Problems with 2018 Ford F-250 SUSPENSION

On average, the 2018 Ford F-250 starts to “feel” problems with the SUSPENSION and its various aspects after 31 819 miles.

Recently reported SUSPENSION problems on 2018 Ford F-250

On 2 occasions driving at approximately 75 mph - after hitting a minor rough patch in the road the truck / steering / front end began violently vibrate. i thought the truck was coming apart. after stopping on the side of the interstate and expecting the vehicle i couldn't find anything wrong. i thought after the first occurrence that it must have been a fluke. after the second time i realized that something must be wrong so i started some research on the internet. i discovered hundreds / thousands of people complaining of the same thing . . . "death wobble." i testify this is a very real problem and these trucks are dangerous.

I just crossed over 15,500 miles and experienced the death wobble when going over a bridge. will call dealer monday. this needs to be a mandatory recall as the steering wheel is literally jerked out of my hand. i was going approximately 50 mph.

Whenever i drive at a high rate of speed (65mph+) and a slight bump or a bridge joint connection, it sends the truck into an uncontrollable shaking of the steering wheel causing loss of control. i bought this truck 3 days ago and am already experiencing the 'death wobble' problem. i am genuinely concerned for the safety of myself, family, and other motorists on the road.

Travling 60 mph .hit bump on a cruve ,steering wheel started shaking ,needed both hands on steering wheel to control truck .both feet on brake pedel .truck controled at 30 mph ! truck did not want to slow down

While driving at interstate speeds the front end started to shake violently and without any reason. the vehicle was hard to control and was forced to slow down rapidly to regain control. this was the first time i had ever heard of "death wobble" this was a scary event considering i had no idea this could ever happen

At approx. 65 mph, after hitting a small rough spot on the dry paved highway, the truck began vibrating excessively in the front end. i was driving straight and level in a place where i've routinely travelled for several months. i had to immediately apply the brakes to decelerate and stop the shimmy. fortunately traffic was mild at the time and nothing else happened. it happened at approx 24000 miles on the odometer and has reoccurred five times in the last two weeks in different locations at highway speeds. i have scheduled a service appt with the local ford dealer to try and figure out what's wrong. the service agent at the dealer referred to it as the 'death wobble'!

Traveling at highway speed and hit a pot hole in the roadway. experience the death wobble. vehicle began violently shaking and had to slow vehicle speed to under 50 mph to regain control of the vehicle. 1st time was on i 70 traveling at approximately 75 mph and the second was on highway 25 in kansas traveling at approximately 68 mph.

I am experiencing death wobble in my truck. the first time it happened was while driving at approximately 55 mph i hit a bump in the road. the wheels and front end shook violently causing me to run off the road. luckily i was in an area where there were no ditches or hazards. i took it to a ford dealership and they said i needed to replace the steering stabilizer or dampener. of course the new parts are backordered. i was 600 miles from home when this happened. i drove home yesterday going 55 or less the whole way because i was scared to death. i experienced the death wobble again traveling on the interstate going approximately 55 mph. i nearly got rear ended and caused an accident. i will be taking it to a local dealer tomorrow. the truck only has 33,000 miles on it.

While driving on a highway, in a straight line, at 64 mph, i drove over a rough bridge and my steering wheel began to violently shake. i immediately began slowing down but the shaking did not cease until i slowed to nearly 40 mph. 18 wheelers and other traffic were piling up behind me and it was very difficult to keep the truck on the road.

I have a 2018 ford f-250 super crew 4x4 with 26,000 miles on it. i bought it as a certified pre-owned vehicle with approx. 13,000 miles on it. within the last 30 days, i have experienced on 2 occasions a major shake in the front end. in both cases, i was driving on the interstate at highway speeds of 70-75 mph. the problem occurred when driving over a rough spot in the roadway. after the 2nd. occurrence, i took it to a ford dealership and they found tsb 19-2392 which outlines updated track bar and directs replacement. within 500 miles since the replacement, i experienced once again the same problem. i have since learned that this is referred too as a "death wobble". i have searched and found several articles under this term on this same vehicle. why hasn't this been addressed by the manufacturer by now? my work requires my ability to travel and i see no way how i can consciously consider myself a safe driver to others on busy roadways out there while driving near me should this occur again.

Truck has a death wobble ... steering wheel shakes to the point of being uncontrollable. happens when hitting a bump or ruff spot in road, train tracks, bumps on bridges. can see where losing control would be very easy . god help if you had a loaded trailer hooked to it...

At freeway speeds my truck has started shaking violently from the front end of the truck. it has now done this to me 5 times. i have found out this is known as the ford death wobble.

At speeds of 65mph and above, when hitting bumps in the road the vehicle begins to shake uncontrollably until you slow down to around 25mph or even stop completely. when this is happening, the steering wheel shakes so much that it is hard to hold on and bring the vehicle to a stop. it is very dangerous when traveling on an interstate and this begins to happen, as you are required to reduce your speed significantly which could absolutely cause a wreck as your trying to make it over to the shoulder safely. this has happened multiple times and is a complete surprise as to when it is going to happen. i now know what it is like to have the death wobble in the front end as i truly fear for my life when it happens. i have not been able to get video of the death wobble occurring, as i haven't had a second person with me when it has happened. even when traveling at lower speeds (35mph-55mph) and going across bumps in the road, i still experience a wobble in the steering wheel however it does not go into the death wobble scenario where the whole truck begins to shake. i am however fearful that someday it will begin to start the death wobble at these lower speeds.

Driving straight on highway 95 in arizona, at 70 with cruise control set. clear day, no adverse weather or road conditions. tires equally pressurized at factory settings of 59 front and 55 rear and a completely stock suspension and tire package. out of nowhere, steering wheel begins to shake violently and the truck is swerving from one lane to the other. i had to slow to nearly 30 to regain control of the vehicle. this would have caused a head on collision under the right circumstances. 2018 f-250 with less than 30k miles.

I was accelerating on an on-ramp and at about 60mph on slightly rough pavement the truck front suspension and steering started oscillating and became very violent. i was merging in traffic but was forced to slow down quickly to keep the truck under control. the oscillations calmed at around 40mph. fortunately the other vehicles managed to avoid me. could have been an accident. on the way home after merging onto i81, i went over a bump on a bridge and the oscillations started again. traffic was light so i could slow down quickly. at about 45mph the oscillations stopped. i drove home slowly and parked the truck as it is not safe to drive at normal speeds. the vehicle only has 26k miles, has regular dealership service, properly inflated tires and this just came out of nowhere.

I was driving on the freeway pulling my 23 foot enclosed snowmobile trailer with two snowmobiles inside. i hit a bump in the road and my steering wheel started to shake very violently. i was traveling 70 mph when this happened. my truck continued to shake violently causing me to swerve on the freeway until i slowed down to 50 mph. this was not the first time it has happened. i have experienced this violent shaking when pulling a trailer or not pulling a trailer down the freeway. my truck has under 47,000 miles on it.

Uncontrolled severe vibration and violent shaking of entire vehicle. seems to be initiated by uneven spots in pavement at speeds above 40-50 mph or so. otherwise known as the "super duty wobble", a well known and documented issue since the introduction of the super duty line of ford pickup trucks in approximately 1998 or 1999. i have previously owned 1999 and 2006 f-350 super duty pickup trucks which experienced the same problems. i have the repair receipts and nhtsa safety notices for both vehicles. i find it astonishing and extremely disappointing that in over 20 years ford has not been able to successfully diagnosis and rectify this problem. i am currently awaiting a service appointment (pending parts arrival) to correct this. i obviously hope ford will fix this, but am quite skeptical. my current vehicle (2018 f250) had only 25,000 miles on it when this problem started occuring. i would appreciate your response on this. i find it unacceptable that ford has continued to sweep this under the rug, and am surprised that there has not been some type of recall on this considering it has been a known issue for over 20 years. the violent shaking and vibration is so bad that it could lead to loss of control of the vehicle with catastrophic results possible. thank-you for your consideration of this.

Purchased vehicle in 06/2018. contacted spike's ford around 11/25/2019. advised service department that vehicle would go into a death wobble every time it hit a bump as i was driving on the highway. the truck would shake and bounce uncontrollably. it could only be stopped by braking to bring down the speed. this could cause a injury or death to myself or others on the road. there are defects in the steering damper. they finally called me on 01/27/2020 to have it repaired because they did not have the part in stock, and were backlogged with service for the same reason on other customers.

While traveling on i-74 at 70mph we hit a road expansion joint (slight bump) on a bridge and the truck began to shake and wobble to the point i almost lost control and hit the bridge railing, i hit my brakes to try and control the vehicle when i was almost hit by a semi truck. i pulled off the interstate and stopped. i could find nothing wrong and continued on and again when i was doing 65mph i almost lost control of the truck when we hit another expansion. it shook so bad it almost pulled the steering wheel out of my hands. i got off to the side again almost causing a traffic crash. i fully stopped and then slowly drove off of the interstate and drove home on a secondary road and it was fine until i was on indiana 63 / us 41 i got the truck to 60 mph and it again shook violently when we hit a slight bump of an expansion joint. i am taking it to the shop tomorrow morning. i never knew this was a problem u til i looked this up on google. how can ford continue to sell these trucks with a know safety defect and nhtsa does nothing to warn us.

When driving at speeds of more than about 30 mph, and hit a bump, the trucks steering starts to shake violently. it is very difficult to maintain your lane when this is happening. in addition the brakes have to be applied rather rapidly to stop the wheels from shaking. the truck has 22,000 miles on it with no modifications.

1st incident 2/10/2019, when the vehicle hit a bump in road the truck steering would shake and cause vehicle to bounce to the right uncontrollable, vehicle in shop 2/12/19 to replace steering strut. vehicle mileage 10,699 on 11/15/2019 a trip from md to ky, travel approximately 72 mph and about 5 hours in trip, the vehicle hit a small bump in road on highway 79, the vehicle front began to shake violently and pull the truck to the right uncontrollable. i manage to maintain control and slow vehicle down at approximately 10 mph on the should the shaking stopped. contact dealer the same day and have an appointment on 12/2/19 to review. the vehicle steering shake when driving at speeds about 40 mph and will began shaking again when hitting a bump in road. vehicle mileage is 25210.

I was going down the road at 75 mph and went over a bridge hitting a small bump and the truck started to shake violently like a tire had blown out or something. i slowed down and it stopped. it happened two more times not quite as hard but makes the truck hard to control. i got on line and seen several people had the same problem with the f-250 trucks. this condition was called the "death wobble" . ford needs to recall these trucks.

At 12pm 11/14/2019, my truck began to shake violently at 70 mph after hitting a bump at a bridge junction. scared me badly and i immediately decelerated and the violent shaking stopped at about 40 mph. i didn't know if i blew a tire, hit something, the engine was about to fall out of the truck or what! i did some research online and found that my truck had what is known as the "death wobble". today the exact same death wobble issue occurred at the exact same place in the road. i have a call in to the dealership to determine how this can be repaired. my truck is only at 39k miles and was purchased brand new in jan 2018.

Death wobble. outside temp 49 degrees fahrenheit - seems to happen most when its cold outside. driving 65 mph and front driver's wheel hit a couple of pot holes. entire vehicle starts to wobble side to side. had to pull over and slow down to get it to ease up, and then sometimes can get it to stop if i accelerate immediately after the slow down. after it happened the third time, we had a mechanic change the ball joint, balance and rotated the tires, then do an alignment. both times that we have taken it to the dealership, they have claimed there is nothing wrong. understand that they need to be in the vehicle when it happens, but looking over the complaints on this model so far, over half of the complaints are the same thing - some are listed under suspension, and some are listed under tires. there is obviously something going on here and i'm appalled that there's not been a recall.

Driving down interstate and hit a slight variation in roadway and caused the truck to go into what is known as the death wobble. i had my 7 in half month pregnant wife and 4 year old child in the truck when it happened. i nearly lost control and overturned the truck into two tractor trailers. i managed to hold onto the steering with wheel with my life and drive off the interstate into the grass median at interstate speeds, forcing the truck to come to a stop. the truck is a serious safety issue and nearly cost me my families lives.

At around 65 mph i hit a small bump on the highway and the steering wheel and front wheels began to shake and wobble uncontrollably.

I'm am reporting the famous death wobble. when i talked to my for rep he said it was a known problem but ford has not done anything to fix it. this happened at 55 mph and was so extreme i thought my vehicle's wheels were going to fall off. fortunately i was able to get off the road safely but this is a huge problem that is all i've got forums. please help ford fix this problem.

This submission is the second notice of "death wobble' on my 2018 ford f-250 truck. the truck had less then 14,000 miles on it. it occurred on november 9, 2019. i was merging into traffic on an interstate highway at about 65-70 mph and crossed a bridge joint which caused the front wheels and steering wheel to shake violently. i slowed the vehicle and was almost rear-ended by a 18 wheel semi-truck that couldn't maneuver as it was being passed by a second truck on one side and another merging car on the other. i knew what the had caused the issue as this was the second occurrence in one year. i contacted the ford dealership on november 11th, 2019. they indicated they are aware of the dampener problem. i had them inspect the truck on november 16th at which time they ordered the parts to repair it. the same wobble occurred on november 15th while my wife was driving on a ramp from one expressway to another moving at approximately 55 mph. i returned to the dealership on 11/29/19 and they still didn't have the part. two weeks later they notified me that they had the part. it was repaired on 12/16/19. they replaced the steering damper assembly, part no. spo hc3z 3e651 f. they indicated the dampener is part of tsb 19-2274 and due to large number of vehicles with the same issue, the part is hard to obtain. my wife is now leery about driving the vehicle.

While driving at a speed of approximately 70mph heading into a left curve turn on the expressway the truck began to shake violently. this occurred with no warning and would not stop until i slowed to 30mph. it was difficult to maintain control. the truck has 28000 miles on it and all stock.

I hit a rough patch of road at 55 mph on a 2 lane and the steering wheel was jerked out of my hands and the truck violently started shaking and bouncing veering into oncoming traffic pulling left towards a semi. i hit the brakes and turned the wheel to the right as hard as i could only turning right slightly enough to miss the truck. i pulled over and inspected the wheels and everything looked fine. i drove away cautiously and you couldn't tell anything ever happened. called dealer he said oh yea death wobble. nice to know they already know about it. an older or weaker person would be dead along with on coming driver/passengers. scared to drive my $70k truck!!

While driving on the interstate running 68 mph i crossed a straight bridge and encountered a severe vibration/loss of control coming from my front suspension. after hitting a slight bump at the beginning of the bridge the vibration was so severe and would not stop until i slowed the truck to 20mph. i was forced to use both lanes to slow the truck down without wrecking. this seems to be a common condition that some people refer to as the 'death wobble'. vehicle has 30k miles and was purchased new by me and has never been wrecked. suspension and tires are 100% stock.

While traveling around 45 to 50 mph on a two lane road going around a slight curve to the left the truck hit a rough patch in the road and the front wheels started oscillating up and down causing me to lose any control of the steering wheel. i could barely hold on to the steering wheel because it was shaking so violently until i had slowed almost to a stop. i then pulled off the road and examined the front end of the truck and did not find anything out of the ordinary nothing was broke or lose that i could find. the incident was very unnerving and i now am very apprehensive and do not trust this vehicle.

A residual vibration after hitting a bump started in feb 2019 at 8.6k miles. dealership replaced damper assembly. all good for a while then vibration with hitting a bump started again in oct 2019 at 25k miles. on 11/2/19 at 26k miles at 70 mph experienced severe/violent shaking in the steering wheel and had to slam on brakes to stop it and bring truck under control. the ford dealership replaced the damper assembly again and the stabilizer bar. still had the residual vibration after a bump, took back in to dealership on 12/4/19 and they could not 'duplicate customer concern'. on 12/11/19 and 12/16/19 at highway speeds on i-87 between albany and glens falls, ny, i again experienced severe and violet vibration/shaking in the steering wheel. i had a difficult time keeping the truck in the lane i was traveling in and again had to immediately brake hard in heavy traffic to bring the truck back under control. brought to a different dealership and now being told that despite 1/2 the tread life remaining on the tires that ford is recommending replacing the tires and that an alignment is needed. this dealership is refusing to do alignment unless we replace all 4 tires. at this time the truck has 27k miles on it. i cannot understand how ford can continue to deny this is a major safety issue with their trucks with all of evidence supporting otherwise.

Truck has 16,000 miles on it. purchased new from dealer. within 1,000 miles experienced random front end shake, was occasional on rough road. recently it occurred in one weekend 6 times. all on different interstate roads between pennsylvania and new jersey. shook so hard and violently both fog lights cracked on the truck including one of the fog light mounts. happens on any road. happens any speed above 45mph. concrete roads are the worst and bridge joints. truck now looses grip when driving over bumps. feels like on ice. ciocca ford will not warranty broken parts such as fog lights and one mount. they will not correct alignment issue due to steering stability issue aka death wobble. truck now pulls to the right. truck does not feel safe to drive with my children in it, especially in the snow season knowing any bump could set it off. i have tried all different air pressures still get death wobble. still breaks truck traction on bumps. this wobble occurs even on secondary roads. the wobble causes steering wheel to shake back and forth 3-4 inches. the entire front of the truck vibrates and shakes. the wobble won't stop until speed is dropped below 35mph. this shake will cause loss of steering and control in any weather condition. when it occurs you have all you can do to hold the steering wheel, there is no turning ability when this occurs. the steering stabilizer is often quoted as the issue for this. i believe from my experience and research the shocks are also not adequate from the loss of traction steering. steering linkage is also weak. ford has a reengineered solution, however unknown availability. this truck is now a safety hazard to myself and others, and ciocca ford is not offering a solution for the safety concern.

Ford f250 lariat 2018 has death wobble at highway speeds between 50 and 80 mph very unsafe scares the bjesus out of me n my family bought it to pull a trailer behind it . donot want do do that in fear of someone getting severly injuried or worse!! its been to ford dealership they want to put a bandage on it for $800.00 with no guarantee to fix the problem!! they taught their employees well deny deny deny. what a waste of 48,000 dollars (shame on ford ) bought on november 2 2019

Starting at about 20,000 miles my f250 platinum super duty started doing an extreme 'death wobble' while driving 70 miles an hour on the freeway. dealer said it was a steering stabilizer. problem still exists. they tried to state it was the lane assist which has been turned off since we got the truck. now after a couple months with this problem even when we are doing 30-50 on normal streets and hit and bump the front end begins to shake violently. this is now needing to return to dealer again to see what else they say is the issue

Was driving down hwy about 70 mph when i hit a bump and the pickup began to shake so bad i thought i was going to roll it. it is was as known as the death wobble. every time i hit a bump it happens. it has happened many times driving on a normal hwy. it also happens when you hit the breaks. took it to my dealership and they said they fixed it. picked it up and went about 20 miles and it happened again. ford dealership is saying they fixed it. but it is not!!! i printed off what i found on internet to fix it and a list of parts but they did not do any of what the paper said.

On 7 occasions my 2018 f250 has had severe death wobble. as low as 40mph up to 75 mph it has only 32000 miles when this first occurred it has been to the ford dealer 4x for this issue and they have done their so called repairs and it still does it

I only have 9500 miles on my f250 and have had the death wobble twice after hitting small bump in the road. how long before it kills someone. make ford recall the darn things! was doing 70mph and almost had a wreck.

Hit very small bump on the highway and went into an extremely violent shaking and off-balance feeling pulled over to the side of the road that i had a flat tire went down the road and it happened again both instances happened at speeds between 55 and 70 mph

I started looking into this issue to see if others have had it. it's called, the "death wobble". the ford dealership knows about it but doesn't have a fix for it. it has been taken in and no repairs are needed. how come it's still happening?!?! they need to have a fix for this issue. i don't want to crash because the truck is wobbling so much! i think with the amount we paid for the truck this shouldn't be a concern but it is!!

Excessive wheel hop when driving 55 mph

I was driving 70 mph and hit a bump on the highway. the pickup started shaking and it took me on to the shoulder until i was able to get it back under control. it didn't stop shaking until i slowed down to around 20mph.

Vehicle was already "fixed" for what is termed "death wobble" last year. while driving last night, we experienced the whole truck shaking uncontrollably on two different occasions. once on a township road going 45 and once on the interstate doing 65. both involved uncontrollable shaking of the suspension and inability to have complete control of the truck. this happened again this morning while driving to work. this happened, as before, when the truck hits a bump in the road. the incident on the interstate caused the need to slow down from 65 to 20 mph in order to regain control of the viehicle and stop the shaking (death wobble).

While driving, a bump to the suspension causes the suspension/ to bounce or death wobble (as we have seen in the jeep world). this has occurred/ multiple times at speeds from 45-70mph. several times at highway speeds have caused the truck to change directions. the most current event occurred yesterday (9-25-2019) and required me to slow the vehicle to under 10mph to recover. the shaking was violent enough to open the glove box. i have had 5 of these occurrence so far in ownership of this vehicle which was purchased new 14 months ago. the vehicle is completely oem including wheels and tires. nothing has been added. i cant use the vehicle as intended (towing) as i'm concerned of loosing control of the vehicle under those circumstances.

I have experienced violent shaking and extreme vibration resonating from the front wheels and steering components of my ford f250 super duty truck while driving. i understand this to be referred to as the 'death wobble' and for very good reason. i have 37 years of law enforcement experience, and i can assure you this issue left unchecked will be the root cause many traffic deaths past, present and future. it's occurred five times with me to date within 18 months all five causing total loss of steering control, and the last two causing me to cross center divide of the roadway and into oncoming traffic. i narrowly avoided a head on collision with an 18 wheeler in one of those incidents. i've had the vehicle checked by dealerships and independent shops. i've spent thousands of dollars on repairs and parts. ford needs to offer a solution now before any else is put in harms way.. or dies.

Ford f250 death wobble. vehicle shudders violently for no reason and you have to come to a complete stop to stop violent shaking.https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t67905_ds972988 https://www.classaction.org/news/ford-hit-with-death-wobble-class-action-over-alleged-suspension-steering-defects-in-f-250-f-350-models. most recent occurance a week ago 50mph happened out of nowhere scared grandson real bad. me too
