We have classified the 150 complaints from 2012 Ford F-150 about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.
Driving in the rain. tried to merge on highway. truck started missing and bucking. i had the truck floored and it was loosing speed. i had to pull over. check engine light came on. almost got into an accident due to loss of power. *tr
The truck started to shudder and there was a loss of acceleration and power. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, he depressed the accelerator pedal but the vehicle would not respond. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 13,000. *tr
Multiple acceleration issues, especially when attempting to pass another vehicle and/or when accelerating abruptly. i have also noticed condensation from the exhaust when first starting the vehicle in the morning on multiple occasions. *tr
While driving my 2012 f 150 with under 5000 miles on it at highway speeds i went to pass a truck and put the accelerator down to the floor. the truck down shifted and the rpm's went up. when this accrued the truck feel flat on its face. there was no acceleration what's so ever and the truck seemed to miss. i held it to the floor for about 5 seconds with no change. please feel free to contact me on this issue. *tr
When you press the throttle pedal to pass the vehicle has a slight acceleration and then shakes, shudders and will not accelerate. i need to coast for several hundred yards before the system recovers and the truck accelerates. this happens all summer long pretty much every time i need to pass. my ford dealer says they have applied the service bulletins but that does not correct the problem. in your investigation of this matter it is stated that ford says you can still accelerate i can tell you that is absolutely not true with my truck. i should note that most of the time i am pulling an 18' fishing boat that weights about 3000 lbs. on at least six different occasions now while on vacation i have been in a long string of traffic behind either motor homes or logging trucks that could not go highway speed, i pull out to pass them step on the gas, it shakes, shudders and there i sit in the oncoming traffic lane, meanwhile the string of vehicles behind me have closed the gap, i cannot pull back into the right lane and i cannot accelerate to get in front of them. i end up just slowly moving back to the right hoping the other vehicles will back off and move out of the way, then comes the blasting of their horns and shaking of their fists when they eventually pass me. i cannot imagine how this is not considered a safety issue. ford specifically markets this ecoboost engine based on it's torque for towing to people that need a truck for towing but you cannot use any of that torque all summer long and i am pulling a boat that is only at one third of the towing capacity. *tr
While passing another car the throttle would not respond with full power. *tr
While attempting to accelerate from a stop sign turning right my 2012 ford f150 platinum 4x4 ecoboost stalled and would not accelerate for a few seconds. i thought the truck shifted into neutral but that was not the case. this has happened several times within the last 3 months and is getting more frequent. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while at a stop, the rpm increased excessively and the vehicle accelerated without warning. the contact stated that the vehicle was placed in neutral in order to come to a stop. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 20,000. *tr...updated 07-10-13 *bf
Well i purchased this truck a brand new 2012 ford f-150 xlt super crew w/ 3.5l ecoboost engine. the truck had 104 miles when i bought it. after a week i started to notice that the truck shudder's when i accelerate from a dead stop and it also shudders when i come to a full stop. for about a week every single day and time i would start and stop the truck would shudder. i thought this was because the engine just needed to break in. well i am going on the 4th week of owning this truck and it still occurs. the shudder that is. the shudder also occurs now when i have a cold engine start and i put the truck in reverse it starts to shudder. i do feel as the driver it has effected the performance of my truck. 854
I only just learned of your investigation so my memory on exact dates and mileage may be off by a few weeks. i did take my truck to the ford dealer to report my incident so they should should have a record of this and the work they performed (baierl ford, zelienople, pa 16063). my 2012 f150 with the 3.5l ecoboost was about 6 months old at the time. i was passing a coal truck uphill on a 10% grade. i was not towing, nor did i have a load in the bed. he was going about 30 mph. i eased out and got along side running now at about 50-55, then 'punched' the throttle to complete the pass. that did not turn out well. the engine cut out exactly like a reverse limiter on an atv and the check engine light came on. i barely was able to complete the pass, and was 'pushed' up the hill by the coal truck, engine running in that cut-out mode all the way. got over the top and it continued to run like this down the other side. after about 6 miles, it went back to normal and the check engine light went out. took it to my dealer not too long after. they installed something - since it was warranty work i wasn't given the paperwork and simply don't recall what they did. apparently there was a tsb on the problem though. i have not had a repeat in the 6 months since, although i do drive differently now, having experienced that episode. that event severely compromised my confidence in this engine. since then i have been very adverse to passing on two lane roads and have delayed towing several times for fear this would happen again potentially creating a deadly situation. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle failed to respond to acceleration attempts. the engine rpms rapidly increased during the malfunction. the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer however, they were unable to locate the problem. the manufacturer was not notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 18,000.
Traveling on the interstate, little to no uphill or downhill grade, speed approximately 55, attempted to pass a tractor-trailer. pressed hard on the accelerator pedal, and started the pass. halfway thru the pass, passing speed 65-70 mph, my truck lost all power and started shaking violently. i backed off the accelerator, and pulled back in behind the tractor-trailer, then off to the right shoulder. i shut the engine off, opened the hood, expecting to see something bad. no visible signs of anything wrong. started the engine, drove the rest of the way home, with no other mis-haps. however, the same thing has happened twice more, the most recent being just a few days ago, 6-10-13. each time this has happened, it has been during an attempt to pass a slower vehicle, during a hard acceleration. i'm typically a very conservative driver, and bought this truck with this engine for both fuel economy and power to pull a trailer. on the first and third occurrence, i was on the interstate, with traffic going the same direction. the second time it happened, i was on a slight upgrade on a 2-lane road, and attempted to pass a much slower vehicle. there was traffic coming from the other direction, but there was ample time and distance to make a safe pass, as the truck in front of me was very slow. again, halfway thru the passing attempt, i lost power, and had to back behind the truck in front of me. fortunately, there was sufficient room for the oncoming traffic to move over to avoid the collision. i have talked to my dealer about this, and they were going to research the issue before servicing it. however, i recently saw a report on this issue on the local news station, and realized that my problem is not unique. *tr
While driving my 2012 f-150 ecoboost driving on the interstate- sped up to jump in front of somebody, the engine totally bogged down.... wouldn't accelerate at all... luckily didn't get ran over. this has happened 5 times since. i have talked to multiple people that have the ecoboost engine and it has happened to them. *tr
Accelerating from freeway on ramp at about 25 mph, slowly pushing pedal down truck tachometer gauge speed up to between 5500 rpm and 7000 rpm. however truck did not move. transmission acted like it was in neutral. this lasted 4 or 5 seconds; then engine started missing and running rough. all the time vehicle had slowed to approximately 15 mph. i narrowly avoided being rearended by pulling off the shoulder of the highway. this happen on i-20 near the rest area west bound in monahans texas. weather was clear, and temp about 42 degrees. has happened at least three times since then. fuel was from national vendor and same brand i normally use. dealer is oblivious to this and what to do. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that when driving various speeds and when attempting to accelerate the vehicle hesitated or did not respond immediately. the failure recurred numerous times. the manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was unavailable. the failure and current mileage was 4,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that after he parked and exited the vehicle, the vehicle began to roll forward. the contact re-entered the vehicle and engaged the brake pedal however, the wheels started spinning and the contact crashed into another vehicle. the contact's vehicle then pushed the other vehicle into the contact's home. there were no injuries. the contact's home was damaged. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the failure and current mileage was 10,000.
While entering the highway from the ramp i pulled into the first lane and tried to accelerate. the truck started to miss and buck and would not increase in speed causing me to pull off the roadway. i shut the truck off and restarted it. the truck will only run if you accelerate very slowly. any attempt to gain speed is met with the same response. i took the vehicle to the ford dealer where they cleared the codes and informed me ford was having problems with water in the intercooler. at this time they have no parts to repair this problem and told me to drive the vehicle as it is. my fear is someone could get killed. the vehicle is not safe to drive. if ford knows there is a problem and can't fix it wouldn't they be responsible. *tr
Intermittent stumble/misfire on acceleration from highway speeds, engine feels like it is in limp mode, this has happened four times. *tr
I drove my 2012 ford f150 platinum, 4x4, supercrew, multiple times between texas and washington state on interstate 10 and interstate 5, going through oregon between the months of october 2012 and january 2013, traveling through snowy areas and then hot areas such as arizona. when i accelerated hard to merge with traffic or to pass traffic, my truck lost acceleration power. i was able to see white smoke coming from the exhaust. i took my truck to automax ford in killeen, texas. the dealership was aware of the issue from a technical bulletin and repaired the faulty part(s). *tr
On a 500 mile trip from va to nyc during rainy weather, engine stalled upon acceleration on 6 occasions. reproducible after driving at constant speed for an hour, or so, and then accelerating to pass a vehicle or enter a freeway. absolutely scary and extremely dangerous. i had several such incidences from day 1 of ownership and i already filed a similar report in july 2012 (#10465748). never happens during dry weather. ford applied the deflector shield and reprogramming, which did not solve the problem at all, but noticeably reduced the engine power, leading to shudder in 6th gear when going uphill at 60 mph (apparently due to a lack of enough torque; shudder disappears when switching down to 5th gear). gas mileage is down to 15-16 mpg at constant speed of 65 mph on highway, far from the advertised numbers. the check engine light came on during yesterdays nightmare stalling events and the truck goes back into the shop shortly. $55,000 truck that cannot be driven in bad weather - and every ford dealer declines having "ever heard of the problem". seeing all the complaints in this database and on f150 forums, i think it is time for ford to acknowledge the problem publicly and come up wit a fix vial recall. *tr
It was a foggy, moist day and when i accelerated to get around a slow moving vehicle i was in the passing lane! my truck lost all engine power and had no throttle response for 15 seconds, no check engine light came on, my truck went into limpmode. thankfully no one was behind me and i was not injured or involved in a crash!!! *tr
On monday december 11, my wife and i left on a trip to indiana with approximately 10,400 miles on the truck. after a stop, at the bowling green, ky., rest stop, i proceeded to return to traffic on interstate 65. after determining i could safely accelerate in front of two semi-trailer trucks, i entered the highway at approximately 50 mph and went to full throttle. instead of accelerating, the engine went into a total loss of power. amid the blowing of air horns and my wife's screams i was lucky enough to avoid a collision by yanking the truck onto the emergency lane. the engine did not stop running, but appeared (to me) to be totally flooded. the engine ran on ?? (number of) cylinders for approximately one eighth of a mile before returning to running on all cylinders. i do not think the service department believed me when they looked at the truck. i have been a mechanic and an engineer for a lot of years, i know what happened this time and it came very close to a serious accident and/ or injury to my wife and me. this was a very close accident avoidance and it practically destroyed our confidence in the truck. while still on our trip, we made the decision to forgo the hassle of trying to persuade the service dept. there was a problem, and get a different brand of new truck. i have taken the high financial loss of trading for another new truck. i am not totally satisfied with this vehicle. the ford has many enhancements and i probably should have tried harder to get the appropriate service action. but would it have been worth the risk of another engine incident, no i do not think so. this was the second and most serious incident and after ford service had pronounced there was no problem with my engine. i sold the truck with 11,399 miles on the speedometer. *tr
When accelerating to pass another car, the vehicle suddenly looses power. after accelerating rapidly to get on the freeway and releasing the gas pedal, the car continues to accelerate. ford said there is a problem with their intercoolers and they have been on backorder for several months. this is a safety issue for me and my family and ford tells me to continue to drive my car while i wait more months until the parts are ready. *tr ## vin failed ##
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving under 30 mph, the traction control warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle decelerated without being prompted. the brakes engaged and the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 52,000. updated 11/01/16*lj the consumer stated the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. *js
I have had this problem several times. it seemed to start in october 2012. i was trying to merge into traffic and pushed the gas pedal down quickly and it did not move forward any faster. i i was almost rear-ended by another vehicle because i could not get any speed. it seems that when i push down the pedal very slowly, it will go faster. but when i need the response to be very quickly, it does not respond. i have had this problem when i pull my camper. it will be performing then all of a sudden, i will need to push down the pedal to get power up a hill and again, there is no power. i have taken this to the dealership and they keep saying that there is no problem. i bought this vehicle to pull my camper. it does not perform the way it was touted in their advertisements. *tt
Was driving at 60mph, accelerated a little and vehicle shuddered/hesitated and didn't accelerate, and check engine light flashed, then became solid. took to ford dealership was told a calibration update fixed the problem. same problem occurred 3 days later. took it back to dealership, it has been there for 3 days and they state "are waiting for ford to advise them on what to do next." this is a 2012 ford f150 ecoboost lariat 4x4 supercrew with only 5,000 miles on it and has a sticker of nearly $50,000. i would expect no problems or at least a timely solution. either way, merging onto the interstate or needing to accelerate and the truck failing to do so is a safety issue. *tr
Had cruise control set on 59mph......came upon slow moving vehicles and hit accelerator to pass reaching 80mph....made pass.....took foot off accelerator to slow down, nothing happened with vehicle continuously at 80mph....hit brake....no reaction still 80mph...hot the cruise off button on steering wheel, still no reaction.....had to physically force brake pedal to slow vehicle down to a stop, however engine remained at high throttle until i could turn ignition off.......waited a few minutes...turned vehicle back on and vehicle acted normally....tested cruise control a couple times before making it home...no problems....this was and could have been a very serious situation had there been traffic on this highway...thank god it was around 11 pm.....brand new truck...had for two weeks.......reporting to ford service tomm morn. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that the cruise control was set at 45 mph when the vehicle jerked abnormally. in addition, when the cruise control was set to 35 mph, the vehicle would exhibit a loud noise in the rear area. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. the dealer replaced the charge air cooler however, the failure was not corrected and the dealer advised the contact that the vehicle was operating as normal. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was not available and the current mileage was 2,600.
2012 ford f-150. consumer writes in regards to acceleration problems. *smd the consumer stated as he tried to merge into traffic on the interstate, he floored the accelerator pedal, but the engine shut down completely. he was able to get the truck off the main interstate and into the emergency lane. the engine light came on. he let the truck sit in the off position for approximately 10 minutes and then he re-started the truck. at that point, he was slowly able to accelerate while in the emergency lane, to a speed that allowed him to re-enter the interstate. all attempts to accelerate quickly failed and it would only accelerate gradually at slower then normal speeds. he continued his trip with the engine light on and at his first opportunity he took the vehicle to the dealer. the dealer returned the vehicle to the consumer saying they had fixed the problem. the truck performed well for the next year without any incidents, there were no occasions where quick acceleration was required. in october 2013, he made another trip, and the same incident happened. then engine shut down again in december 2013. the dealer stated they made a different repair and they returned the truck to the consumer. the engine shut down again in april 2014. the dealer kept the vehicle, for two weeks, stating they were unable to find a problem. *jb
I purchased my f-150 ecoboost, on july 28, 2012. almost immediately after purchasing it, i have had issues with the engine. often when it rains, the truck will not start or when it does start, it refuses to go or when it is going, it will not accelerate. when i attempt to pass a slow vehicle, there is no power. the engine boggs down, to an idle. the truck has left me stranded numerous times. i took my family on a trip to miami, florida, during the christmas holiday. on the open road the motor quit. i was able to limp it into a ford dealer, who had to perform extensive engine repairs in able to get the truck running again. while i was driving it back to tennessee, after 3 weeks of repairs, it happened several more times. when i attempt to pass slower vehicles, i try to accelerate and there is no power. it is dangerous, particular when traveling on 2 lane country roads with hills. often, when i park and exit the truck, there is a strong odor of gas coming from somewhere under the hood of the vehicle. this is a fire hazard. on 2 occasions, the driver's seat has come unattached from the floor of the truck. this morning, i went to take my children to school i was driving and heard/felt thumping and the seat fell back, i was nearly laying on my back, while driving. this has happened twice. this is dangerous and scary, when it happens while driving down the road. the ford customer care representative was very flipped and seemed to be more concerned with ensuring that i understood the terms of the warranty than the safety of my vehicle. i was insulted and humiliated, for suggesting they provide me with something to drive while they corrected the problem. the first time this happened, it took 3 weeks to fix. i bought this vehicle, i should not have to buy another vehicle to drive. to date the best fuel mileage i have gotten is 13.2 miles per gallon. *tr
Driving turnpike at 1:30am with wet roads but not raining. cruise control was engaged at 75 mph. approaching a bridge and upon starting to climb on the incline i heard a noise that sounded like the transmission had disengaged then the engine light started pulsating on and off so i tried to accelerate and the truck did not react but since i was going 75 it took me over the bridge and then i coasted down the bridge with the cruise control disengaged. i pulled over to the side and placed truck in park the engine was still on. i turned off the truck and waited about 1 minute then i turned the key back on and the truck started up with no engine light or any sign of problems. i drove all the way to miami with no further incidents. i took the truck to ford of homestead and they said they could not pull a code out of the computer that showed anything had happened. i later took the truck again this time making noises when u accelerated it sounded like the transmission was shuddering and again nothing they could do to replicate it. again on or around march 2013 i took the truck to another ford dealer and tried to replicate the shuddering between 3 or 4 th gear to no avail. the truck this past weekend on the same bridge again with wet roads made the shuddering sound and feeling but the engine light did not come on and the truck upon getting to the top of the bridge continued without having to be turned off and on. at first i thought this might be a transmission issue but whenever i guess the truck accelerates to gain speed to go over the bridge or after leaving a stop or red light between 3 or 4 th gears it shudders and when the bridge comes around it goes to a lower gear and starts losing power. when it happens between 3 or 4th gears it is with me accelerating. they told me that the truck has a memory if you drive it hard or softly it remembers this and shifts differently. *tr
I was traveling at approx. 50 mph behind a slow vehicle and pulled in the oncoming lane to pass when the truck seem to miss fire. it would not accelerate and i had brake hard to pull back in behind the slow vehicle. it did this for about thirty seconds and cleared up. it has only happened once. 2012 f150 ecoboost *tr
On three different occasions was in the process of passing a vehicle, and all of a sudden lost engine acceleration, pick up began to vibrate, pulled over and called service center, was told to turn off and restart vehicle, proceeded to destination! *tr
After using cruise control for 1 hour on a 4 lane highway at 70 mph during high humidity early in the morning i try to accelerate and the motor loses all power. i had tsb 12-6-4 applied to the vehicle friday, three days ago, and though it may reduce the likelihood of this situation, it does not overcome what appears to be a design flaw with the intercooler in this ecoboost motor. this flaw allows for condensated water to be sucked into the motor and causing the misfire during hard accelerations after long periods of using cruise control in high humidity situation. the impact of losing power will be a fatal accident for a customer at some point in time if it has not already occurred. *tr
While driving a brand new 2012 ford f-150 w/ 3.5l v6 eco-boost i was attempting to merge onto interstate while towing a small boat trailer when i lost towing power (rpm dropped instantly from ~4000 to ~2000 rpm despite having accelerator depressed) and the entire truck started violently shaking. this continued until i completely let off the gas for a few seconds. i then pressed down on the accelerator and things were back to normal. i could have easily lost control during the rapid deceleration had the roads been wet or if a big ole 18-wheeler had been behind me things could have ended poorly. *tr
I purchased a new f150 ecoboost on 6/13/2012. at 4516 mls i was attempting to merge onto a highway while towing a large trailer in heavy rain. the truck accelerated to approx 50mph then lost pwr suddenly and slowed to 30mph while traffic was approaching from the rear at highway speeds. the engine light started to flash and then stayed on. i was able to safely pull to the side while the truck slowly started to pick up speed again. later the same day while trying to merge into more highway traffic it did the same thing. the dealer replaced several parts and i have not had that problem again. however, i have not towed in the same conditions since then. also, the engine light has turned on three different time due to what the dealer says is a bad turbo intake sensor which they replaced each time. the truck has 18500mls on it and the dealer has been unable to explain why this sensor has failed approx every 4000 mls. all service records are available. *tr
We experienced bucking, shuttering, lack of acceleration when exiting one major highway and entering another. also check engine light came on. we called the dealer and they said we could still drive truck after we told them what happened. (we were about 200 miles from home)this happened twice. after the first time we took the truck back to the dealer and they installed a cl3z*19e672*a deflector and *w711281*s300 pin. the dealer said the reason for the problem was the computer "learns" the driving habits of the everyday driver (wife). when the husband drove the truck the incidents occurred. dealer said they re-programmed the computer, installed parts. several months later when husband was driving the truck it happened again. we took the truck back to the dealer but they said nothing was wrong. *tr
On vacation to ga from md in july of 2012, during a heavy downpour and lost power several times traveling on i-95 towing a boat. driving about 65-70 mph stopped at the ford dealer on rt. 1 in fredericksburg va and they did a temporary fix, a piece of cardboard was installed to prevent the moisture from causing problemsonly to be told to go back to our dealer for the part once it comes in all back ordered. we have since contacted sheehy and got nowhere never got a call either that the part was in. truck gets the worst gas mileage and over the rain we had started to stall out again. never called and never fixed.now with the rain again and the heat it is doing it again..... *tr
I was driving in a light rain when i gently pressed the accelerator and the engine started vibrating excessively making the whole truck vibrate like the wheels were falling off. the incident lasted about 10 seconds before it returned to acting normally. *tr
When attempting to pass the vehicle loses power under hard acceleration. this has happened several times, usually at highway speed, wet/humid conditions, under hard acceleration. i have taken the truck into the dealership to have them perform the work outlined in a tech bulletin from ford but the problem persists. just yesterday (10/6/13 at about 12:25pm approx 65 degrees f) driving in light rain on i-96 near grand rapids, mi i accelerated hard from about 65mph to pass on the freeway and the vehicle lost power nearly causing an accident. *tr
While accelerating on an on-ramp to merge into traffic on i-90, the entire vehicle vibrated very hard, the engine then lost power, causing electric to shut down, and uncontrolled deceleration to occur. the check engine light started to flash. once i released the pressure on the gas pedal, and pulled off the interstate to avoid oncoming traffic, the power returned and the engine responded again. the catalytic converter was determined to be the problem and was replaced. notified ford regional service manager about concerns that this was a safety issue, he responded that the car was under warranty, and nothing else could be done despite acknowledging that we could have been involved in a very serious accident due to the engine failure. about 2 months later, the same problem occurred, and apparently the computer system was not updated as required. after the update, it worked fine. in december 2012, similar symptoms occurred and the dealership determined it was the coil in engine 4 as the problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving various speeds and making a left or right turn, the traction control system warning indicator illuminated. when the brakes were engaged by the system, the vehicle's speed was severely reduced and almost caused several crashes. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where a recording device was attached, indicating that the contact depressed the brake pedal when, in fact, he did not. the brakes and several parts were replaced by the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 5,000.
Almost got hit trying to pass a car. when i pulled out to pass and tried to accelerate the motor started missing badly. ford supposedly did not have a fix until early this year. my eco bust now has 70,000 miles and ford wants me to pay for part of the repair. they have never contacted me to inform me of the problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, he attempted to accelerate and the vehicle jerked and lunged. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was awaiting diagnosis of the failure. the failure mileage was 6,000 and the current mileage was 12,600. updated 07/09/13*lj updated 07/16/2013 *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f150. the contact stated while accelerating to enter highway, the vehicle lunged forward and the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle began to shake violently before it stalled. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be duplicated. the manufacture was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 222 and the current mileage was 61,243.
While merging into traffic and accelerating, the engine stalled and the truck engine almost died. this has happened numerous times since, mainly when i accelerate quickly as in trying to pass a car. it could easily get someone killed. the dealer cannot duplicate the problem or come up with a fix because there are no codes showing even though the check engine light comes on when this happens i have checked the f150forum.com and its evident that this problem is rampant with this engine.. *tr
After purchasing this 2012 f150 w/ecoboost v-6, i wanted to see how good of gas mileage i could get out of it. i also wanted to break the vehicle in before any hard accelerations. when starting from a complete stop, i would gradually make it up to highway speeds. i treated the vehicle gingerly until i wanted to test the capabilities of this ecoboost engine i had heard so much about. it was a cold january evening and there was no unusual weather (no rain or snow). i had been cruising at constant highway speeds for approximately an hour. the road had narrowed from a 4 lane highway to a 2 lane. i was stuck behind a vehicle traveling just above 50 mph. i reached a passing zone and decided to test the performance of the engine/truck. i depressed the accelerator to the floor and the engine spit and sputtered. i decided to ease off immediately for our safety. no lights on the dash illuminated as result of this engine problem. after this incident, i have noticed that at cruising speeds, there seems to be an engine miss around 60 mph while going up a slight grade. i have also noticed that when starting the vehicle, it (engine) does not start as quickly. the key has to be held longer. these problems are a direct result of the damage caused to the engine after the very first hard acceleration. *tr
I had slowed down to exit off the freeway to get on another freeway. when i pushed the accelerator, the truck started to shutter, shake, and lose power. i took my foot completely off the accelerator and let the truck coast a short distance. when i tried to accelerate again, the truck seemed fine. it did this twice on the same day. i took it to the ford dealership and they told me the truck was fine. i have an eco-boost v-6 engine. *tr
While attempting to merge into traffic pulling a trailer i pushed the gas pedal and the truck down shifted but would not accelerate. the truck will drop into 3rd gear and will not exceed 4000 rpm. this has occurred several times and has been in the shop 3 or 4 times. it has also happened without a trailer. on several occasions i have had to pull over and turn the truck off to get it to go. sometimes i can just come off the pedal and press it again to correct. this is a dangerous issue that could cause an accident. the dealer has reprogrammed the truck several times and replaced the converters twice. i have asked ford to buy back the truck but they have not responded yet. the truck is going back into the shop tomorrow and i am considering utilizing the lemon law. *tr
