Recall n62/h46 i received a recall notice in the mail about left tie rod replacement/ inspection. chrysler has known about this recall since nov 6th/2013. i called cherry creak dodge- aurora co on jan 3rd/ was told to call back on the 6th. called back jan 6th they had no info was told they would call me back in 30 min.. never received a call back. i called again talked to diff person / was told they had no parts to fix problem and they would not be receiving any until end of january/ this is unacceptable, knowing that if this part breaks it could cause major (crash or death without warning ) their words . god help chrysler.. if this should happen to anyone. this is my daily vehicle, i drive a min 65 miles per day to and from work. now the mental uncertainty every day for another month. will this part break ? / chrysler should have priority parts sent to all dealers to fix this problem before they tell people to call any dealer/ then this fix needs to be done asap...not this half ass effort with those that are employed by dealerships not having a clue as to what is going on ..bad bad bad !! *tr
It has been over 10 months since i tried to get my vehicle fixed for an extremely dangerous recall where the left tie rod ball stud on my truck may fracture under certain driving conditions. this could cause loss of directional control and/or crash without warning. i do not know who to contact anymore however someone needs to be held accountable for the lack of responsibility that chrysler is taking. as said before i tried to get this fixed since january of 2014. *tr

I was driving home one evening and my truck started swaying on the highway and i exited immediately and almost ran into the wall. it somehow straightened out and i limped it to a parking lot which luckily was right there. i saw that my left tie rod had broke off. i called a tow truck and had it taken to a shop. i sent the proper documentation to chrysler customer assistance and after 3+/- weeks i called and talked to them and they said that i will not get reimbursed! they tried to say that it wasn't a dodge part that was put on. i explained that it was a moog part that was put on after mine broke. and i tried several times to explain to them that it was a dodge part that broke. i kept the original tie rod end that broke and have pics of the incident. no matter what i said it didn't matter and i tried to speak to a supervisor and that didn't happen and i still have yet to receive a call back or anything whatsoever. i'm very upset about this especially since they basically told me to bad. not sure if the conversations are recorded but i hope they are. needing some assistance on this matter asap please. my recall was n62/nhtsa 13v-528. *tr

I was on my way to see my doctor in waltham ,ma. and i travel the ma.turnpike at 67mph, and every bridge span or bump in the road surface the truck started to shake uncontrollably until i went to the brake down lane and brought the truck to a dead stop. in the 166 miles from my home to the doctor office and back home again i had to stop this truck 15 times. when i brought it to the dealership i had to pay $1,699.31for the damage that was cause by a defective part that no one want to replace under what should be a recall. chrysler says that because of the year and mileage of the vehicle that it was my problem even though they have redesigned the part that cause this problem in the first place. and even after i pay the first repair bill the truck still had the same problem until the mechanic tighten the bolts on the part. the truck is still handling the same as before it was fix. and because i have had major surgery i will have to travel that road many times before i,m healed. because i'm on workman comp. i have limited funds to live on and i really worry when i drive that truck as i can't afford another vehicle and chrysler want to do nothing about it until someone is hurt or dead. *tr
Approximately 110 miles into a 200 mile trip. i drove over an interstate bridge exp. joint, when my truck started to shake uncontrollably , i hit the brakes and came to a stop at the far end. after gathering my sanity, got out to inspect what might have failed, but visually could find nothing. i returned to the vehicle and carefully proceeded up the road,to find that the "problem" had ceased. 40 mins later i encountered a similar experience. in both cases, i was thankful there was no other cars behind me. after returning home , i went to the dodge dealership, where they told me that it was likely a steering stabilizer at fault. i had them do the repair, all the while talking to service about the danger of the situations i had been faced with, and in awe that there were no recalls addressing this issue, seemingly the issue was fixed. three months later a received a recall for the tie rods in this vehicle, that could fail and result in the situation i had previously. after 10 and a half months of being told there were no parts available to do complete the recall repair, they finally came in and the repair was made. three weeks after the repair was made , i was traveling the interstate (approx. 11-29-14) i was faced with the exact same uncontrollable violent wobble, that brought me to a stop in the middle of an interstate bridge, where i was narrowly missed by an 18 wheeler in my rear view mirror. these pants wetting, skin of my teeth, near death experiences have forced me to file this complaint. unfortunately my current finances won't allow me to part with this death trap. i've been to the dealership once again and have been told that the drag link and pitman arm are now the cause of the problem. i'm finding it hard to believe that anyone really knows how to remedy this defect, and they are drawing straws to pick the cure of the week. *tr

On 3/21/12, i had my truck inspected by a dodge dealership after getting a recall notice in the mail. it was safety recall l16 left tie rod. the dealership replaced the faulty part with a new part to remedy the recall. it was part # cbrcl160-aa. on 9/9/13, while backing up in a parking lot, the same mentioned "new" part fractured rendering my truck unable to be steered. i am concerned that the replacement part fractured just like the recall said the original part was susceptible to doing. the recall says, "the problem is...the left tie rod ball stud on your truck may fracture under certain driving conditions. this could cause a loss of directional control and/or a crash without warning." this is alarming to me as it potentially put me, my passengers, and other drivers at risk of injury or death had this happened while driving down the highway or around town. after calling chrysler about this event, they offered me no confidence anything has been done about this occurrence or will be done. i feel my call to them was not taken seriously and the complaint i have with their part will go nowhere. this is a public safety threat in my opinion. *tr
2004 dodge ram. consumer writes in regards tie rods and steering malfunction. *smd the consumer stated he received a recall notice in february 2013. the dealer inspected the vehicle, and stated there was no issue. however, in june 2013, while driving, the vehicle started to shimmy extremely hard. he was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove to a repair shop. an inspection revealed the tie rods were so worn, the steering damper broke. *jb
Traveling on hwy at 55 mph when truck lost all power including power steering. no warning. steered to side of hwy and stopped. hwy was under construction and 50 more yards i would have been in middle of road because no shoulder with construction. truck restarted, and i continued on because in rural area. truck stopped again in middle of intersection in town about 2hrs later. dealer could not look at it until next day, so i had to drive home (40 mi) and hope i made it. brought it back next morning and told needed new lift pump and would keep it overnight. my dealer's service dept is great, and they gave me a ride home (40 mi). no option to install original pump of several hundred dollars. had to install one in the fuel tank with cost of $1000. several concerns. one, this seems to be an engineering defect since they now install the lift pump in the gas tank where it should have been all along. two, they are making a nice sum to replace it and put it in the tank. three, this is an urgent safety factor because when vehicle shuts down, there is no power steering. there are drop-offs with narrow shoulders (or no shoulder as in my case because of construction) along hwys in my area. i could very easily have gone over or down the side of one of our hills. four, vehicle can lose power in the middle of an intersection when making a turn in front of oncoming traffic (as it did in my case). five, there is no prior warning or way to check the potential of this happening. when this happened yesterday and i started researching, it was the first i had heard of it. my truck is serviced regularly by my dealer, and there is no test for this. it was a very scary situation on the hwy and in the middle of the intersection. the fact that i have had the truck for several yrs shows that eventually they will probably all fail and should be replaced before they do. *tr

My 2004 dodge ram 2500 exhibits the classic defective steering linkage issues common to dodge rams of this year and results in the "death wobble" when driving over a bump at highway speeds. it becomes nearly uncontrollable until i slow to below 30 mph. the dealership always claims that they either "cannot duplicate" the issue, or that they couldn't fix it if they could duplicate it anyway. i bought the dodge ram used in 2013 and have been having this issue ever since. i did not know that this was a common dodge ram problem, that has been ignored by chrysler, or i would not have purchased the truck.
I was driving my 2004 dodge 2500 4x4 diesel pickup at 40-45 mph. as i was going into a curve in the road, i drove over a rough part in the road and the steering wheel started shaking violently back and forth (left and right). it was very hard to control the vehicle, i nearly crashed into a car on one side of me and a bridge railing on the other side. i thought maybe one of the front wheels was coming off the axle or i had a blowout. i slowed down and finally got the vehicle under control. i took it to a diesel repair shop immediately after this happened and they found the steering stabilizer shock leaking, the outer tie rod at the drag link and inner tie rod had some play, and both upper ball joints had some play. they replaced the steering stabilizer shock, the right inner tie rod, and the right outer tie rod. these repairs came to close to $400. they mentioned the "death wobble" problem and suggested we might add additional aftermarket parts to the front suspension to prevent this from happening again. the shop could not do the work right then or i would have had it done. i do not feel safe driving this vehicle now; it took all my driving experience and strength to get control of the vehicle, i do not think a weaker or inexperienced driver could have kept the vehicle from crashing. after looking at all the evidence of this "death wobble" problem on the internet, i cannot believe that the problem has not been solved and the vehicles recalled. people could die and or be injured and probably already have. the accident would probably be blamed on driver error with broken parts blamed on the accident instead of on the broken parts causing the accident. *tr
While driving at 55mph and above, hit bump on highway and the front end started to shake violently. the truck almost went into the other lane. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500.the contact received a recall notification under nhtsa campaign id number 13v528000 (steering however, the part to do the repairs was unavailable. the manufacturer was made aware of the problem. the contact had not experienced a failure.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number: 11v350000 (steering:linkages:tie rod assembly) however, after speaking with the dealer she was informed that the parts for the repair would take anywhere from one week to one month before they would arrive. the contact stated that having to wait one month to have a recalled component repaired was unsatisfactory. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact had not experienced a failure. the current mileage was 115,000.
While driving on the highway at speeds of about 55 mph and hitting any small rut or change in the road the vehicle begins to shake like crazy . i have had it at the dealer for the recall and they said it was ok . i have had it at the local truck shop and they can't figure it out . everything looks to be tight . dodge needs to get these trucks recalled before someone dies . dodge knows there is a problem why in the world won they fix this . i asked the local dealer again about the death wobble and they said that they were not aware of any death wobble . are you kidding all you have to do is google death wobble and you will see all you need to know . if i would have known about this problem store i bought this truck i would have not bought it . i am now thinking of trading it in , and let it kill someone else . *tr
Dodge death wobble this really should be under recall before someone gets hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *tr
2004 dodge ram 2500. consumer writes n regards to tie rod ball stud recall notice and seeks reimbursement for repairs. *smd the consumer stated the vehicle was taken to the dealer for an inspection after receiving a recall, and the vehicle was found to be ok. however, the consumer previously paid extensive amounts of money for repairs for which she believed already fixed the issue being recalled. the consumer submitted receipts for the replacement of the left inner and outer tie rods. when the consumer first started having problems, the vehicle was taken to two different dealership, both of which could find nothing wrong, or determine a cause. after literally years of dealing with the violent shake and other problems including a point in which the vehicle was not drivable many repairs were made at a local repair hop. the consumer continued to experience the death wobble until she did some research online and found a part designed to cure the issue, since chrysler/dodge would acknowledge the problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving approximately 5-10 mph in the driveway, there was a loud grinding and popping noise outside of the vehicle. the contact inspected the vehicle and noticed the front driver's side tie rod end fractured. the vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. there was a recall related to the failure under nhtsa campaign id number 11v350000 (steering: linkages: tie rod assembly); however the vin was not included. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
The death wobble as drivers of these trucks call it. the fix in 2010 was only temporary for my 2004 dodge truck. it once again is going into the death wobble . dodge says the parts were only warranted for 12 months and won't fix it again. dodge apparently didn't use heavy enough parts and axles in the first place so does that mean i have to pay to have it fixed over and over and over. someone needs to make dodge continue to replace these parts . there are and will be many deaths over these trucks . it is no wonder the american vehicle manuf. are struggling. apparently the bulletin repair makes the truck safe for only 1 more year . this isn't a poor a.c or power lock problem it is related to loss of control while driving in normal everyday conditions which can result in loss of life. please make dodge do the right thing on this one and get to the root of the problem at their expense not mine. just how many complaints has dodge had concerning this. only they know. i will never buy another dodge chrysler product again. i called dodge & they acted as though they had never heard of this problem! *tr
Death wobble at different speeds and bumps i have replaced some parts and nothing has changed and the more i research this problem the more i learn there are many just like me with the same issue. *tr
Truck will go into "death wobble at or around 60 miles an hour, and wont stop until it reaches 30 to 35 mph. this is a recipe for disaster!!!! i urge anyone reading this to file formal complaints with any one who will listen!! im contacting my state rep. on this matter. just like the corvair, unsafe at any speed. *tr
I was driving down the highway at 70 mph when my truck went into what consumers are calling "the death wobble." the truck started shaking uncontrollably, making it hard to drive. it has continued to do it, and mechanics are having a difficult time finding out what is wrong. my wife and son were in the truck with me when it happened the first time, and i'm afraid for them to ride in the truck now because of it. i shouldn't have to fear driving my main source of transportation...especially when it's not a bad vehicle. i'm noticing numerous complaints regarding this issue. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while reversing at approximately 5 mph, a loud popping noise was heard and he lost control of the steering. upon examining the vehicle, the contact noticed that the steering linkage was detached from the steering box. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the steering linkage disconnected from the steering box. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 95,000.
Fracture of the pitman arn at the steering box/ had to replace entire steering box/ fracture was found while undergoing wheel aligment/ was only a matter of time before it would have failed. replace water pump/ 120000 replace rear universal joint for bad bearings/ 121,000 entire engine fan with pulley sheared off while on a trip/ 118000 replaced entire wiper mechanism due to complete failure/122000 poorly engineered vehicle/ wouldn't buy another dodge lots of safety issues. *tr
2004 dodge ram 2500- front end/steering failure at 71,000 requiring replacement of entire steering linkage kit, damper and traction bar (as well as pitman arm) at cost of over $1,200. this was to correct the exact same steering problem i am reading about as reported by seemingly countless owners of dodge rams from this year. it is inconceivable to me why there has not been a formal recall and reimbursement of expenses to owners like me who paid for the recommended repair. i am the original owner and have all service repair orders. the service department at ft. collins (co) dodge reported that they were well aware of this problem, as is chrysler and that it was a serious safety issue that needed to be corrected as a total loss of steering and collapse of the front end could result if it was not repaired.. parts have been replaced each of the last 3 years and failures continue with no solution from the manufacturer. *tr
Death shake has almost caused 4 accidents for me. i have been trying to get my truck fixed since 2005 dodge has yet to offer any help. any time i hit any small bump, pot hole, break in the road going over 50mph the truck enters a violent shake. i have to pull over to the side of the road and slow down to stop the shake. this is extremely dangerous in any type of traffic. the dodge dealerships have not offered any assistance other than telling me to spend thousands to replace parts that might not even fix the issue. *kb
I was driving the truck along hwy 5 in northern california in the fast lane when, going over a bridge, the front end started to violently shake. the steering wheel jerked out of my hand, i slowed down and had to pull over in front of another vehicle. truck continued to shimmy until i came to a stop. i got out and thought maybe i had blown a tire - anything - while stranded on the side of this major hwy with loaded semis lying by. i could not see anything wrong with the truck. got back in, it happened again some 50 miles later. i had the suspension checked and a part replaced. it happened again this spring 2014. i was told by the dealer that it was my tires. the tires were nearly new the first times this happened. i replaced the tires and am now told i have to replace other suspension parts that are damaged/worn at only 80k miles. i have had trucks, cars, etc, for decades that never had suspension issues like this even when they had over 130,000 miles. it angers me that everyone has problems with these diesel trucks and the dealers get away with poor suspensions. a week ago, i was on the freeway and saw this happen to a truck in front of me. i watched as the person attempted to slow down while trying to gain control of the truck and had to try to get across 3 lanes of heavy traffic to the side of the road. how many people have been killed by this? injured? i felt badly for them as i know exactly how that felt as they struggled to slow down and get over with semi trucks, cars, etc, fly by them. *tr
Oil seal on pitman shaft on steering box gave way suddenly spraying engine with oil and causing loss of power steering. upon inspection, it was noted that the bearing on the pitman shaft had failed. this must be a common problem as even the dealer couldn't find a steering box!!
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. while driving 20 mph, the contact stated that the steering wheel became difficult to move. the dealer nor manufacturer were notified. the failure was not diagnosed; however, the contact repaired the gear box. the current and failure mileage was 124,000.
I have a 2004 dodge ram 2500 4x4 5.7 at highway speed of 60 to 65 mph the truck goes into a "death wobble" from any bump in the road it is almost impossible to control my truck is all stock and only has 67,000 miles on it why does dodge not recall and fix this problem before it hurts or kills some one? *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the driver side front tie rod failed while driving. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the dealer replaced the tie rod and the steering linkage. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer denied reimbursement, stating that the recall under nhtsa campaign id number 11v350000 (steering: linkages: tie rod assembly) was only for aftermarket tie rods however, the tie rod on the contact's vehicle was the original manufacturer's part. the failure mileage was was 74,000 and the current mileage was not available.
When the vehicle was approx 4yrs old it began the death wobble while on the highway. for the next two years, it seemed to occur only while towing a horse trailer . the vehicle would hit an uneven area, especially on overpasses, and the entire front end of the truck would bounce from side to side becoming unstearable. stopping on the side of the road was the only way to stop the bouncing. as time went on the wobble occured more frequently and then without towing a trailer. i have replaced the bushings in the track bar with no appreciable improvement. i am now looking into steering stablilizers and heavy duty track bars. this is definitely a manufacturers defect. dodge should be paying for this fix regardless of age of vehicle. *tr
Service bulletin 22-005-06 concerning front end shimmy or the death wobble as drivers of these trucks call it. the fix in 2006 was only temporary for my 2004 dodge truck. it once again is going into the death wobble after going over railroad tracks or any bump in the road. dodge says the parts were only warranted for 12 months and won't fix it again. dodge apparently didn't use heavy enough parts and axles in the first place so does that mean i have to pay to have it fixed over and over and over. someone needs to make dodge continue to replace these parts . there are and will be many deaths over these trucks . it is no wonder the american vehicle manuf. are struggling. apparently the bulletin repair makes the truck safe for only 1 more year . this isn't a poor a.c or power lock problem it is related to loss of control while driving in normal everyday conditions which can result in loss of life. please make dodge do the right thing on this one and get to the root of the problem at their expense not mine. just how many complains has dodge had concerning this. only they know. i will never buy another dodge chrysler product again. *tr
I was driving my 2004 dodge ram 2500 on the freeway at about 55 mph when the wheel hit a pot hole. at that moment the steering wheel began to shake uncontrollably. i immediately slowed down and the shake stopped. after that incident i really started to pay attention and it does it from 55 mph and up. i have tried to have the issue corrected but nothing seems to fix the problem. it is very unsafe to drive my vehicle. *tr
