Problems with 2015 Ford F-150 SEATS

On average, the 2015 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the SEATS and its various aspects after 3 310 miles.

Recently reported SEATS problems on 2015 Ford F-150

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact stated that the front driver's seat was not structurally sound because the bottom of the seat swayed in a rocking motion. the contact stated that the front seat adjuster pivot bolts failed to function. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v767000 (seats), although the vehicle exhibited the same failure as the 2016 vehicles of the same make and model. the dealer (honolulu ford, 1370 n king st, honolulu, hi 96817, (808) 824-3981) was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact felt that the failure would recur if the manufacturer had not provided a new remedy for the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 28,000.

I have cooled front leather seats. when turned on, the seat backs become very hot instead of being cooled. this has been reported on a number of websites by quite a few people and ford has issued a service bulletin. this is one site where nearly 700 people report a similar problem http://www.f150forum.com/f118/cooling-seats-issue-tsb-feedback-304154. this occurs when the vehicle is both stationary or in motion, on the highway or any other condition in the note below. the cooled seats just need to be on for this to happen.

Driver side front seat feels as if it moves from side to side as the vehicle corners. it feels as if a part is loose in the horizontal portion of the seat. this started occurring a few months after purchase (dec. 2015).

Cpsc: 2015 ford f150 supercew lariat: consumer stated after a long trip with the passenger seat set to max cooling, the child's hand became hot while trying to retrieve the book from the passenger seat. the seat was also on a high temperature of 132f for several hours. *ss

In some affected ford vehicles with climate controlled seats it is found that excessive temperatures in excess of 132 degrees f can be reached on the rear of the front seats. this area is just above the magazine pocket which causes an increase risk of contact with the high temperatures. children often store books in the magazine pocket and come in contact with the leather upholstery that is at an elevated temperature. if metal objects, such as toys, are stored in the seat pocket they can have heat transfer from this unit causing the toys to be hot to the touch causing the potential for burns. my children have touched this area of the seat in the past and complained about the seat being hot. they also have at times grabbed a toy out of the seat pocket and immediately dropped the die-cast toy due to it being hot. know affected vehicles include late 2015+ ford f150, ford explorer, ford mustang, and other models with the same seat climate control system. ford released a tsb 15-0154 to add an additional intake sock to the climate controlled seats. this repair has not successfully mitigated the safety risk to children being exposed to the hot temperatures.

I have been having an ongoing issue with my transmission, where it shifts rough or does not shift appropriately. when the truck shifts rough, i barely have my foot on the accelerator, where it will slam into gear causing the truck to jolt. i also have been experiencing the truck failing to downshift out of 4th gear while going uphills. while going uphills, the rpms will go below 1000, where the truck will begin to shutter as if it is going to stall. you are forced to press the accelerator in order for it to shift, where the rpms/turbo booster will soar. i have had the truck at the dealership for this concern, where they performed a software update and it did not fix the issue. i feel the transmission shifting rough could cause an accident, if the engine in fact stalls and you lose control of the vehicle. i also feel being forced to accelerate could cause you to strike the vehicle in front of you or lose control it this occurs while negotiating a turn etc. the panoramic sunroof allows water to pass the rubber seal and drain into the water track. i frequently have had the windows fog up from moisture inside the passenger compartment and the odor of mold. if you google "2015 ford f-150 sunroof leaks", you will find 1000's of concerned ford owners on forums experiencing the same issues, where ford states it is normal for the sunroof to leak past the seal. i feel the sunroof is a health concern, as i believe mold may be growing in the truck and is being breathed in. i have been experiencing the seat back getting extremely hot while using the "cooled seat" feature. i feel this could cause a burn or fire hazard.

When you turn on the seat cooler, the bottom will cool while the back will get excessively hot; if left on long enough it could cause burns on someone, especially the elderly or those with thin skin. there is currently no recall or info from ford on the issue.

My 2015 lariat has heated/cooled leather front seats. when using the seat cooling function i noticed the seat bottom would cool but the seat back seemed to get warm. at first i thought it was my imagination. attempted to use it on friday and about 30 minutes later my back was hot. i pulled over, felt the seat back with my palm, then my cheek and it was hot to the touch.

Front seat back cooling system (ted) is malfunctioning. when seat cooling is selected, after 30 minuets, the back of the front seats reach extreme temperatures, resulting in burning everyone that touches the back of the front seats. i've measure the temperatures, at the top of the map pocket, at over 115 degrees, when ambient temperatures were at 75 degrees. when ambient temperatures rise above 90 degrees, the front seat back temperature can reach up to 150 degrees or more! please reference f150 owners comments and thermal pictures proving this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed asap, at the web address: http://www.f150forum.com/f118/coolin...operly-304154/

The cooled seat function on the 2015 is a very poor design and it causes extreme heat to the back of the seat while the bottom of the seat somewhat cools. i feel this is a fire danger to anything in the seat back pocket.

The truck has malfunctioning climate controlled-massaging seats. the climate control does not work on the seats at all. my dealership looked it over today and confirmed that it was not working but then after two service reps could not find the problem they decided that since the truck has the massaging feature that the climate control must be disabled and will not work! i accepted this answer for a while and then decided that this is surely not the case or why else would the sales sheets say "climate controlled massaging seats"; not "climate controlled or massaging seats"? well i called the ford support phone number and after much deliberation the representative told me that i should go to another dealership! i have since learned that this is a common issue to some degree on many year/model of ford trucks. considering that i just traded a 2014 ford raptor for this truck and the climate controlled seats worked (although not considerably well) on it, i am very disappointed. the dealership that i purchased the truck from did not acknowledge this as being a problem but just a simple internet search yields thousands of complaints! the problem is so severe that when seat cooling is selected, after 10 minutes, the front seats reach even hotter temperatures rather than cooler. ford seems to be unwilling to take care of this problem but continues to advertise the feature and selling their trucks as if nothing is wrong! something needs to be done about this issue.

When the ac control for the front seats is in use the back of the seats can reach temperatures of 110 degrees when the temperature in the cab is 73 degrees. this temperature could burn my children who ride in the back seats or even cause damage to the seat or risk of fire. i have seen multiple accounts of this on the web and from other owners of 2015 ford f150 with this option.

The front seat back cooling system (utilizing a ted unit for cooling) is malfunctioning on my brand new 2015 ford f-150 platinum. when seat cooling is selected, after 15-30 minutes, the back of the front seats reaches extreme temperatures, resulting in extreme discomfort and potential burning of anyone that touches the front or back of the front seat backs. members of the ford f-150 forum have measured and documented the temperature readings, at the top of the map pocket, at over 115 degrees, when ambient temperatures were at 75 degrees. when ambient temperatures rise above 90 degrees, the front seat back temperature can easily reach up to 150 degrees or more. these are levels of heat that certainly can injure a child, or even an adult and, if a child is left in a locked car with the "cooling seats" engaged, it can more rapidly escalate the ambient temperatures to a dangerous and perhaps fatal level inside the vehicle. all attempts to bring this to ford regional and national customer service agents have been met with total disregard and, in some cases refusal to admit that a problem even exists. aside from the fact that owners paid $60k for these vehicles, ford's callous disregard of owners attempts to bring this to their attention are in stark contrast with ford's stated commitment to quality and service. examples of seat discoloration (leather) indicate just how high the temperatures can get . a 2013 vehicle with similar options had cooled seats that functioned perfectly well, but all 2015?s share this design flaw. please reference f150 owner?s comments and thermal pictures documenting this issue at the web address: http://www.f150forum.com/f118/cooling-seats-your-seat-backs-working-properly-304154/index112 any assistance you can provide in bringing this issue to the immediate attention of ford motor co. would be greatly appreciated.

Air cooled bucket seatbacks do not cool but instead dangerously overheat. problem is particularly bad in rear seatback pockets when cooling function is activated. infrared temperature measurements have been documented in you tube videos.

Cooled seats do not cool. instead the back of the seats, the part that touches my back, gets hot all the time. it's a fire hazard. it feels as if the heated seats were on all the time. other customers have reported temperatures up to 150 degrees: http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/f-150/2015/accessories-interior/seat_temperature_control_not_working_properly.shtml

Front seat back cooling system (ted) is malfunctioning. when seat cooling is selected, after 5-10 minutes the back of the front seats reach extreme temperatures. i am concerned that the extreme temperatures could pose a potential burn hazard or cause an electrical fire. i have not personally measured the temperature of the seats but while researching the problem i came across a forum where individuals with thermal cameras and inferred thermometers have measured the temperatures of the seat. several of the results were: at the top of the map pocket, at over 115 degrees, when ambient temperatures were at 75 degrees. when ambient temperatures rise above 90 degrees, the front seat back temperature can reach up to 150 degrees or more! numerous people are having this problem and ford has not made any public announcement that there is a potential problem with the cooled seats. you can reference the forum that i got this information from at the web address: http://www.f150forum.com/f118/coolin...operly-304154/

The f150 has climate controlled seat that all the occupants in the front two seats are able to use to heat or cool the seating surface. on my model the seat back of the system is not functioning properly in the cooling mode. after as little as 10 min of use the seat back goes from ambient temperature to uncomfortably warm. when reaching behind the seat and placing a hand on the back of the seat back there is a very hot section where the thermal electronic device is located. this is a safety hazard for anyone reaching into the map pocket or any adult or child who touches the back of the seat. while researching this issue online there have been owners who have used thermal imaging and temperature detection devices who have measured temperature from 115-130 degrees on the back seat. some even complain they have measured 150 degress. at that temperature a child could easily suffer severe burns to ther person. i do not have a device to measure temperature to get the exact number but it is uncomfortable to leave my hand on the area of the seat where the ted is located for any length of time.

Front seat cooling system, back of both the driver and passenger seats, is not working. when cooling is selected the back seat does not cool rather after 10-15 mins. it warms up. i have read the temp. with a gun and found it to be between 115 and 150 degrees at the back of the seat right above the map pocket at a ambient temp. of 75 degrees. my dealers answer to the issue was ford states its working as designed. i am not using the cooling function with anything in the back for fear or how hot it gets and a fire. ford has not given a fix for the problem. i am one of many. it is in many forums about this issue.

The air-conditioned "cooled" leather seats in my f-150 do not work properly. the seat bottoms do cool, but the seat backs, which should also cool, do not. there is a negligible amount of cool air that comes out, but eventually it stops cooling, and gets hot. the back of the front seats (in the area in and above the magazine pocket) does get hot. so hot i would be concerned if a child were to be seated in the back seats, and reached into the magazine pocket to retrieve a book. i imagine if i put a large 'map book' in the magazine pocket, it would completely restrict the exhaust airflow from the ted (device that's supposed to provide cool air to the front seat passenger). ford customer service and the dealerships haven't been much help on this. there is supposedly a tsb in the works, and new parts to help get cool air to the ted, and properly exhaust the hot air, but any such fix has been far too slow in coming. in the meantime, i feel this is a safety hazard, in addition to the complaint that my cooled seats don't cool!
