Multiple window regulator assembly failures during normal use of the vehicle and even parked in some instances. it happens randomly and causes much stress. if you are driving in the extreme heat, snow or a heavy rain storm you can do nothing about it. if you have passengers especially small children they will have to suffer until you can get to a service station or have the tools on hand to fix it. once the window falls you are exposed to the elements with no protection from having the window up. the window falls into the door and you cannot get the window back up unless you take the door panel off and manually shove the window up and place something there to hold it. i have had the parts replaced every time and it continues to happen and to multiple people. it has happened to me five times in three years.

I bought this truck with 48,000 miles on it. it had a bad shake in the rear area. also a bad brake shimmy. took to ford dealership i bought it. couldn't find anything wrong. told normal! i worked in the service dept of a ford dealership i know normal. 53,000 or so miles bad clunking from transfer area wouldn't go into 4 wheel drive 1/2 the time took to ford, told nothing wrong again. 72,000 miles transmission goes out. told nothing could be done, out by 2000 miles. i was a service manager for a ford dealership they could do a supplement on the warranty. i asked for 1/2 of cost told no. even after documentation of all the services and complaints told to bad so sad. this truck has had transmission troubles, 4 wheel drive trouble, the power window switch fell apart in the door and a bad brake shimmy even after i had a 4 wheel brake job done, its still there. no help from ford at all! *tr

Driving on the freeway at approximately 70 miles per hour i activated the vehicles' cruise control system. without warning the vehicles' interior lighting came on and i subsequently noticed that the vehicle had died ( engine, was no longer running). in a panic, i attempted to turn the ignition key with negative results. i cautiously pulled to the shoulder of the freeway, placed the transmission in park and turned the ignition key to the off position. i then turned the key to the starting position and the vehicle started again. this occurred on two separate occasions. an additional issue with the vehicles air conditioning system has happened several times wherein (usually within the first couple minutes of start up) when the air conditioning is turned on, on the "auto" setting, for example at the 60 degree setting on high, the system will intermittently turn off and then turn on displaying 72 degrees, then turn off, maybe back on again etc., blowing at a much lower speed. addressed complaints with ford dealership, however, (as always) they were unable to duplicate problem. inquired about any service bulletins and informed that there were none. thank you for your time. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled when the brake pedal was depressed. when the failure occurred, the check engine indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. the dealer repaired the failure and they stated that the sensors failed; however, the failure still persists. the vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately two times. the ford manufacturer issued a recall for the power booster line. the vehicle has not been taken in to have the recall repaired. the failure mileage was 18,000 and current mileage was 35,820.

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f150. when the contact activated the headlights, the instrument panel lights would dim. as a result, the gauges became difficult to see. she took the vehicle to the dealer on three different occasions and was informed that the issue was a safety feature in order to prevent glare on the driver's eyes at night. the dealer did nothing to repair the vehicle during the first visit. during the second and third visits, the dealer offered no remedy. the manufacturer stated that she did not have a legitimate complaint and referred her to the service manager at the dealer. the current mileage was 11,382 and failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

When vehicle's engine is cold, and approximately 8 minutes into driving, vehicle will cut off while in motion & wrench light comes on. vehicle then has to be guided to a stop with no power or can be shifted into neutral & restarted while still moving. following vehicle restart engine light is on. code indicates truck has been placed in "limp home mode". after about 2 weeks, engine light goes off. i was advised to replace the throttle body in feb. 2010, however the throttle body had just been replaced in april 2007 when the vehicle was only 2 years old. *tr

On december 22, 2006, the contact had used the cruise control and it smelled like something electrical was burning. he turned off the vehicle and when he returned 2 hours later the smell had dissipated. the contacted stated that on december 28, 2006 his 2005 ford f150 crew cab caught on fire. he had been driving approximately 8 minutes. the contact was driving approximately 35-40 mph. the weather conditions were dry. the contact stated smoke started coming up out of the dash board. there were no warning signs or alarms. he pulled over to the side of the road and was only able to roll the window down a quarter of an inch. the doors on the vehicle would not open. the contact had to keep banging his shoulder against the door and jiggling the handle before the door would open. the contact was using the cruise control. the police and fire department came to the scene. the contact was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. the vehicle became completed engulfed in flames. the contact has a police report and fired department report. kb

I was on a trip out of town and i smelt something burning. few minutes later, i saw smoke coming out of the corner center console. i pulled over to investigate and saw a light shining through the side of my console that didn't belong there. when i turned off my headlights and the light would turn off and stop melting the plastic of the console. this could have been worse for me had it not been daylight! it turns out it was the light that connects to the gear shift to illuminate the letters (p, r, d, etc.) had not been screwed in tightly at the manufacture. ford replaced the console, the connection bracket and the light socket as they had melted together. my husbands light in his f150 unscrewed too, but didn't cause any damage. *nm

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle's factory key was defective and does not start the vehicle. the vehicle included 3 keys; 2 good and 1 defective. any time a good key was used to lock the door, the defective key does not work at all when attempting to start the vehicle. the defective key worked if it used to lock the door before starting up. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who programmed another key, but the problem persisted. the vehicle was brought back to the dealer who expressed that another key could not be reprogrammed because of the way the vehicle was manufactured. the manufacturer was contacted three times and suggested that the vehicle be taken to another dealer. the other dealer could not duplicate the problem, and offered no resolution.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 30 mph, smoke was noticed coming from the engine. the vehicle was maneuvered off the road where the contact put out the fire before the fire department arrived. the contact determined the ignition wiring harness started the fire. a police report was taken. the vehicle was towed to the dealer to await inspection. *ak

I recently bought a 2005 ford f-150 xl, in the two months that i have had this truck i've had nothing but problems with it. the ignition switch has blown fuses, causing the truck to not start, but sometimes it takes 3-4 turns of the key to get it started, either the engine does nothing or it will hesitate for 5-6 seconds before finally turning over. i am also having problems with the truck stalling. most commonly the stalling occurs while sitting at a red light but it has stalled while i was moving causing me to lose power steering until i could get the truck started again. the passenger door was off line and wouldn't always shut right causing noise and rain to get in. i was missing screws on the door panels witch caused a constant rattling from both sides of the truck. the doors have been fixed by the service department where i bought the truck, but it is still by no means quite in there, and nobody can permanently fix the engine troubles because they don't know why it's happening. this truck is not a safe and dependable way of transportation for me or my one year old son who is sometimes with me. *jb
