Brakes first was having problems at approx 15,000 miles the rotors had went out. fallon ford supposely turned the rotors and put new pads on. at approx. 28,000 miles lithia turned the rotors and put new pads on, stating that fallon never did that, then later on the brakes still acting up pulling right. lithia put on a new master cylinder, lithia also had the alighment problem so they had shimms put in. lithia relplaced the electronic cluster twice. when taken in a gain for chattering lithia said there was nothing wrong with the brakes, they also said because it was out of warranty they would not work on it with out being paid. jones west ford reviewed all of the paper work and seeing that it met the lemon law they refused to work on it. letter was written to the ceo of ford, who said they could not do anything because the trunk is used for business. the district rep that came to lithia said they could not replace the truck because lithia was not a ford/truck dealer ship that the truck should be replaced, litha since has refused to work on the truck, fallon refuses to replace the truck. now the brakes have completely failed. we took it in to a goodyear shop who said when we had the electrical failure the abs box and the porportioning valve should have been replace and is what probably was what caused this problem. *ak

When braking hard and trying to turn/steer as in accident prevention and evasive maneuvering, the steering will lock momentarily. it is a hard situation to duplicate since it is a reactionary action and is adrenaline powered, but it can be simulated with the engine on and the vehicle in park. ?dealer insists this is a normal condition and there is nothing to fix!!! this has occured twice within the month of may and both incidents resulted in near collisions.*ak

Vehicle shudders violently upon applying brakes. dealer informs that rotors are warped. this is second repair for this problem in 8000 miles. dealer/manufacturer insinuates driver error. experienced driver-no error. ford denies responsibility for further repairs.*ak

We first had the front brakes pull right we had the truck in 2-3 times for that problem they finally fixed it. but now the brakes pull left. they do not know how to fix the problem. the engine/electrial problem. all of the sudden everything electical quits working. i didn't know how to classify this problem. they replace a module and it still happens. we are awaiting for them to fix again. on the tires one blew out in the middle of the night on a very dark road 1 mile from the house my husbad drove it home took it in the next day and the refused to fix because he drove on it. approx a month later we were on a road driving only approx 45 mph. my husband felt something when we were at a light,we pulled in to a store just passed the light got out and the back right tire had blown. we changed the tire took it in and they said they are not on a recall even through they clearly had the white ring all around the tire where it had come apart. we replaced the tires with cooper tires. we still have the tires. goodyear inspected and agreed it was due to poor manufacturing. on the warranty problems we contacted the manufacture arbitration board. they stated since we use the truck for business we can not have the truck replaced. no where in any of my documentation states that. if this were so we would not have bought the truck. the dealership knew we used the truck for business. the business consist of a handyman business. the most we do to the truck is put on miles.*ak (dot number: vnw81xl tiresize: 265 75r16)

After waiting for a steering gear box to arrive at the local ford dealership for several weeks, my truck was returned to me. several days later, i had to hit the brakes rather hard to avoid running over a bottle ion the road. as i hit the brakes, i tried to turn to go around the bottle. i noticed that steering the truck is extremely difficult when there is pressure on the brakes. when i removed my foot from the brake pedal, normal steering returned. as i was treated poorly (to say the least ) by the local ford dealership, i returned to the dealership where i purchased the vehicle. this involved a 120 mile round-trip drive. the vehicle was returned to me today. when i got the truck back, the service madvisor, jack dugan, told me that this is "a characteristic of the truck" and that they could do nothing about it. he added that if i didn't like the way it handled, contact ford. my response is, with all of the press about the f-250, (thanks to nhtsa) why do ford marketing representatives deny the existence of the problem. apparently, mike vaughn, of ford motor co., spoke with nhtsa and said that ford is cooperating with the investigation. also, if i remember correctly from driver's education, in the event of a skid, you should steer in the direction of the skid. this is impossible to do with this truck. i can foresee many accidents due to this system. according to jack dugan, the brakes and steering use the same power booster. i tow a 23' travel trailer that weighs about 5,000 lbs. i am afraid to tow the trailer because of this situation. this has put quite a damper on our summer activities. can you tell me how the investigation is going and what i should do about the problem? i like the truck overall, but cannot believe the run-around i get from ford and casa ford in el paso. borman auto plex has treated me very well throughout this dilema. please keep up the good work. i gave a copy of the nhtsa printout to jack dugan at borman auto plex.

Vehicle was taken to dealership on 11 different occasions due to brake failure. brakes were weak and would not work when vehicle would hit a bump or run at a fast pace. dealer had unhooked the anti-lock brakes system, and the brakes are now working fine. dealer had advised consumer that this defect was a problem to super duty trucks . manufacturer is aware, and has no remedy, but to disconnect the antilock brake system. *ak

Was driving and applied the brakes, pedal started to chatter. stopping distance was diminished. took to dealership and was informed that rotors were warped. was not under warranty for repairs. electrical crossed wires in alternator system were smoldering. it was repaired. front end would make clunking noise while turning. nothing was found. *ak

Whenever braking vehicle will pull to right or sometimes to left. *ak consumer states several dealers have attempted to fix problem, however problem still exists. *slc

When braking steering wheel vibrated /pulsated, vehicle becames unstable, felt like it was floating. vehicle has been taken to dealer 4 times. pad and shoes/ lining were replaced, and rotors resurfaced. did not remedy the problem.

When at a stop not able to turn wheels while brakes are applied. ford company indicated that this was the way vehicle was designed. *ak the design flaw is the cause for steering problem that occurs when brakes are applied. a new wider stance, tie rod angle and the fact that there is more weight in the front end than on the 97 older body style vehicle. *yh

Will not steer when hard or emergency braking, or at stand still, ford states it is normal operating condition and no repair action. special service messages 12995. this is dangerous and something should be done about repairs, the complaint is wide spread. if one is towing a trailer, downhill and needs to slow or stop there will be on steering, or a hard braking at a turn.
