Air conditioning has a leak on evaporator. vehicle was only 4 years old when discovered. but out of warranty
Truck was automatic started and idling in driveway parked. driver rear window (nearest the truck bed) exploded and shattered into many pieces. had my daughter been sitting in her car seat she could have been harmed.
It was 3:30pm in the afternoon 43 when my passenger rear window shattered out of the blue driving home from my mothers house. scared me thought i got shot i duct under the dash quickly and looked around to realize that my passenger rear window was shattered.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving, the rear window exploded without warning. the vehicle was taken to performance ford lincoln (906 nj-10, randolph, nj 07869) and the contact was informed that nothing could be done. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that he would have to pay for the repair. case number: 1437259 was opened. the failure mileage was 88,000.
After using rear defrost, left side of the rear window shattered with a loud pop, sending bits of glass onto pax in the back seat. after reading online this is a known issue with this model of truck and needs to be a safety recall.
Truck was parked in the driveway. when i started it in the morning, the rear defrost light did not tun on after pressing the button, then the rear window shattered.

Heading east on hwy 18 at 55 mph between cobb and edmund wi, which is a very straight, smooth section of highway, i heard a very loud bang. i thought i must have lost a chunk of ice underneath the truck, but it was so loud, i was skeptical that was truly it. my rear window defrost light flickered on and off a few times during the drive, but i didn't notice until i got to work (about 8 miles later) that the rear window on the driver's side was completely shattered, but still intact with the frame. immediately drove to the dealership where i was told they've heard of this, but there is no recall. i have a friend who owns a body shop and he suggested i cover the shattered glass with crash wrap, so i took it there and they did so. if i had a child in the back seat, they could have had hearing damage from the loud pop that occurred. i'm very upset that they are aware of the problem, which has persisted over 7 years according to research, and have done nothing to remedy the situation or provide compensation for repairs.
Neither of the rear doors open from the inside or out if the truck has been double locked with the clicker remote. this is not an isolated incident and it takes several days for the locks to reset and the doors to open.
While the vehicle was stationary, i was unable to close the sunroof. the dealer diagnosed the plastic guide on track broke. after doing some research this appears to be very common for 2010-2014 f150. this needs to be addressed by ford. thank you.
Low brake fluid light on when brake fluid is full. brakes not working at low speeds. sometimes when pushing brakes you feel abs kick in at low speeds. very hard to stop.
On tuesday 01/09/2013 husband was driving into work heard a loud pop sound. looked back and noticed that the rear driver's side window was shattered.
At approximately 50 miles per hour the vehicle shifts from 5th gear to 1st gear locking the rear wheels the vehicle then has to be shut off and restarted to proceed other times when leaving a stop the vehicle will not shift out of first or fifth gear when speaking with ford customer service they say park the vehicle they may have a fix in june
The windshield washer nozzle freezes shut. fluid in the reeavor is ok and the lines going from the resevor to the nozzle is soft and not frozen. the fluid is protected to -35 and the temp was only -10. my friend has a 2014 f150 and it does the same. it's dangerous cause we can't clean the windshield. it happens if the veh is moving or not.
One of the 3 rear windows simply shattered for no reason. ford will not stand behind this issue that im finding is much too common. th vehicle was not moving in my driveway. it was noticed the morning before heading to work.
Truck would turn over but not start , no fuel was making it to spark as fuse for fuel pump had melted into fuel box and damaged it. this is a faulty setup and needs to be address before someones life is taken or injured badly.
I remote started my truck with the factory remote to warm up the vehicle in my drive way. i start to put my child in his car seat in the left rear side. as im putting my child in i can smell something burning and i can see smoke coming out from behind the seat. i immediately take him out of the truck and turn off the vehicle. as soon as it turns off i hear a loud pop noise almost like a firework going off. i see the rear window is now shattered with pieces of glass falling on my child's car seat. defroster seemed to burn the trucks rear seat and caused the window to shatter. i did a internet search and found that this is a common issue with the window defroster over-heating and causing the left rear window to shatter. i've reported this issue to ford within days of this happening and have not heard back from them.
Timing chain stretch causing engine not to run.
Takata recall truck will shift into 1st gear at highway speeds and speedometer goes to zero
The lines on my back up camera stopped working, but the camera still works
My 2013 ford f150 3.7l 66,000 miles has an ongoing brake/rotor problem. i started having the problems at about 36,000 miles. finally replaced the rotors/brakes at 46,000 now the rotors are warping again after only 20,000 miles. the front end has a vibration in it, even when not braking. the recall issued was limited to the 3.5l engine. from my internet research this recalled should be extended to other models.
Now the second time in and the truck doesn't even have 50k miles on it. truck would turn over but not start and left my wife and kids stranded in a parking lot where i had to go get them. it's hot as heck in june/july in texas so i know it isn't a cold weather start thing. researching online we are not the only ones with this problem. eventually leaving it there and messing with the key and ignition switch i'm assuming it started after a few hours. the truck was not over heated.
Made a turn at an intersection with my kids and my f150 ecoboost lost power. i thought we were gonna get hit. i have had my 2013 f150 into the local ford dealership 3 times for this issue. they tell me to drive it they are waiting for a new computer program from ford. engine lite has been on for a month or more. dealership keeps giving it back. waiting on program. vehicle i feel is not safe.
The headliner is coming down right in front of driver and passenger. it will eventually drop enough to block the drivers view. it was a small amount as 1st and know it's about 2 1/2" down on both sides. the truck has only 34k on it and is garage keep most of the time. dealer will only assist making me pay 1/3 of the cost to replace it. this in my option it a defect in materials and workmen ship. i think is should be a fix by ford and dealer not the customer.
I have had rear window issues since i bought the truck. first was when the rear defrost/mirror defrost wasn't working. they replaced the window in 2014. second time was in april of 2017. we had a heavy frost and i couldn't see out the back window or the side mirrors, so i turned on the defrost. about ten minutes later i was driving down the highway and heard what sounded like a gunshot. i immediately started looking around thinking someone shot at me. i didn't realize right away due to the rear headrest covering a large portion of the window, that the drivers side stationary section of the back window had exploded. the glass stayed intact, however tiny slivers of glass fell onto my daughters car seat which was in front of this window. ford did replace the window, reluctantly and i paid an insurance deductible, even though the internet is full of people having the same problem. i recently went to turn on my rear defrost again, and found the same issue as the first problem, where the defrost wont work and the likely fix is replacing the rear window. this will be the fourth window in four years. is this something i should expect to do like oil changes and tires? this is ridiculous. the exploding window can really be an issue. someone may panic and think its a gunshot, and cause an accident or if someone was sitting there, they could get glass slivers on them. this appears to have been a known issue for years with these windows. why haven't they been forced to redesign it?
While driving down the highway, the vehicle flashed service advance trac, down hill descent control fault, trailer brake module fail and a couple more codes. all electonics in vehicle went blank, including all controls/gauges. before doing so, last code read, shift to park. almost caused me to have an accident, because the power steering went out and nearly pulled me into another vehicle. the acceleration is bad too, feels like it is not firing all cylinders again. have already taken in for a number of issues, including crankshaft sensor issues(was losing power to driveline); brakes locking up (have replaced the rotors and pads six times and last time i replaced both calibers as well; power steering has been replaced once before, front axles and bearings replaced. as well as, ac problems. when the first issues arose, i was told by service tech at dealership i needed a new engine, (later he completely denied telling me this) instead they fixed some things and gave it back to me. problems have continued since, like i said have taken it in at least 6 times to a dealer and once to an independent mechanic. at first the problems were covered by warrenty, now they are not, there is only 78,000miles on the truck and has been in shop at least 6 times and is only 4 yrs old. not sure what to do, as the problems resemble recall issues, but dealership says they aren't part of any recalls. concerned for my safety on the road.
My moon roof does not close all the way. when googled there are thousand of hits with the same complaint. also people complain about the glass shattering. the vehicle was in motion and this appears to be a manufactures defect.
Timing chain stretch on 2013 f-150 fx4 damaged engine. ford issued service bulletins in 2014 but have not recalled vehicle.
My passanger side of rear window just shattered and scared my 11 year old daughter and i. it was about 23f in dover, nh at 10:50am i used the remote starter to start the truck before heading out with my daughter. the truck ran in the driveway for about 5 minutes. we both got in the truck and i started to slowly back down the driveway when we heard a very loud bang just as i was backing into the street. when i looked back i saw the passanger of the back window shattered. i came inside and researched what i needed to do to have this fixed, i saw hundreds of posts of the same thing happening to others. this is clearly a defect that ford is not taking care of! the truck is a 2013 f150 supercab with 26k miles it has the sliding glass window with defrost.
Takata recall my ford f150 truck 2013 was purchased in 2014 brand new. in 2017 january i had the sparks plugs changed and now again in april 2017 my mechanic has said that the sparks plug needs to be changed. i believe and gathering from what my mechanics is saying there is a problem with the coil? which is why the sparks plug in black for the second time. this all started from a problem with the brakes the tried flushing the breaks and same thing than they looked into the engine and changed the sparks plug (jan) now in april same issue. need help this is costing me money.
My defroster was turned on this morning. i got in my vehicle 10 minutes later and the rear window shattered into a spider web crack. i looked online and have over 32 pages of people complaints on the same issue. insurance company and warranty will not be covered.
Radio stops working causing the hands free phone, clock, and everything on the microsoft sync control panel to stop working. first time the vehicle was moving. the second time it was stationary. dealer suggested disconnecting the battery to reset everything which worked for about a week then continues to do the same thing.
Intermittent rear defroster on occasion. while sitting in driveway attempting to get rear defroster to operate the back drivers side glass shattered. sounded like a bullet/rock hit window but impossible due to direction of window as it was facing the back of the garage. seemed odd but when i investigated through my dealership they claimed to have heard of the rear defroster causing this but because it was glass and not covered to contact ford. i contacted ford and they advised me that no records of anything like this were on file and that there was no way to prove that the window was broken by the defroster thus it was not covered by my warranty or extended warranty. since this is a power three glass window with defroster it will need full replacement at a cost of over $1000 with no guarantee it will not happen again.
This is a lariat model f-150 with less than 36k miles. the evaporator is leaking and requires the complete dashboard to be pulled in order to replace the evaporator at a cost of $1,700.this poor design along with poor production should be covered by ford due to model type and amount of miles.
Exploding driver side power rear window that is tinted and defrost accessory, while driving 45 mph.
Ford f-150 brake failure was driving on sunday and had a complete brake failure with no electronic warning, warning light for low brake fluid came on after failure. was traveling about 35 mph on a city street at time pushed pedal all the way to floor with little response by brakin system. had to use parking brake to stop car, extremely scary bc i had kids in car.
Remote started my pickup on a cold morning. doing this it automatically turns on the defrosters and the one in the rear window. was driving to work and hear a loud pop. wasn't until that night that i noticed that loud pop was a rear window shattering. something with the defroster in the back window malfunctioned causing the glass to shatter. in pictures you can clearly see that no object struck the window because there is no indentations.
I was driving and made a right turn and the power steering gave out for a few seconds. then once i straightened back out i could not reproduce the problem. this has happened several times but can happen when turning either way.
Used remote start on my pickup in below freezing weather at roughly 28. came out to drive to work and rear driver side back window had spider web cracks throughout the glass.
Shortly after turning on the rear window defroster the rear window shattered, nothing hit it. it's like the defroster shorted and got too hot and blew the glass out.
The back glass has shattered 2 times and a burning smell is appearing when i start my truck. i have 2 small kids in carseats and im concerned ! both times my glass shattered i was warming the truck in cold weather. and the back defrost still works which scares me a little. someone is gonna be injured or killed eventually!
2013 f 150 super crew 23000 miles second time in less than a year back glass shattered both times sitting still should seriously look into what is definitley a serious problem people can't continue to pay every year for a new window.
There was a loud "boom" while parked in my truck. after exiting vehicle to inspect. the driver'side rear window was completely spidered. it is a power sliding rear with rear defrost. it was 5:30 a.m. on 2/11/2016. temp that morning was 15f. i park between two buildings, and there was no one else at work yet. vandalism can be ruled out. seems to me to be an obvious defect in construction, or design. i am glad i was parked22 and not going 70 mph on an expressway. this could be a major safety issue with truck in motion and/or a passenger riding in the back seat.
Back window shattered when remote start was turned on.
2013 f150 ford parked outside on driveway. sunny with temperature roughly 32 degrees fahrenheit. remote start used to warm up truck. walking out to truck when a loud bang/gunshot type of sound happened without warning. walked around truck and saw that driver's side of the power sliding rear window (3 sections) had started to spider crack. this part of the window then continued to crack until the whole section was spider cracked. (the sharp edges of glass were on the inside of vehicle window.) the vehicle was taken to dealer for evaluation but was told it is out of warranty. the dealer estimated replacement cost is $1,200-1,300 usd. (parts and labor).
Not getting promised mileage. folder says 14 city and 19 hwy. i get 10.5 on avg. once i got 14 on hwy by coasting when i could.
Rear window defroster does not work. i have read numerous reports of a defect in the wiring of the rear defroster that causes rear windows to shatter in colder weather. dealer says the entire window and system needs to be replaced due to a faulty switch. ford does not accept responsibility for the defect. this is a potential safety hazard as the rear window panel could shatter while driving. rear defroster mechanism is linked to side mirror defroster mechanism, so the only way to defrost side mirrors is to activate the entire system. i am filing this complaint in advance of an event such as the window shattering on my truck in order to force the nhtsb to make ford issue a recall on these vehicles to correct the problem in an appropriate manner.
Power rear middle window shattered when truck was sitting still in parking lot. rear window defroster was on while driving truck. windshield wiper come on every twenty seconds with switch in off position
On september 7, 2015 while turning onto traffic the truck locked up in first gear and will not shift even though the accelarator was being pushed. the truck was jerking but will not shift gears. rpm and speed remained the same as well. this is the fourth time it happens and i have taken in to the ford dealership where i bought it but nothing is done.
