F-150 fuel tank mounting strap failure. *tr updated 08/01/11 *bf the consumer stated the forward strap failed. it broke near the frame attach point. the strap was manufactured with a spot weld doubler plate where it attaches to the frame. both straps were severely corroded. the truck is garage kept and shows no signs of corrosion elsewhere. no fuel was spilled and the straps were replaced before total support failure occurred. updated 08/02/11

Consumer was able to smell strong gasoline odors while pulling out of the parking lot. after parking the vehicle onto the driveway consumer noticed fuel leaking onto the ground. consumer found that the fuel heater rail failed, and needed to be replaced. consumer went to the dealer to purchase the part, and replaced the part himself.*ak
