I have owned my ford truck for almost 8 years and i have experienced nothing but bad luck with this engine and me and other ford owners agree that this engine is 1 of the worst engines that ford has produced and they know it. and are reluctant to do anything about it. and its costing me thousands to replace spark plugs and camphasers. my truck now will stall when put in reverse. it also has a loud ticking noise to it. i know its the camphasers again which i already replace about 4 years ago.this truck is costing me more than its worth. i only have 85000 miles on it. ford needs to do something about this problem. me and other ford owners of this model cant keep slamming money into something that is a complete failure from the start. this truck is dangerous and the problem needs solved. *tr

1. brake dot 3 is running out after several months. when i apply the brakes, the vehicle keeps going. in order to keep the vehicle running, i must push down the brake very hard to stop the vehicle. i have to constantly refill the oil tank. 2. when driving on the highway and the speed reaches at around 45-65 mph, the vehicle automatically loses power and hit at 3-5 mph before stopping. after i completely turn off and reset the battery, the vehicle starts normal again. the vehicle happened from 2009 to current time, but the odb scan does not detect any code or errors.

Bought truck new, has an engine ticking that continues to get louder. properly serviced as per owners manual. engine needs replaced per mechanic.

First off i want to say that i work for ford and i am very disappointed that the first of the two issue i have hasn't been recalled and i'm not 100% sure about the dates that these problems occurred on. my truck has sounded like it has a diesel engine in it since i bought it brad new in 2005 and after talking to some guys at work i find out that it is caused by cam phasers that are in the 2004-07 5.4litre engines and if these fail you have to get a new motor which i was told just a couple of months ago would be $8900.00 which is absolutely crazy. if you look them up online you will see that this is a huge and costly problem. my second issue is i have had my rearend rebuilt twice since i have owned this vehicle. the first time was before it was out of it 36,000 mile factory warranty, the second time was before it was out of the 100,000 extended warranty that i purchased so luckily those two times did not cost me anything but now it needs it again and the mechanic tell me it could cost $5000 so with the motor issue and the rearend issue i could possibly spend $14,000 in repairs which again is crazy when you spent close to $50,000.00 on the vehicle to begin with. *tr

Constant ticking noise from engine, sounds like a diesel engine, remains ticking the entire time./ when applying brakes either on a hard stop or rolling over traction in road, grinding feeling in pedal and noise and will not stop immediately.-----was told by dealership that the "ticking" was typical for ford and the brakes was part of the antilock system, i do not think so. *tr

The coil packs and plugs have been changed on different times and the vehicle still has the same problems. ford has to find a better solution to fix these ongoing issues so the customer does not have to keep paying all this money for the same problems over and over again. engine lost power on several occasions and shakes when idling. paint on front of vehicle started peeling off. all service work has been conducted a t a ford dealership since the vehicle was purchased except for today with (2) more coil packs had to be installed at a local garage. this is apparently a big problem and something has to be done about it or ford will find good customers going to other vehicle brands. *tr
