Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

While driving, the headlights will go off by themselves. *tr

Low beam headlights went out while driving came back on and went out again turn signals operate backwards turn on the left and the right comes on. dealership says it is the tipm and it is a common problem, seems that it is an extreme safety issue to me that effects a lot of dodge vehicles. *tr

Wrong direction of turn signal comes on when activating the switch. *tr

While towing trailer back left blinker and back left brake lights failed to work. then back left blinker on truck stopped working. . problem is in the vehicles computer, dealer only item that cost $712. some thing called "tipm". just type in blinker problem for dodge ram on google and watch and see how many other people are having this hudge saftey problem. please look into this problem, peoples lives are at on the line!!! thank you *tr

The turn signal switch the opposite of what has been selected on the steering column. if the left turn is selected the right turn lights come on and indicate you are making a right turn. the high beam switch does not always work. the wipers are not reliable either. *tr

got a letter from chrysler that i was supposed to get my turn signals fixed if i had this problem i did have the problem but it doesn't happen all the time, took the truck to dealer and they told me that they will not fix this turn signal problem if it isn't happening when they test it at dealer it is an intermittent problem and does not happen all the time but i believe that this is a major safety issue because if i am signaling one way and my truck is showing a different way that could possibly cause a crash or cause me to get a ticket. i believe this should be a recall and not just be fixed if the dealer can see it for them selves and was told by the dealer and chrysler customer assistance that they will do nothing if they don't see this problem at dealer but i could be any where and if it happens im supposed to stop what im doing and take truck over to them and hope it is still doing it when i get there other wise o well. that's pretty much what i get from them. *tr

When driving in rain at a safe speed, wipers would not come on, and then the wipers would start and stop working. when i switched on a turn blinker, both blinkers began to flash. our local dodge dealership says there on back order 4,000 of this part required to fix this problem. there have been complaints about this since 2009. does it take a loss of life for a recall to take place? *kb

I own a 2006 dodge ram 2500 megacab with 5.9 diesel engine. the agency has received three reports of improper turn signal function. the complainants report that moving the turn signal stalk to signal a left turn can result in no flashing of the left turn signal but improper flashing of the right turn signal. likewise the same opposite improper operation occurs when moving the turn signal stalk to signal a right turn. the incorrect flashing signal appears at both the dashboard indicator light and at the exterior front and rear turn signal lighting positions. there are many complaints related to this issue on the web and it is very dangerous. please advise. *kb

Dash lights stopped working. they had went out once before but came back on the next day. after another day they went back out and haven't worked since. *tr

Turn signal will either not work or show the wrong side flashing (have almost been rear-ended), wipers wouldn't work properly or at all (go very slow or not move at all when on, causing me not being able to see when it's raining hard). flashers won't turn on at all. happens every time i need my flashers, wipers, and blinkers. replaced the multi-function switch and all of the problems above are fixed. i still have the old switch and i have heard it's a common problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns 2006 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the turn signal was defective and would illuminate sporadically without being activated. the dealer was notified of the failure and diagnosed that the multifunction switch needed repairs. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 57,500 and the current mileage was 60,000.

I own a 2006 dodge ram 2500 truck with approximately 57000 miles on it and it started acting erratically with the lights and wipers and now the battery completely goes dead. we have replaced the battery and checked for drain on the battery. in spite of turning everything off and unplugging anything which would cause a drain on the electrical system it still made a new battery go dead. it is very dangerous to drive it when the wipers act so funny and the dimmer switch fails to lower the beams. it would seem that the only solution is to take it to the dealer at a considerable expense to see what is wrong. the manufacturer should investigate and repair any defect in materials for the truck with that few miles on it. *tr

I was half way to my destination driving on a busy highway at 75mph pulling both my horses and my three horse trailer in a rain storm when the wipers sporadically stopped working. on the high setting they went to low, then stopped, then started again going fast, then completely quit posing a serious hazard to myself, my animals, and all around me on the highway. i was able to move over onto the shoulder and wait it out a while until i could attempt to complete my trip. with so many complaints i don't understand why this hasn't been recalled. i have replaced the wiper motor which only made the wipers move very slowly. there is still a problem, likely quite expensive, which will need to be fixed. my truck is driven very sparingly and had only 75000 miles at the time of wiper failure. *kb

The turn signal light will sometimes not work or work by itself, the wind shield wipers will some times not work, the truck has 200,000 miles on it the problem at this stage has not be corrected. *tr

2500 2006 dodge truck, multifunction switch controls wiper function will stop working during rainstorms while driving, resulting in a dangerous safety hazard, dodge needs to have a recall now! i have had 2 near misses! *tt

Tpim failure causing loss of trailer brake controller lights and trailer lights stay on after key is turned off. there hasn't been an accident as of 4/12/11. *tr

Trying to merg onto a highway in the rain my vehicles blinkers, light adjustment, and windshield wipers would not activate. this event didn't result in an accident but is a dangerous result of a poorly designed multi-function switch that controls blinkers and windsheild wipers. this problem has occured previously but not to the extent for myself or other to come into harm as it did today. *tr

Air bag light came on after owning the vehicle for 2.5 years. the warranty don't cover the cost of replacing the module. *tr

Tl. the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated the tipm has malfunctioned causing every electrical component not to work. the contact took the vehicle to a dealer and the dealer stated the tipm needs to be replaced. the contact has not had the tipm replaced. the dealer does not know what caused the tipm to malfunction. the contact stated there is know way of telling if the new tipm will not malfunction while driving. the contact stated there are numerous complaints regarding the tipm and a recall should be issued. the failure mileage was 185,000. jo

The left turn signal activates the opposite or both left and right turn signals. *tr

2006 dodge 2500 / turn signal problems. *tr

Turn signal intermittently fails or signals the opposite direction.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the turn signals would provide erroneous warning indications. the air conditioner was also inoperable. the contact inspected the vehicle himself and located the failure at the power control module. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage 150,000.

Turn signal malfunction, activate the left signal and the right turns on. activate the right signal and nothing happens. sometimes when the left is activated both signals work like hazard flashers. *tr

Turn signals do not work properly. when you put on your left turn signal it will light up as a right turn signal often and same when you put on your right turn signal the left will light up. most of the time however my turn signals will not even come on. this has almost caused several accidents its really bad when i am pulling trailers. in rain storms and snow storms my windshield wipers will occasionally just stop and only have 1 speed which is slow.... i have had to pull over alot and just wait for my windshield wipers to work again. *tr

this has accured several times, while using turn signals.while driving i turn on the left signal and the right one seems to come on and then at times they will just all blink on and off. then at other times while using the turn signals. the lights go fast then goes out. i feel this is a important and major saftey feature of this vehicle/ truck. i went and ask the local dodge dealer service advisor about this problem. the advisor said he never heard of it. and further that warranty was out at 36000 miles. i was in the belief . that safety items on new vehicles were covered for 5 years 100000 miles... this problem will cause a accident. the ? is when...please recall this problem before someone gets hurt while turning due to the from a faulty turn signal that hes been found on the 2006 dodge ram pick up.

When turn signal is used, vehicle signals in the opposite direction. this is the second time this has happened. last time multifunction switch was replaced and there was no issue until now. previous multifunction switch was replaced approx 1 year ago.

I have a 2006 dodge megacab 2500 i recently purchased. the turn signal multiswitch has a malfunction which seems to be a common problem. when i turn my left blinker on, the right signal will also blink and vice versa. the is a safety issue that can cause an accident. *tr

I have 2006 dodge ram 2500 trx4, i started having problems with my rt rear turn signal approx 2 months ago. thought it was bulb, wasn't! i took truck to local auto electric shop, was told on dec 14th, 2010 that the problem was the entire fuse block that controls the turn signals. he called dodge dealer and was told that the part would run over $700 and that there were 200 already on back-order! now, jan 3rd, 2011 when i push on brake the rt rear light flickers/flashes as if the turn signal is working. i don't believe that $700 plus labor is acceptable from dodge, and even if i ordered the part they can't tell me when it would deliver due to large back log on them. it seems to me that there is a major issue and i think that there should be a recall issued by dodge. *tr

Normal driving, no rain, daylight hours. outside temp. was approx. 85 deg f. when attempting to activate left turn signal for a lane change, the signal would not activate, when i attempted to activate it again, the right signal activated. during the duration of my trip i was able to replicate this problem numerous times, affecting both sides. i was able to duplicate this issue with the vehicle both at rest and stationary, with the engine running. i have not fixed this issue at this time, but plan to replace the multifunction switch. *tr

I was changing lanes on the interstate in minneapolis mn in heavy traffic and when i activated the left turn signal, the right turn signal flashed. i did catch it and didn't switch lanes. obviously a safety concern. the problem has been coming and going for two days now and i plan to bring it to a dealer this weekend. when this does happen i can activate the four way flashers and the left turn signal does work. i don't know what the problem is but hopefully there is a fix for it. *tr

2006 dodge ram 2500 cummins diesel-failed left turn signal/brake light on factory installed trailer plug. my parents purchased this truck new in 2007 that happened to have the trailer package included. i recently tried to hook up a trailer to my parents truck. i noticed the left turn signal and stop light on the trailer did not work. i went through the trailer and found all wiring to function correctly. i tested the factory installed trailer plug on the truck bumper and found the metal pin that sends the signal to the left signal/brake light of the trailer non-functioning. i tested the wire under the truck and found the same wire that attaches to the trailer plug had no electrical current. i checked the fuse box and all fuses were functioning. i checked the internet and found many people with the same complaint. the common cause for the problem listed was the fuse box(aka tipm). there isn't a separate fuse for the trailer signal for a issues like a short. the whole circuit for the left light is closed by the software. instead of just replacing a fuse the whole fuse box needs to be replaced. the average cost is $1,000 to fix. i called the dealer and he said the usual service line, "just bring it in and for $99 we'll diagnose it for you. i called the dodge customer service line and they said they would get back to me and it's been 3 days. i emailed dodge customer service and they said the same as the dealer did. i replied asking if dodge was going to help pay for the problem. i also asked if there was someone else of higher authority to communicate with. they replied okay and that it's been passed on. this is a big safety hazard for my family and the public. if i can't see a driver behind me or them can't see me and an accident occurs, who's going to pay for it and can you really put a price of the safety of your loved ones? updated ivoq 12/01/10 *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500. the contact was driving in rainy weather when he discovered that the windshield wipers were inoperable. when the high beams were activated, the windshield wipers would engage. in addition, when activating the right turn signal, the left indicator light would flash instead. the contact stated that he was almost involved in a crash because of the failure. the manufacturer offered no assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 107,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500 megacab 4x4. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was unable to restart the vehicle and it was towed to an authorized dealer. the dealer advised that the ecm module and tipm failed. the dealer advised that the ecm would be replaced under factory warranty however the tipm would be repaired at the contacts expense. the manufacturer confirmed the information given to her by the dealer. the failure mileage was 80,000. updated 12/10/10 *bf updated 12/27/10

I own a 2006 dodge ram 2500 mega cab. just last week my blinkers started going crazy. i will signal the left blinker and it will signal right and visa versa. this problem happens daily and happens so frequent that i am afraid to drive my truck anywhere. i have not replaced the switch yet. in doing research, it says you must pull the steering wheel to fix the problem. i just thought a wire might be grounding out. i then started to do some research and many many other people are having this issue on their trucks of the same year. i do hope you consider this a recall as it to be a very intense safety issue and i do believe dodge should fix the problem. doing research on the problem it does cost a significant amount. if i have to fix a safety issue that is ongoing with a vehicle and dodge knows about it, it is time for the government to step in and make this corporation fix the safety problem. if they know about the problem and don't fix it, i am sure a lawyer could be contacted to let everyone know about the problem including the ones who won't fix it. *tr

I have a 2006 dodge mega cab 2500 4x4 slt with ~53k miles on it. about 1 month ago i started to experience issues with using my left turn signal. during light momentary and full left turn signal actuation, my right turn signal would come on and the left turn signal would not come on. the occurrences happen at random times and for random durations of time. i usually fiddle with the turn signal lever to get the left signal to work after i notice the incorrect flashing of the right turn signal. this surely has raised my chances of being involved in an accident as other drivers interpret this to mean i have change my intent to turn or am confused or possibly impaired. this is an ongoing problem and i will repair this at my own cost to avoid putting myself in danger. i have read numerous reports of this or very similar failures occurring in the dodge truck line. please make this a safety recall in order to address this serious issue. *tr

2006 dodge ram 2500 laramie. turn signals operate sporadically. moving the turn signal stalk to signal a left turn can result in no flashing of the left turn signal but improper flashing of the right turn signal. likewise the same opposite improper operation occurs when moving the turn signal stalk to signal a right turn. the incorrect flashing signal appears at both the dashboard indicator light and at the exterior front and rear turn signal lighting positions. *tr

Wipers fail to turn on or get stuck on intermediate, turn signals work on the opposite side that you place them, when you put the right turn signal on the left works. sometime you can't switch the headlight from bright to dim or vice versa.

Dodge has a bad tipm, when a headlight goes out the tipm gets an over voltage signal and shuts the light down so if you replace the light it still wont work, you have to take it to the dealer and get it reprogrammed and you can only do that twice and have to get a new one that cost $1000. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the turn signals and the windshield wipers stopped working on the vehicle. the hazard lights functioned intermittently. the contact did not have the vehicle inspected. the failure had become progressively worse over time until the past three months when they stopped working completely. the failure mileage was 52000. the current mileage was 60000.

First incident my tipm module was replaced due to electrical problems in april 2010, the next incident was on 4/22/12, my brake lights quit working while i was out of town, during this trip i was traveling home, i turned on my cruise control while driving, i hit the brakes and cruise control would not cut off, i finally had to put the truck in neutral and the engine kept revving higher. i was eventually able to get it to turn off . i made it home the next day i took it to a dealership and they are telling me the tipm module has to be replaced again. this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed, if my wife or son would have been driving my truck ,i don't think they would've been able to control this situation, this is going to be the second time this module has been replaced, the first time was 743.00 now it is 1060.00 to replace. i have also read online of several incidences of this happening to other 2006 dodge ram owners. after several attempt to talk with some one at dodge concerning this ,i decided to contact this site for this safety issue. *tr

Use of left turn signal results in right turn blinker unless steering wheel is moved. *tr

In 2010 driving to gator nat drag race the wipers just stop then it happen about everytime i used them now and the ac has stop working 863 00 for a new one in june of 2006 and then 600 00 dollars more in sept and they say it the tipm 860 00 dollars more the wipers still don't work right 170000 miles and no ones wants to help the truck just sit to hot to drive in fl with grand kids and no ac i will not but a dodge ever. *tr

Multifunction switch controlling the turn signals on my 2006 dodge 2500 megacab went bad. it turns on the incorrect signal, or both signals then trying to use the turn signals. from searching the internet, this is a very common problem. *tr

2006 dodge ram 2500 windshield wipers stopped working in a rain storm on the freeway. took to dealer and they replaced the tipm. 1 week later my horn didn't work dodge said it was a faulty tipm. i fear the tipm has failed again since i am having power issues with my lights and radio again.

When i first bought the pickup i have had electrical issues. a little over a week ago i was driving down the freeway and my wipers quit. it was pouring down rain and i could not see. i took it to the dealer and my tipm is out. my mileage was 36,174 at the time of the failure. *tr

2006 dodge 2500 turn signal issues. malfunctioning turn signals turn left signal on,and right signal comes on and vise versa and sometimes neither will come on. *tr

I have a 2006 dodge mega cab that i have had since new. i had to have the multifunction switch replaced at 40,000 miles almost two years ago, now after driving it almost another 20,000 miles it is doing the same thing. is there a recall on this part or do i have any recourse to get this replaced again? this is very dangerous as you never know when it is going to happen. the blinkers will flash the wrong way and the wipers might work or they might not or they may come on when the blinkers are on. this is very distracting when you are in a lot of traffic. please help. thank you. *tr

Since august of 2009, i have had problems with my turn signals not working correctly at all times. issue: when i turn the right turn signal on the left signal comes on. when i turn the right signal on the left comes on. occasionally, they do not work at all. *tr

The turn signal (multi-function) switch in my 2006 dodge 2500 is malfunctioning. when i turn on my left turn signal the right turn signal will flash and sometimes the left as well. the same thing happens when i put on my right turn signal, the left turn signal will flash. i have had two very close calls with this, the most recent while pulling a 34 foot fifth wheel trailer. i have seen numerous complaints about this on the diesel truck resource web page and some of the stories are of very serious close calls. this needs to be a recall. *tr
