Problems with 2013 Ford F-150 UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2013 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 65 243 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2013 Ford F-150

The truck has a 3 pane, power slide, and defrost rear window. the rear window on the passenger side randomly shattered. the window itself did not fall out and didn't visually have any marking suggesting a forced entry or impact. the vehicle was stationary in a parking spot all day while at work. the truck was also back up to a wall so it is very unlikely that anything could have hit it. the truck was parked directly under a security camera and after review of the footage, no evidence was found as to what could have caused it. the window itself is still intact (as shown in the attached picture) like the outside layers are holding it together. the weather that day was very cold in the morning and got relatively warm throughout the day. i noticed the broken window at the end of the day when leaving work. this window is being repaired this coming monday for $699 + tax so i do not have any copies of the invoice yet. my insurance also had a higher deductible than what this is going to cost so i chose to cover it out of pocket.

Wrench (check engine) comes on for unknown reason and vehicle looses all throttle ability! has come on 7 times. has occurred driving at 25 up to 65 mph. today i was in the fast lane wrench came on and shut down throttle. i managed to cross 3 lanes in traffic. each time this has occurred i've stopped and shut off the engine. the restarted & runs fine. taken to ford as well as private mechanics but no codes saved. has happened 6 times. ford told me they cant fix without a code.

Insulation coming out of tail pipe

Left side of power sliding rear window shattered while driving. no other visible damage to vehicle, and no impact point apparent on glass. co-worker with 2014 f150 was stopped at a light on the same day and exact same thing happened

My husband and i were driving down the road and suddenly our 2013 ford f150 starts clunking noise and hard jerking making the nose of the truck will pull down really hard when it does this. we are driving 65mph down the highway when this happened almost causing us to crash. suddenly after this occured the ford f150 starts acting like the transmission was slipping with only 64,000 miles on it . tempurature started going up so we pulled over and called a friend to come tow us home. we got home and the truck wont reverse off the trailor. we finally get it off the trailor and take it to the ford buisness in my town on the way there it acts like its stuck in first gear. we get it back from the ford dealership and they tell uhs that the transmission is stuck in reverse. that when they start fhe truck it wants to take off like its stuck in gear even in reverse and then tell us that we will have to replace the transmission that was recently put in mind you it ran fine before the loud noise and sudden changing of gears at 65 mph.. so why shouldnt ford have to fix it.

2 months after purchasing my used 2013 f150 super crew i noticed the 'low pressure oil' flash at random times. it flashes for 2 secs and goes away. i started researching and found other owners like myself are having the same issue. some cases involved the vehicle shutting down during their drive. my vehicle is only at 62k miles. please help. this is my livelihood , thank you.

I started my truck and the wrench light came on. the truck was in limp mode and would not accelerate. i restarted the truck and was able to pull it back in the driveway. i plugged in an obd code reader and it gave a p2112 "throttle actuator control system stuck closed." upon some research i found several models between 2011 through 2015 have had similar issues causing dangerous situations on the highway. the issue was moving when it first occurred, but thankfully it was just outside my driveway, i hadnt made it to the highway yet. i restarted the truck, and was able to park it in the driveway.

I have a 2013 ford f-150 super white has 160,405. the timing chain needs to be replace i have seen plenty of comments online about people timing chain going out is there a recall on this problem.

When entering onto the interstate i felt the truck was not getting up to speed. i then noticed on my dashboard a big wrench. i felt my truck continue to not gain speed even though i was stepping on the gas.the screen then went black and and when the dashboard came back on i had nothing showing. no mph ,fuel economy, etc and i was stuck in 5th gear.i could not increase speed but only decrease if i stepped on the break.i don't know how fast i was going but it was not fast at all since everyone was passing me(maybe 40 mph).i also noticed my airbag light was on. i had to pull over on the interstate and restart my truck.once i did that everything came back on and worked for the rest of the ride. i was recently part of a ford recall but had that fixed.i had the automatic downshifting happen to me 3 times before the first recall was in place. i just got a letter last week that they need to redo the recall, i had the downshifting happen to me and this was not it. this is a entirely different safety issue that is making me afraid to drive my own truck since most of my time is on the interstate. photos are attached of what was happening to me on the interstate.

I received notice of recall to schedule repair (software) upgrade. i contacted the dealer several times to only be told to keep calling back to see if they have received the software upgrade from ford. they said there is no problem with continuing to drive the truck until the problem is repaired.

My vehicle was in motion on the interstate traveling at about 65 mph and my vehicle did an unintended downshift to first gear almost costing me my life. cars managed to miss me and i narrowly made it to the shoulder to a safe place to recover. the car continued to jerk in similar fashion as attempt to exit the interstate to get to a service center. the vehicle was unable to safely make it to the nearest ford service center so i called a tow through geico roadside assistance. the tow took me to auto nation ford and there they explained to me that the issue i experienced was due to a recall that they are currently fixing; however, when they saw that i had a 2013 ford f150 model, he immediately apprised me of the fact that ford did not have the software yet to reprogram the powertrain control module to prevent the unintended downshift. the representative then told me there was another recall in the system for this vehicle that he could do, but it would not remedy the initial situation. my vehicle is not drivable and i asked when ford would have a remedy for this. he stated that it was supposed to be this current quarter, but they had not received the information to do the reprogram. now, i am without a vehicle due to no fault of my own. i think they should give me a loaner or pay for a rental car, because they have no timeline as to when this recall remedy will be available.

My truck shifts from 6 gear to 3rd gear while driving in the city and on the highway

I was on my way home from mt on the interstate and heard a loud pop and then saw a small black piece in the rear view mirror. i then heard noise from the moon roof, i pulled over and discovered that the moon roof exploded , nothing hit it!

Serious vibration at or around 45 to 70mph . steering wheel vibration , front end vibration . usually around the time the transmission temp hits the normal temp truck starts vibrating . usually starts at 40mph and gets worst with higher mph . bought the truck back in nov of 2018 all was fine till about 2 months ago when the vibration started . not very happy.

Nhtsa recall 19v-075. recall caused failure in transmission. problem did not exist prior to recall update. supplement #1 issued 5/15/2019 indicated my 5-liter engine with a 6r80 transmission should not have been upgraded with recall 19so7. each time i use my truck tow /haul and brake on a grade, the transmission downshifts to second gear and will not exit until i turn off the tow/haul function. dealer marshall ford o'fallon mo, tells me don't use function. i find this most inconvenient, considering i have driven this vehicle five years towing my boat without a prior incident. now it happens every time. i am getting no response from ford corporate or dealer since first communique. they have assigned me a case #2170, but that is all. my fear at this point i will damage this transmission and be left with the repairs.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while the vehicle was parked, the contact heard a clicking noise emerging from the fuse box inside the cabin. the vehicle lost all electrical capability and the air bag warning indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the failure occurred two other times. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

Vehicle always in motion, appears to lose power, wrench light comes on, odometer has dash lines, speedometer falls to 0, and other mpg digital sensors, distance to empty sensor and air bag failure all happen simultaneously. occasionally the truck seems to have power loss at lower speeds. tachometer continues to work. a few times shutting ignition off and turning on again all goes back to normal. recently had recall software upgrade completed but the problem occurred just 4 days later as i was turning onto freeway. before the recall work was done i took vehicle to local shop i trust, there were multiple codes found. i had the service tech i had clear the codes. all incidents have occurred at speeds less than 30. all seem to be associated with loss of power and noise from transmission.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while operating the vehicle, the engine suddenly shut off and was difficult to restart. upon inspection, it was discovered that the 20 amp fuse #27 had burned and was melted. franklin ford (175 east central st, franklin, ma) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 106,300.

Sitting in my driveway before i left so the truck was stationary and turned on my rear window defrost and heard a load bang, noticed the passenger rear panel of my sliding rear window window shattered.

the night i picked up my truck (3/4/19) it lost signal to output speed sensor before i got to the intersection of route 30 and 340 and was stuck in fifth gear the whole way home. the truck has been losing speed sensor signal and locking itself in either third gear or fifth gear repeatedly all day long ever since. today (3/11/19) it shifted to first gear while going 55 mph and put the truck into a slide/skid twice - both times in traffic, once put me into oncoming traffic.

I used the remote starter in the morning to warm up my truck. as i entered the driver side door and sat down i heard a loud pop almost like a small gun fired. shortly after i could hear the crunching of the rest of my back window shattering. i could also smell smoke inside the vehicle. after checking on line it seems this is a common issue with the rear de-froster.

The car had recall which was repaired but system still shows like i have that recall. dealer did nit update it in system

Transmision problem from 1st gear downshift and power loss from acceleration having the truck slow down abuptly.

This morning at about 5:30 am i left to go to the gym and had no problems with my truck. i get home about 7:00 am grab my stuff out of the back and no problems with my truck. before leaving for work about a half hour later i auto started the truck. i get to the truck to leave for work and i notice my driver side rear window is completely shattered! i did a little research and come to find that this is a reoccurring problem with ford. either there is a defect with the window or with rear defrost getting to hot or staying on to long. there were little bits of glass on the seat, what if someone was sitting in the back and the whole window shatters? this is not safe and needs to be fixed!

Rear window shattered on its own with no impact. vehicle was sitting in driveway and had been started with remote start. rear defroster on.

I was driving on february 12th 2019 and had my defrosters when all of a sudden i heard a loud pop and looked in the rearview mirror to see my back window shattered right over my 2 year old daughter. this is the second time that this has happened in the past 3 years. i stopped and got out and touched the window and burnt my hand with how hot it was.

Recall been fixed but its still shows as opened in the system

The transmition when driving will suddenly shift down to 1st gear then 2nd gear. it will get stuck on 2nd gear. this happened 3 times to my vehicle. 1st time was at traffic light accelerate then suddenly it shifted down from 5th to 1st and 2nd. at the same day i was driving on a highway and the truck shfited down from 5th gear so fast i thought i got hit by a car. i had 2 more dangerous incidents. the second one was in motion going about 60 mph. the third one was in motion going about 30 mph.

January 28, 2019 rear electric sliding window (3 piece unit) shattered for no reason. no one hit it, throw anything at it, or shot it. the sound does sound like a someone shot at you. the truck was sitting in the drive warming up as usual (electric start), get in, close the door and boom the driver side rear window panel shatters. take it back to the place we bought it and they told us there was nothing they could do. warranty would not cover either. safelight ordered us a window, installed it, and proceeded to tell us that this has happen to many ford trucks before. we were dodge truck people until the air bag recall, changed to ford and this happens, whats next? this seems like a big problem when ford has numerous people complaining about the same problem all over the u.s. this has happened once, will it happen again? i sure hope not. if it should happen when i have my children with me or my elderly parents with me, god forbid they should get hurt by glass, i will be suing. or even cause me to have an accident while driving.

Transmission is jumping into first hear and neutral on it's own. can't drive it without this not happening

On 12/31/18 i was operating my vehicle listed in this complaint. while operating i had the rear defroster activated. i arrived home and backed into to my driveway. while reversing i heard a loud pop come from my back window. the entire window was shattered. the window sets in front of the truck bed and did not come into contact with any foreign object. on 1/5/19 while getting the window repaired chafing was found on the defroster wires on the broken window. i called ford, they advised this was a common problem with f150s but it did not have a recall. i should be reimbursed for my expenses since i did not damage the window. this was not a cheap fix, the shattered glass was popped out from the inside.

I was driving back from the gas station around 2230 hrs on a winter night. i was going about 35 mph on a city street when i suddenly heard a very loud bang; literally sounded like a gunshot, i quickly looked around, but i didn't notice anything at the time. it was dark at my house when i got home, i walked around the truck but didn't see anything obvious at the time. when i came out the next morning i got into my truck and looked in the rear view mirror and noticed the rear window on the driver side was shattered, no hole, no pieces missing, no obvious signs it was struck. the window is actually bow out a bit like the force was from the inside.

We have had the back door lock freeze and cannot unlock back doors. we are replacing passenger back door lock for second time and have replaced driver side back door lock once. this is very dangerous as doors cannot be opened from inside and if in accident it could cause a death. there needs to be an investigation into this matter. three times replacing locks is too much!

When i accelerate on the highway to merge or pass my truck looses power completely can not accelerate. it shudders for about 45 seconds check engine light comes on flashing and it suddenly comes back to life. i took it to my local ford and they said it was a high pressure pump that needed to be replaced. i replaced it and it is still having the same issue. this seems to be a common issue with these trucks. the more research i have done the more i find about this same issue. ford should be held liable and recall these trucks for this problem. i now have to take it to another ford dealership hoping they can figure it out. last ford truck i will ever own.

I have a 2013 f-150 ecoboost. i was driving about 50 mph last night, 12/3/18 when it suddenly downshifted, causing the rear brakes to lock and tires squealed. i lurched forward in the seat. the speedometer went down and then back up to 50. it lasted all but seconds. i was able to drive home. i have left it in the garage since it is unsafe to drive at this point until i can get it to the garage. thankfully the road was dry otherwise i would have skidded out of control. i have about 110,000 miles on the truck. this has not happened before. the past few weeks however it has occasionally not shifted out of 1st or has started in 5th gear. this has been sporadic only. occasionally, when i start off, it will lurch forward. the vehicle has been maintained and has generally been a very good performing vehicle.

Heater/air blower caught on fire. there was not an obstruction causing the fan/blower to over heat. i caught it soon after the fire started so was able to put it out before the entire vehicle was on fire. the vehicle was stationary in my front driveway and had just started it running to warm up.

Active recall. tranny will search for gear, disengage then violently downshift. rpms peg at 6,500+ violent jerking. ford says safe to drive?? no solution yet. this engine will blow at highway speeds, tranny likely damaged significantly from downshift to 1st @ 75mph. this is safe? i drive most high speed mileage. problem worse when cruise control engaged. dealer refuses to touch the vehicle. sometimes truck tranny willnot engage from park, no speedo output but rpms register. selector output may read 5 or 6 gear from park. called ford....csr initially played dumb until i cited recall #. when my engine blows or tranny beyond repair, will ford fix??

Rear glass shattered while vehicle was parked. nothing impacted the glass. glass is still intact in the vehicle. hate to think if a child was in a carseat and the glass all fell out on top of them. i have read numerous complajnts about this happening and that ford has denied any responseability. it is defenitly a problem

Vehicle stalls while driving and won't restart for hours. this has happened 3 times since may and twice since september 2018. each time it has been taken to a ford dealership and the ford dealer says that they can find nothing wrong that can be recreated. i have stalled out on an 8 lane highway. this was an extremely dangerous occurrence. i recently had the entire truck serviced, from oil change to throttle body cleaning to spark plugs to transmission cleaned, axles cleaned. all of this was done mid august 2018 and still has not fixed the issue. i have 102,367 miles on my vehicle. when i looked to see if there were others with this issue, i found that there were many and that ford is refusing to issue a recall to repair this extremely dangerous and hazardous malfunction. i am sitting on the roadway right at the moment, waiting for aaa to tow my truck to the dealership.

Went to pass on highway in my 2013 f150 with a 6.2l engine, and the throttle stuck wide open causing me to accelerate up to 80+ mph. it did not decelerate for about 1 min. i had to avoid hitting other vehicles.

I took my truck into red mccombs ford in san antonio, tx because i had issues with my transmission. i can be driving and it would rev up to 4k rpm without my foot on the acceleration. there are times when i'm driving and it drops into 1st and jars me when it bogs down. took it in and we paid almost $1000 for repairs to fix it since i feared for my safety. it felt like i had no control of my vehicle. that was in sept 2018..here we are march 2019 having the same issues. i tried taking it in, but they did not have the offer of a loaner vehicle while they fixed again, so i have had no choice but to drive my truck still. i love my truck...but this is scary driving like this. i don't have a choice because i have to get to work daily. i need a reliable vehicle per i had major surgery last sept and have had 2 emergency room trips since and cannot afford to get in a wreck or have my truck go out with my health issues. i'm afraid all the jerking is going to cause me issues with my back and safety of my family. i have had to pull over and restart truck to get it to quit revving up, and not rear ending someone.

I have a 2013 f150 and have a loud noise coming from the engine. after my mechanic looked into it he said it is the timing chain rattling at start up. the truck has only 52000 miles on it. barely broke in and now has a rough idle and loss of power when driving. my mechanic came up with 4 different codes showing camshaft and crankshaft position correlations. turbo charger under rest. system to rich bank 1 & 2 and misfire detected at start up. this is a 2013 truck with 52000 miles and ford is telling me it probably isn't under warranty and could cost around $3500 or more to fix. i see they have had problems with this same issue with the 2011 & 2012 f150s. internet is full of this same issue. how can they get away with it for 3 years and no recall?

Tsb 14-0017 intercooler humidity issue this should be a recall issue

Sunroof explosion. while driving with my family on i-75 the sunroof suddenly exploded. fortunately the cover was shut or glass would've flown into the truck. there was no overpass or cars nearby. the photos show the glass exploded out, not in as would happen if something dropped on it from the sky. it sounded like a bomb went off. the sunroof is completely shattered.

Ford used cheap plastic tracking for their moonroofs. these components are now failing regularly creating an issue with water leaking into the passenger compartment adversely affecting electrical components and potentially airbags. once the track system is damaged, the moonroof will not seal/close. this fault happened on my particular vehicle while the truck was in motion.

Rear glass shattered due to defroster issue during remote start. this issue was not do to human error and solely the responsibility of ford motor company's defect in the rear defroster/glass

Engine stalls out periodically. very dangerous in heavy traffic. this happens every time while in motion not sitting still. this is the eco boast 6 cylinder engine. has been numerous reports with others but ford still won't issue a recall on these engines. it has 89350 miles on it. i'm going to change the plugs & boots this weekend but i'm sure that will not solve my problem. ford is being stubborn on recalls. hopefully no one gets hurt in these vehicles before they issue the recall. thanks nhtsa.

Reported this problem before and now it getting worse it was just the transimission shifting from high gear 6 at 70 mpg in cruise and when i tap the breake peddle to disengage the cruise it dowm shifted to low 1 and the rpm went from 2500 to 6500 and stay in low until i came to a stop then everything went back to normal it now also blown transimission lines and when i take off from a side street of stop light it will take off ok then about the time i reach the center of the street it will sfift into nuteral i can step or pump the gas peddle but nothing happens it just goes into a slow role after 3 to 5 sec it then jumps into gear and takes off normal again also at slow speeds you can hear and feel it clunking into and out of gear and with a metallic sound some times once in the snow had it in 4x4 at parked it and turned it off the next day i back it out of the drive then shifted it into drive then the transfer case shifted it out of 4x4 and it sounded like 2- 8 lbs sledge hammers smashing together and jarring the hole truck this in the beginning has only happen a few times but i was on the freeways at hi speeds i dont drive it on the freeways now and because the dealer ships want a $100 each time i take it in for the same problem and they dont do anything and plus i paid eatra for the platinum warrenty so if i have to leave it i get a loner and i have even been able to get a loner even when it took them over a week to install the transmission lines after they blow out from stop and going in on residential streets also when the trucks shift from high to low you can hear the solenoids shifting all overe under the dash floor infront of the seat along with the dash light flashing even one with a eng with a trans attached

Started about 1 1/2 months ago, while driving at speed, vehicle felt like it shifted into neutral. did not happen again til the next week. then was taking off at a light and it had no pick up. took into shop, no codes in computer, topped off transmission fluid. $97. following week went to pass a vehicle and the truck lost power and started to shake, engine light flashing. brought back to shop. still no code, but they changed spark plugs and fuel system flush. $440. was driving down the road rpm up to 3000, would not change if i pressed on gas or not, transmission shifting from 1-3 in random order. felt like brakes were locking up. driving 50 mph, rpm to 5000, speedometer from 50 to zero back to 50, brakes lock up. pulled over, shut off truck, restarted no problem. took to dealer i bought from, no codes could not help. took to ford dealer, said transmission lead frame needs repair $900, and main rear seal leaking badly. never was i low on oil or had an oil spot. looked up online several hundred of same vehicle with the same issues. no recall. ford said nothing they could do because warranty is up and it is not their problem now.

Speed sensor. when driving you could be stopped or moving at a high rate of speed for example i was going 50mph when the truck shifted into first causing the truck to come almost to a complete stop almost causing an accident. at other times wheb you start the truck it will shift from 1st gear to 5th gear and the wrench indicator will appear on dash while everything else turns to dashes (mileage etc). the speedometer will then show zero even while still moving.
