Tl* the contact owns a 2000 ford f-250. while parked, the contact noticed smoke coming from under the hood. after opening the hood the contact noticed flames. the fire was extinguished and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the technicians stated that there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 06v286000 (vehicle speed control) that could possibly have been related to the failure. the vehicle was included in the recall but was not repaired prior to the fire. the technician stated that the recall repair would be performed but the other damages that resulted from the fire would not be covered. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 185,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 ford f250. the contact stated the vehicle caught fire while parked and the fire spread to the cab and tires. the fire department stated that the fire originated under the hood. the contact planned to speak with the manufacturer. the current and failure mileages were approximately 207,000. updated 07/28/10. *lj according to the investigator, the fir originated within the left or drivers side rear of the engine compartment, in the immediate area of the master cylinder and brake fluid reservoir. the fire was being classified as electrical in nature. it was noted that the speed control deactivation switch was located within the area and has been recalled. 10/14/10*jb

While vehicle was parked for about 4 hours it suddenly caught on fire. the fire department notified the owner that vehicle was on fire , and that it spread to two other vehicles. owner notified the manufacturer, who said they would send out an investigator to evaluate the situation. as of today, the manufacturer had done nothing. *ak

2000 ford f-250 having cruise control problems was parked with engine off when fire ignited and burned resulting in total loss of truck. fire dept. report states fire originated in engine compartment and was electrical. truck sold for junk metal prior to announcement of 2000 ford f-150 truck and other recall for defective cruise control resulting in fire. ford declines assistance since they do not have vehicle to examine inspite of reports and witnesses to the event.*ak

Driving 50mph w/cruise on. 2000 excursion accelerated alarmingly.kicked acceleratorl, bought under control.no harm.did not use cruise for awhile! and asked several friends if they knew why it would do that..had forgotten incident until saw on 8 news here in dallas tonight. i did not buy new, it was from little rock,ar,with 70k miles and was driven over rough dusty roads .

While driving up hill cruise control engaged, and rear wheels began to spin out. truck suddenly started accelerating, and the cruise control would not disengage. dealer has been contacted. *ak both the rear wheels were spinning as the vehicle slid into a ditch. *yh
