this is a continuation with complaint number 11307725 already filed. ford f-150 2018 super crew cab 2nd discovery of water leak in cab of truck with wet carpet padding and carpets again only this time the water leak was behind the back seats down the cab wall interior. called our ford dealership back and took our truck back in for them to assess this 2nd water leak. our ford dealership advised that they had to remove the truck bed to find this water leak coming in from the rear cab vents and locking tabs on vents. they also found the carpet insulator was behind the rear vents which caused the vent seal to warp and leak. they had to replace the rear vents completely then they retested for leaks and found no leaks at that time. they also replaced the truck bed bolts and had to respray in the bed liner over the bolts.
Door latch freezing, unable to close once opened. door appeared to be closed but swings open when driving and turning a corner. has happened at least 4 times in last 2 months
Seems like emergency brake is trying to engage
Ford currently has an issue with door latches not latching shut. i've had my rear passenger door come open while driving down the road with my daughter sitting there scared to death. this is unacceptable. i've had my truck in service at the dealership for the recall fix and the same problem still exists i have had it back to the dealership three times now and it still is not corrected. does someone have to get seriously injured or killed before someone forced ford to do something about this unbelievable problem that is getting swept under the rug?
I bought this car from the dealer knowing it was involved in a car crashed but still is a clean title i hoped the body damage was repaired today i found out there's body or frame damage behing the door when i open or close it it makes a noise like an old rusty car,it was stationary when i opened it and saw the damage
Ford f-150 2018 super crew cab 1st water leak inside of our truck cab created a mildew smell due to wet carpet padding and carpets. water saturated electrical wiring under the door seal protectors on the right-side of the front and rear doors. first noticed a problem driving and applying the brakes we heard a water sloshing sound on the right side of the truck. indications of water in cab and saturated carpet's and wiring went unnoticed due to weather tech full floor mats. we contacted ford corporation online and they advised for us to take it into our dealership to be assessed. our dealership made an appointment a week out, so our truck sat in our garage for an additional week. we used a shop vac and sucked out as much water as we could and left the door windows down to help dry out the interior. the dealership removed and reinstalled the trim panels with silicone sealant on both doors on the right side.
The 10 speed transmission in this truck does not shift right. it shifts very hard sometimes not shifting at all. it shifts hard enough to cause whiplash. also the doors when it is cold out do not latch causing the door to remain open. my child almost fell out of my vehicle luckily she had her seat belt on
The front dashboard warped up in front and on the passenger side over the airbag. it was reported to the dealership , ford redd mccombs. ford company approved to replace the dash. it was replaced after 5 months waiting. and no uncertainty of safety of dashboard over the passenger airbag ,possibly deplying or exploding. the second dash replacement has warped in the same areas and more. the areas over the passenger air bag, as well as the driver side on front dashboard. the company as well as the dealership have no explanation as to why the dashboards are warping . i have seen and photographed many other trucks with same make and model and the suffer the same problem. if a person is not looking for the problem ,they will never see it until it gets worse and the warrenty has expired and they are probably thinking its the texas heat and sun. but this is a true vehicle hazard and will continue to be addressed further if you all don't wish to help or guide me into the right direction. iys a flaw in the design and its in all f150 trucks from 2017 to 2020. i have seen the flaw in the 2020 model at the car show that was held in san antonio tx, back in november ,2019.
Pulled into parking spot. put truck in park. left vehicle and went into store. truck rolled backward and crashed into another vehicle. when we looked in the truck, it was still in park. took to ford and they inspected it and said everything was fine and that the pin was working. a friend had same thing happen. i believe there is a problem with the truck and had they inspected it on the spot, they may have discovered a problem. since we drove truck after accident, it probably looked fine when they inspected it. there have been similar problems with f-150 but mine was not part of a recall.
While my 2018 ford f150 was parked under my carport in 73 degrees weather in the shade i opened my truck door an closed my truck door an the rear window shattered in a million piece's ford will not cover the cost my truck has 9000 miles on it i see that hundred's of people have had the same thing happen to them.
The key in the ignition alarm was constatntly sounding after the truck was shut off, after the key was removed. the dealer said it was a short in the ignition switch. this is a new 2018 truck what the heck is going on with ford?
The problem is with the latch on the tailgate. the tailgate opens randomly while driving. this can occur when the tailgate is unlocked and also when it is locked. it is more likely to occur when going over a bump. i use my vehicle for work purposed and so i haul equipment and supplies. i have spoken with bill pierre ford in seattle wa about the problem and have been told that they are aware of the problem but that ford has not provided a fix and so they are not able to fix it. the danger and liability is significant and will cause accidents and deaths if it is not addressed immediately. i am putting a date below, but please be aware that this has occurred repeatedly. while i am currently using a bungee cords to make sure that nothing falls out (the cord prevents the gate from falling open) when the tailgate randomly releases, it would certainly put the lives of others at risk on daily basis.
Parked in a gas station parking spot. i put the truck into park and left the vehicle on for the family. i took one of my children into the store. my wife opens her passenger door and stepped out to pick up a little mess. while in park the truck moved forward a bit and started to roll back. somehow the truck was in park or showed it was in park (it didnt move when i let off the brake prior to getting out or as i got out of the truck). after struggling from outside of the passenger side and the truck rolling back about 50 feet, my wife managed to get the shifter into park (again). the passenger door hit a concrete post and opened the door beyond what the hinges allow
With 2018 f-150 10 speed transmission is shifting hard an down shifts hard getting whiplash. downstairs too hard been at the dealership today is the second time they constantly act like there's nothing wrong with the vehicle av to reset it once before still having major problems with that new transmission. so basically in inner-city driving is somebody was to jump in front of the vehicle with downshift quickly giving driver or any passengers whiplash stop the vehicle not a very safe or practical build can cause accidents and give major problems if anybody has bad backs or necks was not disclosed at time of sale of a hard shifting transmissions
My door latches/locks seem to be freezing. my rear passenger door will not latch closed and my driver door will not unlock.
The key fob for our new f150 has broken already. it was only 2 months old and the metal part that holds the key ring came off. this shouldn't have happened after only 2 months. the service department says it is normal wear and tear and will not repair or replace. if the fob falls off the key ring because it was not glues on properly, you can lose your key. worse, someone could find it, press the lock or panic button to find your car and then steal your car. i think it is a safety issue and compromises the security of the car. it also leaves you without a key if it falls off. if you do manage to see it happen, then you are stuck with a broken fob after owning your new car for only 2 months. one other note on the wear and tear. it was sold new but had about 2000 miles already on it. so, the wear and tear could have occurred while the dealer had possession.
Door latch, the driver side door was not closing when i first got the truck. this is not a new issue. this was supposed to have been fixed last april at the factory, but obviously it was not. i have had the truck looked at 3 times for this issue. it may be fixed now, maybe not. how can ford not have recalls and a fix for this and still be allowed to sell these vehicles? i have had to drive my truck to the dealership going down the freeway holding the door shut. i have been in contact with ford motor company, they don't seem to care of whole lot. last week it was in the shop more than i had the vehicle.
This is a well known issue. when it is cold the doors may or may not latch. you have to drive your vehicle holding the door. i had to take it to a dealer several times holding my door closed going down the freeway.
When vehicle is in motion all safety warning indicators lights come which causes vehicle to lose power. and will not allow vehicle to accelerate. as a result, the vehicle is susceptible to getting hit which has been the case. in addition, this also causes the auto stop feature to not work which allows the vehicle to shut off when stopped at traffic lights and stop signs. this occurs two to three daily.
Entire rear view window shattered for no reason, while parked in a parking lot.
Two complaints: 1- door locks still freezing after being at the dealer for a recall to fix them. fix did not work. 2- poor design on both side door mirrors. the small wide angle inset mirrors are set in too deep and angled improperly, that when adjusting the larger mirrors the view of the insets negates their purpose and causes a blind side area at a critical in the left passing lane witch is missed by both mirrors. i,ve tried repositioning them to alleviate this problem to no avail. this is a safety problem. several close call accidents have been experienced.( mirrors were clean and unobstructed). also they have virtually no overhang on the top and therefore are susceptible to snow ice and rain. suggest increasing the top overhang area somewhat. the above is meant to be helpful observations to aid ford design and customer satisfaction and safety. thank you for this opportunity to inform you of these matters. Super low temperatures hit our area around 17 degrees and the locks freeze to the point to where i can open the door but the actuators won't return to the lock position and i have to thaw the lock otherwise the door will not close and am unable to use the vehicle
On 2 different occasions the front drivers side door latch on my truck has stuck open and would not allow me to latch the door closed. i have had to drive home both times holding the door shut with my left arm and one hand steering the wheel. when going around turns i had to slow way down because the door weight multiplied with force and got very heavy and hard to stop from flying open..i dont know if the other latches on my truck would have stuck open as i was to afraid to try it and not be able to get them properly latched shut. after doing research online this is a huge wide spread problem with front and rear doors on 2015-2018 f150's and fords fix is to smear some grease and oil on it and put a cover over the latch has not been a successful fix on any of the vehicles they have done. it is in no doubt a safety issue. if the vehicle was to roll over in an accident and the door wasnt latched it would surely be crushed and possibly come back into the cab injuring a driver or ripped of exposing the driver and or passengers to hazards outside the vehicle. will the truck fair the same in a head on crash or front overlap crash as tested? i strongly urge whomever to take the time to investigate this issue and make ford fix this issue.. it is very dangerous and they are not taking it seriously.
I have a 2018 ford f-150. my doors will not latch closed at all when it freezes outside after it has rained or moisture was in the air (frost). i have had to drive to work holding it closed, not latched, multiple times. i have taken it to a ford dealership and the say there is nothing they can do each time. there are no recalls out for this model year. i had a 2016 f-150 that had the same issue and a recall was issued for it. ford calmed they fixed the problem. this is very dangerous and if i get in a wreck it could be fatal. i do not feel safe driving this truck anymore and there is nothing i can do to fix it. i have multiple videos of this issue as well.
While running defroster, both front and back, cabin filled with acrid smoke. pulled over onto shoulder of tertiary road to investigate for fire. while parked, i heard an extremely loud "crack" and the rear window had spontaneously shattered.
Door latches not latching when trying to close door.
I bought a new f-150 last august from the ford dealer in ashboro, nc. with below freezing weather the driver side door will not latch. the dealer has been contacted through a message on his website but has not responded. the last f-150 i owned did not have this problem and neither did a couple e-150 vans before that. i did have a similar problem with a ford mustang back in the 70's but found that i could push down the door lock before slamming the door. the lock would then pop up and the door would latch. this technique did not work with the new f-150. i think this creates a dangerous situation, i.e. holding the driver side door shut since it wants to fly open during right turns. you would think that ford would at least include a hook on the inside of the door so you could loop the seat belt through it to keep the door closed in cold weather.
Frozen door latch been in twice not fixed door opens when moving i believe it is safety issue
We bought the new truck with 55 miles on the odometer on saturday, january 12. today, monday, january 14, we were standing beside the vehicle when it caught on fire and burned completely. the vehicle was stationary on the side of a highway where we had just loaded a trailer.
During some starts engine will produce a smell. looking underneath vehicle, i've noticed 2 leaks coming from the exhaust system.
Holes in the muffler and resonator to drain water also leak large amounts of carbon monoxide and makes the passengers sick here is a video that i made and uploded to you tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oi5ri0sa5l4
Door latch froze again on driver's side and popped open. unable to close the door. vehicle in motion. had to hold closed again while driving.
Driver's side door latch froze open and i could not close door again. stationary in home driveway.
The door latches on all (4) doors become inoperable when temps drop below 32 degrees. this has resulted in not being able to enter or exit the vehicle and have doors pop open on their own after being shut. this is a very dangerous problem that could result being stuck inside the vehicle and/or possibly having someone fall out of the vehicle if door were to pop open unexpectedly.
While driving over a railroad crossing, my truck died. the screen on the dash stated there was an error with the auto start/ stop feature. i had to put my truck in park to restart it while still on the train tracks. i had the auto start/ stop deactivated at the time via the button above the sync 3 screen.
Door latch in cold weather freezes and will not function. also latch pops open while driving.
There is an abnormal engine "rattle" noise when decelerating (letting off throttle) between 1000 and 2000 rpms. this has been a frequent complaint from 2018 ford f-150 owners with v8 5.0l engines. responses from f150 owners on various forums all indicate various explanations from ford as to the cause from normal engine characteristics, replacing cam phasers, replacing solenoids, and buybacks. a tsb was released in november 2018 with no known cases on any related forums of the tsb correcting the abnormal engine rattle noise. i have hjad the tsb performed and the noise was continued to be present. the concern from myself and other owners is the unknown long term effects on the engine performance and/or life and a continued lack of response from ford as to the cause or release of any fixes. the issue has been present since 1 week after purchasing the truck on november 21, 2018.
Daughter drove the vehicle home, parked it, and turned off vehicle. while inside the residence, daughter heard dogs outside barking. daughter went to check on dogs and saw that the vehicle was on fire. the vehicle was parked and engine was not on. the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. the vehicle fire also burned a part of the exterior of the residence. the vehicle is currently still at the residence where it burned. i request that this vehicle be investigated because there was not reason for it to have caught fire. it was not involved in any type of accident.
In park and truck rolls, and the transmission is severly slipping, and smells like gas
The blind spot mirrows have been replaced by a 1/8 inch lite in the mirrow. it is hard to see if the sun / city lites are shinning in your eyes. this is the only means of seeing a vehicle in the "blind spot", this is dangerous, i only have one eye + bad vision, i have had several close calls. the back up alarm only sounds when you are 24 inches or less from an object, if it sounds at all, the first morning i backed into an object, it never gave a sound. i have had alarms since 2004, no problems. blind spot mirrows for many years. a lot of electrical problems, i have been waiting over two weeks to get this problem fixed. the blind spot mirrows are a big safety problem. moving & in traffic.
I was headed home from work and my truck was stationary stopped at a stop light, and the automatic engine stop was active, with sync networked. a vehicle from behind ran into my 3 week old vehicle. the engine automatic start-stop sync started, and the engine raced to very high rpms. throwing my head back into the headrest again. i had to press really hard upon the brakes to prevent my vehicle from slamming into the car ahead of me. at that moment my mind thought of the toyota camry acceleration problem years ago, and upon the vehicle returning to normal idle rpms, i double checked that my foot was actually on the brake. my foot was actually on the brake.
On 8/11/2018 i was involve in a really bad with my new 2018 ford f150 platinum i was coming home an it was raining all of a sudden the precollision system that alerts me started acting up i then apply brakes that was the worse mistake the trucks did not brake it slam my brakes so hard that made my truck fish tale out of control that threw me towards a concrete wall at speeds 65 miles the worse thing is that not one airbag deployed the only airbag that went off was the rear seat belt some experts had said that my truck should have never acted that way unless there is some kind of malfunction i reach out to ford but no answer as of now
After i was rear ended my 2018 f150 started smoking and caught fire at the base of the post beside the driver seat where the carpet and plastic side cover come together. this happened within 10 minutes of the crash. i was traveling approximately 10 mph on a 65 mph 4 lane, slowing due to traffic congestion when i was rear ended by a 2007 chevy pickup travelling at about 60 mph. hitting my truck hard enough to lift the front end and land on the 4 foot highway barrier in the front, my truck continued and then stuck the truck in front of me with my passenger door causing the rear of the truck to also land on the concrete barrier. i was helped from the truck thru the right side back door by the driver of the truck my vehicle impacted. officer was on site in about 3 minutes and wanted to move my truck first, he asked if i had anything i needed out of the vehicle. trooper and i went to get my belongings when we noticed the smoke in the cab. i was not able to get anything from the truck because the fire started and spread quickly. fire was only on the inside of the vehicle.
Driving on road with nobody around, rear side window just exploded sending glass shards everywhere in cab.
Stationary- bought the truck with a 6600# tow package, class iv hitch, 7 and 4 pin electric trailer plug-in and was expecting to tow a trailer. truck had no trailer brake or tow mirrors. any trailer exceeding 3000 lbs gvwr needs trailer brakes and tow mirrors. had to have them installed. should have been the manufacturers job to make towing safe for the average driver to make lane changes, make turns or brake safely. 6600 lb tow package is misleading and unsafe to the general public's safety!
The dash panel is warping on the right and left sides at the top in the area of the defroster ducts. this appears to be diverting the air from the defroster outlets and causing a reduced effeciency of the defroster system.
My 2018 ford f-150 with 7,800 miles was parked in my drive way while working in my garage at my home. the windows were rolled down about 3" to keep the heat from building inside the vehicle. it was 84 degrees outside temperature. when i was rolling up my windows to put the truck back in my garage, the drivers side window closed and i heard a cracking sound. no visible crack was evident. i rolled the window up a second time and a very small crack appeared in the upper corner where the glass turns upward next to the rear view mirror. the truck was taken to my local dealer and they took pictures and turned into ford. it was refused as they stated their was impact. my truck has factory window guards and there is not a mark on the passenger side guard or paint. i sent a claim to ford and they still claim it was impact. well ford all i have to say as where the crack began to propagate their is no way possible from the interior or exterior of the vehicle that you could humanly possible impact this area of the window as it is completely concealed. this vehicle was stationary in my concrete driveway while rolling up the windows. there is also no way possible that any foreign matter could have got in the window track. the first photo is from the exterior and the second is from the interior showing that the window broke from the most protected area and directly off the corner of the glass where it initially started.
Windshield has severe pitting and is getting worse everyday. any sun glare causes loss of visibility and i have to actually stop the vehicle and hang my head from the side window to see. vehicle has not been exposed to sand storms, etc. i own a 1966 tbird with the original windshield and it has better visibility than the 2018 f150. ford is dragging their feet and not responding. ford case # 15233332
Noticed chassis vibration starting at and above 60 mph. dealer attempted various fixes including replacing drive shaft, but vibrations remain
