2014 ford escape recall on the transmission : i recently purchased this car in september 30, 2017 i had the car less than 6 months and the transmission was shifting in and out of gears by itself. i took the vehicle back to the dealership that i had just purchased the vehicle from which is ivory chevrolet. and i informed the car salesman by the name of ronnie who sold me the vehicle , that the vehicles transmission was slipping. ronnie then told me that there was nothing that he could do , because the warranty was expired . so i asked him what can be done he then stated that i may have to just drive it until the transmission goes out , which didn't make any sense to me . on may 22, 2018 i was on my way to work when the transmission slipped out of gear which stopped in the middle of the street , this was one week after i took the vehicle back to the dealership ivory chevrolet. when the transmission slippped out of gear there was smoke coming from under the hood , and the car would not go into drive or reverse. so i had to leave the car in the middle of the street which had a lot of on going traffic . i had to leave the car in the and i had to call my insurance company state farm for road side assistance , to tow the vehicle to residence . i then had to replace the transmission using money that i did not have . on june 1 , 2018 , i put the vehicle in a transmission shop i had to pay 1300 for the parts and the labor (woody's transmission shop) . once i got the vehicle out of the transmission shop the transmission is jerking and seems like there is still a problem with it after getting a new transmission replaced and it's been almost 3 weeks since i have had the vehicle back and now the check engine light is on , and the transmission is jerking very hard . i seen on fox5 this morning that there has been a recall on the vehicle. saying that one reason why the vehicle had a
Tl* the contact owned a 2014 ford escape. while driving 20-25 mph, a vehicle cut in front of the contact's vehicle. as a result, the contact crashed into the front quarter panel of the other vehicle. the seat belt failed to retract and the driver's side door air bag failed to deploy. the contact sustained injuries to the shoulder and hand, which required medical attention. the passenger was not injured. the vehicle was towed to an independent lot and deemed destroyed by the insurance company. a police report was filed. the local dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. the failure mileage was 99,000. *bf consumer also stated driver side airbag and seat belt failed. consumer 's right side hit against seat belt buckle, causing her to severly bruise with injury. The vehicle's gear shift cable "breaks" leaving the vehicle inoperable unable to go into gear, drive or reverse. the vehicle drive ok then parked. the vehicle was parked in a public garage when i noticed that the vehicle would not go into gear.
Roof leak with no external damage causing it
I got into the truck and crank it up as i was leaving work one afternoon and when i turned the radio on the display screen for the rear back up camera and radio went out.. its was flashing white and black and then black with a white line thru it after it kelly flashing turning red green orange with lime just running thru the screen.then about 10 minutes tops it was gone out.. it only takes me 12 minutes to get home from work and it didn't last that long so took it back to my dealership and they don't know what wrong with it. but i have no radio and no camera. i continued to drive around not knowing what was wrong with the truck and one night it make a spark as i was sitting with it running at a fast food drive thru. the smoke was coming from the front vents so it parked it and called the tow truck. quick towed it back to the dealer who still couldn't figure out a problem they just disconnected the wiring completely so i'm worse off as far as it goes to figure out the problem . i don't see any fixes for these issues but i've seen lots of the same complaints please help
I was driving on a flat road, traveling 35 mph and my check engine light came on and the car died. i had it towed to the dealership and they said the "wire repair harness 3526 cpd" had came loose. i had not ran over anything at all and the vehicle is in great shape, always maintenanced by dealer, 38,569 miles. i was told my vin was not covered by recall but online i found recalls for 2014 for escape for the wiring harness. i paid for the repair but i believe this should not occur on a 2014 vehicle and should have been covered by a recall.
Brake vacuum pump locked up while driving causing loss of brakes. i was going 70 on interstate at the time had to use both feet to get the car to slow down. lucky there was no traffic on the exit because i was unable to stop running the stop light.
After the recall with the air condition i still has some problem and now my car is making a very strange noice in front when i drive more the 40 sometimes i'm not getting cold hair
When it rains hard i have a leak behind the passenger seat that comes from the light fixture - i have seen so many complaints about this from 2012 escapes thru 2017 escapes - their seems to be no fix - my biggest concern is the headliner (which everyone says not to touch) and the smell ford suggested i contact you - i would assume this happens when the car is stationary and it does not happen when car is run through car wash. *dt the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense and now has started to leak again. *tr
Gas filling problem: when filling gas tank with gas, the gas shuts off repeatedly. this happens at "every" gas station i go to. it takes 15 minutes to fill a 12 gallon tank. infuriating. this has been an ongoing problem since 2017 thru 2018 and getting worse. statement below "when did this happen" is wrong because it happens each time i go to the gas station. you should remove the required question below on this form.
Car caught fire and was totally destroyed. not getting any assistance from ford as to the cause. i see there is a recall for 2014 escapes with the risk of fire in the engine compartment due to an issue with the engine block over heating. what can i do to get some answers and restitution for my loss? this happened while driving home from work on the side of the highway.
Takata recall i had a wreck. i was in motion, making a u turn through a median with trees blocking my full view of oncoming traffic. i was hit pretty hard on the passenger's front bumper & neither air bag deployed at all
I have a 2014 ford escape se eco-boost, when i start the car, the engine light comes on and stays on. it comes on as soon as i start the car, while driving and sitting still. i have taken it in for service, there is no given explanation for the light to be on. however, i had the 50,000 mile check point on saturday, december 15, 2017 and the engine light is still on. when i first purchased the car, the dashboard went completely out, i had that repaired. now the engine light is on and stays on. is this a sign of the engine going out, i am paying for an extended warranty for repairs. please help.
My vehicle was overheated for about 3 times and i have reported it to the ford dealership here in american samoa. i also received a recall notice about this vehicle (safety recall notice 17s09). up to now, the ford dealership have not fix this recall issue and i and my family are always at higher dangerous risk due to this unresolved recall. i have paid hundreds of dollars to the dealership for fixing the problem via other replacement parts and still nothing directly to the recall part. the recall part is the engine coolant.
I've been having issues with my car stalling out. it began on 11/10/17 when i started the car. i drove about 500 feet pulling up to a stop sign and the car stalled out but all electrical stayed on (i.e. radio). i turned the car back on and it drove fine for a while. the same thing happened again later on the same day. the following day it happened in the same way as i was pulling out of a parking lot. i turned it back on and it drove well for a while. later that evening it happened again also pulling out of a parking lot. i did not drive the car again till the following morning. the car drove well for 2 days. until today 11/15/17. it turned on in the morning. i got to my destination. parked the car. came back about a half hour later and i was pulling out of the parking lot only driving about 500 feet when the car stalled out again. i turned the car back on it drove to my next destination about 40 minutes away. it did not feel as if it was running as smoothly as usual. i'm afraid to drive my car as i live in a city and take highways everywhere. i would hate for my car to stall out in the middle of the highway and cause myself and others to get immensely hurt.
On november 6, 2017, i entered my vehicle after shopping for groceries at a nearby market and after loading the car and securing my safety belt; i placed the car into reverse. however, when i pressed on the gas my car lurched forward, causing me to almost crash into the car parked in front of me, i then hit the brake and placed the vehicle into park. upon shifting back into park the car would no longer shift into any other gear leaving me stranded.
My daughter was driving the car on a 2 lane highway, going straight, at highway speed ( my daughter gotten about 3 miles from home ) and engine fault light came on, car sputtered, service now light came on and immediately smoke started to come into the car. she pulled over immediately and ran from car and called 911 the car caught on fire under hood. the fire was very large and totaled car. time from engine fault light to fire was approximately 30 seconds to 45 seconds. that part is an estimate. notified ford motor corp and they gave me a claim number. currently insurance company has the car but will probably make a claim to ford. it was in a couple of weeks before because it had the same kind of sputter. they also worked on 4 recalls at this time. when talking to fmc, the lady stated that for some reason one recall is still open although it showed that the dealership had done it. she wasn't sure why they didn't close it.
I first failed a state inspection (9/14/17) due to a small evap leak. i first went to a local business to get that and at the same time, the vehicle would cut off as i was driving. the local business claimed to have fixed the evap leak (after waiting a week for the part (10/13/17), but had no idea about the vehicle stalling. i then took the vehicle to a ford dealership (10/19/17), where it was first taken in for a week only to have the same repair done with ford telling me the first repair used a faulty part. driving home (10/24/17), the vehicle did not stall, but still showed driving issues. the vehicle then stalled while in park idle. i returned to the ford dealer (10/27/17) and for another week, repairs were made or looked up by a help line indicating that even ford wasn't sure of the problem. i got the vehicle back again another week later (11/6/17) and the next morning the check engine light has come back on. the vehicle has not stalled, but it has not run the same since september. i do not have full confidence in the vehicle, but can't afford to keep playing guess what's wrong with ford.
10/7/17 approx 6:30 pm while entering on ramp onto frway at approx 35 mph, driving dist of less than 1/2 to 3/4 mile from last parked stop, indicator dash memo of "engine temp high pull over safely", no indication on engine temperature gauge as it registered below mid mark. pullled over on frway into closed lanes, turned off engine. turned on again to advance 10 ft out of way of onramp vehicles, temp gauge indicated "h", turned off engine. called for tow, tech could not start eng, battery dead. towed home (less than 2-4 miles), engine off with ticking sound that could be heard across grill. today, 10/8/17 this am checked coolant and empty. no indication of eng running "hot" or no fluid low indicator light/warning. there was never any warning lights, etc time driving from 9/27/17 thru 10/7/17.. *on 9/27/17 i had routine oil change, fluids checks w/receipt of dealer performing all work and checks prior to a trip of approx 346 mi ea way, traveled approx 20 additional mi from 10/3/17-10/7/17 and there was no indication overhting of engine and i had to expect coolant was full, not low as it was serviced approx 9 days prior. *on 9/27/17 i also specifically asked service rep and tech if fluids were checked both stated yes, okay, also indicated on service receipt.they perform a complete check of fluids, hoses, etc. to know if ford escapes, 2014 or others, have had complaints regarding overheating w/o warnings and/or if there is a possibility of this ford engine having a record of these problems and complaints w/dealer who does all routine maint on my vehicle and any complaints r/t bell ford, phx serdept regarding same issue? read fordescape.org there has been a recall for engines catch fire due to overhting/coolant, #17s09 is it valid? i will be arranging towing from my home to dealership my vehicle&performed last maint&oil change on 9 /27/17: bell ford, phxaz 85023
Started car and drove to work everything was working normal. got in car to return home from work on the same day. started vehicle and my ford touch screen went black with no warning. radio stopped working and any sound from bluetooth phone connection not working.screen is completely black and occasionally "sync" in white letters will appear, but nothing else.
On february 2017 i brought a 2014 ford escape at about 59 k miles and now it has about 70k miles on it. i was totally clueless as to how unsafe this car was and all of the numerous complaints/issues that consumers are having with this car. on 09/22/2017, this car totally broke down. this car is a safety hazard as i almost got into an accident as the car without made a loud noise, and without any warning just stopped/shut down in traffic. none of the safety indicator alerts worked in this car so i was clueless that the card had any issues. i only owned this car for about 6 months at the time and it was clearly out of warranty. i had the car towed only to find out that it is the transmission, bad battery, abs issues and possibly an alternator. i was also advised that it was an electrical issues and possible a recall that is why no warnings lights came on to let me know it was a problem. i reached out to ford who basically said sorry we don't care have a nice day. this car is not safe and should be taken off of the market until ford can get this in order. i really hope someone look into this matter before someone lose their life.
my 2014 ford escape has been recalled for the engine over heating. i have had to get it towed twice now because it continues to over heat due to a lack of coolant (it disappears for some reason and no one know where it goes). i then have to get a rental car for the week or however long it takes them to fix it. ford does not have a plan to fix the issue instead they will install a sensor to help monitor the coolant level and warn me before the car overheats. this just transfer the burden onto me to continuously add coolant to a new car that shouldn't need it had it been made correctly. at this point i don't even want the car anymore because it is unsafe and a huge inconvenience. this happens while i am driving and it warns me to immediately pull over.
Mouse killed in between ac/heat fan blower & cabin air filter ! 2nd time this has happen. 1st.time got fix under warrantee.now my warrantee is up (39000 miles) car was moving 500ft. from home. turned ac on ,bang! bang! turn it off/ i knew what happen. the 1st. time they had to replace fan blower / it vibrates louder than our motor ,nowits doing it again.i got the back half of mouse vaccum out from the cabin compartment. my ? how are they getting in there. i'll show you what i found an explain. in the engine compartment ford didn't put a screen over blower entrance,.so i put one, i run my fan on low.
I have the titanium ford escape and my sunroof is leaking all over. i just financed the car 2 months ago and have taken it to two different places and they cannot find the issue. it leaks so much that that water drips on me when it rains. i have seen many complaints and even some that have recalls but when i called ford today they stated that my particular model does not have a recall. when i googled it many people have also had the same issue and edmunds.com states that over 2,000 cars do have a recall for it. the seal on the sunroof is not the issue because it has been checked. i do not understand why only some of the models have recalls and some do not if we are all having the same issue.
Instrument panel flickers and goes black. we are told this is the software update which is part of a recall. however, the recall does not cover this date of manufacture.
The vehicle was in motion being driven when heavy rain began. the wipers would not turn on in any level, manual or otherwise. this created an extreamly dangerous situation with little to no visibility. the dealer did not disclose the problems with the 2014 ford escape bcm but indicated was the cause. they however did not replace it, but did charge $450 for diagnosis only. no actual repair was made. this vehicle should be under recall. it is again affecting the wiper control intermittently.
When driving my 2014 ford escape the vehicle will hesitate and has stalled. this happens when going from a stop and transitioning from 1st and 2nd gear. it sounds very similar to recall number 14v495000 but my vehicle was not covered. these hesitations have caused other drivers on the road to have to slam on their breaks and the vehicle stalled once while making a left hand turn almost resulting in a collision. thankfully the other driver slammed on their breaks avoiding an accident. this happens every rime we drive this vehicle and when ford was asked abkut it they could care less. we have been told by ford it is not their problem.
I purchased this vehicle new and noticed the bad smell/fumes 5 months later during a road trip. i thought the smell was due to new vehicle. i only notice the smell during hard acceleration, especially when passing on and entering major highways, a strong smell comes through the vents and under the steering column. the smell is like burnt plastic or rubber. it gives me a headache at times. i've taken it to the dealer on several occasions; first it was thought to be the cabin filter needed changing after 10 months of buying the suv new, then it was thought to be clogged air vents which was false, then it was the air freshener that caused it to smell which i removed, and recently i took it to the dealer twice and they had no idea where the smell was coming from, even though the service adviser and mechanic witness the smell/fume. i checked several web sites and discovered other owners of 2014 ford escape are experiencing the same problem. i drive with the window cracked because i'm concerned about my health and my family. this is a very serious issue.
Was driving home from work on the interstate. engine began to jerk a bit then warning messages appeared on screen. pulled over to side of road. after car stopped smoke began to appear from under hood and entering cab through the vents. i opened the window to clear the smoke and looked for phone number to roadside assistance thinking it was only a belt that had melted or burned. within a few minutes i began to see flames coming from under the hood by the windshield. i exited the vehicle and a sheriff's deputy happened to be pulling in behind me after seeing my car in distress. fire department was called. within five to ten minutes the engine area of the vehicle was engulfed in flames. after a short investigation on the scene the fd believed the cause to be electrical and appeared to have begun and caused the most damage to the passenger side front corner of the engine.
Ford recall 17s09 was issued over a year ago. 15 months later, ford has given me the runaround about fixing the problem. i have been in contact with them for about 6 months, have actually gotten appointments at my local dealership and they have disregarded my problem and will not respond to my needs. i have also contacted ford manfuacturing. on recorded calls they have failed to either help me with my problem or had a supervisor contacted me as requested. help?
Driving down the road (4 lane highway) and my vehicle jolted all the sensors lit up including a blue one so i pulled off to the side of the road and turned vehicle off then saw flames and exited vehicle.
When running heater can smell engine vapors, bad enough to give instant headache when in motion and when sitting still happens often
The back windshield shattered with no warning or apparent cause. the force behind the break was such that it caused the side frames to fall more than 3 feet from either side of the vehicle. my vehicle was parked in my driveway overnight. the weather was temperate. it does not appear to have had any outside cause; the glass is all on the outside of the car.
The throttle body went out on my car. it was a part recalled on over a million ford models except my 2014. i believe it should have been added to the original recall list. the car stopped in the middle of rush hour traffic on the expressway. i could have been killed. i was on highway 74 in the middle of morning traffic with trucks on either side of me. i was simply terrified and almost didn't make it over to the side when my check engine light came on, my car stopped running, and i barely coasted over. after 3 hours of waiting for a tow to the closest dealership, the dealer determined it was the throttle body that needed replace. now i have tow costs, rental car costs, and more because of a $60 part that was recalled on the prior year vehicles, yet still failing on the current vehicles as well.
A door latch with a fractured pawl spring tab typically results in a "door will not close" condition. a door that opens while driving increases the risk of injury. as of 9/2/16, ford's investigation into this concern has identified a total of one alleged accident and three alleged injuries that ford believes may be related. one alleged injury was to an occupant's arm from a door that reportedly opened and bounced back. another injury involved a driver who alleged her hand was injured when trying to grab a door that opened. the third injury was to an occupant who allegedly received scratches from a rear door that opened while driving. ford has no further information relating to these reports. the alleged accident occurred after the driver's door reportedly opened in a parking lot and resulted in bumper damage, but ford has no additional information. *tr
Right rear passenger door suddenly flew open while driving. indicator light did come on. door would not latch when closed and had to be tied to opposite door to hold closed. took car to dealer, service writer claimed to see no problem advised my husband to take home and "play" with it. that was not acceptable. i returned to dealer july 21, 2016 and spoke to service writer a second time after finding many complaints on failing door latches and politely advised that ford was aware of this as an ongoing problem and that i wanted ford to investigate and make repairs. the rep said they were too busy that day but did schedule an appointment for me to bring the car back stating that the prior issues were not with the ford escape and repair cost would depend if my car remained under warranty. i said we could discuss that further after ford identified the cause of the problem and repaired it and also checked the latches on the other doors to be certain i would not be in danger of other door latch failures. the dealer also asked if we "messed with" the latch mechanism. i told them, no, despite the fact we were first told to go home and play with it. since it's clear ford is aware of these problems, it is disappointing that they don't just say so the first time you take the car in and then even the second time just say, yes we are aware and we will be happy to take care of the problem for you. it is clearly a design defect or a bad part. it is also a very dangerous situation to have a door fly open.
We parked our car and the door closed and we locked it with the remote as usual and when we came back we opened the door and it worked fine opening it when we closed the door however the door would not latch at all there was nothing jamming the door or anything it just malfunctioned we had to hold it closed with our hands and we immediatly took it to the dealership the whole way driving it there we got alerts from my key the door was opened where we had bought it from they said they didnt know what was wrong and it took almost a week to fix we had to get a rental . i think this is happening just like the ford explorers a latch problem we eventually got it fixed and traded it in for a 2016 ford explorer hopefully this one dose not malfunction like the escape i love ford and always will its just mabey they need to take a break and really catch up on whats really important : performance for a while they are probably stressed right now with all the new models and bringing in the focus rs to the us and now bringing back the ranger and remodeling the licoln navigator and the expedition so its okay but they need to catch a break and catch up with performance for a while.
I have an id# 10971972 that i got when i called nhtsa back in april, also filled out a form & returned to washington office in june that was mailed to me back in may - too much to explain here, i will attach a word doc with detailed issue info
Roof leaks on both sides of vehicle cause water stained/wet headliner above windshield pillers. took to dealer, they claimed they resealed roof rack, and cleaned headliner. not even 2 weeks later paasenger side headliner is wet again. contacted dealer and ford it is worse this time than it was the first time. apparently my escape isn't the only one with this issue after visiting several forum's. when vehicle is in motion i can hear water dripping if its is raining or if there is a heavy dew.
The car is bucking and almost stalling when i accelerate. i've taken it to two different dealers and they can't find anything. one dealer told me that this was normal, even though i found similar complaints online.
The seals on the air conditioner evaporator drain box have failed twice in 3 months. this condition allows water that should drain overboard through the evaporator drain box drain hose to leak out of the evaporator box onto the floor carpet on each side of the car. the water saturates the carpet under the drivers and passengers feet. the water creates a potentially dangerous condition of the drivers feet being able to slip off the brake or gas pedal from being continuously wet while operating the car. ford repaired the car under warranty 3 months ago. the seals failed again and saturated the carpet on the drivers side with water that leaked out of the evaporator box. ford's service manager stated "the factory ford repair kit for this condition is not working". he also stated "this seal failure is affecting 33% of the escapes on the road and other makes that use the same seals and ford is aware of the high rate of seal failures". ford told us to keep driving the car because the service department is backed up with these repairs. why isn't there a recall on these affected vehicles? how many people have to die before ford issues a recall on the affected vehicles?
Whenever car is on and parked, not moving, or going slower than 20 mph, the air conditioning does not cool and blows extremely hot air into the car. if i am in traffic, at a stop light, getting drive through, or parking the car, it quickly gets dangerously hot. right now we have 100+ degree days consistently, with my child in the back seat i fear driving my vehicle in this heat as it is known to kill in texas. my father is an electrician and when i told him he said it looks like an electrical or power problem because he thinks the car idles too low.
While traveling on i-76, i came upon a truck-tire tread in the middle of my lane. there were vehicles on both sides of me so i could not swerve to avoid it, i ran over it and it damaged the engine shield on the underside of my car ($300), a friend recently had a similar incident in which a truck ahead and on his right threw a tread which struck the front of the care ($1300). while on a recent extended trip, i came upon 50-75 discarded treads on the interstates. the purpose of my making this report is to suggest that consideration be given to banning retreads on over-the-road trucks. they appear to be unreliable and could cause serious accidents at these speeds if they haven't already.
**this incident involves the panoramic roof glass/window spontaneously bursting at highway speeds.** my family and i were driving at highway speeds when suddenly we heard a very loud explosion. it startled my husband, he almost lost control of the vehicle because the vehicle swerved as a result of having the roof torn open at highway speeds. this incident could cause a severe, life-threatening injury. we pulled over to the side of the road. we saw that the glass had burst almost completely, leaving only approximately 1.5" margins of shattered glass around the edges. the rubber bond that seals the glass on all four sides to the roof of the vehicle bent to the point where it was flailing about on the highway. the shattered pieces of glass chipped/scratched/damaged the roof rack, rear panoramic roof glass (the panoramic roof on the this escape is comprised of two glasses, one in the front that slides opened and closed, and the rear one that remains stationary) and the roof of the vehicle. absolutely nothing impacted the vehicle to cause this damage. this incident is not a result of misuse or abuse. it is absolutely a defective component that ford motor company has not been responsible for. whilst on the side of the road, we contacted our ford dealership. they told us to send pictures. we did and they sent them to ford corporate for approval. they answered that since they can't see the defective component in the pictures, they can assume something impacted the glass and therefore the incident does not qualify for warranty service. i was quoted that the repairs could cost approximately $1500usd. i have documentation and pictures of the incident that i would be more than happy to share if deemed helpful to make my case. this is an issue that has affected many escape owners. there was even a recall in 2014 regarding issues with the panel of the panoramic roof.
I attempted to close the rear lift gate door by the handle, and it acted as if there were no screws holding it to the door. i had to grasp and pull down on the door to close it then and since then in all cases. poor manufacture.
Constant loss of coolant from new. have to top up every day after approx 50 miles. dealer says no recall although previous years have had this problem.
The vehicle stalled with no warning, would not restart. have had for 6 weeks. has been at dealership and they cannot identify problem. 5 sensors are not communicating from the engine. they have changed computer it restarted and died again. ford insists they are going to fix it and are going to force me to take it back. *js
While driving my vehicle it's approach sensor went off. i thought it was due to being in traffic but then it went off on a constant high pitch squeal. it lasted for about 3 minutes then shut off. then when i was on the hands free telephone device through the ford consal it went off again and i could not stop the very high pitch squeal and i had to pull off the road and put it in park. then it happened while sitting at a stop sign. the squeal was so loud i wanted to take the vehicle to ford and ask for a refund. i could not stop the sound and it sounded like my speakers were on high but i couldn't lower the volume. this was a new vehicle and just drove it off the lot about a month or less. it hasn't happened since. *js
The instrument cluster multi-function display (mfd) went blank. exactly as described in ford recall 15c03. this is a safety problem. the car was manufactured in their lucasville oh plant during the dates mentioned in their recall, however, my vin was not included in the recall. since this is the exact same problem listed i suspect they may not have been correct. ford is not responsive except to say my car is not included in the recall.
