2011 ford edge doors will not lock in drive when door adjar light is on - sensor issue with ford vehicles in door - faulty door adjar switch when on will not let you lock doors and will not auto lock when putting in drive

The drivers side 'door ajar' light stays on, even though the door is obviously not open. the interior lights stay on until the vehicle begins moving forward after reaching a certain speed. when the vehicle is shut off, the radio & power immediately shuts off as well. this could become a problem if it kills the battery.

Mytouch screen will not allow me to change time, turn on heat for seats or choose between driver and passenger seats, adjust temperature in vehicle. sometimes when trying to turn heat on seat, it will just change radio stations. screen not sensitive to touch.

While loading/unloading from back, gate comes down unexpectedly.

Door ajar sensor. the door is closed, dome lights are on while driving at night and battery continues to go dead as the lights won't turn off. $500 to fix and you just keep paying and paying and paying to fix a problem that should be a recall issue for ford. it's certainly unsafe while driving at night, and getting stranded with a dead battery continuously.

Display screen for back up process is dead. dangerous safety concern. screen is dead all the time. main computer is faulty and needs to be replaced at huge expense.

Battery tested fine. when stationary the ford edge will not start and all warning signs for the vehicle are on. the radio turns is on and interior lights. also, while in motion the car it all of sudden stops in the middle of traffic my neighborhood.

Door ajar sensor not working. after the car is moving the doors will not lock which is a safety concern for my wife and daughter.

The door ajar light is constantly on causing the interior lights to stay on after you get out of car and while you are driving. also the car locks will not lock while driving the car and you can't leave the key in the ignition while parked but staying in the car. a bell will just keep ringing until you remove the key.

Screen for controlling radio/navigation sync blanks out. apim bad costs $1000 to repair. extended warranty 12m02 not long enough. should be a recall.

Door ajar issue. even when all doors shut, slammed shut, closed nicely, shows as driver door ajar. this is also when locking the car and arming the alarm

Door ajar light stays on, doors do not lock, extremely dangerous.

The door ajar light stays on while the door is physically closed and latched. due to this light staying on, the interior lights stay on, the doors do not automaticallly lock while driving, and when parked, the doors will not lock.

Door ajar light always on even while door is clearly shut. doors will not lock while driving and dome lights stay on draining battery.

Door ajar on front passenger door and interior lights and exterior lights staying on and not being able to automatic locking mechanism after you start driving or being able to lock the car when you park said vehicle. was told by dealer ford is notorious for the ford 2011 edge 3.5l v6 electrical-switch & relay door open warning relay was major problem with this vehicle . and it will keep the computer open and will drain the battery quickly causing the vehicle to die on the roadside after over 1500 complaint to ford company they stated not enough complaint .....this is a safety issue if you have children they can open a unlocked door what more proof do you need ford not to recall this issue and fix it !!

The drivers side door switch that senses when the door is open is stuck in the open position. therefore the computer thinks the door is open at all times. this causes the overhead lights to stay on when the car is in drive, and also prevents the doors from being locked while the engine is running. online searches indicate this is a common problem that's not being addressed by the manufacturer. the design of the door switch seems faulty, as it requires significant labor to disassemble the door and replacement of the entire assembly. this occurs while car is parked as well as when it is in motion.

Intermittently, hazard lights come on while car is parked.

My 2011 ford edge my touch screen went black. i was away from home and with a black screen i am unable to set temp of heat or air, or control/my window defroster/fogger.

My "door ajar" continues to stay on and i cannot alarm the car as it shows the drivers door as unlocked. i found out that the locking mechanism is faulty and will cost me around $450 to correct. for a 6-year-old car, this should not have gone out so soon.

Driver's door ajar light stays on even after door is closed.

The driver's door ajar light remains on even when the door is secure and latched.

When i shut my driver door the light comes on the dashboard saying "driver door ajar". i have to keep shutting/slamming the door to clear alarm. at most it will not go off. when i start to drive with all the doors closed all doors should lock and they don't because the door is open. i have two young children and i don't think it's safe. when i hit my key to lock the doors after i get out my interior lights stay on which is causing low battery! this needs to be fixed! for you to provide vehicles to the world safety is a must and their are so many others out there that has this problem why be so slow to correct it!!

On 2011 ford edge on the right front passenger door, a "door ajar" warning comes on and cannot be turned off, even when the door is repeated closed. after many tries, i have been able to get it to turn off. when it is on, the car interior lights stay on, leading to a dead battery, and issues with locking and knowing if the door is really closed. the "door ajar" light even came on once when the car was standing and door had not been touched

Door ajar light wont go off. will not allow the doors to lock while driving and the lights stay on after the car is turned off.

The door ajar sensor no longer is working. say my vehicle has the driver door open even when it is closed. it is causing issues with my battery due to the dome light staying on. it also will not stay locked, when ever i hit the lock button it automatically unlocks itself.

For months, this has been happening on a daily basis. passenger side door ajar, randomly unlocking doors/interior & exterior lights flash/ alarm goes off and dash/touch screen goes on/off. safety issue because interior lights can randomly come on at night... car has to be left unlocked or doors randomly unlock themselves.. and battery dies because lights and alarms go on and off all the time...all caused by this issue. afraid this may cause other issues, possible fire hazard if there is a major electrical issue. ford will not issue a recall because they say they haven't had enough complaints. they gave me a case # after the fifth month of calling them, only to deny it after i went to the dealership. frustrated!

Door ajar light keeps coming on. drains battery, can't lock door in fear of alarm going off. first time at 4:30 am! can be stationary or moving

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. the contact stated that the instrument panel constantly indicated that the rear driver side door was open when, in fact, the door was completely closed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

Driver's door ajar light stays on along with interior lights when door is closed

I now have had 2 door sensors go bad. i know of many people with faulty sensors. this not only is a safety hazard because the dome lights never go out, but you never know the true position of the doors. the cars dome lights stay on after you get out and lock it causing dead batteries! i've had to replace two batteries and a door sensor already. this is ridiculous. not to mention very expensive. i just bought a house and had a baby.

Faulty door latch on driver side. dash display indicates door ajar when it is closed. because of this problem the dome light stays on and runs down the battery. dangerous to drive with dome light on. this happens intermittently and it is my understanding this is a ongoing problem with this and other model ford vehicles.

Although the driver side front door is closed, "door ajar" warning is still illuminated, car does not allow locking of doors while this warning appears. also, dome light remains on for several minutes, which is a hazard for night-time driving. this warning appears whether or not the vehicle is in motion.

Driver door ajar! when the door is closed! uhh left me stranded twice because it ran down my battery.. there needs to be a recall! paid too much for this vehicle!

Ongoing issue since 03/2017, car only has 64k miles on it. door ajar light comes on and stays on when driver or passenger door is opened then closed. the dome light stays on while car is in reverse only turning off once car is in drive dangerous when backing at night. the bigger concern is none of the doors will stay locked when the car is in motion and this door ajar light is on. this light stays on about 90% of the time, opening and closing door over and over on occasion will turn it off.

The drivers side door latch does not catch. this causes the "drivers door ajar" warning. this also causes the lights to no turn off when the car is parked and turned off. this resulting the battery being drained. when battery is drained the car won't start and can leave the driver stranded.

Alarm just goes off when vehicle is parked and no one is around. it even goes off in garage.

I have a 2011 ford edge 2nd yr the door ajar light stays on which keeps all the interior lights on and draining the battery. i've had the sensor replaced once but it started again 6 months later. the dealer aside i need to replace them all at 400 dollars a door i've replaced the battery twice at 230 dollars each because the speedometer reads 60mph when the car is sitting still has to be fixed and the my key needs to be reprogrammed. it's a hazard at night because the dome lights stay on while trying to drive. and the dead battery has left me and my family stranded twice. .

The door ajar light stays on when the front passenger door is closed. it is very intermittent. the door is closed, but the door ajar warning light remains on. this is a problem when getting out of the vehicle because the dome lights and the lights under the outside of the mirrors remain on. the second issue is when you use the key fob to lock the car, it beeps twice saying the door is still open and will not lock. it is a safety issue because of the false sense that you have secured your vehicle, but cant because of a sensor problem. it come on as soon as you open the door to get in the vehicle to go somewhere. the problem is the door ajar sensor is built into the door latch itself and have read that the cost to replace with labor is just over $400 dollars. if this happens in the remaining 3 doors or the hatch that would end up costing over $2,000 dollars over the life of the vehicle. i have never paid that price for normal wear and tear on a vehicle.

Rear driver side door ajar light staying on. uncertain if door is shut or not. was first able to open and shut door several times and get it to turn off but now it is staying on causing my dome lights to stay on.

Door ajar lights stays on , draining the battery and it is also a safety issue

Driver door ajar light would come on even if the door was closed. i would attempt to close the door several times and it would not turn off the light. discover it was an issue with the door latch which houses the sensor/switch for the ajar light. interior lights would stay on while driving due to the vehicle thinking the door was open. my girlfriend has a 2008 ford edge and has the same issue with her vehicle. i purchased mine thinking ford addressed this issue. light has come on while driving and stationary.

I bought the 2001 edge used. after two days i noticed the passenger door open alarm came on and i could not remove it. bad sensors. now, both the passenger and driver door alarms stay on. and, it will not allow me to lock my doors, so when i drive the doors are unlocked. my grand daughter opened a back door at a stop light. in addition, due to the sensors, the dome light stays on and drains my battery. looking this up there are a lot of complaints about this issue. to test the issue while driving, my brother opened the door on the interstate doing 70 mph. when i try to lock the doors they reopen immediately. this is a dangerous situation. it happened 2/6/2017 and has remained this way.

Door ajar light; doors unlock in drive; doors unlock in park after pressing lock; safety issue with this vehicle because passengers may open door while in motion; people could enter from outside while car is parked or stopped while in transit. problem has been ongoing since at least january 2014

Door ajar light stays on even when door is closed. you are left unsure if the door is closed properly. it drains the battery over time as it leaves the lights on inside. my 16 year old will be driving soon and this is a safety issue that needs to be fixed by ford. this is not an issue that is caused due to wear and tear. *tr

My passenger door ajar light/alarm comes on randomly while driving down the road, and sometimes it happens after someone gets in and shuts the door. this weekend it happened while i was driving at night during terrible rain...causing the interior lights to come on and nearly blind the driver(me). it doesn't seem to know when the door is open/closed. this also keeps the car from locking correctly...it automatically unlocks because it thinks the door is open. last- the light will remain on when you exit the vehicle which ends up killing the battery. you might think it is ok- but it just decides to trigger the door ajar sensor and lights are on. this has happened in middle of the night, after i thought it was locked up and secure for the night. it also makes me wonder if the door latch is not working and the passenger may be at risk of falling out of the car. ford wants 450.00 to fix a safety problem that is widely complained about and should be remedied without cost to consumer. *tr

Drivers door lock stays open when door is closed, door ajar warning light stays on all the time i'm driving, dome lights stay on when i start driving and finally go off, dome lights and parking lights are on for an extended period after i have parked the car. i feel this is a safety issue because when i start driving all the lights in the car are on and i can't tell if on going traffic is coming or not at night, very dangerous for anyone going through this problem.

Door ajar light stays on when the door is completely closed/latched. that does not allow to lock the doors automatically (after the speed is more than 5 mph) or even manually since they unlock immediately. that is a safety concern. also, the interior lights stay on until you drive, blinding you and this can be a safety issue at night.

The door ajar light comes on even though all doors or closed. the problem is that interior lights stay on and doors will not lock even when the car is off. this drains and kills the battery. ford states no recalls. after researching on internet, this has been happening with ford models for years with no fixes.
