My vehicle caught on fire while driving on the highway, my mechanic indicated that the fuel system, gasoline was defective. there was a recall in june 13, 2006 for my vehicle, i was not notified of this defect by ford company. it is now that it was brought to my attention that this was an occurring problem with my vehicle. *tr

My 2000 ford explorer will not start on an incline. we've replaced the fuel pump and now the ford dealership tells me that the gas tank is corroded, the baffles are broken and the air intake valve is defective. this car is only 5 years old. i have had other cars for 10-15 years and have not had a corrosion problem within the fuel tank. i believe this is caused by a defective fuel tank...how can i pursue this matter. the dealer wants $1600 to fix the car.

1) driving the vehicle normally in everyday conditions. 2) the vehicle did not idle when the gas pedal was released, the engine died out losing all power, making it difficult to stop. 3) the idle air control valve and gasket was replaced, part # yu3z-9f715-aa, old part is available.*ak

Whenever vehicle was at a stop light or sign it idled and stalled. after stalling vehicle could be restarted immediately. also, fuel pump was not pumping fuel properly, and was replaced by the dealer. *ak

2000 ford explorer motor skips and races when started up.***no answer required***. *mr the vehicle ran rough and the gas mileage was poor. the vehicle was taken tot he dealer. the dealer cleaned the manifold but this did not rectify the problem. the vehicle was taken back to and independent mechanic who ran a diagnostic test. the test concluded that the fuel pressure regulator needed to be replaced and the manifold needed to be removed and cleaned. it appeared that the dealer never cleaned the manifold as they stated. *nm

Fuel pump on 2000 ford explorer needs replacing. truck has 60,772 miles.. *ak

While driving 45mph fuel connector wire on passenger's side disconnected and car shut off.*ak the engine would not stay running after start up at idle due to idle air control valve assembly failure. the valve was replaced. *yh

When parking vehicle on an incline, gas gauge will read incorrectly. once vehicle is moving again gas gauge keeps reading incorrectly. vehicle has been taken to dealer 4 times. dealer insists that this is how the gas gauge works.*ak. also the power train control module was replaced, the fuel injection system was replaced, consumer states if she fills the gas tank up, 150 miles later it will be a half tank, and then if she hits a bump in the road the needle will read full, the fuel tank sender, sending unit and instrument cluster have been replaced.*jb

Stopped car in traffic to make a left hand turn. vehicle would not go when gas pedal was pressed. felt like vehicle was in neutral. then after awhilte it lunged forward with great force. i was able to stop and avoided a collision. this time they replaced the transmission. previously they replaced the fuel pump.*ak

Consumer was traveling at 30mph and lost braking power. dealer inspected vehicle & found a brake line problem. dealer didn't have parts & they have to come off assembly line to fix it. *ak

While turning onto a side road at night, consumer encountered another vehicle that was blocking the road with no lights on. the other driver was helping someone on the side of the road. consumer tried to swerve and ran into the other driver's left side of the car. consumer immediately smelled a funny smell. got out of the car, and about minute later noticed a trickle of fire under the hood. two minutes later, the whole car was in flames. air bags did not deploy at impact. *ak *ml
