Problems with 2011 Ford F-150 ENGINE

On average, the 2011 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 53 463 miles.

Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2011 Ford F-150

Truck will have severe intermittent stumble/misfiring on acceleration from 45mph+ in humid, wet or damp conditions. the vehicle shudders violently, bogs down, and check engine light flashes eventually becoming a solid engine light. this involves the engine shuddering when there is acceleration at highway speeds; this is very dangerous when trying to pass vehicles at highway speeds. have my spark plugs and coils replaced after the following happened in damp and wet weather conditions. make years seem to involve 2011-14 ecoboost trucks. from thousands of ford forum posts, the trucks have an intercooler condensation problem that is causing poor performance and spark plugs/coils to fail early. water and oil vapor/residue condensation is being sucked into the engine. people have had to take it upon themselves to find a solution by drilling a 1/16' hole in the low point of the intercooler driver's side to drain oil/water condensation/residue or install a $400-$500 oil catch can separator which ford should be offering to owners with this problem. ford should own this problem and issue an appropriate fix like the oil catch can installation or confirm with its owners that it is ok to drill a weep hole in the intercooler. not the cheap fixes i have seen like tsb 13-8-1.

My ecoboost engine stalled during acceleration while attempting to pass on a 2 lane road. this put me and my family in a very dangerous situation where i was in the opposing lane with no power. i have attempted to have this fixed at the dealer more than 5 times. one dealer actually put in a new sensor about 6 months ago but this has failed to fix the issue. this is a well known problem with this engine yet ford refuses to fix it.

I had been driving in the rain for approximately 3 hours. exited off the interstate and attempted to accelerate and the truck bogged down, misfiring and almost cutting off. this is a known problem by ford and they have issued a technical service bulletin. i understand that there is an on-going investigation to determine if this is going to be a recall. this happened previously when i was attempting to pass someone and it almost caused an accident. i took it into the ford dealer where i bought the vehicle last year and they applied the fix in accordance to the tech bulletin but obviously that has not corrected the issue. *tr

I was traveling 45 mph on dry roads/good visibility/good weather in 6th gear when without warning the transmission shifted from 6th gear and finally ended in 1st gear - during this time the engine rpms exceeded 6000 rpms - i immediately shifted into neutral in order to reduce the engine rpm. needless to say controlling the vehicle when this occurred was a major safety concern. i then shifted from neutral to drive and all was well. last sunday after church the transmission would at first not shift from 1st and then went to 5th gear and remained in 5th gear till i put the transmission in neutral and then back into drive. this event has occurred 4 times this far.always when the engine and transmission are cold!!! *tr

While trying to speed up the engine lags out causing the vehicle to misfire making it impossible to accelerate and causes the vehicle to shake. my ecoboost only experiences this issue at high speeds which is an incovience on the highway .

My f150 ecoboost stalled twice in the rain while trying to pass another car. the truck lost all power while i was attempting to pass a vehicle in heavy traffic. this happened on i20. the engine failed a couple years back in rain and ford installed a shroud over the intercooler. after reporting the second problem to the local dealer, ford installed a modified "new" shroud on the intercooler. the govt prematurely closed the investigation of f150 ecoboost engines that have a major flaw that affect vehicle performance. installing a modified shroud to fix a serious safety issue is not a solution. please reopen the investigation for the ford f150 owners that have the ecoboost engine. *tr

While traveling a long duration at a consistent mph, low rpm, and low turbo boost pressure i began to climb a hill where more acceleration was needed to maintain mph. at time the vehicle rapidly slowed, engine light cam on, tried to add throttle to stay out of the way of approaching traffic but just continued to slow. this happened while traveling from las vegas nevada to reno nevada. i replaced the ignition coils and that solved the problem only to have it happen again in less than 5k miles in the same driving conditions

Loss of power. missfire. engine light came on and would not go off. ecoboost 3.5 v6. moisture problem getting in to cause problems. turbo cooler problem. truck is in service now on date above. *tr

While attempting to cross oncoming traffic lanes to access interstate vehicle began to move then suddenly lost all power. rpm's went up to 4000 rpm but vehicle would not move. vehicles were approaching in excess of 50mph. i managed to barely avoid being struck by oncoming traffic and pulled to side of ramp. vehicle then began to move again. took vehicle in for service. dealership performed two fixes involving some form of air dam. on 02/24 vehicle did the same thing luckily in a parking lot this time. this is an extremely dangerous condition which leaves no error codes so far. i am seeing many similar complain ts online. taking vehicle in for service again on 3/3/15 as the issue occurred again today 3/2/15. *tr

Follow up to complaint listed below (beginning with summary): it should be noted that this incident did not occur in humid or rainy conditions. this incident did not occur while traveling at highway speed or wide open throttle. this incident occurred while starting from a complete stop under light acceleration turning left across traffic. vehicle lost all power and would not move. pushing the gas pedal did increase engine rpm but vehicle would not move. the behavior exhibited by the vehicle sounds very similar to the condensation problem i have been made aware of with the 3.5 v6 ecoboost. however none of the circumstances ford claims causes the issue existed. this is an extremely dangerous condition. weather was approximately 15 degrees and sunny. i have experienced the problem when the vehicle has been cold and after it has been running for a while. summary: while attempting to cross oncoming traffic lanes to access interstate vehicle began to move then suddenly lost all power. rpm's went up to 4000 rpm but vehicle would not move. vehicles were approaching in excess of 50mph. i managed to barely avoid being struck by oncoming traffic and pulled to side of ramp. vehicle then began to move again. took vehicle in for service. dealership performed two fixes involving some form of air dam. on 02/24 vehicle did the same thing luckily in a parking lot this time. this is an extremely dangerous condition which leaves no error codes so far. i am seeing many similar complain ts online. taking vehicle in for service again on 3/3/15 as the issue occurred again today 3/2/15. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving approximately 45 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. in addition, when the vehicle was started, there was an abnormal noise under the hood of the vehicle intermittently. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the timing chain failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 65,000. update 01/13/16 ma *cn

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the turbo boost needed to be replaced. no repairs were made to the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 78,626. updated 4/6/15*cn

I lose power when trying to pass a vehicle and the motor seem to shutdown and shakes. *tr

Going up hill, stepped on gas, transmission shifted down one gear, let off gas and engine died. it showed low oil pressure on dash. steering was hard (had to pull to side of road). vehicle was then towed. oil dip stick was pulled out and will not go back in. latter discovered engine is seized up for no know reason. *tr

The ecoboost engine flashed the check engine light and started blinking and lost almost all power, vehicle slowed to approx 35 mph in the middle of high speed traffic. ford says the recall never happened because you closed it with satisfactory repair results. i am told i have to now pay for this fix since it is after their 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. yet the vehicle almost killed us. they say they have a misfire , cac fix tsb to correct the issue. *tr

Went to pass car engine began sputtering and shaking had to pull off road to avoid accident .turned engine off and back on as directed by dealership for this on going problem but didn't correct this problem time .been fighting this problem since 2011 and just read where ford was suppose to fix it .are y'all waiting till someone gets killed? *tr

I was trying to pass a vehicle on the highway, doing 70 mph, once i tried to accelerate the truck bogged down and almost had a head on collision. i tried to accelerate once more about 50 miles later and the same issue occurred. i researched and found this is a ongoing issue with all 2011-2013 f150 ecoboost. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 35-40 mph and driving up an incline, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that a retro kit had to be placed onto the turbo boost. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 85,000.

Lost power during acceleration, engine light came on instrument cluster. truck had a severe miss. drove about 20 miles in 5th gear and engine cleared up and light went off. truck then missed during accelerations all the way home. *tr

I accelerated from a stop and the engine lost power and went to idle. the check engine light came on steady and the engine would not accelerate from idle. i turned off the engine and restarted and was able to accelerate past idle. after traveling about 1/2 mile the engine again lost power. i again restarted the vehicle and was able to travel home (approximately 15 miles). all the while the check engine light stayed on steady. a similar event occurred while towing a 30 foot travel trailer while on the i-80 freeway near rawlings wyo.in june, 2014, although that time the engine shuddered violently and the check engine light flashed on and off. after pulling to the side of the freeway the light stopped flashing and i was able to accelerate normally without having to restart the engine. the engine shudder has occurred several times since and has been reported to my ford dealer (mission valley ford truck in san jose, ca). the dealer was not able to duplicate or capture any computer defect codes after doing a computer scan. *tr

Going up highway @ 55mph. pulled around a vehicle to pass. once, i was in the oncoming traffic the engine suddenly lost power, chugged, and was stumbling over itself. i then got back behind the vehicle i was passing. the 4 passengers and i were all quiet and then freaked out. after a while we pulled out and accelerated to go up road again, truck dogged out. we had no clue what was happening, but everyone was freaked out. we called birthday party destination to tell them we have vehicle trouble and can't make it. drove it down hill all the while worried the engine was going to blow. drove it directly to dealership who stated they had no clue and did not want us to leave it there. said set up appt. 7-10 days out. parked it until appt. then they replaced all spark plugs. we also have had troubles with the braking. where it suddenly takes extra effort and requires the driver to press hard on the brakes to get it to slow down. when we've driven it to ford for repair they throw their hands up, act frustrated, like they do not have any clue as to what the problems are. we were hesitant to renew our state tags as it sits parked most of the time, since it chugged on level surface with no rain present, and the mechanics light came on. we feel scared driving it and it has remained parked for 3+ weeks. this is our newest vehicle, which looks new and yet we can't drive it. we're not made out of money, and can not easily replace this truck. we want ford to fix the engine and the brakes, and not act like they have no idea about these problems. ford wants us to take the loss on the vehicle value or continue driving it until something bad happens. they want nothing in writing. and, we do not want to sell the vehicle to a stranger. we'd allow you to inspect our vehicle....and drive it for a test drive. would you want to be driving this vehicle with your young children as passengers?

I was accelerating to freeway speed when my truck began to shake and my engine was not allowing me to speed up. it felt like driving over a washboard. the engine light began to flash and continued to do so until i pulled over and stopped the vehicle. the engine light stopped and i was able to continue on home. i took it to the dealer the following morning and they replaced the faulty spark plugs. this same issue has now occurred 3 times in less than 3 months. the dealer has now replaced these spark plugs 3 times, twice of which the entire set of spark plugs were replaced. i am concerned over this safety issue since it always occurs as i am driving and speeding up to get on the freeway. *tr

The ecoboost engine ford introduced into the f150 (and other vehicles) in 2011 seems to be having common and widespread problems, including my vehicle. i first reported this issue to the dealer with about 30,000 miles and now again at 63,000 miles. the safety issue is revealed under any acceleration "event" such as highway merging, passing, towing etc. under acceleration the vehicle "chokes" and will not accelerate as the driver & passengers experience the vehicle stalling, shuddering or bucking. this is often described as the vehicle going into "limp mode" operating on fewer than all cylinders. the problems appear to stem from dysfunctional intercooler operation on this twin turbo engine. there are two different scenarios described in f150 blogs. one, most common, is that the cooling of the air via the intercooler causes condensation to accumulate inside the air intake. when the driver accelerates, the increase in air volume draws the moisture into the fuel delivery system and causes the engine to misfire, which the driver experiences as an engine stall, bucking or shuddering. the second scenario reported is that there is an overheating of air into the fuel deliver system which causes early detonation of the fuel mixture in the cylinders causing roughly the same symptoms. my vehicle repairs are costing me almost $700.00 - which would be more if i did not have an extended warranty. the dealer is replacing 6 spark plugs, 4 coil boots that have overheated and cracked, installing a new intercooler shield - none of which they are standing by as a dealer covered expense. ford needs to be held accountable for this defective design for both consumer safety and financial reasons. someone may be killed trying to pass or enter a highway as their vehicle suddenly looses power. *tr

I was merging on to the highway and the truck started violently jerking when i tried to accelerate. i had to pull over to the side of the road to prevent getting hit by faster cars. i let off of the accelerator and the truck regained composure after a minute or two. now i can't give the truck more than a 1/4 throttle or it will start jerking again. since that incident i have had ford replace the intercooler, install a shield put over the top half of the intercooler per tsb 13 -8 -1, re-flashed computer, replaced spark plugs, and replaced fuel filter. the problem still persist today. *tr

During acceleration to pass another motorist, truck exhibited multiple misfires causing truck to lose power and trigger the sel light. after that, the truck would not accelerate and was actually losing speed on the freeway. my truck now coasting, i had to maneuver my vehicle through traffic going much faster than me, to the right shoulder where i had to eventually shut the engine off and start it back up again. truck then idled very rough and i preceded to exit the freeway because i didn't want to be in that dangerous situation again. *tr

I was accelerating to pass another vehicle, got up to approximately 65 mph when the engine stated to loose power and until i let off of the gas and began to slowly get back up to 55 mph. vehicle is a 2011 f150 ecoboost. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the steering wheel was hard to turn and a warning displayed on the panel that read 'service advance trap". the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician was not able to diagnose the failure. in addition, the contact stated that when attempting to pass another vehicle, the accelerator pedal was activated and there was loss of acceleration as the check engine light flashed on and off. the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 57,000.

I purchased a 2011 ford f-150 4x4 with around 41,000 miles on it from texas direct auto, on 08/18/14 with an existing warranty on it. on the morning of 09/24/14 while driving to work, i heard a loud noise and smoke starting coming out of my ac vents, hood and exhaust pipe, as well as losing power to the truck and shaking really bad. i was able to get off the freeway to park it. the truck is still under power train warranty, so i towed it to joe myers ford, houston ,tx down the street. long story short, i was told the motor blew and on 10/2/14 joe myers ford is denying the warranty because i do not have service maintenance records, then i was told it was due to abuse. joe myers ford quotes me $10,500 to install a new motor. texas direct auto where i purchased it, was not helping me out as well. the ford truck has a 3.5l v6 dir dohc 24v (ecoboost) motor. i know that nhtsa is/was investigating on these motors. i can not afford a $10,500 motor plus a paying for a $29,000 truck note. *tr

Just purchased my vehicle. then take it in for service for rotors that's are shot with 25k on it. find out the last guy blew the turbo chargers at 4000 miles n traded it in. the vehicle shudders from take off. then shifts hard. also shifts hard from reverse to drive. noone wants to admits there's problems. dealers keep says oh its ok. not true. i want a new vehicle. i just got it. they can shove it. losses power when it wants to. i plug a charger into the ports the radio goes static. i mean wtf . *tr

While driving on i-20 from dallas to lubbock, i attempted to pass a vehicle in the on-coming lane. when i hit the gas pedal, the truck went into vigorous shaking, and the engine lost all power to accelerate. i was three hours into the trip, the truck had been cruise controlled for over 60 miles, and it had been raining the entire way. when the truck did this, a vehicle (in on-coming lane) appeared and i had to slam on the brakes to return behind the car i attempted to pass. the shaking of the truck made it difficult to control and i had to pull over in fear of my safety, and ultimately my life. had i not acted when i did, i might have been seriously injured or killed. dealerships are unable to replicate the problem because it has not been the same conditions as my experience. this problem needs to be fixed before someone gets killed. *tr

Engine shakes and loses power when you try and speed up. *tr

While towing my camper at 60 mph up an incline my 5.0l f150 began to lose power, as i increased pressure on the accelerator the power to the vehicle decreased even more. the service engine light came on and i limped up the hill at a whopping 20mph on the interstate. once on the downgrade the vehicle came back up to speed and the service engine light went off. the truck continued to have power issues and a knocking from the motor when i was climbing hills. i took the vehicle to the ford garage and they told me there were no codes to tell them what was wrong. the vehicle still has the apparent miss and knocking sound at certain rpm's and now has an issue starting for the first time of the day. i again took it to the ford garage when the starting issue was happening and they told me again that the vehicle still had no codes to explain this problem. i tried all of the easy fixes but the vehicle still has the same starting and power loss issues and ford can not tell me what is going on with my vehicle. my best guess is a catalytic converter issue, but i can do nothing about it until i know for sure. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving at approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technician stated that the vehicle was operating as designed, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the spark plugs needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 15,500.

While driving at about 45 mph there was a total loss of power. the engine continued to run but missing badly. coasted off the road, stopped and when ignition was turned off and restarted the problem corrected itself. this has happened 2 times in the past two weeks. the dealer won't do anything because there is no error code recorded. this condition could be dangerous in heavy traffic or pulling a trailer. *tr

I was accelerating up around 45 mph and the vehicle just died to a rough idle. car behind had to swerve to miss me. i was told this is a throttle control board and is a common problem in ford vehicles. please tell ford to recall this problem or they will not recall this part until someone dies it looks like. *tr

I was driving at highway speed and tried to accelerate quickly to pass someone and the truck had major hesitation and shuddering. continues to do this anytime you try to rapidly accelerate. *tr

I have a ford f150 ecoboost. this vehicle is very defective due to loss of power when driving on highway trying to overpass other vehicles..vehicle looses power due to moisture or humidity that enters the intercooler. it also makes the cylinders to misfire and the turbo. due to that engine turns on and i have to power to my vehicle while driving which can cause an accident due to a sudden slow in the middle of the highway.. i have three kids and i wouldn't want any accidents happening due to this.. ford needs to do something about this vehicles i lost my money on a worthless piece of you know.im very disappointed because i've spend so much money on repairs are not working. *tr

Approximately 9 to 10 times i have experienced loss of power shuttering misfires and backfiring only to find fouled spark plugs i have replaced the spark plugs approximately eight times in 10,000 miles due to this condition on this ford eco-boost engine. all tsb's have been completed on the truck yet i still experience this engine problem

I do not have the exact dates as to when the first incident took place. i was entering the e way merging into traffic when i tried to accelerate the vehicles lost power. i was fortunate not to be hit in the back by traffic i had to steer quickly to the side of the road. i have taken this vehicle and two others we own in on multiple occasions for this problem. the different fixes they have tried have not worked and yet i continue to be charged for these fixes. i feel if it is a known problem ford should be taking care of the problem not charging me to try and figure it out. after reading online that i am not the only one having these problems as i have been told i felt it is important to file a complaint before someone is killed. *tr

I was attempting to accelerate hard to merge into traffic onto interstate highway. when i pushed pedal to floor, the vehicle immediately slowed as if a governor had kicked in. fortunately, i had room on shoulder to not get hit, but had to wait and pump pedal twice before it began to accelerate again. i have not tried to replicate the problem. i had an identical problem 3 years ago in another ecoboost ford f150 that nearly killed me. i attempted to pass another vehicle and realized that i needed hard acceleration and the vehicle immediately slowed. there was no where to go, but fortunately my fellow motorists realized i had a problem and let me back into my lane without a multi-vehicle crash. i asked my dealer about that then, and was told that never had been reported. i immediately traded that truck for the one i have now that day. *tr

Water from the cac was ingested into the engine causing a misfire. this is the 8th time it has happened to me. i have had all tsb's completed by ford and the issue still persists. the ecoboost engines are unsafe. this loss of power while merging has causes me to narrowly escape accidents 2 out of the 8 incidents. i noticed that the nhtsa closed an investigation into the ecoboost issues earlier this year. i'm suggesting that the nhtsa re-open that investigation. the tsb's are not fixing these issues and it is only a matter if time before someone is seriously injured. please contact me with any questions. *tr

While attempting to accelerate and pass slower traffic on the highway, my 2011 f150 (4x4, ecoboost) truck lost almost all engine power, the check engine light started to blink, and the entire truck shook violently. due to the truck's sudden deceleration without brake lights signaling it, oncoming traffic (including a large tractor/trailer) approached from behind rapidly and everyone had to brake abruptly to avoid a collision. i turned on my hazard lights, pulled the truck to the right shoulder and sat there for a few minutes while i called work to inform them that i would likely have to wait for a tow truck and be delayed. during that call, the engine light stopped blinking and the truck began running normally again. i reentered the highway when traffic was clear and the truck proceeded to run normally until i reached my workplace (roughly 2-3 more miles on the highway and about 5 miles through the city). a less severe instance of this occurred months before. in that case, there was a short power lag upon attempted acceleration, the check engine light blinked 2-3 times and then stopped blinking and the truck did not shake at all. the whole episode disappeared as quickly as it appeared after letting off the accelerator for a second or two. i believed it was a one-off thing. after today's much more severe episode, it is clearly not a one-off and obviously has the potential to cause an unsafe situation. conditions (in central pa) at the time of today's occurrence (7:45am): temp: 69f, humidity: 96%, overcast (not raining), wind: 0mph, truck speed: about 65mph, a/c: on auto set to 72f, load: driver w/ personal belongings (no extra load). *tr

This is a ford ecoboost truck that is turbocharged. during a heavy rain on interstate 95 i tried to accelerate from about 5 mph and the truck lost power and barely moved. after about 30 seconds the truck regained power and moved ahead. there were 2 other instances on this trip also during rain.. the second time the check engine light came on and stayed on. upon returning home i searched the internet and found out i am not alone in this. there have been 3 tsb's to effect a repair. i made an appointment with the dealer. the engine code was a misfire on cylinder #6. tsb 13-08-01 was applied and i was billed $255.66. this problem needs a recall and repairs made before someone is badly hurt. i was nearly rear ended on the interstate. the problem is high humidity condenses in the intercooler (cac) or charge air cooler as ford calls it. then a sudden acceleration causes the condensed water to enter the engine grounding out the spark plugs on the left side of the engine causing a loss of power and stall. this has also been known to damage the left catalytic converter. why must i pay to fix a design flaw? ford needs to recall all of these trucks and repair them. this is not a mileage based problem but is inherent in all of them. during the right conditions it will happen. *tr

Hello, we wish to file a complaint on the 3.5 l eco boost engine in our 2011 f150. we have had numerous issues of shuttering, lurching, "lag", loss of power/lack of response. we first had this issue passing a semi on a 2 lane highway july 2014, no there was no fog/rain. it immediately shuttered, shook, lurched (coughed/sputtered) loosing power as we were passing. we made maneuvers to get to the shoulder where it struggled to stay engaged. we could have been hit head on, rear ended, side-broaded by the semi or worse, a combination of all 3. not to mention stranded. we have read of other issues, lawsuits and complaints being filed. the "shield" did not work (we have it, installed 8/2014 & flashed comp) it happened again two days in a row last week. the truck had no load either time, what if we were/are pulling our trailer? (the reason we bought this 60k truck, ford said it would) now they claim spark plugs are fowled, that is a new "fix". (not covered) however that is a separate "carbon tracking" plug issue, (the next "issue" could be the ignition plugs fowling due to carbon tracking from the moisture issue) the problem is not plugs, the major problem is moisture! ford is not addressing the moisture problem causing the "failure". they are fixing symptoms of the issue. the problem-moisture in the pistons water & engines do not mix! they have not fixed the problem which should fall under lemon law. next there will be a terrible accident (if not fatal) due to the loss of power/response, what then? "..it was operator error, they slowed/stopped in the middle of the lane in traffic"..tests are exactly what they are; tests. we are every day life; drive the truck for transportation, not petal-metal 24/7, "grocery getters", value our truck. since when are our lives indispensable or not important? when is any one going to do something about this safety issue before someone dies? *tr

As i was merging onto the highway, i had to accelerate to avoid a semi who was approaching in the right lane. i hard accelerated, but the truck started shaking and the check engine light began flashing. i had lost all acceleration and was forced to put my flashers on and merge to the break-down lane to avoid being run completely off the highway. the truck shook violently while in 6th gear and i had to manually shift to 5th gear to stop the truck from vibrating apart. less than 10 minutes later (while driving down the highway in 5th gear) the check engine light turned off and the truck was able to be shifted back into 6th without any vibration. this lack of acceleration is extremely dangerous and has happened more times than i can count. above was only an explanation of the last occurrence. the truck has been serviced (under warranty) where issue was discussed with ford, but they were unable to "reproduce" the problem... *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle lost power, came to a complete stop, and the rear wheels locked up. in addition, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate. in addition, the steering wheel completely seized and the rpms increased. multiple warning lights illuminated. the failures recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train); however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 40,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.

While attempting to pass a slower vehicle on a two lane road, my truck lost all power and the check engine light began blinking. i was in the on-coming travel lane adjacent to the vehicle i was passing when the incident occurred. the incident nearly caused an accident as the vehicle i was passing slowed down when i lost power an i was unable to immediately get over. i coasted with a rough running engine to the shoulder and shut off the engine. when i restarted it a few minutes later it ran a little rough and the check engine light remained on. research shows that this is a know issue for this make model with the ecoboost engine. the ford dealership, while having a tsb in place for the issue, did not notify me of the issue and will not cover the cost of the recommended service under either the power-train warranty or my ford extended warranty (bumper-to-bumper has expired). this is a huge safety issue and this should be a recall from ford to fix these issues and they apparently will not take the initiative to do so on their own. the incident occurred in southwestern missouri on a day in which it had been raining off and on. *tr

Driving down the highway at 75 mph for an extended period of time in high humidity. pushed the pedal down to pass a couple trucks going up a mountain and the engine began misfiring and stuttering. there was loss of power and vehicle went into limp mode with flashing check engine light. failed to passed the trucks causing a dangerous condition by producing unexpected results. this problem is detailed in ford's tsb 13-8-1. i believe that this is a dangerous condition and a recall should be issued for this condition. *tr

I own a 2011 f150 4x4 supercrew ecoboost, this is the second time i've had this problem. i was pulling a trailer weight approx 2500lbs on the highway going up hill for an extended period of time. my truck loss all power and i barley made it to the top of the hill. i pulled over checked out the truck and the problem disappeared. the 1st time this happened i took it to the dealer and they did the tsb, replaced all spark plugs and replace one ignition coil. cost around $800 but the problem still happens, i'm afraid to put any load on the engine. this is a problem with condensation in the inter cooler that causes a miss fire but ford will not address the problem. i'm hoping for a recall soon before someone is seriously hurt or killed by this malfunction. *js

As i was merging onto highway 694 north, i had to accelerate because of a semi approaching me from behind, i gave the truck full throttle but the truck started shaking and the engine felt like it quit or just had no power left. the truck struggled to reach 55mph, and within seconds i almost got rear-ended and almost ran off the highway, do to the fact that my truck had no power. after i merged onto the highway the truck shook violently for about 3 miles while my check engine light was flashing. during this time it felt as though my truck had lost 50% of its power. *tr
