After driving for a little while and then stopping at a stop light i smell exhaust coming in through the vent.i only notice it when at a stop.
Started the ford and the backup camera was not functioning. also noticed the 'sync' screen was blank, climate controls were not visible (functioning) as well as the radio system was not functioning. went out and started the suv in my driveway, everything was correct when i returned home the night before.
I recently got the 2011 ford explorer.i keep getting this odor smell when i first start the car and accelerate.it lasts for 5 minutes, then it goes away. also, i recently started getting this vibration through the gas pedal on highway speeds.the car will shake sometimes.when i brake from highway speeds,my car shakes.i have brought it to ford twice and they charge me $2000 to replace parts, but the problem still persisted.other garage cant seem to figure out whats causing it.
Service power steering warning light came on, code was for left steering control module. one week later, power steering was intermittent, then went out completely. took in to ford dealership, code for safety recall 15n01 came up, ford dealership says my vehicle is covered under recall but ford motor company refuses to fix, stating "no household loyalty", because i've not purchased a ford brand new. when calling ford about the issue, they say they "will stand behind the ford dealerahip in their decision"; yet now that the dealership is ready to fix and waiting for the authorization code from fmc, fmc will not stand behind the dealerships decision.
Car turned off as i was slowing down for a traffic light. panel read " no power to engine" or something to the effect. was not able to take a photo of panel due to i was caught in traffic with cars behind me.
I have leaks through the seat belts on my third row. my car has a mildew odor from these so it has been happening for a while. i had carmax fix a leak that i noticed in 2016 but now 2 yeats later it is really bad. i looked up online possinle fixes and fou d hundreds of owners with the same issue and no fix. ford is very difficult to deal with for the repair. pleas look into this faulty issue and require a welding fix on the seems by ford. seems all information i have found with the issue is with the new explorer body starting with my 2011 year. leak occurs qhen it rained or when car is washed. it is so much water that we currently can not use the third row seatong as a seat. it is constantly wet.
I was turning out of my alley and the car had no power. when i tried to accelerate nothing happened. i had an orange warning light with a wrench come on the dashboard. i turned the car off and then back on and there was no warning light and no issue with the acceleration. dealership couldn't find a problem but this issue is all over the internet and there is a recall for it but not for my vin number or year.
Inside of car fills up with exhaust fumes when driving
Sync 2 problema el radio se friza los mapas tardan en abrir el la cmara de reversa se enciende corriendo funciona algunas veces y otras no el radio se apaga y se enciende a menudo sin razn alguna.
There is a extreme exhaust smell that comes in my truck whenever i turn the heat on. the excessive fumes are causing my children and me to experience dizziness and headaches. the smell only comes in the truck when the heat is on. the smell is still strong even when i crack the windows. it's unbearable at this point and i'm afraid i mat experience an accident, because i'm become so lightheaded. the fumes are still excessive whether the truck is sitting or in motion.
When we take a drive in our ford explorer- our children are getting nausea and vomiting. this has become a constant problem-even on short drives of 30 minutes or less. they complain of headaches as well. we have had to go to the doctors just to get anti nausea medicine hoping it would help, but- it hasn't. there is an emissions problem with our vehicle that is causing major sickness with our young children- ages 11, 8, 7 and 2.
While driving i 77 north (mooresville nc to the back side of stone mountain nc) with the air condition on, i started smelling gas fumes coming through the air vents. my son also smelled the gas fumes. we had to turn the ac off and travel with open windows.. the vehicle was parked while we were on vacation. i didn't smell the fumes as we were returning home but also rode with the widows down a bit as well. i however noticed that while i was not driving the vehicle for several days, that my headache was not with me. i have not used the air condition since i have arrived back in town. i have not felt good for months and had a constant headache, blaming it on stress but now feel that it is a strong possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning caused by my vehicle. i will be calling a dealership to inquire if there is a possible problem and hope to get it fixed.
Strong exhaust smell when you start the car and then again when you accelerate to get on to the highway. intermittent smell as you are driving. it doesnt matter if you are sitting still or on the highway, you will inevitably smell the exhaust. i have been having health issues with my heart that we now believe are related to the carbon monoxide from these fumes.
The explorer was put into park and left running in the driveway as i went into the house to get my kids. when i got out of the car it didn't move at all. while i was getting my kids together i happen to look up and see my explorer crashed into a tree in the backyard. i went out to see what happened and the explorer had gone up a slightly inclined driveway, down a hill, through and aluminum fence, and crashed into a tree. when i opened the driver door the gear shifter still showed in park.
My vehicle produces unbearable smell that gets inside the cabin whenever the rpm reaches 3500 and higher and if the vehicle is in low gear and driving up hill and also when vehicle is idle and you rave up th engine. the smell that gets inside the cabin could make one pass out unless we roll down the windows completely to let a lot of fresh air inside. i went the dealership which i bought the vehicle from the first month and they inspected the car and got back to me that this issue has been already resolved before i had bought the car and its fixed already but its not i've driving the car now for about 5 months and very cautious with it as whenever the incident happens i feel very dizzy by that smell. so the issue never been fixed as my vin number does not have a recale when i checked it on the nhtsa amd in order for the issue to be fixed bin has to be recaled like other similar explorers with the same issue. most of the older modes of police interceptors explorers had recalls for same issue. someone please advice me on how i can go ablut this to get some resolution.
My wife and i bought our explorer less than a week ago and we smell a really bad rotten egg smell, sulfur , carbon monoxide smell in the vehicle badly. we smell it when parked, idling at a stop, accelerating and cruising down the road, so basically in all aspects of driving we smell it. this is very unhealthy for all of us to be breathing this in ecspecially operating a moving vehicle at the rate of speeds upwards to 70mph and having something happen to us while driving. i've seen news articles of police even crashing and civilians because they black out or pass out because of the strong smell. its's so bad it's been giving my wife and i headaches. we have a 1 year old son that rides with us and i can't imagine that's good for him to be breathing in. we have teaches our destinations with very bad headaches. we have researched after we purchased the vehicle and found it's a big problem with all explorers 2011-2015. this is unacceptable and i will not be driving this car until it's fixed because i'm not risking my life and certainly won't be letting my son be exposed to it. ford needs to recall and fix this issue. we bought this vehicle because it was a top rated used suv to buy for our growing family. please contact me about this issue because this needs to be taken care of asap.
I have leaks in my rear cargo area that are elusive but my dealer has been working on resolving the issue. during rainy weather i find water in the rear of my cargo area.
Ford explorer carbon monoxide. when driving car for over 15 mins at a time the cabin fills with a rotten egg smell and causes a severe migraine. if you do not turn ac/heat off and roll down the windows you will become lightheaded and dizzy. kids complain of becoming very sleepy when in the car and the air or heat is on. we have to consistently drive with the windows down to insure that we are not being poisoned with co2. i have taken my explorer in twice now and have been told both times after extensive testing that there is nothing wrong with my car. it does not matter whether you are driving on a highway, city street, or sitting still if you are in the vehicle for more than 15 minutes the co2 starts up if the air or heat is on.
While driving the suv, an orange wrench error came on the dash board. then the suv had no acceleration. i was able to coast to the side of the road, turn off the suv and turn it back on. after restarting the engine, the suv had acceleration, but this error and no acceleration keeps happening. i have been told this is an electronic throttle body issue that ford is aware of, but doesn't have a recall listed for this issue for my truck.
Apim not working in too many cars i seen internet
I have 2011 ford explorer, which i take into the local ford dealership for maintenance regularly. i have had me explorer a little over 2 years. ever since i purchased my explorer and i would take it in for maintenance, i would tell them i smell exhaust fumes on the inside of my vehicle. only once did they check it for me. at that time, they said the guy couldn't smell anything. well, today 8-24-17, i had to take it in for another issue. my explorer engine would completely shut off when i would decelerate. needless to say that was a serious issue while driving...they are repairing today. but, i also ask them to check for exhaust smells once again. well today, i guess someone smelled the exhaust because they told me they could fix it at a cost over $200.00. said it was an update for the exhaust module or something like that. i have an issue with paying that, since i know that there has been several complaints about this very issue with my model of ford explorer and that there is a class action lawsuit against ford to resolve this issue. the reason i know this is because when they initially said they didn't smell anything i googled to see if anyone else had this problem and they did. when i ask the dealership today why i would have to pay that, they said because my vehicle is not a police vehicle and there is no recall on my vehicle for the exhaust problem. so, i guess if my vehicle was a police vehicle, it would be repaired by ford for free. point blank, i would like my 2011 ford explorer repaired by ford at no cost to me for the exhaust problem.
One week after purchasing a pre-certified vehicle, the car didn't want to accelerate & go into gear. 4 months later having similar issues & felt like the car got rear ended while driving on 2 different occasions on the highway that same week. i was drawn bing in the garden state parkway in nj and had to slow down for traffic. also at the end of the week the car didn't want to accelerate & go into gear while driving out of the driveway.
When i drive with the windows closed for any length of time i have to open the windows and many times i pull over to take a breather. i mentioned to a friend today this problem and he told me he had seen the night before that this model vehicle had many complaints as carbon monoxide may be the problem. i had thought about that but dismissed it. it does not happen with my other vehicles. i am going to be very careful now but this is ridiculous. please make ford repair this major safety issue.
Car was fine then all of a sudden over heating sign went on in the car . i pulled over on the freeway called a tow truck because i was told not to drive the car. i had it towed to my house had a professional mechanic look at it at my house i was then told that there was a leak and the water tank was not holding water because of it. the next day i went to my car i turned it on and check engine light was on. i then turned off the car cause i did not want to cause anymore damage. the mechanic came back to my house and told me it was now leaking water and oil to take it in right away. i had no previous problems with my car until that point. i take it to the dealer they tell me that it was an internal problem within the engine that i, the driver, could not have known about unless i was having previous problems with the car which i was not. 230 dollars later just to tell me what is wrong with the car ford is telling me that water got into the engine, transmission, all of the fluids and pipes. how does this happen with no previous problems with the car? i believe this issue needs to be resolved i have read many reviews on this model and this issue needs to be recalled
The rear view camera system started showing a reverse image to what is actually behind us without warning (the video was showing mirrored/backwards view). this caused us to think someone who was actually on one side of the vehicle was in a safe place, while in reality they were in the path of the vehicle. the vehicle has large blind spots in the back sides making an accurate picture a must-have
Foul smell when driving and air conditioner on at times. happened many times over the last year. excessive sleepiness when driving and have to pull over.
2011 ford explorer exhaust leak everytime i go 60 or 70 mile perhour exhaust smell inside the car
Often when i accelerate quickly, and every time i accelerate when going up hill there is a horrific smell from the exhaust and it fills the inside of the car. this has been going on since i bought the car in the beginning of 2017, and still occurs to today (8/13/18).
Exhaust making me sick, bad smell like rotten eggs inside the car every time i turn on the a/c and my kids get sick of that smell
Car has nauseating smell when air conditioner/heater is on. air conditioner overhauled at my expense july 26, 2017. smell remains, although slightly better at times. smell is a cross between burned rope/urine-type smell. if driving all day, or long distances, i get a headache. please respond
Exhaust leak problem in my car while the air conditioning is on or when i accelerate. the car smells like gas constantly, even when it is parked and in my garage. i am terrified for my three children. we have taken it to ford twice already and they can't fix it and expect me to pay for the repairs. no way! we are all sick all of the time. i am terrified to even drive it.
Fumy odor when accellerate
My wife has a 2011 ford explorer. it was around christmas when we noticed that gifts in the back storage area were soaking wet. i removed the spare tire and in the spare tire holder was approximately 2 inches of water. i searched water leaks on the internet and was overwhelmed how many people had the same type of problem with there 2011 explorer. i took it to a dealer and filed a claim with our insurance. neither would cover the damage. they both said its faulty seam sealer and was our responsibility. this is so ridiculous. its a 5 year old vehicle.
Frequent strong exhaust smell in the cab, worse after driving for an extended periods of time at highways speeds then slowing down or stopping and sitting with the engine running
While driving and especially after, there is a burning hair smell that is in the car and when you step outside the car it is very strong in the engine. upon learning of the class action lawsuit too late, it helped make sense why i was smelling the "burnt hair" smell when i ran the heater and/or ac. this was anytime i drove the car whether highway driving or around town.
Within the past year we have smelled rotten eggs in the cab of our explorer on several occasions but assumed it was nothing. upon reading an article about an investigation into carbon monoxide seeping into the cab we are extremely nervous. we have two small children. this always happens when the behicle is driving.
There are allot of issues going on with the truck we have just hit around 70k miles, this started a few months ago the passenger back door is not latching correctly upon being closed. the whole electrical system has been faulty for some time now a/c doesn't work correctly/ remotes and lights on car on constantly flickering... happens while vehicle isnt in motion and when in motion
Exhaust fumes coming into the cabin while in motion. i noticed this issue when we bought the car in 2015. i complained to ford in december 2016 and was told that i have to pay to have the hoses rerouted so that the exhaust fumes don't come into the cabin. i called ford again today and once again they told me i had to pay to fix this issue. i drive with my windows cracked or opened due to my concern of the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning while driving the car by myself or with my children as passengers.
Today 09/09/2017 my friend called me as informed me that he saw yesterday 09/08/2017: on the news there was a law suit against 2011 ford explorer about carbon monoxide emission. the report stated that people were having headaches, were nauseous, etc.., which is exactly the symptoms i am having since roughly a year. on february 2017, i went to see a neurologist as my headaches and nausea were worse. i went through several medical tests and i am taking a prescription for the headaches. now i honestly and strongly believe that this problem might be the trigger of the symptoms since i never been sick like that before.
Exhaust/burning smell coming through hvac vents under hard acceleration. has been a constant problem since owning the vehicle.
The steering has never worked correctly, something just does not feel right with this vehicle. also - the sync system does not work correctly and the screen randomly reboots and is not working correctly. lastly the car system does not recognize when keys are in the car, so every time you go to start the car does not work. how this is unsafe - is in cold weather you have your keys in hand and the car will not start, which means you could be left in the cold and the car will not start. this is not safe.
Upon heavy acceleration such as when pulling onto a highway, or passing another vehicle on the road, an exhaust/fuel smell will enter the vehicle and be very noticeable to everyone in the vehicle. this occurs mostly when the air conditioner is on, on recirculation. my wife (primary driver of this 2011 ford explorer) complains of a lot of headaches and i am beginning to wonder if she is getting carbon monoxide poisoning from driving this vehicle daily. we are going to buy a co2 detector to see if this is in fact true.
Shortly after i bought my 2011 ford explorer, i noticed a carbon monoxide smell inside the vehicle and my daughter was always "tired" when this happened. i opened the windows. three different mechanics could not identify the problem. i have had a carbon monoxide detector in the car for years. i keep a comforter in the car for cold days when i need to keep the windows down. i'm glad his issue has been identified, especially for those parents who drive their child around until they fall asleep.
Always got tired when i drove the vehicle. i never felt completely alert when i drove it. i wouldn't take my grandchild anywhere with me in that vehicle because i didn't feel comfortable or safe driving in it with others. one day i got really light headed and the next thing i knew is i wrecked the vehicle into the side of an over pass wall at 35 mph. i no longer have the vehicle, but i never knew why it happened. did the vehicle have a cabin monoxide leak? when i had the accident i was so out of it that i thought a car was beside me or something. all i know is i never felt safe driving it with the way it made me feel...updated 12/13/17 *bf *tr
Last night i had done my first full throttle application ever. subsequently i received this strong smell, so strong that i could barely breathe in the cabin. it smelled as if the vehicle was on fire. i slowed way down to make sure there were no flames anywhere. come to find out through internet research, it was carbon monoxide, given the strength of it i'm presuming a significantly unsafe level.
Exhaust fumes enter the passenger compartment when the ac is running at highway speeds and at any speed when the engine is taxing ie going up a steep grade.
I want to state that my truck does the same thing as reported in this problem. the smells gets real bad in the cabin when entering highway or crossing vehicles nhtsa action number: pe16008 component(s): engine and engine cooling , structure
Regards from the first year i purchased i have entered the exhaust area of the cabin. from the first year, service, people who attended me in the ford dealer, told me i could not find a cause or that was part of the design of the unit. i got to take it to 2 different dealers whenever i'm driving and presented me having to climb down or up a hill, it is where the problem arises. i may happen in the express or normal roads. the one last visit for a recall, returned to discuss the problem and now tells me it costs me $ 600 for the repair memo i get how to work with the problem. i have trouble because they spent 36,000 miles. my comment is that from the first year've been reporting the problem and did not have any kind of solution. the smell is now very often and truly bothers to guide and must represent a health problem.
My explorer has had an exhaust smell in the passenger area. i have brought it to sears auto and ford dealer and both told me there was nothing wrong, yet i continue to smell the exhaust when i am driving on the highway and up hill, with my ac on. i am worried about this problem since i am now seeing that police and other explorers are having them same problem.
Exhaust fumes enter the cabin through the ventilation system, upon acceleration and on inclines.
