Windshield wiper continue to operate in low intermittent when the switch is in the off position - the driver cannot turn off the wipers. any time the truck's engine is on, the wipers run. ford motor company published online tsb 15-0061 on april 27, 2015, which addressed the problem for model years 2011-2014 for explorers, f150's, edges, mkx's and f-super duty vehicles. the bulletin call for the installation of a "new wiper/malfunction switch, which at my dealer costs $900. obviously, a vehicle cannot be safely operated with the wiper running in dry weather. eventually, the wiper blades would melt and streak the windshield, thus blurring the driver's vision. repairing the problem is not is not optional, it mus be done. ford knew it had problems with the equipment in model years 2011-2014. i have a 2015 and the problem still exists. not only have they not solved the problem inn newer models, they failed to re-engineer the wiper system to make the repair less costly. replacing the switch requires disassembling and reassembling the steering column, which is labor intensive and thus expensive. ford has managed to limit its exposure by calling the problem a warranty issue. i commute 80 miles a day in metro atlanta. the weather has been relatively dry in recent years, so i blew through the mileage limits on the warranty with little need to use my wipers. working wipers are necessary safety equipment. ford knew they had a problem for several years, but did not solve the issue. the cost is not affordable for many americans. ford should bare the burden of repairing equipment that they knew was faulty, but continued to install in new vehicles.
The wipers quit working when the right blinker is on. when the right blinker is on to signal a turn, the wipers quit working completely. it does not matter what mode the blinkers are in (fast, slow, intermittent) once the right blinker is off, the wipers will begin to work again. vehicle can be stationary or in motion. i believe the multi-function device is defective.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while exiting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the rear sliding window glass was loose and off track. the contact took the vehicle to murray ford kingsland (2030 ga-40, kingsland, ga 31548) to be diagnosed, but no repairs were performed. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the approximate failure mileage was 52,000.
The remote start was on for 5 minutes, we got in the car and the entire back windshield was shatterring. there was no prior damage to the back windshield, no issues ever. we looked on the outside and it was shattering from the edges and slowly started cracking to pieces before our eyes. if we would have been driving this would have been a huge safety concern especially with children in the back seat.
On 10/18/19 at 7:20 am i started my 2015 f150 with 27k miles via the autostart system as the outside temperature was around 35f and there was front on the glass. my truck was in my driveway, facing north towards the street. when i approached my truck after in n for under 5 minutes i could smell a burning odor. i opened the truck and the smell was stronger. when i look around i saw that the rear window was completely shattered with a hole where a section fell into the bed. i contacted my ford dealer and the service tech stated he never heard of this and they could replace it for approx. $1400.00.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 30 mph on the freeway, the rear passenger side window shattered without warning. the contact managed to drive the vehicle home. there were no injuries. bluebonnet ford lincoln (351 i-35bl, new braunfels, tx 78130, (888) 890-1586) was contacted and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in a warranty. the failure mileage was approximately 105,534.
Started my truck using remote start. roughly 45-55 secs later, i get in my truck and the rear passenger area is filled with smoke. i shut off vehicle. i smelled burned electrical wires. i wasn't able to detect anything out of the norm. roughly 5-7 mins later, my back glass shattered. truck was stationary.
Turned defrost on and in 2 to 3 minutes heard a loud pop and looked back and the rear windowpane had completely shattered. the break happened in motion on a city street. the defrost malfunctioned and overheated the window causing it to shatter.
On a major highway in elk grove illinois during rush hours. 45 mph . outside temperature was 27 degrees above zero. road was wet with salt from previous snow fall. windshield was collecting heavy spray back from other vehicles in front of my truck. when applying windshield washer the washer failed to spray. resulting in a very smeared and heavy road dirt on windshield. it was very frightening to not being able to see in front of me. i was unable to pull over and clean the windshield manually at that moment. this has happened twice this winter and i found this to be very threatening to properly maintain safe driving under these circumstances. this only happens when below freezing and there is -35 below zero washer fluid in the reservoir i have made an appointment at a ford dealership which they have a bulletin repair on this. no accidents because of this yet. i believe in putting up the guard rail before the vehicle runs of the road.
The rear windshield shattered during defrost mode. the vehicle was pulling away from a stop sign when the glass shattered. there was no impact, the vehicle was traveling under 20 miles per hour, the temperature outside was approximately 20 degrees, and the heat setting inside was set to "max". the rear glass panes on either side of the sliding window shattered simultaneously with a sound that could be described as a "gun shot". broken glass fell into the cab of the truck and on to the seats and floor. normally my children are seated in the rear of the vehicle. on this particular morning, the rear of the vehicle was empty. the event occurred about 3 miles from my home, so the vehicle had only been running for about 10 minutes. i believe that the safety risk is a result of a materials defect combined with a heating system failure. the glass is likely experiencing severe thermal shock during defrost mode. thermal shock leads to shattering even if the glass is tempered. ford should recall this rear window assemblage and associated heating components immediately. ford customer service was contacted and a case number was assigned. after repairs were complete, a copy of the invoice was hand delivered to a ford dealership with a request that full reimbursement be received for required repairs due to material defects and faulty heating systems.
Windshield wiper fluid not working. ford said tubes freeze, i had to pay to replace but the fluid still does not come out when temperatures below 20 degrees. i am using rain-x fluid rated to -30 degrees, same fluid works in other vehicles. once engine is warm and stopped for 20 minutes, fluid will sometimes work. i think the plastic tubes ford charged me for should be replaced with metallic ones that will not constrict/shrink.
Below about 25 degrees fahrenheit, the windshield washer system freezes up and is unusable. this is despite having fluid certified to -45 degrees centigrade in the system. the freeze up occurs regardless of whether the vehicle is being driven or is parked. the system is always unusable below 20 degrees fahrenheit. this has been a persistent problem every winter since the vehicle was new. i have taken it to the dealership and they are unable to determine the problem. i suspect this is a defect throughout the make/model/year.
Wipers turn on and stay on while driving. road conditions had no effect. the courtesy wiper was turned off. even though the wiper switch was turned off the wipers would still come on and stay on. i took it to ford and they said the wiper switch was bad. charged me $300 to make the repair. ford technician said the switch in the steering column went bad. of coarse this happened at 41,000 miles and ford declined to warranty it.
Windshield wiper fluid dispenser freezes even with -30 degree fluid in it. it becomes very dangerous for visibility when snow, slush or something hit the windshield. it happens anytime in low temps and does not deforest even when the truck has been running for a long period of time.
Wipers stuck in lowest intermittent position. will not turn off. will not reliabliy change speeds.
Electrical power connector for rear sliding window defroster broke at its attachment (factory soldered) point to the rear sliding widow glass. this leaves the defogger inoperable and eliminates rear visibility due to fog/frost/ice build-up. vehicle is just out of its 3 year warranty and has less than 28,000 miles. i have spoken with ford customer service. ford motor company service is unwilling to recognize/correct the factory defect and claimed to have no knowledge of similar issues for the 2015 model. this defect is apparently similar to that which ford has recognized for similar 2013 models, issuing a technical service bulletin (ford tsb asi-32259)
Wipers will not shut off. even if you shut the vehicle off, they still come on when it's started again. the only way to stop the wipers is to pull the fuse. there is a recall on 2011-2014 models but not on the 2015 model. this is clearly a defective ford switch but company will not cover the replacement. i have called the dealership and 800 number.
Pulling into my driveway my power sliding back window exploded and shattered. the rear defrost was not on and there was no impact or damage.
Wipers would come on while driving or sitting stationary by them self would not shut of with wiper control swith. i called them 'ghost wipers' only had 22,000 miles on truck had to buy wiper/turnsignal switch.
I have a constant issue in temps below 25 degrees which is about 25% of the time in my patrol area. this is a state patrol issued patrol vehicle. spray nozzle fails to operate. pump can be heard operating but pressure drops until inop. checked washer lines, non appear to be frozen. nozzle does not appear to be frozen either. i have tried all known fixes, lower temp fluid, a fluid "booster", alcohol on nozzle etc. this happens constantly while in motion as i would assume wind chill temps decrease. after letting truck sit for 15 mins or so issue is resolved due to obvious increased under hood temperatures. within minutes of highway driving and again lower wind chill temperatures problem occurs again. maybe a freezing pump issue? dealership stated they had no idea about issue.
The panoramic sunroof locked up on me when i tried to open it... it would not open and it makes obnoxious noises under normal driving conditions ... there are many you tube videos on this ref. issue... ford is replacing the parts to the sunroof, i have read on many ford forums that this 'quick fix' will not correct the problem ... additionally the steering column always feels like it's positioned off center and veers to the right... i had the truck aligned, problem still exists... also i've had reoccurring issues with my sync/bluetooth and have advised my service advisors that the problem still exists, when i talk to anyone via the bluetooth i hear loud intermittent static throughout the phone call and the folks on the receiving end of the call all say that there is an echo in the phone line forcing me to end the handsfree sync call and therefore using my own bluetooth... ford service advisor stated it was because i have an apple iphone, i'm less than satisfied about how ford is handling this issue... i have complained more than 3 times on record about this issue
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact stated that while operating the vehicle in colder weather below 25 degrees the windshield washer fluid would not properly spray onto the front windshield causing a visibility hazard to the driver. the cause of the failure was not determined. the local dealer inver grove ford/lincoln (4725 s. robert trl, inver grove heights, mn) was notified of the failure. the contact was advised that a tsb was issued for the problem which included the replacement of a faulty hosed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 10,000.
Inoperative windshield washer jets when temperature is below freezing. this happens anytime the roads are wet from salt spray and makes it difficult to see and dangerous to stop along side the road to clean the windshield. see ford tsb 16-0082
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while attempting to use the windshield wipers, the wiper fluid failed to dispense. the vehicle was taken to osseo ford (50825 spruce rd, osseo, wi 54758, (715) 597-3185) where it was diagnosed that the wiper hose needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
At temperatures of 20f-22f windshield wiper pump loses pressure and can not pump wiper fluid. dealership brings truck inside, warms truck and claims it was frozen and now it works. after driving 15 minutes in 20f-22f pump initially worked then started to lose pressure again, resulting in failure to pump windshield wiper fluid. you could see the pump pumping less and less as you drive. this causes a condition where it is difficult to see out the window and vision is impaired. also using premium deicer washer fluid, not standard wiper fluid, (rain-x deicer) that has a tendency to freeze in the north east during winter.
On most occasions when temperatures are below freezing, windshield washer solvent doesn't work to clear windshield of ice and salt buildup, creating little to no visibility. it sporadically functions between +25 to +32 degrees and rarely ever below +25 degrees. using winter blended washer solvent -25 degrees. ford is aware of the problem and the fix is to replace a rubber washer fluid supply line. apparently, there is a defect with the hose. a recall should be issued to correct these dangerous driving conditions.
Rear window shattered. vehicle was parked. i was away from the vehicle working and when i returned i noticed the rear window was shattered outward. outside temp was 60 degrees f, and there was little to no wind. center slider was intact, but the large glass was blown outward in the center of the two largest areas. see photos.
Windshield cracked without any impact from road debris while driving down the freeway at 65 to 70 mph in 70 degree clear weather on march 8, 2017. crack started after a very loud noise, like a gun shot, at the upper edge of the windshield right at the roof line just above rearview mirror and expanded about 8 inches at a 60 degree angle then ran at 180 degree angle another 14 inches before heading back to the top lip of the windshield at a 90 degree angle. professional body & glass repair shop could not find impact of any kind anywhere on the windshield appeared like a general stress fracture not associated with impact or excessive stress more like a flaw in the windshield structure. truck had approximately 26,000 miles on odometer has never been used to tow nor has it been off road. have windshield fractures not associated with impact been reported on other aluminum body ford pickups . we took possession of our truck in june of 2015. our truck is a super crew cab 2 wheel drive 2.7 liter v6 lariat model. repair was a little over $500 not covered by insurance. these windshields have sound proofing material inside them according to the body shop and somewhat unusual.
Windshield washer fluid frozen in lines. when pushing the washer fluid button while driving, the wipers would wipe but not washer fluid would come out causing a dangerous visibility situation. i took it to the dealer that day while they were still frozen and the dealer said i did have the correct windshield washer fluid in them, but they were having problems with them freezing, so they said they dumped more alcohol in the tank and said to let it thaw overnight in the garage (thankfully i have a heated garage, but many don't so i'm not sure what their solution would be). i asked the dealer to perform the tsb currently out that covers this very situation. they said they put more alcohol in the tank and it should be fine. the dealer was dahl ford located in onalaska, wi. this even being a problem to begin with is a alarming, and a dealer not willing to fix such an important problem when it's a known issue is just as much of an alarm! secondly, my door latches also freeze on the truck when temps are below freezing. all 4 doors of my crew cab are affected. depending on the day, it varies which one freezes. i have stopped using car washes and trying to keep my truck as dry as possible to no avail. once these latches freeze, the door will either not lock or unlock (depending on the last position of the switch), or when you open the door and shut it, the door mechanism will not grab and hold the door shut. after repeated slammings i can usually get it to lock, but this is absolutely ridiculous. i have to carry bungee cords around in case my doors won't close and i have to bungee cord them closed to drive home! i have a newborn, i can't have this crap on a truck with 20k miles! many many many many many people are having these exact same issues, i only found out how many there were after doing an online search for a fix. *tr
Freezing windshield washers.
Windshield wiper sprayer not working in colder weather. occurred when temperatures are under 20 degrees also another owner experience this that same day. its happened twice now in the past week. visibility with windows icing/smeared dirt is troublesome whether on highway or driving in general. highly concerned i wouldn't be able to safely see to pull over. love the truck but this is concerning. *tr
Frozen wiper nozzles, frozen washer fluid reservoir, frozen hoses to and from reservoir to nozzle sprayer. multiple occasions of the fluid being frozen, or freezing while driving. using winter mix solution designed for upto -20. tried other brands, still end up with freezing sprayer while driving, temperature has done this at around 20 degrees, uncertain if this is due to characteristic of aluminum body or poor design. check valve was observed being frozen at one point with blockage, had an updated checkvalve/line kit i purchased, after reading in f150 forum for tsb for f150, yet still had issues. vehicle remains garaged while not in use, other vehicles including older ford ranger and a plymouth neon did not have these issues although sitting outside with same wiper fluid. significant hazard on highway to have sprayer go from working to frozen in seconds with the misting of other cars in the snow on windshield. very dangerous situation in the dark, defrosters on high heat do not help enough to clean the windshield. presently looking at heating methods/defrosters or insulators before winter comes. would like a factory solution, but i cannot wait til it causes a serious wreck. a vehicle passing by blowing mist in winter will diminish visibility greatly. i've had multiple occasions of freezing sprayer/reservoir/line issues. sometimes while stationary, other times while driving sprayer ices over. after long drive 1hr sitting in garage the engine bay heat thaws out the sprayer. many complaints on f150 forum. best estimate for date of occurrence(s) is winter months.
I own a 2015 f-150 supercrew lariat with moon-roof which has been replaced & fixed multiple occasions for leaks which has damaged the interior and left a rotten smell within the truck and not able to get out. also the moonroof has also been replaced for broken tracks multiple times for non operations of moonroof.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving various speeds with all the doors locked, the front driver and passenger side doors failed to remain locked. in addition, the window lock on the driver side door was engaged, but failed when the vehicle reached higher speeds. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was operating as designed. the vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 12,000. updated 09/22/16*lj *tr
Windshield washers will not spray when cold out. tank if full of pure -20f rated fluid which is full and not frozen. nozzles have been heated with hot water and still will not spray. problem seems to be the check valve is made in such a poor way that it will not work when it's cold out was 20f today had a 3 hour drive on snowy wet roads with no washer fluid spraying. i know this was not safe but was hoping it would fix itself but never did.
Today, 1/17/16 on my way home i turned on the rear defroster but the light didn't come on so i assumed a fuse had blown or something. then while continuing on my drive home, about 5-10 minutes, later i heard a loud sound like a gun shot and when i turned to see what it was low and behold the passenger rear window was shattered. apparently this has happened to hundreds if not thousands of ford trucks from 2009-2014 and something needs to be done about this. us as consumers shouldn't have to bare the burden of the expense for repair of a known defective part, or as some of the dealers have suggested, file the claim with your insurance company. here again, it is exactly these types of claims that will keep increasing insurance premiums for us consumers because large corporations like ford will not step up and do what they know is the right thing and issue a recall.
I purchased a 2015 in august 2015. i took this into the dealer 2 weeks ago as the washer fluid pump would not work. i was told that the washer pump motor needed replacing. however, they could not tell me when this would be fixed. apparently the washer pump is on backorder. i was told to use a "long squeegee" in the mean time. however, not being able to use the washer fluid greatly affects visibility in my state (wv) in january with the use of road salt. it has been 2 weeks today and i still have not been updated on when they may be able to resolve this issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact stated that the windshield washer fluid failed to disperse through the jets without warning. the contact stated that the failure occurred when the temperature was extremely low during the winter months. the vehicle was taken to ipswich ford (105 county rd, ipswich, ma 01938 (978) 356-6850) several times, but a cause of failure could not be determined. while driving in extremely cold weather with salt on the road, the contact attempted to operate the windshield washer fluid, but the fluid failed to dispense. as a result, the contact drove into a snow bank. there were no injuries. the vehicle was towed out of the snow bank and driven home. a police report was not filed. the vehicle was taken back to ipswich ford and repaired per tsb 16-0082 (inoperative windshield washers-below 0 degrees fahrenheit). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
I have been having an ongoing issue with my transmission, where it shifts rough or does not shift appropriately. when the truck shifts rough, i barely have my foot on the accelerator, where it will slam into gear causing the truck to jolt. i also have been experiencing the truck failing to downshift out of 4th gear while going uphills. while going uphills, the rpms will go below 1000, where the truck will begin to shutter as if it is going to stall. you are forced to press the accelerator in order for it to shift, where the rpms/turbo booster will soar. i have had the truck at the dealership for this concern, where they performed a software update and it did not fix the issue. i feel the transmission shifting rough could cause an accident, if the engine in fact stalls and you lose control of the vehicle. i also feel being forced to accelerate could cause you to strike the vehicle in front of you or lose control it this occurs while negotiating a turn etc. the panoramic sunroof allows water to pass the rubber seal and drain into the water track. i frequently have had the windows fog up from moisture inside the passenger compartment and the odor of mold. if you google "2015 ford f-150 sunroof leaks", you will find 1000's of concerned ford owners on forums experiencing the same issues, where ford states it is normal for the sunroof to leak past the seal. i feel the sunroof is a health concern, as i believe mold may be growing in the truck and is being breathed in. i have been experiencing the seat back getting extremely hot while using the "cooled seat" feature. i feel this could cause a burn or fire hazard.
Windshield washer does not work as soon as any dirt bugs etc obscure vision i must stop and clean windshield with water i carry inside. this becomes very difficult in high traffic situations. it has been like this since i bought the vehicle ford says the part is under redesign and no date is available yet for a fix, it has been for over 2-3 months, yet they continue to sell new f-150s. are they waiting for a large number of bad accidents before they remedy the problem?
Nov 30, 2015: while traveling on interstate i-64, norfolk, va. during a heavy rain storm, both wiper blades stopped in the vertical position. i tried to turn the wipers off and attempted various other setting but the wipers remained stationary in the vertical position. dec. 2, 2015, dealer replaced the wiper motor to resolve the issue.
Carlite windshield - bought 2015 f-150 truck on sep. 28th, 2015 and had less than 1100 miles. stress crack from passenger a pillar running towards the driver's side about 5 inches and then down towards the cowl about 7 inches. i was p2232reviously plant manager at the ford nashville glass plant where w/s was made and this is the result of high residual thermal stress. ford warranty refuses after 4 submissions form the spradley barr (fort collins, co) dealership. i saw two more vehicles with the same type of stress crack in the lot, both 2015 used as loaner cars.
Quality control issue - loose side-view mirrors: this issue is not only a matter of quality, it raised a serious safety concern at the time. as i was driving away from the dealership (after purchasing this new truck) and increased my speed to over 55 mph, i noticed both of my side-view mirrors vibrating severely. they vibrated so badly that the images in the mirrors themselves were obscured to the point that the vehicles behind me were mere blurs. i took my truck to a local ford dealership to have a problem assessed the very next day. despite all of our efforts to reset the mirrors, it turned out that both units were missing something called a "tensioner," or "tension spring." the side-view mirrors were so loose that you could walk up to the truck and literally shake them back-and-forth (with a range of motion up to a 1/4") with one finger, exerting no effort at all. again, this is a serious quality concern and should've been identified and reconciled prior to delivery of the vehicle to the dealership. this tensioner component should have been installed in both mirrors prior to their being attached and connected to the body of the truck. this did not occur at the factory as it should have, nor was this issue discovered during the supposed quality checks that occur once the vehicles come off of the assembly line. when i contacted ford about my concerns, i asked them to extend the warranty on the truck, because who's to say that there are not more quality-related issues that would arise after my factory warranty expires (there was a secondary qc-related issue on the truck that isn't worth mentioning here except to say that it was obvious and involved another missing part). the arrogance i encountered from several representatives on the phone was beyond the pale of anything i've encountered from the company that is supposed to be is reputable as ford.
The image in the driver side rear view is distorted into dual or blurred image. it is difficult to capture while moving, but is, escalated when multiple vehicles and lanes are present. escalated even further in inclement and night driving conditions. the spot mirror is integrated with the main rearview mirror further distracting the driver from the road ahead as well as points to the same line of horizon that proves to be both driver and passenger rearview mirrors, making side and rear safety cushion observation ineffective and inefficient. many citizens install pick up bed truck caps to protect their belongings. the design of these mirrors alone is detrimental to safety observation. add in defective performance sits on the slope of reckless endangerment. which brings me to the indented signaling programed into the turn indicators. this indented feature promotes unsafe turning/lane change maneuvers. using the 100 ft. rule. it is impossible complete a safe lane change and share the road with other drivers in the time allotted 3 flashes. three before , three during and three after is pushing a less experienced driver. none the less is the accepted courteous driver rule, not to mention the rule of law. at the very least this mirror should have a warning of poor visual when installing truck cap and dealer should be required to warn prospect thereof. as well as the manufacturer needs to offer an optional application. safe cars save lives. this photo examines the defect occurring at center angle of mirror. the defect is more pronounced moving towards the edge. but definitely occurs before the line caused by auto dimming film. ( unable to upload photo) but available on request. update! 5/11/2017 as of now i am allowing fomco to repair and replace this defective mirror. i still believe it to be a safety design flaw and should be removed upon verification of towing intention.
The chrome accents on the ac vents causes a glare on the driver and passenger windows. this happens during the daytime or the nighttime. it has been a problem since i took ownership of truck.
Front windshield cracked. truck not moving, just sitting in the parking lot. i was in it. nothing hit it. very weird. i thought the whole thing was going to shatter. brand new truck, only 627 miles on it. any ideas? *tr
