We have classified the 779 complaints from 2013 Ford Edge about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
The dash says that the door is ajar when it is closed. i have seen where there have been numerous complaints about the sensor or latch going bad. i am having similar problems. *tr
Door ajar sensor - leading you to believe the door is ajar. the door is closed but the interior lights remain on as though the door is ajar. the interior lights may or may not turn off while driving this is dangerous at night. door lock button won't activate door locks sensing a door is ajar again very dangerous.this sensor comes on at will driving not driving no rhyme or reason. prolonged lighting may shorten the life of my battery or leave us stranded. ford refuses to acknowledge this design problem and the burden of repair on their customers a recall is in order. *tr
Driver door ajar light stays on long after car is parked or driving along with inter lights stay on tire pressure sensor stays low pressure random times cold or hot weather
The drivers side door sensor will come on indicating that the drivers side door is open, when it is in fact closed tight. it will cause my lights to remain on awhile after driving, and anytime i stop then accelerate, it will ding to notify me that the door is still open. which is extremely frustrating. also, because it thinks the door is open, the dome lights stay on longer which has drained my battery, to the point that i've had to jump start my car. the sensor indicated the door is open despite being stationary or moving. *tr
For the past several months i have been having a problem with a message telling me that the driver door is ajar. the message tells me to put the car in park and shut the door. after several tries to get the message off, sometimes it will work but most of the time i end up shutting and reshutting the door to get the message off. and while the message is on the interior lights stay on. sometimes i spend hours trying to get the message off. i have been told that it is a sensor. this needs to be fixed. a recall must be made to take care of this problem. also, in addition to the lights staying on, the doors will not lock. it is very annoying and not safe. also, i am worried that the battery will run down. i am getting to the point that i don't even want to drive the car.
Rear left door ajar. interior dome lights stay on for a significantly varying amount of time when driving and when it's dark at night this is very distracting and dangerous. the interior dome lights stay on for a significantly varying amount of time after the car is turned off and key is removed. this is draining the battery and going to lead to premature battery failure. sometimes the car doors won't lock while driving. sometimes car doors won't lock after exiting car in non-secure areas such as parking lots, etc.
Low oil engine pressure at all times indicated, olmost since purchase 2 yaers ago.when vehicle is in motion on a city or highway .
In april 2014 at 20,000 miles a shift to park notice was beeping when engine was shut off and vehicle put in park. had to keep foot on break and jiggle shifter to get shift to part notice to stop to ensure vehicle was in park and would not roll away and to prevent battery from draining. was repaired by dealer under warranty in june 2014. in september 2016 at 47,000 miles the shift to park notices are happening again. dealer says it is not covered under warranty and wants to charge for diagnostic and repair. obviously the repair peformed under warranty did not fix the issue and this car is defective. i have safety concerns that the shift to park issue could result in car rolling away after driver believes they have parked car.
In april 2014 at 20,000 miles door ajar light remained on while driving vehicle. was repaired by dealer under warranty in april 2014. in september 2016 at 47,000 miles the door ajar light is back on again. dealer says it is not covered under warranty and wants to charge for diagnostic and repair. obviously the original repair performed under warranty did not fix the issue and this car is defective. i have safety concerns whether door is actually closed while driving.
Door ajar indicator stays on even though door is correctly closed. my 2013 edge has less than 38000 miles. but ford will not fix without owner paying for it. this is not the first 2013 edge with this problem and ford should fix without owner's cost
The driver side front door closes but the door ajar warning light stays on and is annoying. my wife took it in and they wanted 500.00 to fix it on a 3yr. old car they can't make a latch to last longer than 3 yrs.?
My 2013 ford edge has a mechanical/electric door jar switch which fails thus you end up with a 'door ajar' warning on your dash. thus you can't lock your doors and the light and radio remain on after to exit the vehicle.
Door ajar light stays on, faulty sensor does not read when the door is shut. lights stay on and warning prompt appears on dash while driving with alarm. vehicle mileage 51,000.
The drivers door (adjar) signal keeps indicating the door is open even if the door is firmly closed. this cause the cabin lights to remain on and the alarm going of every so many seconds. it distracts me constantly.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while driving at any speed, the engine indicator illuminated and the power shut down. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was electrical failure. the vehicle was repaired; however, the issue recurred numerous times. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 15,500.
The left door ajar sensor light stays on after all doors are closed securely. the doors do not automatically lock after starting to drive. the dome light stays on for a long time. the warning signal beeps every time we step on the brake and is very annoying.
Passenger front door ajar warning light staying on causing interior lights to stay on.
The driver's door warning drivers door is ajar will not go off. even when car is off, lights remain on inside the car. while driving, light and warning continually stay on, doors will not lock because sensor for door remains on. when i come to a stop while car is running, warning to shift car to park will come on..this is a huge safety problem with little children in car.. doors will not stay locked..
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. the contact stated that the "door ajar" indicator illuminated when the doors were closed. when the contact managed to get the "door ajar" indicator to go off, it came back on while driving. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin and failure mileage were unknown.
The car is at 50,000 and the drivers side door ajar signals the door is open and it is not. this is a safety issue because the doors do not automatically lock as they should. also, it causes the dome lights to stay on and other sensors to come on when the car is at a stop light or stop sign. due to this being an issue read about widely ford should issue a recall to fix this.
Door ajar warning despite door being closed. doors remain unlocked and interior lights remain on.
To whom it my concern we have a 2013 ford edge. we have had it to ford to fix door ajar light on dash witch was saying driver door was the problem at about 34000 miles ford fixed it by cleaning the sensor worked for awhile under warranty. about a month later same problem and was not covered under warranty cost about $380.00 to fix had to change sensor now at 42000 miles door ajar light is back on say passenger door. dome light stays on witch at night is a safety hazard and now the doors will not stay locked how do i know if door is not going to come open. i feel ford has a big problem with this issue and needs to own up to there responsibility and address the problem. this car was purchased new we are the original owners and don't feel we should be responsible to keep paying out of pocket for fords problem this car is a 4 door we've already paid for one door and now have to fix another one. thanks
Door ajar sensor is defective. the drivers door continues to tell me it is open even after repeatedly opening and firmly closing the door. the inside lights stay on, which is a safety issue at night, and the doors won't lock. i spoke to ford and they want to charge me 500 for the part.
Was driving approx. 45 mph coming thru a 5 corners major intersection at peak traffic time of 5:15pm. driving on state farm to market road in town of 100k residents. had been driving approx. 3 miles. temp in 80's, roads dry. complete loss of power, nearly rear ended. car crept a little, moved to middle turn lane, strong forward lurch/jerk, yellow wrench light on. put car in park, turned it off. tried to start, nothing. sat about a minute, tried, started. limped to parking lot. turned vehicle off, sat for about 20 minutes. then took route home going thru subdivisions where stall would not jeapordize life. could not drive to dealer as that would involve highway, and risk of fatal accident. i was very fortunate today, have never been that scared driving a vehicle in 40 yrs of driving.
Vehicle has warning light for door ajar even though door is closed. doors will not lock, and dome lights will not go off. stop car and close door several times to go off. this has happened while driving, door locks open on their own, warning light dings, etc. and door is closed. this is s known hazard and should be recalled to repair latch before someone is seriously injured. *tr
The driver door ajar light comes on and stays on even though the door is completely shut and it makes no difference how many times you slam the door closed. the doors will not lock if the car does not believe the door is closed. the problem with that is, the door could potentially open during an accident or i could be carjacked or my family could be pulled out of the car while sitting at a stop light or intersection. i believe this is a serious safety issue to not be able to lock your auto while traveling. also, since the door ajar light is unreliable the door may not be closed and could fly open while turning causing an accident. in addition it is very difficult to determine if the door ajar or reverse sensing is dinging, which defeats the purpose of the back up camera. i believe this is a safety issue since i depend a great deal on the back up camera to make sure i do not back into someone. at first the light would stay on only about 50% of the time, but now the light stays on about 99% if the time.
Drivers side door ajar light stays on even when door is completely closed.
Door ajar light on dash continues to stay lit after door is closed. this creates an issue as the door locks will not engage when the vehicle is running.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. the contact stated that the door ajar warning indicator illuminated while attempting to drive. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 40,000. updated 12/01/16*lj the consumer also stated the warning buzzer would not go out when the door was closed. the dealer cleaned the door switch . updated 12/15/16.*jb
The "driver door ajar" light does not turn off when you close the door. it will remain on the entire time the vehicle is being driven. the lights will stay on when you are not in the vehicle and when driving at night. unable to lock the doors from the keypad because the vehicle thinks the door is still open. the horn beeps twice when you try to lock the vehicle with the key fob indicating that the door is open. the radio will also remain on after you exit the vehicle and lock the doors.
The driver side door ajar sensor fails to detect that the door is closed and latched. this causes the automatic door locks to unlock the doors even when the vehicle is in motion. this can be a safety issue in the event of a collision.
The rear door is continually stating that it is ajar and all doors refuse to lock automatically when put in "drive".
The door open warning light stays on even when its closed, this is not allowing the doors to close properly , this also causes the panic alarm to go off and it keeps the dome light on while driving causing glare at night due to the bright dome light staying on. this also drains the batter due to the constant intirior lights staying on when the car is parked and closed
Driver's door sensor does not work properly making it seem the door is open when it is not. doors cannot be locked making for unsafe conditions for passengers. carjacking very possible!
Door ajar light on leaving dome lights on causing battery to die and everytime stop at red light-chimes
My 2013 ford edge keeps saying the driver side door is ajar, chimes keep going off, the dome light keeps going off & on & i am unable to lock my doors. this is a huge safety concern especially with my 4 year old in the car with me. and now they recall 1.5 million vehicles because the doors can fly open!?!?! where is the recall on my vehicle???????? are you all waiting on fatalities?!?!?! come on ford!!
Car door ajar message ad dome light on at all times, low electrical power, caused the battery to go bad, latch on door problem, car would not lock, car stationary and you could not lock the door to start car
Open door warning lights come on even when doors are closed, happened 2 years ago with back drivers doors and was fixed, a year later the same happens with the drivers door. this is constant once you turn on the car and close all doors, sometime if door is close very hard, light turns off. sometimes works, sometimes don't. it does not impedes the car to drive correctly but bothers with sound, lights and warnings.
Door ajar light and chime happens all the time, even when the door is not ajar.
Past year car warns to shift into park; although in park. warning that drivers door is ajar, when it is closed. this causes the interior lights to stay on, cant lock the doors and causes my car alarm to go off at any given time. the dealer has been unable to fix. please recall this. there and tons of complaints on this site and all over the internet. how can ford ignore this???
After starting vehicle, the driver door ajar light will come on. the doors will not lock and the interior lights will stay on. this is the third time this has happened. it started the first time, april of 2015, 42,799 miles. took to dealer and said it was fixed. april 2016, 54,629 miles did same thing. returned to dealer, said it was fixed. today at 58,770 miles it is doing same thing again. vehicle is presently at the dealer for repair. do not feel i should have to pay for this repair again. the government should make ford recall this problem and get it fixed. do not feel it is safe to be driving and this happens, no locked doors and interior lights can come on. when this happens, you can hit the ok switch on the steering wheel to stop the warning buzzer from constantly ringing to the occasional reminder, but the doors still do not lock. this happens right after you get in the vehicle, shut the door and start the engine. it has also happened when driving and it will come on.
Driver door ajar warning comes on continually. it is not ajar. an irritating alarm is sounded repeatedly. re-closing the door does not correct the problem. the alarm continues to sound whether in motion or stopped.
Drivers side door sensor states that the door is ajar. this leaves the interior lights on. the inability to lock the door. it also depletes the battery because the computer is still active.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. the contact stated that the door ajar warning indicator randomly flashed and all four doors failed to lock appropriately when necessary. in addition, upon exiting the vehicle, the dome light remained illuminated and the contact had to close the doors several times to get the light to dim. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Door ajar light kept coming on, started early 2015 while in warranty. it was repaired but is now doing it again as of aug., 2016 and out of warranty. also, dome lights will not turn off sometimes.
Two problems:1) door ajar light stays on - door has to be slammed several times before light goes out, sometimes light stays on for entire 15 mile drive to work. problem 2) shift to park light comes on- car is in park , must jam shifter forward to get light to go off. sometime must put car into drive, move forward few feet and back to park. both problems are intermittent but happens 8 of 10 times we drive the vehicle.
For about a month the door ajar signal stays on when door is closed. interior light stays on. not able to lock doors while in or outside of the vehicle. while driving (streets or highway) the shift to park indicator lights up, the door ajar indicator comes on, interior lights turn on, all the doors unlock and the door open chimes are heard. when i initially checked for recalls there are several internet stories from 2014 related to this issue on the ford edge. i was told about a recall that had been issued on ford vehicles so i took my edge to south bay ford on saturday, august 5, 2016. i was told that my edge was not on the recall list. on august 4, 2016 cnbc reported the recall of about 830,000 ford vehicles (http://www.cnbc.com/2016/08/04/ford-recalls-830000-2012-2016-ford-and-lincoln-vehicles-to-fix-latches.html) . to my surprise the 2013 ford edge is not listed.
A faulty switch in driver door causing a constant faulty driver door ajar alarm in car...dome light stays on at night while car is in reverse...doors will not lock while driving because the sensor is saying that the door is open...after parking/shutdown lights remain on additional minutes, again sensing that the door is open causing un-needed battery drain...no recall...$400 repair to replace a cheap faulty door switch...many people complaining on internet about this very problem...
Drivers door ajar sensor always on interior lights draining battery unable to lock doors
