Igniton switch fails to work half the time turn key will not start without excessive tries
The throttle is messing up.. it keeps stopping and then i turn my car off and start it again then it works. it happened on a busy street and i had my 3 kids with me
Window regulator on 3 of 4 windows had to be replaced. cable breaks (loud, startling bang), window "drops" and cannot be raised. one incident occurred while driving in 2017, one occurred while car was stationary and occupied in 2018, and one occurred while car was parked and vacant (6/27/19).
I was on the freeway when the battery light camo ,then abs light came on and the steering wheel locked i couldn't move to either side after a few seconds it when i'm off and i have control of the vehicle again,it happened twice after the battery light came ,the steering wheel locked,
The switch fails to start the escape. we have been having to press on the key and wiggle it. now the car fails to start. this is not necessarily a safety issue, bue could leave us stranded, whether out on the road, or somewhere we are not known. this happens when the ignition is cut off, and then trying to get it started. have any other escape owners had this problem. i have been told that it could be repaired but that the cost of the parts would be over $400.00.
2010 ford escape instrument cluster panel malfunctions and speed dial falls to zero while driving. at times it doesn't work at all.
When the vehicle comes to a stop whether it be a stop sign or red light, the rpm's over rev higher at the time of leaving from a stop when gas is given to vehicle. after the vehicle gets back up to speed the rpm's drop back to a normal range.
My engine locked oil leaking battery dies air bag light comes on suv shakes rear windshield whippers drain battery constant jumps and road side assistance.
I was backing out of a parking space when a beep sounded and message "steering assist light came up. i went to branford (connecticut) ford and they said the steering column needed replacing. without this it could jam and cause and accident. car also had strained starting. they said battery was weak. replaced battery. next day same problem starting. obviously not the new battery. .
I purchased the vehicle just under 2 years ago ongoing issues the car will stall out/die while driving ac/heat causes issues i have had a ton of work done and the issues are reoccurring while diving on city street it has stalled out as well as in park. the cause of the issue is unknown
My car suddenly loses power while driving. check engine light came on, with codes p2112, p0443, and c1963. the issue(s) seem to happen while i am driving at 55mpg or higher. this has occurred both on the interstate as well as back roads where the speed limit is 55. the most recent time this happened was a period starting on 06/04/2018 through 06/05/2018. this happened 5 times during this period, but has also happened several times since december 2017 as well.
There is excessive corrosion and rot on my subframe that has caused a large hole as well as my control arm to become loose. this is caused by excessive rust from road salt and other dirt. this has made my car unable to pass inspection.
Air conditioning does not work and radiator fan running constantly and loudly sounding as if it will blow up. the air conditioning system parts have been replaced as have the radiator fan relay switch. the issues are re-occuring again. ford dealerships claim they have no knowledge of this problem or of a fix, although there are many similar complaints online. theses issues appear somehow to be related because when the rad fan is on high, soon after the air conditioning unit dumps the coolant. i just had a 5,000 mile oil change and inspection and the coolant was said to have been filthy, but it had just been replaced in early july 2017, when the air conditioning unit dumped it. the air conditioning is not working and the rad fan is running on high all the time.
I have a 2010 ford escape. the car jerks when accelerating. feels like you're getting hit from the back. ford authorized dealership been trying to get it fixed for about two years now claiming that the faulty parts are replaced/fixed. now my extended warranty has expired and i still have the same problem. this is a safety issue if the vehicle jerks and have to look around.
Car was parked in a parking lot. not started. my mom put shopping parcels in the trunk.when closing the rear hatch door the window glass exploded out. there were no items touching the glass from in the trunk. the temperature outside was about 10 degrees fahrenheit.
Rear window shattered as car was parked outside, ambient temperature of 12 degrees f. no evidence of vandalism was present.
The anti-theft signal keeps coming on in my car. when i am moving and not moving all the warning in my car comes on. the speedometer goes to zero, the gas gage goes to empty, etc with all the other warning lights. i was driving on the highway and all of sudden every single warning light came on. i immediately got off the next exit and parked at a gas station. i turned the car off, but it would not start for about 10 minutes. i finally got it to start and drove quickly to work. i took the car that afternoon to ford service. they said it was my ignition, so they changed the part and charged me over $320. when i drive my car the next morning, it happened again. i took my car to ford again that morning. now they tell me the board that had the electrical parts is corroded, so they changed that and charged over $720. the next day after i took the car home it happened for a quick moment, but then it stopped. today 10/18/17 which is 2 days after i picked my car up from ford service i let my car warm up in the morning for about 10 mins, but when i got in the car all the warning lights came on again. this time the car would not start at all and the anti-theft warning light kept blinking each time. so i had to call a tow truck. so now i have no car, i'm out over $1,000 and i have to get a car rental. and ford service continues to charge each time including a diagnostic test for over $100. i didn't know i had an anti-theft system and i don't need one. there is nothing wrong with the car, but ford service is not able to fix this. i don't feel safe driving the car and i don't know what i am going to do now. in my opinion this is a ford manufacturing problem and i should not be charged to fix this problem. i don't want an anti-theft system. i want my money back. i have pictures for two of the times this happened. although it ...
Wrench and engine light is on in car. completely stalled in traffic. p2118 code was diagnosed and the throttle body system is stuck open.
While driving, the wrench light comes on and the engine loses power. when i turn the engine off and back on the light may go out but will come on again after driving. i was told by the dealer this is problem with the throttle. i have had this repaired twice, the first under a recall. i had to pay for the second repair. now it is happening again all within about 2 years. this is very dangerous while driving in traffic and at highway speeds. i was told that this is due to a faulty part that ford knows about. this needs to be corrected asap before someone is seriously hurt because of it.
While driving my 2010 ford escape xls 4 cylinder , the truck stalled and cut off during driving. lucky i was able to pull to the side of the road. i started the truck back after 30 minutes, the truck drove and again with no warning the truck started to stall and cut off. the just started to happen out of no where. i bought the truck used and still paying on it. the warranty that i purchased ran out at the beginning of this year. this was a very dangerous situation; this happen right during rush hour traffic and by the grace of god i was able to pull to the side. i did manage to get the truck home but after reading multiple complaints regarding the same issue, i feel like this should of been looked into by ford for a possible recall. from what i am getting this is from a known issue with early model ford escapes "electric throttle body". i was on a street when this occurred while driving straight at 34 to 40 miles per hour.
I had to have the throttle body replaced at 75000 miles. it cost us 218.00 i have the receipt.
The a/c broke just 2 months after purchase, and the dealership told me it wasn't covered. i have clients and children in my vehicle daily, and in the extreme dc heat it can be very dangerous with only hot air blowing out of the vents. this is a terrible problem, and i was told it is a manufacturer defect, which means you should recall these vehicles to be repaired. i am unable to afford it on my own, as i just purchased this vehicle 2 months ago!! this is horrible, ford should recall these immediately!!
Starting the car with the key. you have to push the key in hard as you are turning it.
I was driving and the lift gate shattered.
2010 ford escape. consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair recall notice 16v-777. *smd updated 05/19/2017*js updated 08/14/2017*js
Takata recall / ford defective product low mileage escape involved in a frontal crash and rear ended another vehicle (2005 accura) and the air bag system failed to deploy. $13,000 escape was totaled. this is unacceptable.
Corrosion of hatchback brackets.i have ownened my escape for 2 yrs and noticed the corrosion of these brackets.i was returning home from shopping and went to open the glass portion of the hatchback when the hinges broke off due to the corrosion over the years.the only thing i can think about is what if this would have happened while i was on an interstate, not a good ending. i have checked other websites and this is a very common problem with these veichles.i have even noticed this problem in shopping parking lots and other ford escapes on the road.please advise what to do this is a very serious problem as well as dangerous.
Vehicle stalled. mechanic said throttle body had to be replaced. cost me 350.
My 2010 ford escape has a misfire between the steering or ignition column and the electrical system, the car rides very rough and has lost power steering during driving on a highway, brought into ford dealership and they said no recall for the parts needed to repair, i read thenhtsa reports and read all the facts that happened to my car it said it is the control module and instrument cluster module.. but dealership said no recall.
All of a sudden the engine starts to rev up when i am waiting at a traffic light or driving. it scares me that i push on the brake more as i am waiting for traffic light to change or when i am driving i take my foot off the gas pedal because am afraid of going faster.
The rear hatch lock will not release to open, only the window will open. this happens even when all of the locks are open.
Rear windshield shattered upon normal closing of tailgate. i have additional pictures
I had turned off the highway and was traveling down a busy road when my car completely stopped without warning. luckily, i was in the right lane and on a bit of a downward slope and was able to steer the "dead" car off the road. i turned off the engine and waited a minute. i turned on the car and it started again. i am concerned as i do a lot of highway driving and if my car suddenly stops like that again, there could be dire consequences. the earliest a dealer can look at my car is january 8th. my local dealer - january 14th. today is december 28th. after reading some of these reports, i am afraid to drive it. meanwhile, i need to rent a car, until someone at a ford dealer is able to look at it this is not the first time this has happened. however, after previously having the car towed to a dealership - i thought the problem was resolved.
Was completely stopped and took off slightly pressing the gas peddle and it felt like it tried to stall out and then lunged forward. the service wrench came on and we stopped and turned the vehicle off then started it again and that time both service wrench and service engine light came on. went in to get the engine light tested and the result was throttle actuator control and throttle body range, code p2119
Tell us what happened: was completely stopped and took off slightly pressing the gas pedal and it felt like it tried to stall out and then lunged forward. the service wrench came on and we stopped and turned the vehicle off then started it again and that time both service wrench and service engine light came on. went in to get the engine light tested and the result was throttle actuator control and throttle body range, code p2119
In july 2015 after leaving golf mill ford in niles, il. for an oil change and tire rotation i drove through some construction mud and got home to clean the mud and noticed rust above the tire on my passenger rear wheel well, where i would have never looked otherwise. i called the dealer and went back and they put a claim to ford. after one month ford called me to tell me that because it was past 5yrs that they couldn't do anything. it could have been there before 5 years because it's a place where most car owners don't look. after researching on social media i see that there are thousands of ford escape owners with similar problem. there is no doubt in my mind that ford failed to make these vehicles properly and they should do a recall on all these vehicles and stand behind their product. i take very good care of my vehicles, washing and doing regular maintenance and it is also garage kept always. i am utterly upset with ford because they are just ignoring it and don't care. something needs to be done about this. the cars made in recent years should never have rust in that short of time. my previous vehicle was a 1997 ford explorer and was 12 years old and there was not a speck of rust on it. please help me and other owners with this issue !!!!!
My car cut off while i was driving & when i was at a stop light. the car came to a sudden stop in the middle of an intersection (completely losing all power) a large suv swerved to prevent from hitting me. i immediately took the car to the vic bailey ford, they kept my car on & off for 5 days. charging me $98 for a diagnostic test (that they stated revealed nothing about the problem) & then they turned around & charged me $130 for a new battery, the car continued to cut off on me. they kept my car for another 3 days. finally they called me & told me to come pick up the car. the service dept. stated that they didn't know what was wrong w/ the car, but they knew something was wrong w/ it. they told me to wait til the problem got worst. they sent me home w/ a car that cuts off constantly, they don't care that i need to drive a dependable car.
The car suddenly accelerated, i had to slammed on the brakes and place the car in park to avoid hitting another car. these 2010 ford car is very dangerous and very harmful to anyone who drives it.
Purchased 2010 ford escape xlt in april 2015. (1) vehicle had sound coming from engine when accelerating. issued fixed by dealer replacing belt tensioner but noise has since returned. (2) vehicle already had or developed constant vibration at idle when in drive and foot on break and gets worse with a/c on. took to dealer 3 times who stated they replaced right engine mount and rear transmission mount but vibration continued after repairs. service dept tech stating that there is a strong vibration but that they are unable to determine engine vibration but that vehicle is operational. vibration is very strong and almost feels like engine wants to turn off at times. if transmission is put in neutral or park then vibration is gone and not noticeable while driving. (3) transmission shifting from 1st to 2nd is harsh and delayed at times causing a jerking motion on numerous occasions during city driving and transmission occasionally jerks when put in reverse but not always consistent. safety concern is vehicle feels as if it may shut down while this vibration is being observed and causes safety concerns when driving vehicle and that transmission may fail soon. purchased at fiat of fresno, fresno ca.
I pulled out of my street on to a main road and with no warning my escape shut off completely while driving and multiple cars almost hit me because it was so unexpected. now my car randomly shuts off and goes into limp mode, causing it to be quite dangerous to drive my vehicle because it gives you no warning.
Driver side door fails to lock or unlock with key fob and the driver's side door also fails to lock with the automatic safety feature that locks doors when driving this is a constant problem.
The air conditioner on these cars are defective. there are numerous complaints online regarding the air not working. there seems to also be an issue with the front end wheel bearing/suspension.
The ignition switch does not always work when you turn the car on.
Traveling on freeway 65mph sudden loss of speed, unable to accelerate when pushed on gas pedal, was able to steer and brake, maneuvered to side of the road, "wrench" warning light appeared on dashboard. turned off ingniton then restarted car functioned normally. felt car was to dangerous to drive and had car towed to ford dealership, replaced electronic throttle body. very dangerous to loose power at that speed on the freeway, was in middle lane in heavy traffic. *js
Started car, turned on rear window defogger, opened hatch, closed hatch. rear window shattered. over the phone, ford customer service admitted there is a flaw in design but subject to no recall. had to file insurance claim and deductible was my responsibility.
Vehicle failed, as it stopped an alarm lit up, showing a wrench, diagnostic showed a trottle failure. it has happened (5) times since dec 04, 2013. last time, it failed after seventeen (17) miles run. when vehicle is turned off, the alarm light goes off and the vehicle runs again.
I was driving down road tuesday morning sept 17 2013 and all of a sudden my car loses throttle, my foot is on the gas pedal but it's not going anywhere. i'm fortunate that there was a store where was able to pull off the road. i turn the car off and sat for about 10 to 15 seconds and started it back up, it hesitated at first so i waited for another 15 to 20 second and tried it again it started and i was able to get my daughter to school and to work. on my way home it happened again. i contacted my local ford dealer to see if i can bring it in and they were able to get me in wed sept 17. once i explained to the serviceman what happened, he informed me that they have been fixing this same problem for consumers all summer. after i picked my car up i goggled the issue with the throttle body and found there have been several consumers who have had to experience this problem since the beginning of the year. as a consumer i am very disappointed that ford has not issued a recall for this issue and i have to pay to have my car fixed when they are clearly responsible for the problem. what will it take for them to take care of this issue? why haven't ford motor company been forced to issue a recall to have this problem taken care of? i was fortunate that i wasn't on the expressway yesterday (which is my usual route) when this happened. the outcome could have been different. i would like to see ford held responsible for this and refund me and the rest of its customers for having to repair our cars with they are clearly the one's that should be responsible.
This occurred while driving back from work, i bought the vehicle used and it passed inspection from the ford dealership. i have owned vehicle for almost 5 months when this failure occurred. the symptoms that i experienced were loss of power while accelerating and engine automatically goes into "limp mode" (engine ecu protection protocol so no more damage would be done to the engine) i noticed that the orange wrench light came on in the dashboard, so i took the vehicle to a another ford dealership and i explained what happened, right of the bat the woman behind the counter said it was a transmission failure (without even looking at the vehicle) so i became suspicious. i took the vehicle to another ford dealership and i got a hold of the actual mechanic and right away he said it was the throttle body, out of good faith he advise that i can change that part myself without having to pay ford for them to fix. the estimate for getting it fixed through the dealership was close to $600 +tax, when the part itself cost only around $200 +tax. i bought the part from the dealership and changed it, ever since that fix my vehicle is running even better than before. the man behind the counter that gave me the part mentioned that many people are having this issue and that usually changing the throttle body fixes the issue, he also mentioned that if a recall is to be made to just bring back the defective part and the proof of purchase in order to get my money back. ford should just stop denying this issue and just admit that the issue was never fully fixed.
Traveling at 60 mph on the highway, vehicle suddenly lost acceleration and the yellow wrench light came on. coasted to the side of the road and put vehicle in park. pushed down on accelerated, but no response. shut down vehicle. waited a few moments. vehicle started again. drove directly to dealership. after two days, they were unable to diagnose a problem. that was five days ago. this evening, it happened again. vehicle is returning to dealership along with several articles regarding ford's throttle body issue. i have also filed a complaint with ford on their website. *tr
Was driving on the freeway and car started to jerk and i started to lose speed even though i was stepping on the gas nothing was happening. i was able to pull over safely to shoulder and put the car into park while the car was shaking violently and turn it off, waited a few minutes and with hesitation it started back up and i was able to continue home.. happened a second time the very next day only doing 25 and a wrench indicator light came on and again no gas or speed from the pedal was able to shut it off restart and continue home.. very scary and dangerous situation it needs to be addressed.. *tr
