I have a 2004 f-150 that has spit two spark plugs out with in a year. the second one caught fire . there has been this issue with many owners of ford trucks and is a on going issue ford won't take care of. napa auto parts has a repair kit made just for this issue with ford engines. the cost is $ 73.00 plus having someone do the repair. *tr

Cng regulator leaking compressed natural gas into engine compartment. *tr

F-150 - 2004 ford. experiencing two mechanical issues. the most concerting is the fuel fumes/toxic smell that enters the cab. secondary is engine knock. the vehicle's warranty expires in approx. 5k miles. vehicle has been diagnosed and odor confirmed, however, no trouble code was given, therefore, ford dealership can't make repairs without approval of ford, who won't approve without valid trouble codes. the fumes are toxic and must be hazardous to the health of our family.*cn

This will be the third time advising nhtsa and ford concerning the same problems stated before.those are the the rear end shuddering upon acceleration, the whining noise from the rear end, the automatic transmission slippage, the whining noise from the power steering unit and last but not least the brakes constant squealing.i have gone to three different ford service centers in three differeent states.ny,nj,nc.of all the dealerships svc centers mahwah ford in nj spent the most time investigating these problems.shultz ford ny and cella ford nc forget them (no help what so ever just a bunch of lame people with lame excuses)total visits 6 and nothing has been replaced even upon my insistance. i owned a 1998 f-150(best truck to date) i'm sorry that i traded it in for this 2004 bucket of bolts. *ak

The computer processor will not retain any information, causing the vehicle to shutdown completely. the consumer took vehicle to the dealer, and it remained there for 21 days while this problem was being repaired. the repairs were done and the consumer received the vehicle back, but the problem recurred. *ak the vehicle broke down while in motion. after the second time the fuel pump was replaced it broke down again. *sc

I purchased this vehicle aug. 31,2004. at approximately 700 miles the vehicle was returned to the dealer for vibration in the steering wheel and tires. after multiple attempts to repair the problem no solution has been found. i have been informed by the dealer that ford is aware of this problem and is working on it but at this the vehicle can not be repaired. the engine has a rough idle when hot, or sitting at a stop light, this roughness transfers to the transmission when driving. the dealer states ford will not allow repairs to be made for this problem at this time. i am very dissatisfied with this product and the manufacturers response.*ak

Tailgate straps are the same length, but when you put pressure on the tailgate, only the lh tailgate strap supports the tailgate. the truck has vibration and steering wheel nibble problems. they have balanced the tires 4 times, replaced the tires. the fse from ford took the vehicle for a ride and said it needs a new driveshaft. the brake dust is a big problem. you need to wash the wheels daily. ford now has updated pads. i hope they replace them under warranty. two of the rotors are also grooved. the truck has 3000 miles on it. it has been in 5+ times now! the ac unit only had 22 ounces of fliud in it. it is supposed to have 30+. my air was verified to be 8-10 degrees warmer than spec. the gas door (spring) broke. the paint on the hood is flawed. it didn't get fully sprayed on the right front of the hood. both sides of the rear diff. are wet. something is leaking. the seatbelt stitching is coming apart.*ak

The emission light came on. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, and consumer was told that fuel pump was defective. the gauge went out of control. after filling the tank, the gauge read empty. *ak the brake light wiring was inoperative, alignment was out, the vehicle had stuck in park, the right passenger door was inoperative, the speedometer read wrong, and the vehicle would die out. *sc

I just bought a brand new 2004 f150 4.6 l 4x4 super cab on january 31, 2004. upon acceleration there is a noticeable jingling/rattling noise coming from the engine area. i have taken the truck back to the dealership service department 4 times and have talked to fords customer service department numerous times. they claim this is normal vacuum resonance coming from the intake. in my opinion a brand new truck that rattles or jingles upon acceleration has a design defect or there is a defect with my truck. in either case ford ought to fix it. fords position is that this is my problem not their problem. *cb

While the truck was parked at campsite, about midnight, consumer was awakened to find the truck on fire. consumer and others at the campsite extinguished the fire. had truck towed to an automobile clinic, and was informed the fire started from the fuel tank. then, consumer received a recall notice for the same problem.*ak
