Experience i guess the they call it the death wobble. makes my vehicle feel like it not me a ting to run right the steering is weird and can't get ford to check it out to see what's going on with it they say just get an alignment but that isn't helping
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. after replacing the tires on the vehicle, the contact heard a cracking noise when the vehicle was placed on a lift. the independent mechanic confirmed the frame was rusted through to the point that it was unsafe to place on the lift. the vehicle was taken back to frederick motor company (1 waverley dr, frederick, md 21702, (800) 734-9118). the contact was informed that they could not assist since the vehicle was not included in a recall. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 57,000.*bf*jb
Two mechanics and one autobody technician inspected the truck and reported that the chassis is heavily corroded throughout for the vehicle's age and is not safe for towing. one mechanic reported that the rear end of the truck would require over $1,000 of welded steel reinforcements to make truck towe worthy. also gas tank can fell due to the tank holder streeps are attached to the corroted chassis.
Truck will not pass inspection due to frame rust on both sides of the truck.
Yes a drunk driver ran into me and i think the officer let him just call his wife to come get him cause he was to drunk to drive and it was maybe involving him doing on repairs to the officers car the reason he got off scot free, i may could understand it but he like broad sided me and sent me flying across the seat and i saw him take off and so i was reaching around the steering wheel to try and make a sharper turn and give it some more gas evidently it did not work cause this was june 2 of 2018 and my shoulder is still hurt,he has insurance i have insurance but after the emergency room visit i have not been able to hire a lawyer,i have not even been able to get a doctor to tell me what's wrong with my shoulder,i can't get into an ortho group cause they say we don't take third party checks ,i finally got into the regional one in memphis and made the appointment 4 months ago,and still have a month to go ,it is not fair,i have contacted the attorney general of mississippi and washington,i have sent emails to the senator the governor and they referred back to my local representatives which i haven't heard back from them and that was a couple months ago,i only get about 3 hours sleep at a time and have been living off my savings for the last 8 months ,it is almost gone and when i do get in i am not sure if i will even have the money by then to pay for the gas to get back and forth during the procedure of getting my shoulder fixed,i think you need to use the money from buzzed driving is drunk driving and use it to help the innocent people that have been injured in a wreck by a drunk driver especially if the officers don't i force the law, because when there is no law enforcement there is no law in my eyes,my name is [xxx] and i live in [xxx] and i have a lot more to add to this story but evidently don't have enough space, please help information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cc *tr
There is a current recall for this same issue but its till 2004, but should be expanded. i have a 2005 f150 with the same issues as a 2004 f150 and the chassis suffers from massive corrosion. my truck is deemed unsafe to drive. the frame is rotting through and very dangerous to drive. it can separate at any time. the truck only has 88k miles and it could separate at anytime. if involved in an accident it can be fatal. nhtsa you need to investigate and recall this serious issue right away and save peoples lives.
I have a 2005 f150 fx4 that i bought in 2010. in 2017 with the truck being 12 years old. i had to remove the vehicle from the road because of frame rot! this was my baby and taken well care of. both sides in front of the rear axle are rotted out to the point a jack just goes right through them. the inspection failed because if they would have lifted it, it would have folded in half. also has a broken front left coil spring. i should have a vehicle worth around 8-10 grand that is going to sell for scrap metal priced. why are american auto maker not held responsible for making defective vehicles? my previous vehicle was an 199o toyota tacoma that had a frame rot recall and mine was spotless. fast forward, bought an american made vehicle that cost me 15 grand and got 6 and a half years out of and no one holding ford responsible! sickening!
Frame rusted and cracked, 72,000 miles. i'm the original owner. note, all other underbody components appear normal for age and miles; though i don't have too much faith in rear drive shaft. location is in front leaf spring attachment bracket adjacent to fuel tank.
Ford f 150 cracked rear frame rails truck made in 2004 they had a recall for trucks made in 2004 but my truck is titled as a 2005 they must still have had bad frames left over they used to build 2005 trucks rear of truck is floating when you drive it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. the contact took his vehicle in for inspection and was informed that the vehicle failed because both front coil springs were fractured. it was diagnosed that the coil springs failed and needed to be repaired. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 49,433. updated 06/01/17*lj *cn
My f150 frame is rusted through where it actually broke i work as a welder and i have fixed 3 diffrant trucks f150 around the same year it is mostly on drivers side.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. while shifting into reverse, the front driver side and rear lower control arm fractured. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the passenger side lower control arm and the sway bar links needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 167,050.
Turning left into south bound lane of a highway when the right front upper control arm assembly caused the tire to detach from the that area. the tire landed on the highway however remained attached from the lower assembly. due to the momentum of the vehicle was able to get across the highway to prevent a collision. vehicle was towed to an automotive repair center. the right front upper control arm assembly was completely rusted through
The lower ujoint on the steering column is freezing up from corrosion. in the past i had noticed it was getting harder to steer so i would spray the joints with penetrating oil and they would improve. today the joints were so bad it was as if the power steering had given out, to the point i pulled over to check that i didn't blow a power steering hose. i will not let my wife drive this truck until the part is replaced but at a cost of $200 for the part it will have to be parked for a while. i understand normal wear but this is common enough to draw some attention i hope. *tr
I just wanted to add my vehicle to the list of complaints about the differential. mine makes noise and has made noise for quite some time. i thought it might be the tires or rotors. i found out that it was coming directly from the rear differential. based on the complaints i have heard, i am pretty sure this is the same thing. the noise sounds like metal running on metal. i believe this should be something ford should pay to fix. if i have to pay for it, i'm definitely not using ford. i read that's many people have the same complaints. this failure is security public problems, because accidental or crash may occur. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. the contact stated that the air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the technician diagnosed that the seat belt pretensioner and stabilizer bar needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. however, the dealer advised the contact that the seat belts were not covered under warranty. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 33,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford f150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the rear driver side shock absorber malfunctioned. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the defect was caused by a rusted sub frame. the manufacturer was notified of the defect but no solution was offered. the failure mileage was 13,000.
The vehicle is a 2005 ford f 150. shock fell off doing 30 miles mph. took to my body shop to repair. said i needed to go to dealer. i bought it brand new. dealer was no help he said he had never seen a frame as bad as mine. when i asked what and to do, he told me to decide for myself what to do. the frame and suspension were so bad he said the vehicle was unsafe to drive. confirmed by another ford dealership. i now have a vehicle which is ford's signature truck which may simply go to the junk yard. all said it can not be fixed. i would need a new frame for ca. 18000. not worth repairing. called ford and they simply said there was nothing they could do. it is evident the frame was defective when assembled. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. while parked, the contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the front passenger side coil spring was fractured. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technician advised the contact that the front passenger side coil spring would have to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
While sitting at rest, the left front coil spring broke at the bottom rung. the engine was not running and the truck was unloaded. i heard a loud snap and the truck shook. no parts or fragments were released and the break was clean and rather even across the body of the spring. the stance of the truck has been altered although no change in drivablility to date (next day). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. the contact stated that the cover on the rear differential rusted, causing oil to leak. the contact was concerned that the leaking oil could cause the rear differential to seize and cause a crash. the contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic where the pan that caused the leak was replaced. the failure mileage was 30,400. updated 09/27/11 *bf updated 110/07/11
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. the vehicle was taken for inspection when the contact was informed that both front lower ball joints were worn and would need to be replaced. the contact did not inform the dealer or manufacturer nor was the vehicle repaired. the current and failure mileages were 36,500. updated 05/04/11 *bf updated 05/31/11
I bought truck in aug 2008 with vibration in steering wheel and the tires were cupped. i replaced the struts, shocks and tires and an alignment was done at that time. the vibration continued, so all the rotors and brakes pads were replaced and the parking brakes adjusted. the truck still shakes violently as if tires are out of balance or about to fall off the truck. i have not found a solution other than to stop driving the vehicle and waiting for 15 minutes before driving again (i do not know if this helps, but feel better doing so). as of the last occurrence (not towing anything), i noticed the shaking begin before a fuel fill-up and then stop after the fill-up. i will note the vibration occurred at the 3/4 fill mark and continued until the 1/2 fuel fill mark was reached. i was able to drive for the next 1/4 tank of fuel with no incidence. the violent vibration returned at the 3/4 tank mark and ceased upon reaching the 1/2 tank fill mark . the vibration stopped for the next 1/4 tank and only marginally returned upon reaching the final 1/4 fuel fill mark. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. whenever the contact accelerated from a complete stop, the rear end of the vehicle began to shake with a whining noise. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for inspection. the rear wheel bearings were replaced. the whining noise occurred whenever traveling at a highway speed rate. the current and failure mileages were 83,000.
1. as i was leaving the wal-mart parking lot the right front upper ball joint on my 1995 ford f-150 4x4 broke apart and disabled the vehicle. the ball joint manufacturer apparently did not put grease in the joint when it was manufactured. 2. i do not know how often this part fails on the ford f-150. it failed on my vehicle at 62k miles due to a manufacturing deficiency. fortunately the failure was at parking lot speed. had it occurred at highway speeds i could have easily been killed and possibly killed others as the vehicle was uncontrollable when the part failed. 3. i had the vehicle hauled to the local ford dealer and they replaced it at a cost of over $500. fearing that the left front might also fail i had it replaced for a total cost $1,071.94. i requested that all parts be saved and provided to me and have all that were provided. i discovered upon examination that they did not include the rust pitted ball joint in the parts they provided me but the torn open joint assembly and rest of the parts are included. the ford dealer who made the repairs and the president of ford motor company through his representative have refused to provide any warranty on this defective part as there is currently no recall in place on this vehicle for this part. i do not know if this occurs often but they had the parts in stock for the right front repair. when i asked for the left front to be repaired they had to order those parts in. i have documentation of this matter and my attempts to get the repairs covered under warranty. i have driven many ford vehicles over the past 45 years in excess of 100k miles (one over 200k miles) and have never had up upper ball joint fail. this is clearly a manufacturing defect and constitutes a danger to any driver of the f-150. *tr
I bought a truck at selinsgrove ford about a month ago. the night i got it home i noticed it sounded like a diesel.. that was fine then when you get up to about 55mph its has a bad shimmy and i had it back a couple of different time and they say they don't know what to do about it now. it had to be wrecked or something because there was a crease on the bumper and the drivers side door needed adjusted. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. while driving 45-55 mph, the vehicle experiences moderate to severe shaking. the road conditions are not a factor. the shaking is so severe that the contact has to stop the vehicle. the brakes, brake pads, and rotors were changed, but that has not remedied the failure. the windshield wipers also raised away from the windshield when the shaking occurred. when the contact shut off the engine and restarted the vehicle, the shaking stopped. all four of the tires were replaced. the dealer disassembled and rebuilt the emergency brake, which was dragging and wore out the lining. the approximate failure and current mileages were 45,000. updated 09/10/08. *lj the consumer stated the problem was intermittent. updated 09/12/08. *jb
I bought this truck with 48,000 miles on it. it had a bad shake in the rear area. also a bad brake shimmy. took to ford dealership i bought it. couldn't find anything wrong. told normal! i worked in the service dept of a ford dealership i know normal. 53,000 or so miles bad clunking from transfer area wouldn't go into 4 wheel drive 1/2 the time took to ford, told nothing wrong again. 72,000 miles transmission goes out. told nothing could be done, out by 2000 miles. i was a service manager for a ford dealership they could do a supplement on the warranty. i asked for 1/2 of cost told no. even after documentation of all the services and complaints told to bad so sad. this truck has had transmission troubles, 4 wheel drive trouble, the power window switch fell apart in the door and a bad brake shimmy even after i had a 4 wheel brake job done, its still there. no help from ford at all! *tr
I own a ford f-150 pickup truck. the rear caliper is broken and the front struts are leaking. i only have 34,000 miles on this vehicle. please e-mail me back with info about this problem. thank you lionel parent *tr
Purchased a 2005 ford f150 supercab truck on july 22, 2007 and have had to replace the tires 4 times within the last year due to rapid wear of the front tires. i have taken it to repair shops and had the front end and suspension check by 3 different tech's and they have all said that everything is to specs. what can i do to have this problem fixed. *tr
2005 ford f-150 super crew 4x4: truck shutters around 50 mph. ford dealer says one of my tires are bad(disintegrating)? tire dealer shows no record of this happening with the tires i have on my vehicle. waited several thousand miles, had tires balanced by tire dealer, all four tires balance to "0"(zero), no tire disintegration per tire dealer. truck still shutters under power. trying lincoln mercury dealer to see what their mechanics come up with.
The 2005 f150 supercrew has a shutter in the rear end when accelerating from a complete stop. a family friend had alerted us about ford's service bulletin about this problem, but has not issued a recall to the best of my knowledge. our friend, a mechanic, felt the problem were the bearings in the rear end, so he installed all new bearings, however, this has not solved the problem. my vehicle only has 51,000 miles on it and it should not have problems like this. also, the engine has a knock in it. a local mechanic stated ford was also aware of this problem and will not issue a recall!*ak
I had about 9500 miles on my 2005 f150 when the alignment needed repair. i had it aligned at a local dealer, and they couldn't get my steering wheel straight with the road. had taken back several times, and they still could not fix the problem. truck still has a hard pull to the left when steering wheel is straightened out. *jb
Dt*: the contact stated there was a loud roaring noise coming from rear end. the vehicle has been to three dealerships. new pinion gears, and new carriage bearings were replaced but the roaring sound persisted.
Dt*: the contact stated the front end vibrated at 45mph and above. the vehicle was taken to the local dealership for inspection numerous times. the dealer replaced the driveshaft, transmission mounts, cut the rotors and tightened the pinion in the rear end. although these repairs were made, this did not remedy the problem.
Please help a consumer! i question the safety and long term value of the new ford f150 trucks my name is [xxx] and i am writing you as a last ditch effort to inform the public about a production issue with the ford f150 trucks that vibrate under normal driving conditions. about three months ago i purchased a new f150 and from that point i have had a vibration and transmission issue. ford has not been able to correct it and in the process i found that the dealership i bought the truck from forged some invoice documents. i was shocked to find this problem all over the country when i started to look into it. you can see for yourself if you search google for topics like "2005 f150 vibration". if you would like, i could send you a list of websites to help. in all fairness to ford they deserve a chance to inform the public about this and i am in the process of working with a lawyer to get my money back. i have attached a copy of my nightmare to this email and just wanted to let you know i have followed every protocol set by ford. i have also noticed that ford just likes to have problems delayed and expect people to run out of money when trying to recover their original purchase. you will also find emails attached from people across the country with the same problem. this story is not a waste of your time. please feel free to search the internet, you will find all the supporting information you need. can you please find the time to help get the word out and make things right? i just want my money back and do not want anyone else to fall into this trap. help from the press would not allow ford motor company to stonewall people. lets give ford a chance to help the consumer. call anytime [xxx] - i am willing to provide all supporting info including service records, research, and contacts from across the usa. thanks [xxx]. *nm information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Excessive tire wear on all four tires in a 9 month time span. had dealership look at the truck and was told that the alignment was off and it wasn't up to them to take care of the alignment but was told to contact tire manufacturer. while talking to the manufacturer rep on the phone she advised that she had read memos from ford about problems with the alignment specs on the vehicle. ford continues to refuse any kind of warranty work. *jb
Had my f150 for less than 3 months when noticed the vibration when applying the brakes, also has rough idle, and rough suspension. took to dealer they stated nothing wrong... well now its been about 9 month and the vibration has gotten so bad that when brakes are applied you get the steering wheel shaking along with the truck. again i took to the dealer now they tell me my rotors are warped and i need an alignment and new tires cause it ate the tread off the inside of the tires, and they want to charge me $400.00. i talked to the tire warranty department he even said that it shouldn't be happening along with many others. but ford service says it normal.....now i am driving a truck with kids that is unsafe. are they wanting for people to die before they correct this problem?? *jb
My paint job was defective and thin, my windshield was not sealed properly, there are ticking noises from under the dashboard, the front end is too heavy for the added weight to the truck, the transmission stalls the truck when it rolls backwards in drive, the truck shakes at high speeds and has excessive tire wear, which is the only thing that ford has all but admitted to by extending the excessive tire wear/ride harshness warranty from 1yr/12,000 miles to 3yrs/36,000 miles. have you ever heard of a car company giving away something unless there was a serious problem with this vehicle. *nm
2005 ford f150 super cab experiencing problems getting out of a u-turn.***no answer required***. *mr the wheel should go back to dead center after have completed a turn. also, when driving at highway speeds the truck wandered both to the right and left. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who explained that the problem was normal. *bf
