2006 dodge ram 2500, turn signal fault, turn on left directional, and right directional comes on very dangerous....... *tr
Pt sd from all the information just barely put 50 00 miles on each year
I have a 2006 dodge ram 2500 and have experienced a problem with my turn signals not working correctly and sometimes not working at all. i was turning left the other day and looked down to see that my right signal was flashing. of course my warranty just ran out so i'm sure the dealer will not cover this. my concern is that this is a safety issue and should be a recall on it. i am part of a dodge forum and of guys on there have the same problem. thought writing in may help with this issue cause the people who is in charge of this may not be aware of this safety issue. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the instrument panel and gauges failed. in addition, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and an independent mechanic. both the dealer and an independent mechanic stated that the power distribution center needed to be repaired. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred on two separate occasions. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 217,000. the vin was not available.
Ignition key will fall out at times while vehicle is running. able to remove key at any time. dealer said it was not covered by warranty at the time. even with nothing on the key ring but the key, it can easily come out while the vehicle is running. it can also at times turn off with ease. *tr
I was driving down the hwy in pouring rain when the wipers started acting erratically going from real fast then slow then stopped leaving the wiper arm right in front of my eye level . they never came back on. luckily i avoided an accident. i have tried new wiper motor did nothing later ordered a multifunction switch that didn't work either. now im told that 2006 dodge ram 2500 has a tipm in place of the fuse this is called a total integrated power module. i searched the turbo diesel registry and there are others that have had the same experience. the truck has 58,000 miles and is garage kept i consider excellent condition. chrysler will not provide any help. i now have a $1,000 plus repair bill and a truck that i cannot drive. also i have read on here of other electrical problems so how can i trust that this part wont do the same thing. *tr
Upon connecting a trailer with a wiring fault to the 2006 dodge ram diesel 4x2 , the tipm on the truck cuts off the circuit. testing indicates a minor fault with the trailer wiring, which allows trailer lights to operate on non-dodge vehicles. according to the local dodge dealer the tipm has failed and must be replaced. the dodge ram does not have a fuse for trailer turn signal circuits nor any other means to allow for the consumer to address wiring faults on trailers, regardless the dodge ram is designed to allow towing. this presents a considerable safety risk as the consumer has zero means to address faults with the dodge tpim after normal business hours or in areas without a dodge dealer. the high cost of the tpim also discourages the average consumer from maintaining proper and safe operation of the vehicle upon a simple trailer fault. a simple inexpensive fuse as on pre-2005 dodge ram vehicles for trailer circuits will greatly improve safety as the consumer can address issues with the dodge ram from induced by simple trailer wiring faults. i have contacted the dodge dealer and chrysler llc about the issue and neither provides information that there is a fix to the tipm that enables the consumer to address the safety issue induced by replacing the module with a new one. dodge nor chrysler llc provided any instructions or documentation on how to advert tipm failures and safety issue resulting from their product not sending power to trailer lights. further tipm documentation here http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2006/08-021-06.htm i strongly urge the ntsb to make the dodge safe by making them reinstate use of simple affordable fuses to protect trailer circuits on the vehicle, enable greater safety when towing and addressing trailer tow faults when access to a dodge dealer is not possible. *tr
The turn signals are indicating the opposite of what i'm selecting. if i select a left turn the instrument panel shows a right turn, when exiting the vehicle the same is indicated on the front and rear signal indicators. if i select a right turn i don't have any indicator on the instrument panel or on the exterior lights. *tr
2006 dodge ram 2500. multifunction switch fails when needed the most. this item controls the wipers, turn signals, high/low beams, as well as emergency flashers. this was an intermittent problem when i first reported it to the dealership, and surprise surprise it didn't fail at the dealership. now after my standard warranty has expired it has completely failed. there was no events leading up to the failure. the dealerships are now saying that this is a common issue, but since the warranty has expired, i now have to pay for parts as well as labor for an item that causes a major safety issue. imagine driving in a down poor, and the switch that controls your wipers fails to perform. *tr
Multifunction switch in dodge ram 2500 defective. blinkers when activated blink for the wrong direction, or not at all. sometimes when they do activate they wont turn off. hazard lights are also affected. could cause an accident because from in the cab the blinker will show left turn but the right turn blinker will be blinking and vice versa. or blinkers may show to be activated but are actually not. wipers may start or stop with no warning. the blinker issue will cause an accident eventually, it probably already has. wiper function is intermittent or no at all, problem occurs without any sort of warning. *tr
I purchased my 2006 dodge 2500 4x4 brand new in 2006. my truck is in great condition except for two major concerns..my a/c went out in dec. 2010 it was replaced with another defective one which was immediately replaced again. dealer did not replace the flapper under dash. i took truck in nov. 2011 the windshield would get extremely foggy and a noise would come from under dash when i put a/c on high, dealer said it was the flap that would control where the air is directed. they wanted 800.00 to replace a 34.00 part. i told them that should have been fixed when they replaced a/c. dealer said it still would not be covered under warranty anyway. this is a serious issue when fog gets on windshield why does someone have to die before a part is recalled. i have to open my windows to defrost my windshield. the other issue is when truck is supposedly in park and you open the door the horn honks, dash lights turn on and off and twice it has jumped into reverse on it's own. the first time i was at the post office putting mail outside i was a bit to far from box so i put it in park, opened door jumped off and truck jumped into reverse luckily i'm a small person and was able to jump in and step brake. this has happened about three times. the park does not engage properly because at heb i put it in park turn off truck went in store came back to turn on truck. it wouldn't start and it was in park. i had to put it in neutral to start it. another customer came to see what was wrong i tried to put it in park again and it wouldn't go after about to more attempts it went into park i took it to dealer and they could not duplicate problem so nothing was done. i have reported it here so if something happens at least it was reported, if dodge doesn't do anything they will if more people see that others are having the same problem. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500. after the vehicle had been parked for approximately four days, the contact discovered that the front window was darker than normal. he immediately opened the front door and discovered that the dashboard was burned on the passenger side. the vehicle was towed to a collision center. the current and failure mileages were 40,000.
The right turn signal switch was turned on to the right and after the turn it would not shut off. i was able to get it to shut off by switching on the emergency flashers. throughout the next few days this occurred muliple times and each time the blinkers would not shut off. i was finally able to get the blinkers to shut off by changing the angle of the adjustable steering column.
When i turn on the left blinker the right and left blinker come on at the same time, or the left won't come on and just the right. something wrong with the multifunction switch on the 2006 dodges. very unsafe - other drivers have no idea which lane your changing over to. *tr
Random electrical problems. *tt
2006 dodge ram slipped into reverse, horn honking due to safety recall. which didn't work. result bent bumper shared kids. *tr
Tipm issue when left turn signal is activated no response to wiring harness. which also would not activate trailer brake light due to no input from left signal. i think this is a problem when other drivers can't see brake lights all due to a bad tipm. was told the dealer will replace for $700. my opinion with so many 06 dodge 3500 with same problem this should be recalled. talked to other owners who have been to dealer and there is a wait for back order due to many others having same problem. *tr
These trucks have been sold with faulty electrical systems that dodge has not been able to correct with out costing the owners thousands of dollars. the tpim module constantly needs to be reflashed and replaced to keep your trucks electrical system working. they have designed this system so that the consumer cannot repair or even inspect the system which i believe is a violation of federal law. all of these vehicles have issues with the module and dodge has made millions of dollars because of their faulty part. this module affects lights, wipers, a/c, cranking system etc... this needs to be looked at carefully and dodge should be held liable to repair this problem. *tr
Issue: low beam headlight bulbs quit working, after several replacements, installing new bulbs (lamps) does not repair the issue. the vehicle currently has no low beam headlights, the vehicle only has high beam headlights. not drivable at night. tipm (totally integrated power module) is at fault according to dodge technician. the left (drivers side) low beam headlight went out in 2007, i replaced the headlamp bulb. ok. the right (passenger side) low beam headlight went out in early 2008. i replaced the headlamp bulb. ok. in 2012 ,both low beam headlights went out. i replaced both lamps.ok. in 2013, the right (passengers side) low beam headlamp went out. i replaced the right (passengers side) low beam lamp, but the light still does not work. i took to shop, and they attempted to repair, but could not locate issue. they said, no fuses to replace, it has a tipm module that controls the lighting. in 2014, the left (drivers side) low beam headlight went out. i replaced the headlamp bulb. still no lights. in 2014, i called the dodge dealer, spoke with service. the technician told me that this is a recurring problem with the 2006 dodge ram headlights, that it is probably the tipm (totally integrated power module) that needs replaced. the quoted cost of the tipm was approximately $800 and the labor about $150. summary: march 2015. the 2006 dodge ram is not operational except during daylight hours. it only has operational high beam headlights, no low beam headlights. all new bulbs. i cannot afford a repair bill of almost $1,000 to get a $20 headlight to operate by replacing the tipm . dodge needs to address this issue in my opinion. the issue just gets worse with time, and then, replacing the light bulbs does not help. *tr
2006 dodge ram truck with a long list of problems**cc the consumer experienced numerous problems with the vehicle such as ignition switch malfunctions, the ignition would not lock, shift lever, exhaust smokes excessively, the engine shutters and shutdown, transmission shifting improperly primarily in 2nd and 3rd gear, there were times when the consumer could not get the vehicle out of park. the head lights and tail lights come on and go off, the electric locks malfunctioned, various problems with the cab lights, the instrument cluster failed. *jb
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500. the contact was driving approximately 25 mph attempting to make a turn. when the turn signal switch was activated to the desired selection, the opposite signal became functional. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. the turn signal switch was replaced. there was a technical service bulletin regarding the related defect for the 2006 dodge ram 3500 model. the contact stated the manufacturer should issue an extended warranty or a recall for the malfunction. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 54,000.
During the first year of ownership an intermittent malfunction of hazard flashers and turn signals began . on occasion, the hazard flashers and the turn signals will not flash. at times, the turn signals will not cancel. at times, left and right will flash when only one direction is selected. finally, on occasion, the right or left will flash when the opposite is selected. this creates a hazardous situation when i'm executing a turn as other drivers do not know my intentions and i've angered some and had two near miss accidents. i've not had need for my 4-way flashers, but when i test them at the time of the signal malfunction, they do not function. this can be extremely hazardous in an emergency road side event. when the problem first occurred under warranty, i took the truck to the dealer and they re-programmed the ecm. this eliminated the problem for the remainder of the warranty. subsequently, it has gradually returned. i am not alone with this issue. please visit the following link: http://vlane.com/discuss-topic/1336/2006-dodge-ram-turn-signal-problem. *tr
2006 dodge 2500. when turning on the left turn signal, both indicators on the dash will flicker and the right indicator on the vehicle will actually be working instead of the left. this happens on a regular basis when driving this vehicle. it is now that i do not utilize turn signals for fear that vehicles will mis interpret intentions and cause vehicle accident. went to dealer and they are aware of issue recommending turn switch. *tr
This is an on going issue with my 2006 dodge ram 2500 . when driving at night sometimes when you switch the headlight from low beam to high beam they will completely go out or one side will go out. also sometimes when you turn on your left blinker your right blinker will come on. the dealer told me that this was from hauling trailers with bad wiring. i don't understand how a trailer that is not connected to my truck can effect the lights. my truck is no longer under warranty and there is no way for me to diagnose this problem. (you must have a chrysler computer to see what the controller is doing) i thought there were laws to protect consumers from manufacturers of cars that prevented them from making control systems that consumers could not access. *tr
2006 dodge ram 2500 turn signals don't work part time and part time turn on the wrong signal like turn on left and it turns on the right, also the wipers won't turn on some times and then won't turn on past slow wipe, when you turn on the brights it turns on the washer and wipers, i understand this is the same switch, the multifunction switch, dodge has redesigned it now twice according to a dealer but has not recalled it and charges high dollars to fix it up to $700.00 this is a safety issue and should have been recalled years ago what is the hang up for the recall? *tr
