Was driving family back to out cabin in pigeon fodge tn, all of sudden in three lanes of traffic our suv made a sudden surge and lost forward motion speed dropped and it would not go above 1 grand on tachometer. it would crawl but barley. traffic behind me started blowing their horns. i hit the emergency lights. and started to getus off the parkway. we made it. the yellow wrench appeared on the dash and the suv idled very ruff. i turned it off. waited looked under the dash. got the family out because it was hot outside. then did not learn anything from hood up. started the suv back up and it ran. got the family back in the suv and went back to cabin. thanks that is all i know. we have to go back home in morning so i hope i can make it 3 hour trip. *tr

I was driving approximately 40 mph and went to accelerate, but when i hit the gas the car stalled and i had to pull to the side of the road and restart the car. the vehicle did this 4 times in the next three days. sometimes it would happen at higher speed and sometimes it would happen when i was just getting going. it turns out that i had a defective throttle body which is apparently a common problem in ford escapes. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. while driving 58 mph, the vehicle would not increase speed despite the contact depressing the accelerator pedal. the vehicle was merged to the shoulder and the engine was restarted. the vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer as having throttle assembly failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 36,600. the vin was not available. updated 9/19/13 *cn the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. updated 09/24/13

While driving on the washington, dc beltway (i-95) in prince george's county, md, the car lost acceleration completely. there was no response at all to pressing the accelerator. i coasted to the left shoulder, left the car running in park, and called ford customer service who called a tow truck, and we took the car to jerry's ford in alexandria, va. i researched the "throttle body" online, which jerry's ford said today was the affected part. i see that there are many recall issues with the part sticking open or closed or causing decreased acceleration capabilities. jerry's told me the part is not included in the engine/powertrain 60,000-mile warranty. my car has only 44,275 miles. i was told the repair will be over $650. i think it should be under warranty as there have been thousands of complaints and it is a major safety issue to completely lose acceleration on fast-flowing highway. also, i tried typing "throttle body" in the parts list and it didn't come up. if someone knows the exact part affected, it should come up on the list. or else you should include some guidance on what major systems to list, otherwise this electronic form cannot be submitted. *tr

I was driving my vehicle on the highway at around 65mph when the vehicle suddenly lost all power and the gas pedal became useless. i was forced to pull over and turn off the car. after restarting the car appeared to go back to normal, but the same thing happened several times over the next few days. when i finally got an appointment with ford to have it fixed they charged me $623 to replace the throttle body because my vehicle is no longer under warranty. i told them i had never heard of a throttle body needing to be replaced on a vehicle with less than 50,000 miles without having some type of manufactures defect. the ford service tech didn't seem to care. *tr

While driving to work, the engine suddenly lost power. stepping on the gas produced no effect. driving slowly to the side of the road i restarted the engine, and proceeded to work. this was a daily occurrence both going to work in the morning, and returning in the evening. took the car to a mechanic and was told that it was the throttle body. *tr

I was driving down the freeway when suddenly, my engine lost power. a wrench light came on, and my throttle was completely unresponsive. fortunately, i was in the right lane, so i was able to coast safely off the freeway and onto the side of the road. i shut my car off, waited a minute or two, and then restarted my car. everything seemed fine after that. this happened again, now totaling 6 times, all while i was driving. went to the mechanic, he called the dealership. he was told that this was a very common problem and that he could put a rush order on it for an additional 15% of the price, and it would still take 2 weeks. through normal channels, it would wake several months. i need my car to work, and two things bother me the most: a rush order would still take 2 weeks to be delivered, and if it's a common problem, it feels as though ford is doing nothing to alleviate it, especially since it impairs my ability to drive safely on the road. i am constantly paranoid while driving on the road, and i have no other choice but to continue to drive my car, since it's my only means of transportation. *tr

On 8/3/13 i was driving at 45 mph when suddenly the engine started shaking and i lost acceleration regardless of the position of the gas pedal. upon taking it to the dealership they identified the problem as a faulty electronic throttle body. this is a major safety concern as you lose speed control without warning. *tr

Driving down street, engine shut off. this would sporadically happen at different speeds and in different parts of town. error code p2112. engine would either shut off completely or would idle low and rough and not move, when accelerator was depressed, no increase in rpm. *tr

Was driving at 60 mph in the fast lane on the freeway, engine lost power for no reason. had no shoulder to pull onto, had to shut ignition off in the middle of the road with fast approaching cars passing me and coming up behind me. restarted car and it started running fine again. had this one time before this but not in the middle of rush hour traffic. after someone is hurt then they will have a recall for this faulty throttle body! *tr

Driving around 60mph and car started to shake as i tried to accelerated to pull over i could not get the car to accelerate. i coasted to the side of the rode and put on my hazzard lights. i turned the car off for a few minutes and placed a call to my son to come get me. i started it again and tried to go and it started to accelerate again and then called hub city ford where i purchased the car. they said they had several people call with the problem but there was no recall as of yet and it runs around $765.00 to repair. i asked about warranty and they said this particular part was 3 year or 30,000 miles. i exceeded the mileage. *tr

After being at a stoplight, i was accelerating around a corner about 25 mph and the car suddenly lost power and would no longer accelerate. the engine light came on. i had to coast to the side of the road and put my hazards on. i was quickly able to restart the car and drive home, although the same thing happened twice the very next day while accelerating after being at a stoplight. *tr

As i am driving the vehicle i loose all power and acceleration without warning of any kind. diagnostic code reads a p 2111 (throttle control system stuck open) this has happened several times and i have been in heavy traffic what it has. luck i wasn't killed by a semi. as i said it looses power and acceleration and stalls out i have looked around online and there are several complaints out there but no recall for it. why is this? if there are so many of these vehicles having identical problems that the part to that needs to be replaced is on back order nation wide then there is a manufacturing defect not a part failure do to use. what is up with this. *tr

I was driving from san diego to orange county on interstate 5, which is always a very busy highway around 50 mph when the car did a slight hesitation and then a quick surge and then lost power. it did not die but was only moving at 4 mph and the gas pedal did not have any power, no response at all. i was in lane 4 of a 5 lane highway and finally was able to get to the left and pull off in the center of the interstate. i turned off the ignition and set there for a few minutes trying to gain my composure. the car started right up and seemed to be okay. i took the car to the ford dealer the next morning and they said it was a throttle body problem but would take 8 days to get the part and it is not covered by the warranty. the throttle body unit usually does not have to be replaced until 100,000 miles. i have 34,000 miles and maintain my car as recommended by the ford motor company at my ford dealership. i believe the unit must be defective and should be recalled before someone is seriously injured or killed. it was extremely scary not knowing if at any minute another vehicle would run into the back of my car going 4 mph on a busy interstate! *tr

At 35 mph engine rpm decreased to idle and i had to stop and turn off engine and restart. this then again happened at a higher speed the engine rpm decreasing to idle. i was able to pull to the side of road to restart engine. on a busy road this could cause an accident. *tr

Vehicle would stutter and then stall on multiple occasions. happened once on the first day, twice on the second, and 5 times (including 3 on the way to the dealership) on the third day. this is extremely unsafe, as you are never sure when it is going to happen. i was told that i have a "bad throttle body." *tr

Had my 2010 ford escape fixed due to a throttle body issue. the car would suddenly loose power and almost stall. this happened at all speeds. technician was very familiar with it and said it was a common issue but ford was not doing a recall. this very unsafe as it would happen on the highway at all speeds. *tr

After sitting a stop light, when gas pedal was pushed to go there was no power. engine was running but car would not move. check engine light also went on. mechanic diagnosed a throttle body malfunction and has replaced the part. the car is a one-owner, 3-year old ford escape. *tr

I was driving along i30 and gas pedal stopped working. i had to cross over 2 lanes of traffic to get out of the way. my car was idling roughly and gas pedal still did not make my car go. i turned car off. my car would start but when it got past 30 mph, the gas pedal stopped working again. i called my husband and he brought our truck and trailer, and we hauled it home. *tr

When coming to a stop and then trying to accelerate from and idle position the vehicle will loose power. by this i mean the vehicle stays on, lights on dash remain on, motor is still running, but the accelerator pedal has no effect on the vehicle. the vehicle has shutter to it. pressing the gas pedal has no effect no matter how much you try or how much time passes. you have to coast to the side of the road, turn off the vehicle, and restart the vehicle to get the gas pedal working again. this is a very very dangerous flaw in the vehicle as this has happened to me three times in busy los angeles intersections. i fear it will cause an accident. the ford dealer wants to charge me $800 to replace the throttle body which has hundreds of thousands of complaints online about this exact issue. they refused to acknowledge this recurring and very prominent flaw in their vehicle and say even the extended warranty i purchased for $2,200 will not cover this particular part. this is very frustrating. hopefully you guys can bring some justice to the hundreds of thousands of people dealing with this exact issue. thank you for your time. *tr

Wrench light lit up on the dash, car decelerated and stopped in the roadway and traffic. engine was still running, but no response from the gas pedal. turned the car off for 10 minutes. started again and drove it home. could have been a dangerous situation on a more crowded roadway. based on internet research, a recall on the throttle body should be issued. *tr

We were traveling at 55 mph on the highway when my ford escape suddenly stalled and would no longer respond when i pressed the accelerator. my suv slowed to a stop where i cut it off. unfortunately, i did not have enough speed to pull off to a safe location and was stuck in the middle of the very busy highway where i was almost sideswiped by a tractor trailer truck. it was a very scary situation to say the least. this has since happened 3 more times, the most recent being yesterday august 23 on an interstate overpass in rush hour traffic. again i did not have enough speed to pull off to a safe location and was stuck in the center lane of the overpass. i was able to restart my car soon after stalling out and was able to an auto store that pulled the code of p2112, which is the throttle body code. of course my warranty ran out in june 2013 and ford estimates the repair to cost $500 minimum. and sadly, i am now afraid to drive my escape as i fear it will get me into an accident. i ask that ford take responsibility for the obvious flaw in throttle body and make the recall! *tr

While driving at highway speed, car stopped. i shut off engine waited and restarted. drove 35 miles this way in rushhour traffic. went autozone (as ford was closed for day) and had code pulled. it said electronic throttle body. cannot get part from parts store, will try to get part from dealer. a friend of mine who use to work for ford said that there have been 750,000 replaced throttle components for this model year. this left me in a very unsafe situation. *tr

Driving on interstate at 55 mph when vehicle lost all acceleration. gas pedal was ineffective. had to coast off road, shut vehicle down, restart it and was able to accelerate. at garage was told cost of part (expensive) but part was on back order and that the vehicle was not safe to drive until it was repaired since stalling or failure to accelerate could happen again at any time, and the vehicle might not "recover". *tr

Taking a turn off the main road when the car started shaking, lunging and had no throttle control, limited to about 10 mph. a dangerous situation on a curvy road, with no break down lane. the error code returned was p2112, the throttle body needed to be replaced. nothing visually appeared wrong with the old part. *tr

Driving on major highway at 60 mph the engine shut off and we coasted to the grassy part of the shoulder. shut car off, waited 5 mins. restarted the car. than it happened several times after that. took it to dealer and had the throttle body replaced. thank god were able to pull of on the shoulder each time. looking on the internet, this has happened many times to several other owners. *tr

The throttle body went bad on my 2010 ford escape limited v6 3.0l engine. my car is 41 days out of warranty and the for dealer charge me close to 500. dollars to replace the throttle body. i kept the old throttle body for evidence. there should be some type of regulation on this item. because i almost got killed by this defect. ford manager contacted me,her name is [xxx]. she told me to keep my receipt because they were having problems with the throttle body's vendor. that this may come to a recall.. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6), *tr

I was leaving for work and my vehicle seemed to hesitate and then lost all function to the gas pedal. after shutting the vehicle off, i turned it back on and it appeared to work fine. i brought it to the dealer and they told me it was the throttle body. i'm currently waiting on the estimate but saw all the complaints and needed to add my name to the list of people with this problem. ford should take this as a loss for the safety and betterment of its clients. *tr

Vehicle has the same throttle body condition as other failed units. code p2111. *tr

The throttle actuator control system of my 2010 ford escape is stuck closed per the p2112 code. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving 20 mph the vehicle stalled. a few days later while driving 70 mph the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and was informed the throttle body would need to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 82,000. updated 01/07/14*lj

I was driving at a speed of 45-50 mph and suddenly i lost power. the engine was running but even with pressing the accelerator to the floor i only had a speed of 5 mph for an additional 500 yards. then i lost all power. the engine was idling but no power. i had to have my vehicle towed to a ford dealership. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while traveling 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration power. the vehicle was moved to the shoulder where it was shut down and restarted. the vehicle then resumed normal function. the contact also mentioned that the failure recurred several weeks later. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the throttle body assembly was replaced. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 27,000.

We had just turned onto our street, started to proceed up the hill at about 35-40 mph. car suddenly went unresponsive. wrench light indicator lit up on dashboard. started to idle very hard, then surge, then low idle, then surge rpm. no gas pedal response at all. luckily we had just got off the highway, and were close to home. however, we were going uphill. we had just enough momentum to get over the hill and coast down to our driveway. upon putting the car in park in our driveway, the rpm's were fluctuating from almost 0, then shooting back up to over 2500. from wanting to stall, to wanting to race ahead. in researching, i have seen this described as a faulty electronic throttle body, which apparently has affected over 725,000 of these vehicles and still without recall. this is insane and highly dangerous if you are traveling in heavy traffic or on the highway as you have no control over the vehicle just wanting to stop dead. we were lucky in that we were already off of the interstate and close to home. please, please investigate this issue further! our normal warranty has just expired of course, and they say this is not covered by the powertrain warranty. great, we have to pay not only for the car, but for it's defects as well. we don't just have an extra $500.00 laying around to repair this! this should be a recall. *tr

Driving down the highway, my car suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and i could no longer continue down the road. i pulled over and my car was running extremely rough. it almost felt like the car was bucking due to a novice driving a manual transmission - note that this was when i was parked as well as when i was decelerating. i noticed the orange wrench lit up on my dash and got a tow to the nearest dealership. the dealership called me and let me know it was a throttle body issue and it has been replaced. my car only had 48k on it and there is no way in my opinion that this should happen. i feel like i'm having money stolen from my wallet due to the fact ford is fully aware of the problem but is not taking proactive steps to fix it. *tr

My husband and i were driving from downtown columbus back to our home and we were in between multiple cars on the freeway. while going 65 mph the vehicle began to slightly jerk and loose speed. the vehicles around us and behind us were attempting to avoid crashing into us. we about half a mile from the nearest exit and by the time we made it to the ramp we were only going 35 mph. there was no where to safely pull over on the freeway due to ongoing construction. it was extremely dangerous and i felt as though we could have been in a potentially deadly accident. throughout this ordeal the throttle control/powertrain light was on. once we got off on the nearest exit we were forced to come to a complete stop. we obviously could not use the gas to go forward and it was scary because we had traffic behind us. we turned the vehicle completely off and restarted it right there on the exit ramp and to our surprise the vehicle started up and the light was off. after reading how many people have had this same incident occur to them while driving this vehicle i am shocked that there has not been a recall. does someone have to die before someone does something about this? what if my 2 year old had been in the vehicle on the freeway and someone hit us because we were unable to avoid a crash? now i know that i should not be driving this vehicle because it appears that this will continue from what i have read and i am supposed to give money to ford to fix a problem that is not my fault... *shaking my head*, someone needs to do something about this. *tr

Vehicle lost all power while the electrical system remained on. unable to supply fuel to the engine. vehicle coasted to a stop. was in passing lane at the time, with traffic behind me. able to pull off highway. the vehicle restarted without icon lights. drove approximately 2 miles, same situation. vehicle restarted with check engine light remaining on. vehicle was taken to a local ford dealer for repair. diagnostic codes indicated a failed throttle body assembly. this was a non-warranty repair costing $608.80 plus rental car. *tr

Left turn form a stop and engine went to idle, no acceleration. shut engine off and restarted , normal. drove home three miles and parked. won't drive until problem is corrected. *tr

Car stalled while driving at 40 miles per hour.this situation happened after i took the car to the dealership for a fuel service. the car stalling was awful. it was the third time it happened during that week. the engine service soon sign went on after the incident. i was driving my car with my 2 years old daughter in the backseat. it was a dangerous situation. i was lucky not to be hit by other cars. i brought the car to the service again and they said it was a failure of the throttle body. they charged me 600 dollars for a replacement. i am not happy with this situation because it looked like a malfunction. the car is under 20000 miles and i keep it in tip top condition. *tr

When driving the vehicle, the accelerator became useless and i had to coast to the side of the road, turn the ignition off and back on and everything was fine at that point. this happened on 4 different occasions before i was able to get the vehicle to the local ford dealer for an analysis of the situation. the dealer replaced the throttle body and charged me $159.13 for the part and labor. *tr

On 6/18/2013 i was driving around 45 mph and my escape's engine/power train completely turned off and i coasted onto the shoulder. i waited a few minutes and it started again. i took it to a garage we use and they could not find the problem. a few days later the engine shut down again when i was driving around 60 mph. i coasted to the shoulder of the highway, waited a few minutes and started it again. on 8/2/2013 the engine shut down once again. this time the engine light came on. i paid over $600 to have the throttle body replaced at this time. *tr

I was driving on i-64 westbound in the far left hov lane in newport news, virginia around 4:30 p.m. on august 2 during rush hour when my 2010 ford escape, which was on cruise control set at 60 mph, suddenly stopped accelerating. i pressed the pedal and it continued to decelerate and started to shake. i put on my emergency flashers. my husband and i almost got hit numerous times by cars traveling at speeds of up to 65 miles per hour, as i was forced to cross four lanes of speeding traffic to reach the right shoulder. i feared that had my car stopped before reaching the shoulder, another car would have easily slammed into the rear of my vehicle, causing major bodily harm or death. after numerous near-collisions, i made it safely to the right shoulder. at that point, my heart was racing and my hands were trembling. my husband and i could have been killed!!! my car is now sitting at the ford dealership with no estimated time of repair. i depend upon my automobile for transportation to and from work, as well as other places. please help me. *tr

When driving a wrench light came on and i had no power to the acceleration pedal but the engine never stalled causing the car to coast to the side of the road. the problem was the throttle body. happened more then one time last time was at 59000 miles first was around 40000 miles. *tr

The car stalls out and loses power without warning during operation. speed at the time is irrelevant. people will die because of this defective throttle body. its inevitable. don't wait for a family of 4 to stall out on a 4 lane highway going 65 mph causing an 8 car pile up involving a tractor trailer and catastrophic injuries/fatalities. recall the cars. save lives. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled followed by the illumination of the wrench warning indicator. the contact performed a diagnostic, which located the failure at the electronic throttle body. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 80,000.

Driving down interstate 45 in houston, car was running, but no power from the gas pedal. needed to coast to an exit where i stopped completely. i needed to power down the car completely then restart the car before the gas pedal worked again. this has happened twice. the other time was about a month earlier. ford service department said it was a defective "throttle body". something like that shouldn't fail so early. i was just out of my warranty as well. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the accelerator failed to respond to acceleration attempts as the vehicle stalled. the contact also mentioned that the check engine light and the wrench warning icon illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the mechanic stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 72,000. the current mileage was 75,542. updated 11/15/13*cn

Was driving and suv suddenly would not continue at current speed, had gas mashed but suv would only go 3 miles an hour. was turning across 2 lanes of traffic when it happened. had to call and get help to get myself to work. *tr

Driving down the highway and the engine went "limp". the vehicle did not stall but did not have any power. pulled off to the side of the road, observed the wrench light on the dashboard. after a minute i turned off and then restarted the vehicle without problem. approximately 8-10 miles down the road the exact same issue arose. pulled off to the side of the road and restarted once again. additionally, the engine light came on an stayed on. previously, over the past year i have experienced more subtle issues when trying to accelerate in which the vehicle sort of hiccups and then eventually begins to accelerate. had the engine code read and determined the 2112 code identified a stuck throttle. *tr

My vehicle stalled out twice so i took it to the dealer and have been told i have to replace the throttle body. *tr
