. this happened as i was passing someone the only thing i could do is squeeze tight and slow down to pull over. the wobble would not stop until i was completely stopped. i currently have 10,959 miles on this truck. same thing happened at this same bridge approach in my 2013 f350.

Death wobble while traveling at interstate speeds you hit a small bump and the truck with go into an uncontrollable wobble and have to slow speeds down to 45 mph to correct itself, slamming on the brake (which is first reaction) makes it worse

At approximating 12161 miles on my truck, it is less than a year old , my f250 the vehicle exhibited (4-5 times) a violent oscillating or shaking of the entire truck when going over a bump in the pavement or over the expansion joint of a bridge. i have nearly lost control of the vehicle (4-5 times). my course of action is to take my foot off of the gas, slow down, safely pull to the shoulder of the road, slow down to 5mph, and then i can continue on. the shaking is so violent i thought the truck / i was going to flip over because of lack of steering.
