Problems with 2016 Ford F-150 UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2016 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 25 450 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2016 Ford F-150

I was completing a 3 hour drive of approximately 120 miles (i had less than 5 miles to go till i arrived at my destination) when my sensors started lighting up my message board and dash system. i was in the left turn lane to enter the on-ramp to us65 south when this happened so i pulled off to the shoulder to investigate. i had just put my truck in park when a car pulled up and said that my engine was on fire. when i got out to look, the fire was rolling out from under the drivers side wheel well. as well, there was either a fluid or melted plastic dripping down to the asphalt that was also on fire. the fire appeared to put itself out, for the most part, prior to the fire company arriving within the next 10 minutes. i had, what i believed to be at the time, recall work done by mike raisor ford in lafayette, in, less than 1 year ago. in that recall work, i thought the block heater was disconnected so as to prevent an engine fire such as this. now, i am having doubts as to whether this was completely disconnected. nhtsa campaign number is 18v894000 and fords recall number is 18s45.

My ford f150's rear window exploded while pulling into an intersection and no impact. the rear defrost was on.

When the temperature drops below 30 degrees the drivers door will not stay latched/shut. currently i cannot get into my truck via the drivers door. i remoted started the truck (outside temp 21 degrees) went to leave so i unlocked the door, got into the truck and attempted to shut the door and it would not latch. i pulled the door shut and hit the lock button and the door latched. i forgot something in my house so i got out of the truck and the door would not latch, i pushed it shut and hit the lock button and went in my house. came out and the door would not open even after being unlocked. rear passenger door is also the same way. this has happened multiple times

Driving down the road we smelled smoke and my back sliding window shattered and blew out. took it to the dealership and they wouldn't give a complete estimate. called ford corp and of course they are dragging their feet. the rear defrost wasn't even activated at the time that it shorted out. i have researched the problem and it has been a major issue with fords for years.

I was hearing a sound coming from front of the truck. it sounded like rocks in a tin can but it was not all the time. had it checked and they told me it was the 4 wheel drive trying to engage on its own. i hardly use the 4x4 system. i had to have the line replaced.

All steering wheel controls/buttons became unresponsive.

The wrench light first came on around 42,000 miles, but would shut off when the vehicle would be turned off. it came on a second and third time around the 50,000 and 51,750 miles. sometimes it would come back on when driving again and sometimes not. then the engine light came on at about 52,000 miles. when this came on, it would stay on. the truck would seem to lose a lot of power and the rpm's would begin revving higher while driving. this would be driving on all road conditions, highway or city, up and down hills. we had the truck in to check and the code it provided was 'dtc s-p0741 torque convertor clutch solenoid circuit performance stuck off. will have to replace tcc and if condition still exists, replace the main valve body.' the first ford dealer (while on vacation) made the repair, but this did not repair the truck. (the wrench light came back on again 131 miles after the repair and the engine light came back on again 40 miles later of the wrench light warning.) took the truck back to the ford dealer we purchased the truck at and they are still trying to determine the cause to the issue. the first time the wrench light came on, was under normal driving conditions and not towing a camper. all the remaining times the wrench and engine light came on was while towing a camper. (not sure if this is possible cause of the issue or not, but feel it is worth noting.) according to the owner's manual, the auto start/stop feature is to automatically disable when a camper is hooked up to the truck. but this never seemed to automatically disable when we were hooked up to the truck. another issue is when starting the truck up from a cold start it would make a rattling noise. this only happens from cold starts. if the truck had been runner awhile, shut off and then restarted, it did not make the noise. ford is still trying to determine what could be causing this.

Light came on brake fluid low then immediately no brakes going down the road. bad master cyclinder.

If truck is not driven in a few weeks the gas feed sticks in reverse, i have not had it stick in forward. only in reverse, my wife had a accident with this truck. i've had it stick on me but i'm looking for it. ford and the insurance companies say that there is nothing wrong. it has occurred several times with me and i don't let my wife drive the truck.

The sync 3 systems functions poorly or not at all. often times it stalls, freezes or becomes unresponsive which can cause the following to happen. the screen goes black and i am unable to adjust the climate or use the radio. all functions are disabled. the screen get stuck with the backup camera on and all of the controls are disabled, including the climate control. the screen is unresponsive to the touch and the climate control, radio and all other functions do not work. the navigation gets stuck on the screen and the location is inaccurate and you cannot make other changes, including to the climate control. it does not matter if the vehicle is in motion or stationary as the sync 3 system does not function either way. this happens about every time i drive the vehicle but i had to enter a single date in the system. i asked the dealer about this but their response was "did you get the extended warranty?".

While driving i recieved a brake fluid level low warning light. proceded cautiously to work approximately a mile away without any issue. looked at the reservoir and found it to be nearly empty. after the truck sat i went to leave work hoping to make it to a parts store to get brake fluid. got in to start it and the pedal went completely to the floor with no resistance. hitched a ride to get fluid and topped it off. i got back in and headed down the road making it no more than a mile before i completely lost my brakes. after service this was apparently caused by a faulty seal in the master cylinder pumping all the brake fluid into the booster. a problem ford has had with previous model years and recalled. this type of failure leaves no evidence of a leak. this was a sudden and complete loss of the ability to stop my vehicle except for the parking break. dangerous to say the least.

Horn assembly is not working while in motion or parked. the after the month bumper to bumper warranty was up the horn stop working, including sound when using the key to lock/unlock truck, and the panic alarm does not sound. was inform from dealership we will have to pay to have this corrected 433.83. goes back to ford dealer ship on july 15 2019

Third brake light started leaking water into cab which ran down under carpet on driver side causing mold and mildew inside cab which is a very bad health risk for people i cant even drive it because of the mold smell have to replace the complete carpet

Rear defogger on sliding rear window has become completely disconnected. poor design. when automatically opening sliding rear window, the defogger mechanism gets caught on rear seat eventually, this lead to the rear defogger disconnecting and breaking off from his housing.

The doors (especially front driver side) often do not latch shut when the temperature is below freezing. the latch mechanism appears to be freezing. if one doesn't realize the door is not fully latched, it may swing open while on the road. i had to hold the door with one hand in order to prevent the door from swinging open. i will be bringing the truck to the dealer for the 18n03 recall despite the fact that many other f150 owners state that this does not fix the problem in many cases.

My driver door won't latch. sometimes it won't open. other times it won't latch.

Some of the door locks keep freezing in cold wet weather. once i get the doors open they cannot lock properly. the door will fly open while underway due to the frozen locks. this has happened several times over the past three years.

Drivers side door lock is frozen in the open position. air temperature dipped to around 0 degrees overnight. there is a recall on this for other 2016 ford f150's with the same problem. my vin number is not included in this recall at the present time.

While driving the interior instrument lights suddenly come on park brake, 4x4, air bag, traction, abs, advance trac, and steering assist. during this process the brakes engage & then you can hear the scrubbing sound of the brakes.this has happened multiple times. i've returned it to the dealer for service 3 times, after a month of diagnostic testing & road testing the steering system failed on the serviceman while driving it. they informed me that they want to return the vehicle to me without making any repairs because it has not re initiated this process in the last 3 days. this is a safety hazard for me and any other vehicle on the road. ford has informed me that if the steering goes out while driving call roadside to bring it back. total disregard for my safety and or anyone else. this event occurs while driving, it also shows these readings upon starting the vehicle. this has happened under 30,000 miles and over that threshold. it has happened on multiple occasions.

I have a 2016 f150 lariat super cab you had a recall on the f150 doors and i had the recall done it only covers the door latches but the recall doesn't cover the rear door locking pins. when its cold outside i open the rear half door and close it and the bottom bolt doesn't come down and lock the rear bottom half of the door only the top half is secured. i have to have the heat cranked on high to warm the inside of the cab so the bottom locking bolt will come down and properly secure the door on the bottom. if the top locking bolt fails the only thing keeping the door closed is the seat belt im wearing since it is mounted in the rear half door and is latched across me why is this locking bolt not covered by the recall are you waiting for someone to fall out of the car and get hurt before you recall this also. my old f150 never had this problem it was a super cab also i called your corporate customer service and they told me its not covered all i want is my 2016 ford f150 to be safe i love this truck i hope you can help me

I was told by the sales person, (xxxxx), that the truck is under a bumper to bumper warranty, and a ford company warranty that includes even the light bulb. after just few days of driving, i noticed some vibration of the truck, bad oil burning in the cabine, griding of the wheels when i have to take sharp corners and many more issues. called the covington ford dealer about the problems/issues i have with the truck. i was told to take it to a ford dealer to have it inspected. did that. called covington ford and they told me to take it over to theyr dealer and they will checked and fix it. left the truck for over a week with them i called to see what's going on with my truck. i was told they fixed everything.now the vibration is getting worse. called again covington ford with same problems. i told them i'll go on a hunger strike in front of their dealer and ford company main office. and i will if the problem is not solved. the owner of covington ford contacted me by phone, and left me a mesage that thy will take care of the truck or get me another truck. drove again to their dealer on a saturday morning. the sales person, (xxxxx) , took a test drive and he said that yes, there are to many problems with the truck, so, i'm gonna get another one. after over 3 hours of back and forth with the owner and general manager, they offer me a older model,2015, and lower xl model. now i have f150 2016xlt. did not accepted, so they told me to hit the road. as i said, i'm gonna go on a day hunger strike, call all the media outlets. even i'll put it on face book. covington ford should be responsable and inspect the cars before they offer it for sale. i hope that you will help me to solve this problem before i'll go on a hunger strike. all i want from covington ford to stand behind their sales, honor the warranties. thank you. a very disappointed customer. My husband was driving home from work when he heard a pop that sounded like a balloon bursting and he smelled something burning. he did have the rear sliding window open partially. when he got home, he looked the vehicle over to find his back window had shattered. our insurance covered it 100% but this appears to not be an isolated incident. i went online and learned that has happened to other ford f150s and explorers and ford will not accept responsibility. i am going to put a complaint in with them as well.

This is in regards to an appointment i made with prestige ford 17701 u.s. hwy 441, mt. dora, florida 32756 for safety recall 17v-652. i made an apt. to have it fixed dec. 24, @ 12:30. i arrived a few minutes early signed paperwork and said i'd wait. about 15 minutes later i was told they will not fix it until it malfunctions. i asked the guy why was i given an apt? his response was it wasn't him. i told him i going to lake placid in feb. and was concerned about the doors freezing. he said if they do then i can get it fixed. so i said i'm suppose to be stranded in the north country and not be able to get in my truck. are you people for real? i want to file a formal complaint with your agency. i've attached photos below of the work ticket and, get this, a email the dealership sent me saying sorry you missed your appointment. no sorry you didn't fix the problem!

Sudden loss of power ,did not stall ,no engine light ,in the span of 1/2 mile did it 3 times ,pulled off road each time and let idle in neutralthen took off again. then it went 2 miles ok ,stopped for 2hours ,back on road again at appiroximately 1 mile loss power again ,i did same as above it di it twice more within 1/2 mile again ,then it was ok for 1 1/2 miles then did again on a really bad curve , then i drove another 2 miles to my home and called 800 # to ford ,they tow truck pick it up took to my dealer ,they had a week could not find anything wrong ,they put approximately 50+ miles on it ,no problem drove normally ,called me to pick it up no way tell what was wrong without a code ,drive till it happens again and call us , i said i'll call but if no code what happens then ,no sense bringing back to you because no no can fix ,no answer to that ,give back the old days pre computer at least you could always fix those vehicles ,with computer not even a clue. an they dare to put driverless cars on the road!! at the right time an location could cause a deadly accident!

This morning i turned on my vehicle ( it was parked in my driveway) to warm it up. i proceeded to use the rear defroster because there was some frost on the rear windshield. five minutes later i heard a loud pop and when i looked back the rear windshield was completely shattered. i i i believe this was a result of a malfunction with the wiring of the rear windshield defroster or the rear windshield itself.

Since buying this truck i've been having driveline vibrations on the vehicle. the vibrations happen when from a complete stop i would accelerate and have vibrations that would cause the truck to shake. the conditions of the road were normal and and tried numerous times on different pavements to see if it might be the road conditions but it wasn't. the vibrations is mainly between the 5-15 mile per hour range. i've taken it to the dealer and they said that it was a common issue with these trucks and that it was totally normal.

The back glass shattered. i warmed the truck up earlier using my remote start. i got into the truck and forgot my phone, i then exited the truck and closed the driver side door and i head a noise. the glass exploded both inside and outside. there was glass everywhere. after researching, i have found several other similar issues with the back glass. the truck was in park and in our driveway. the quote from the ford dealer is $750.

The ford f-150 2016 have a serious flaw in safety feature. the windows will not raise or lower unless the engine is running. the seriousness of this can't be painted in this email as opposed to the real life potential of being trapped in a truck and the only way out would be to roll down the windows. in the right circumstances the engine may not start therefore giving the potential to be trapped in a ford truck that could be on fire due to a crash. i dare not try to illustrate all the possible reasons of how dangerous this safety flaw in the ford is but the given fact is all auto makers have failed by selling vehicles that does not have the ability to roll down the windows in case of emergency. on most ford vehicles the technology exists for this feature to be installed. the install program is named global window. the global window install operates with the key fob even if the engine isn't running. the procedure for this to work is simply double tap the unlock button on the key fob twice on the second motion while depressing the unlock button it is to be held in the downward position and this action will roll the windows down without the engine running. in the arena of safety it is unacceptable for any auto maker to present the possibility of trapping any person or persons in a vechicle due to windows not working because the engine not running. in closing i offer this scenario automobile runs off a bridge over a river or lake, the vechicle sinks and the occupants can't open the doors and due to the safety failure of the windows not rolling down due to the engine not running causes apparent heart break . all over the fact that a failure of the ability not to be able to roll the windows down .. not acceptable reguardless of who the maker of the automobile is. be it ford cheverolet, toyota or any auto maker. this failure is in all modes static or moving .

I have had my truck to dealer for many multiple issues involving electrical since approximately 6600 miles beginning with shaking when i slowed down without utilizing brakes. since then i've been at the dealer with many electrical issues where truck would not accelerate and all lights would illuminate. this has been ongoing and very unsafe. when i would attempt to make a left hand turn i would proceed to cross opposing lanes and vehicle would feel like it was in neutral and almost was struck on numerous occasions. vehicle has also over accelerated very early in ownership. most recently and i picked up my truck and a week later same problem. i have had my truck at the dealership with electrical problems that create a great danger to myself as well as other motorists. certainly i cannot be the only person who literally as of the first week of december 2015 received my ordered truck and now after 3 years has had so many close calls when operating the vehicle. all times the vehicle was operational and runs very rough prior to happening. i have been driving down the street and video the trucks camera and other items going on and off during operation. the truck has sever electrical deficiencies and the engine has severe response issues that puts my life. my passengers lives and the other motorist at great risk of injury or death. i am unable to supply all the dates in the one space provided. but have all video and paperwork from all the times and dates from dealership.

The power folding mirror button is located directly in front of the drivers window control, approximately 1/2' away. while in motion, driver can hit mirror button and cause them to fold in. this happens at any speed. per forwards own recommendations, you must allow the mirrors to fully retracts before hitting the button to place them back in normal position otherwise, this could cause issues with the mirrors. this causes driver to remove eye from road to remedy situation as well as not having visibility of surroundings. software update should be published to disable the nearest from being able to be folded while the vehicle is in motion.

When temperatures are below freezing the doors will not open, or they won't latch shut. this has happened on 5 occasions since november 2018 . ford issued safety recall 17s33 and ford customer satisfaction program 18n03 to try to repair the door latch defect. those recalls, and repair programs have been performed on my vehicle, and after four attempts by the dealer to correct the latch issues, the defect still exists. the doors still have problems opening and latching shut when freezing outside temperatures. nhtsa campaign 17v652 identifies this safety defect as one that causes the doors to either not open, not close, or to fly open when driving. this represents a serious safety defect. i believe it is unacceptable and dangerous for anyone, especially kids or pets, to ride in a car where the doors can either unexpectedly fly open while driving down the highway, or to not be able to open in event of an emergency. ford needs to come up with a reliable repair for this.

Tailgate wont unlock when temp is freezing. i'm reading that many ford owners from, 2015 through 2017 have the same issue. here is what i found and the part number for the fix. some 2015-2017 f-150 vehicles built on or before 28-nov-2016 equipped with a mechanical tailgate handle and remote control tailgate lock may exhibit a tailgate that will not open during freezing temperatures due to a frozen tailgate latch control assembly. to correct this concern install a revised tailgate latch control assembly part number fl3z-9943170-e

I was traveling on i-96 highway in michigan, and just got on the highway. i was cruising along at about 70 mph (temp outside 75). after driving for about 2 minutes, i heard a loud pop sound that sounded like a gunshot explosion. i looked back at the rear glass, and it had shattered. the tempered glass was still intact however it was making a loud crackling sound. i pulled off the highway immediately and parked in a parking lot. i took pictures of the glass and noticed it was billowing outward from the truck, and the outer edges were jagged and broken. there was no sign of impact by a rock or any other object that could have hit the glass. i decided it was best to go to the ford dealership right down the road to have the incident documented. upon closing my door to get back into the truck, 2/3 of the shattered glass fell and spread out all over the back tonneau cover of the truck. clearly indicating the pressure of the break went "outward" from the truck cabin. the ford dealer body shop manager took pictures and told me he would file a claim on my behalf with ford. i expressed my concern with learning that ford has had a problem for years with this happening to their trucks and suvs, and i wanted this information passed on to the corporate level. i was able to bring the truck safely to an auto repair shop locally, and they told me they have replaced many rear glass sections in ford trucks that broke without an object impacting it. i think there is a substantial case here to be built against ford. yes, the glass was not dangerous, and thank goodness my son was not in the truck at the time. however if this really is a consistent problem with ford, it's time for a recall or a lifetime warranty by the company.

Driving down road. started smelling funny smell and smoke in cab. turned around to go back home. pulled into driveway and back window exploded. rear defrost was on.

My rear seat door lock pull buttons on both sides were not screwed into the mechanism. this would not allow the passenger to exit the vehicle by overriding the electric door locks. this could be a serious problem in an emergency. i fixed it by screwing the plastic post into the threaded mechanism.

Driving on hwy at 70 mph using adaptive cruise control all of a sudden it applied the brakes. few days later it did again on hwy nothing around me. stopped using it after second time. lucky no one was behind me. then after i got to my disination the next morning stater my truck first i noticed no power to the front driver & passanger windows then no a/c / climate control, no mirror control so started driving it then noticed tire warning light on but wouldn't show the tire pressures looked at tires and looked like they where fine. when leaving store was backing up and almost hit a car my warning sensor didn't go off now i noticed that all of my safety devices on this truck was not working. now i'm wondering if my airbags are active. drove back home from virginia to tennessee about 6 hr drive very carfuly. next day straight to ford dealer and is still there as i'm writing this. very unsafe to drive. did notice on the adaptive cruise control issue there was a recall on the 2015 models but didn't see any on the 2016.

Horn not working. i purchased a brand new 2016 ford f-150 in 2016. i am the first and only owner and i noticed 2 days ago my horn all of a sudden stopped working when i press on the horn but it will sound when i hit my alarm button on my key fob. the vehicle has not been in any accidents, i checked all the fuses and they are working and have a current running through them. after some research (within google and f-150 forums) a lot of people are having issues with this and having to replace their clock springs.

I drove my truck to my farm without incident. after being parked for a while, my son-in-law got in to drive to a work area and immediately reported the brake pedal went to the floor. we checked the brake fluid level and it was almost empty, even though i had recently had the level checked as "full" at a change of oil and filter. it took two large bottles of brake fluid (at over $8.00 each, just to get it home (about 50 miles). i had to pump the brakes during this trip to get braking action and drive very carefully and slowly. the day before this happened i had towed a single axle trailer with an agricultural disc on it. had this quick loss of brakes occurred at that time, it likely would have resulted in serious injury, property damage, and even death. the shop where i took it replaced the master cylinder, the power booster, which had filled with fluid, and an o2 sensor, which had been damaged. the total cost was $1194.34. since all the parts were replaced with new ford brand parts, there is a likelihood that it will happen again. this is a real safety issue and merits a recall, as well as reimbursement to me of my expenses.

It's happened 9 or 10 times in two years ... try to start it - nothing...try again-still completely dead. sit back wondering what i'm going to do, and the truck will start all by itself while i'm not touching anything. have spoken to numerous mechanics none have heard of it before.

I have a 2016 f150 with issues similar to nhtsa complaint id# 10127407. the problems are not intermittent, the part has failed & is not available from ford at this time. the air conditioning quits completely & you cannot run the fan at all. you cannot roll down any windows in the vehicle & the vehicle gets well over 90 degrees inside while driving. this is a huge safety issue because when this doesn't work it also disables the airbags of the vehicle, cross traffic alert as well as tire pressure monitor failure along with other safety features. the seats no longer retract or move forward when the vehicle is started/shutoff. the key fob intermittently will not lock the doors of the vehicle & the alert on the truck says key not found. with the warm temperatures and no way to roll down the windows or turn on the ac or a blower fan makes this vehicle extremely unsafe to operate.

Vehicle idles rough and stalls after driving for about 30 minutes or so. rpms drop to below 500, vehicle shakes and sputters, and sometimes dies. i have had the vehicle die multiple times before turning at a stop light/sign.

Started to hear a clicking/tapping noise coming from the engine while at idle. have learned that it is the etb (electronic throttle body). i physically saw the etb making the noise i am concerned about. took to ford for diagnosis and because the truck is not giving an error code, there is nothing they will do. found that there are several hundred complaints against ford and their etb. it is a safety issue that i am trying to prevent.

Extreme wind noise coming from driver's side door

When opening the sunroof the plastic track will break causing the sunroof mechanism to become jammed leaving the sunroof partially open and unable to close. this is the second time this track has broken

Purchased from mullinax ford palm beach on 4/13/2018. the vehicle is a 2016 ford f150. i have owned this vehicle slightly over a year and have experienced countless issues, mostly water leaks into the trucks cab that is wetting the carpeting causing humidity and mold issues, mullinax ford takes the vehicle in for repair, supposedly repairs the vehicle and returns it to me, the issues are still present after multiple visits to the dealers service dept. i reached out to ford motor co customer relations in regards to a buy back, ford denied the claim, the repairs have been sub par and per my own research from other service advisors at other dealers are not the correct fix. i reached out to the sales department for assistance, their assistance was minimal, offering below market value and no assistance in pricing for a replacement vehicle, the carpeting is wet causing moisture moldy smells, and mullinax has yet to contact me with an available appointment to fix these issues and ford customer relations has not returned my email but is supposedly supposed to contact me with on friday to touch base. i have records of all supposed repairs, as well as pictures and video documenting all these issues. repairs: integrated wheel end repair attempts: 1 sunroof leak repair attempts: 3 (issue still present) broken sunroof guides (broken by tech) repair attempts: 1 high mount brake light leak: repair attempt: 1 carpet shielding rework repair attempt: 1 vapor management valve repair attempt: 1 intermitten hard shift into reverse repair attempt: 1 (issue still present) rear sliding window leak repair attempt: 0 (issue still present) metallic rattle / chirp noise in engine bay repair attempt: 1 (issue still present) door vapor shield leak repair attempts: 2 (issue still present)

Truck was parked in driveway for 30 minutes and heard a loud pop. rear window shattered for no reason. was parked in shade and temperature was mid 70s.

Rear window breaking with out being impacted by anything. i was traveling and the rear window shattered. i pulled over and inspected the window and saw nothing that looked like it had been impacted. when i touched the glass it completely fell apart. there was no traffic where i was traveling.

The right passenger door will not shut, also the left passenger door will not open. i have contacted the dealer from where i purchased the vehicle and was told there is a back order on parts with no known time frame when they will receive the parts. recall number is 17s33/ nhtsa recall 17v-652. the vehicle is not safe to operate due to this condition.

In a few degrees below freezing locks and latches will not work!! most often you will be forced to bungee doors together to drive. in my case it is a screw and it is almost always the driver's door. it has been fixed with the latest ford repairs and still continues to fail. many many of us are sufferring without a fix from ford!!

Since i purchased my truck there has been issues with the backup camera. the dealer replaced the apim and had to keep the vehicle for three weeks to trace a bad wire. it has been 10 months and the camera has failed again. i feel as if this is a wider spread issue. ford even expanded the warranty for the previous years apims.
