I was driving up my driveway and my rear window made a load popping sound and completely shattered. there was no impact of any kind. there is also a noticeable electrical burning smell in the cab.
Electric rear tailgate falls down randomly while driving at speed or even while parked. tailgate has fallen 5-6 times while truck is parked in last few months and also 5+ times while car is driving. it has fallen while truck was in reverse, and while truck was traveling on country roads at speeds of ~40mph. please note - this issue seems identical to the one ford just announced a recall for on the 2017-2019 f-250 superduty trucks. it must be related. our truck was in the shop just last week before this recall was announced. this truck should be included in the recall the tailgate most recently fell 11/28/19
I have a small hole in the exhaust system between the engine and catalytic converters. crescent ford trucks, the dealer i purchased the vehicle from, said that the hole in the exhaust system was there by design to drain water. i cannot believe that the epa would be happy with a hole from which exhaust gases can escape before they are treated by the catalytic converter. hopefully i am reporting this to the right agency
Vehicle went into limp mode 4 times one day and 3 days later 8 times.faults were hill assist, advanced track, picture of wrench came on then engine light. limp mode is a serious accident waiting to happen as i was on a rural narrow road, had to stop vehicle put in park shut off engine. restart engine go a ways and limp mode again. if this happened on a large freeway or at an intersection it would be a serious accident. called dealership when it first happened they could not get me in for 8 days.
In early september of 2019, i was driving my 2015 ford f-150 on a major highway at about 65 mph. suddenly, the vehicle stalled and lost all power as the dashboard lite up with some kind of traction warning. i drifted to the side of the road and put it in parked. the whole vehicle shook significantly at this point. i turned the vehicle off and waited about 2minutes. i started the truck up and went on my way with no problem. (note: this incident was a serious safety issue as i was on a major roadway in heavy traffic. my 10 and 8 year old grandchildren were in the back seat). a few weeks and a couple hundred miles later, i was on a narrow mountain road going about 45 mph when the exact same thing happened. i took the truck to the ford dealer after both occurrences, but they could not find anything wrong with it, and said there was nothing they could do. i'm reluctant to drive it as this situation could cause an accident. it only has 42,000 miles on it and i use it to tow my travel trailer. i was not towing the trailer when these incidents occurred. i saw on your web site that several other people have had similar issues with the ford f-150. is there anything i can do about this? note that i bought the truck new in 2015 from the same dealer that i took it to for service. I bought this truck brand new from the dealer 8-2015. as of august 1, 2019 the truck stated vibrating between 50 mph and 75 mph while driving on the highways. i am getting a vibration from what appears to be my drive axle. it is most prominent when letting off the throttle and coasting from 75 mph to 50 mph. you can feel it in the steering wheel and you can also hear it.
Driving on highway at 60 mph, climbing slight incline, multiple warnings regarding hill assist, abs, traction control, etc. populate on dash. truck goes in to "limp" mode, steering becomes stiff and speed reduces until it comes to a rough idle.
While operating vehicle, electrical issue occurs that locks windows and turns off air conditioning. vehicle cabin becomes extremely hot very quickly. ford dealership unable to diagnose issue yet continually reoccurs. not safe to operate the vehicle until the issue can be corrected. a search of the internet revealed numerous similar issues occurring in ford trucks.
On wednesday, 6-26-19 at approx. 3:15 pm my truck was sitting in the driveway and had been parked there since approx. noon monday. temp. was in the low 90's with partial sun. the truck was sitting in partial shade. i got into the truck to run errands and shut the drivers side door. i then heard a pop and something moving. i couldn't figure out what was happening since i hadn't even started the engine yet. i looked backwards to where the sound was coming from and that's when i saw the entire rear window had exploded and was in a million pieces. shards were inside the truck, on the concrete, in the bed of the truck and in between the cab and the bed of the truck. most of the shards landed outside the cab. i have no idea what caused this. i've had the truck since it was new. first as my company work truck and then i purchased it as part of my retirement. the truck has never been in an accident and to my knowledge the rear window has never been damaged. the window was a solid can be heated. it exploded so bad there is really no picture needed. all that remains of glass is what is glued down on the edges. i'm getting it repaired tomorrow. local ford dealer service department acted like this was not their problem; one said we will fix it if your insurance will pay of it. another person said wow, that's unusual we can't help you, call ford customer service. i've seen many instances on the internet of the very same thing happening and also when the vehicle is moving. this is very dangerous. what would have happen if i had my grandchildren in their seats and that window did that. i got cut enough just cleaning up the mess.
The factory/ dealer installed tow brake controller does not apply enough brake power to stop trailer. when towing my 5th wheel(10000lbs)it works fine when i manually apply the override button but when i apply the brake pedal the trailer brakes don't get the command to engage with enough power to stop trailer, my truck is doing almost all of the braking. i have read online where many ford f 150 owners are having similar issues. ford says there is nothing wrong. i have been towing using the manual override switch or learning to slam on the brakes to stop. the trailer brakes do work almost when i slam on the brake pedal. i am sure that this shouldn't be happening because it's not safe.
Started my truck using remote start. roughly 45-55 secs later, i get in my truck and the rear passenger area is filled with smoke. i shut off vehicle. i smelled burned electrical wires. i wasn't able to detect anything out of the norm. roughly 5-7 mins later, my back glass shattered. truck was stationary.
I was driving to work with no other cars around me when i heard a loud bang and my back window shaddered without anything hitting it. i was driving on a smooth highway that was just redone 2 years ago
Floored throttle to pass slower traffic on highway and engine did not return to normal rpm. instead, the engine continued run at 4,000 rpm until i was able to bring vehicle to a stop and use key to turn off engine. upon restarting all was normal.
My sunroof leaks every time it rains and leaves my roof, carpet, and seats wet and smelling of mildew. i have already paid nearly $1000 to have the sunroof replaced and it still leaks.
Engine stalls at idle in park and at stop lights. sometimes it's bad and sometimes not as much or can go days without doing it.
Crew cab driver side rear door lock is a safety hazard. when doors are locked the rear door lock release button is not accessible.. one is unable to unlock a locked door from the rear seat. in an accident there is no access to the unlock button in the driver's compartment
During extreme cold the door latches freeze and can either not be opened or once opened will not latch closed. this has happened twice now. the vehicle had been sitting in the driveway overnight both times. there had not been precipitation for 24 hours prior to either event. after manually positioning the latches they would catch. on the second occasion they opened again. it was both rear doors both times. both times the ambient temperature was in the teens with windchills below zero.
Vehicle was stationary in parking lot. truck bed illumination lights on third brake light assembly over heated and melted third brake light assembly. the lights come on when the doors are open, and there is no way to turn them off without closing the doors.
Exploding rear window november 2018 our rear sliding window exploded (shattered) for no reason while driving on the freeway. called ford but there was no recall. after some research i see that this happened to other f150s as well.
Only 53,00 miles on it . when i turn key to start it, it whirls, i turn it to off position & then it usually will go ahead & start. what can be wrong with that low mileage?
While using the adaptive cruise control on my 2015 ford f-150 (king ranch), my truck will confuse a dump truck as a stopped or slow moving vehicle in front of my truck. this will happen if a dump truck is in the lane beside me or in opposing lanes. this occurs at sow and high speeds. multiple times this has occurred at 65mph+ in traffic. the truck will very abruptly apply the breaks and the collision warning system will alert. this has almost caused very serious wrecks due to the speeds that it often occurs. this is also not a seldom occurance, it happens every time i pass by a dump truck. it will occur on any and every street. i took the vehicle to a ford delearship and their solution had no effect on the issue.
Traveling north on i-85 in ga at 72 mph; about 3 miles south of exit 28. medium rain and temp in the mid to upper 60's. the tire failed on the left rear and blessed that i could drive on the median about 225 ft. there was not any road hazards, strictly tire failure!! my wife is eye witness.
I have a ford f150 lariat that is not 33 months old, however i have 49k miles. i had to replace my moonroof (out of warranty because of the mileage, which should have nothing to do with the moonroof). that cost me $2,155 in september 2017. on 4/17/18, my replacement made the same awful sound and is broken again the moonroof makes a loud cracking sound like it will break. it then gets stuck open or closed, but sometimes not fully closed. you have to push it with your hand while pushing the button sometimes to get it to seal shut in the case of rain or overnight. there is a lot of research on this and this is quite regular for ford moonroofs. they should recall and reimburse me for the $2.1k i spent.
Tailgate dropping on its own after driving on wet roads and also happened inside a car wash.
Vehicle lost power and flashed 3 warning messages. 1) hill start assist not available. 2) see manual. 3) service advance trac. in addition the service engine light stays on. all of this happened while i was making a left turn in traffic almost causing a collision. this is the second time it has happened. after first time dealer was contacted and service department reported no problems found. appointment currently scheduled to look at it again.
I have a moon roof that has never been open. it's making a sound like something is rattling. i went to open it for the first time since i bought it to see if the noise would stop. but it wont open. i took it into ford and they said i needed to replace the whole thing.? why do i need too? ford needs to take responsibility and fix the cheap parts they tried to get by with.
Sadly, we feel we have purchased a lemon occasionally engine or transmission squeals/grinds, if accelerate too quickly/power up.,and now, on cold days [temps low 40s & under] hear rubbing/grinding whirring at left front tire? gets louder when depress brake, and can feel in brake pedal. sound occurs during slow forward speed 2-40 mph, on gravel driveway or paved road. scheduled service today for noise; they were more interested in fixing recall item [locks - rpr time 3+hrs], if they had parts in stock. recall srvc completed [under 1 hr], and "no noise was heard." i requested further look for cause of noise, service advisor said quick lane would check suspension?. 2 hrs later, nothing seen, nothing heard, nothing repaired. as i pulled away from dealership, having signed off on service, the truck immediately began making the noise [funny serv advsr didn't hear when he brought truck around?]. i drove less than 1/10 mile back to dealership, took the service advisor for ride; at which point he acknowledged he heard noise, but tried to assure me it's a 'tire issue.' my husband and i believe otherwise - this is not tire noise, the noise never crescendos or changes pitch with increase or decrease speed, on gravel or asphalt, and we have never felt 'tire noise' in brake pedal. this noise/friction merely ceases after you've driven a few minutes [for now]. service advisor assured me i was not doing any further damage to truck, continuing to drive it without resolution to the problem. i asked him if i needed new tires, he said indeed not, mine are in great shape [original tires] with 63,000 miles on them [but it's a tire issue?]. something's up [similar concerns have been raised in forums on the internet- along with dealer dismissal/failure to resolve. we want our truck repaired [resolution of these mechanical failures] while it's under warranty, or we want a new vehicle.
2015 ford f150 supercrew door latch recall. the door latch is known to fail , ford issued a service bulletin for this issue in spring of 2016. the drivers door on my wifes 2015 f150 flew open after leaving our driveway about 150 yards from our home. ford is aware of the issue and sent no notice to us, the door still won't close the truck has been sittin for over a week now. ford keeps telling us we have to work with the dealer we bought it from, i asked them how i would even get the truck back there to fix when i can't shut the doors, and their answer was the same, you will have to work that out with your ford dealer.when they were asked is ford going to pay to have it towed, again they said you will have to work that out with your dealer.i may have to wait as long as 3 or more weeks before the dealer gets the parts, but the truck can not be driven.????? what am i suppose to do!???
Door latches fail to function in cold weather resulting in doors failing to latch closed also at times doors fail to unlock in cold temperatures due to internal locking mechanisms to icing up.
4wd issues. while driving -goes in and out of full time 4wd for no reason. becomes hard to steer and often pulls to one side or another. when i want to be in 4wd-a (automatic/awd) it will not allow me to shift back out or it will stay in 4wd-h full time. even when i come to stop it will not shift out of 4wd despite indicator saying that it has.
Tail gate latch fails to latch in weather 20 degrees or lower. causing tail gate to drop unexpently while driving causing the latch to brake.
While driving on the highway at 75 mph the truck shuttered violently and the engine shut down. immediately it flashed a warning that the "hill climb assist" malfunctioned followed immediately by a wrench symbol notifying that service was needed then another warning about the advance trac system then back to the hill climb assist symbol. all of this happening while the car behind me is almost sideways trying to avoid me. i eventually made it to the right shoulder of the highway. as i read the various warnings it said to refer to the owners manual with regards to the hill climb assist. i turned the ignition off, pulled out the owners manual only to find a description of the hill climb assist feature. after waiting for about 5 minutes i decided to turn on the ignition. the truck started without issue and i continued home cautiously in the far right lane.
My truck odometer shows i have 26582 miles on the truck. and the engine hours shows i have 867 hours. however rusty wallace service department said i have 63000 miles according to the pcm!!! i have transmission problems and they do not want to fix the truck under warranty. i content that the truck is still under warranty i have not done anything to the odometer. i have pictures that show i was doing 72 miles a hour and on the digital speedometer but the other speedometer showed i was doing 90 miles a hour. i parked the truck and it stilled showed i was doing 20 mph. i have attached the photos.
Ignition cylinder /key lockout/ occurances 3 times in two years when trying to start vehicle of trying to remove key from ignition
On oct 23, 2017 my 2015 ford f150 steering locked while driving on california highway 273. stopped truck and had to force steering wheel hard to the right to get steering to break loose. also, all electric devices on steering wheel failed to operate. display on dash flashed many different system failures. unable to turn off key until steering wheel broke loose. on the morning of oct 24, 2017 all worked okay but took truck to dealer.
Back up camera turns off while f150 is still moving backward.
Adaptive cruise control occasionally causes f 150 to make an emergency stop even though there is nothing in front of truck on a clear, sunny day. the truck was doing 70-75 mph 3 times when this occurred.
The 2-panel moon roof that came installed with the truck has malfunctioned. it is rarely used but at about 40k miles (while stationary), the glass would not close properly. after manipulation, i was able to get it closed but it will not open again. it sounds as if there was "crunching" of plastic on plastic as the roof closed. the rear edge of the front glass will tilt but not fully. i have contacted ford and they are aware that it is an issue due to inferior parts but have failed to issue a recall on the issue. i have researched the issue and have noticed that many other owners have the same complaint and some have experienced the glass shattering.
Ford is discontinuing the safety feature sync my ford touch service which was part of the purchase agreement. this is a safety feature of the vehicle providing operator assistance, traffic alerts, turn by turn directions, and other safety related services. they are not offering a replacement or option to upgrade to the new sync 3 service. i am being cheated on what i purchased as described on the window sticker and in the owner's manual.
When goimg through any automatic car wash water shoots in rear part of panoramic sunroof, ford says this si normal. it causes enough water to get in whwn it is hot or cold out to condensate on the windows. it is on rear seal of moonroof driver side.
Alarm will randomly go off when car is locked. this includes the hazard lights flashing with no alarm going off. i know of two other ford owners who have the same make and model and their trucks also do this.
Upon walking up to my car to go to the gym i noticed that my rear window was completely shattered but in one single piece. there was no sign of impact. as soon as i opened a door the entire window collapsed. this was on a hot day and truck was not on , parked on a city street not in motion. i reached out to ford and they said they won't cover it. this happened before on the rear passenger side window.
Rear window shattered when using defroster - remote started vehicle. vehicle was in driveway and i was right beside it when i heard the rear window make a pop sound.
Door locks/latches. i live in canton, michigan and whenever the outside temperature drops below 32 degrees the locks fail to open and/or close. i am unable to open the door from the interior and/or exterior when this occurs. the doors locks also fail to catch when trying to close the doors and securing them. this is a extremely unsafe issue, especially if the car is involved in a motor vehicle crash and the occupants in the vehicle need to get out. ford is telling me that the interior door hood does not properly keep water off the interior working parts of the door causing the parts to freeze and become inoperable. i am being told replacement parts are unavailable until late march 2017. this needs to be addressed and a recall ordered. this is continuing to happen to me this winter and also did during the winter months of 2015 into 2016. ford initially was adding lube to all the working parts in a attempt to keep them from seizing up but that is not working because every time they lube the parts up within a day or two the door is malfunctioning once again.
Rear window shatter after using rear defroster. car parked. used remote start. window shattered upon door close after entering car.
The power locks on my truck to not operate properly. some times they will not unlock and some times that will not lock. this morning i unlock the drivers door and go to the store, i get to the store and unlock the rear drivers door. i come back out of the store and only 1 door of the 4 doors would unlock, (drivers door) i reach across and open the passenger door from the inside, put the groceries and then the passenger side door will not lock.
I was traveling at highway speeds on the roadway when i heard a bang, like a gun shot. i pulled over and discovered my rear windshield had shattered. it had been rather the cold the night before, i did have the front defrost on but not the rear defrost. i observed nothing suspicious or unusal about the back of the truck area or top of cab. further, there were no obvious holes or other markings.
Sunroof shattered while parked in our garage. the glass is bowed upward indicating the sunroof was not hit by anything from the outside. temperate outside was in the teens.
The door/latches when the weather is cold the doors will not open, the latches break, the locks wont go up or down and you are either locked out r locked in and cannot open the doors in case of emergency. also- the latches don't work in cold weather so the doors will not close and they fly open while driving. my real issue is that according to the tsb ford company knew of this problem on the 2015 f150s in april of 2015 and i did not buy this truck until december of 2015! that is 8 months!! and it has happened to not only 2015s but also 2016s and 2017s! this should have been a recall. ford is getting away with it because it only happens in cold weather months and not to every ford truck. the tsb numbers are - ford tsb 16-0155 for 2015-2017 f150 door latch & locking in cold weather and ford tsb # 15-0052: here is a link to a site where there are multiple complaints in the forum https://www.fordf150.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=123522. i have video of the doors not closing after they say they fixed it. i will put a date of occurence below, but this has happened multiple times and the truck was also fixed two times for this reason, problems still persist.
I was unable to open my 2015 ford f150 power doors using the key fob, door code buttons, or grip handle sensors. this was most concerning because the issue started with the rear doors; this caused my child to become stuck in the vehicle. the temperature was below freezing at this time. if i had not been able to release the door this would have been an immediate safety issues to my young children. this issue has since progressed to all doors becoming dysfunctional. my vehicle is now at the ford dealership. my vehicle was both stationary and in motion at the time of incident on city streets and freeway. if i had been in an accident and quickly needed to extract my children from the vehicle the issue of the doors not functioning and freezing could have put my and my children's well fare at extreme risk.
